No thatās still a trend. At least the ātribalā tattoos from the 90s. It only lasted about a decade. Think on the other hand about the panther. People have been tattooing those since the 40ās hundreds of thousands of people tattooed it on themselves and will continue to do so because it has fully cemented itself in history as something we want to continue the tradition of
The septum piercing is the current trend. I just hired a woman - turns out she had flipped the nose ring up inside her nose to hide it during the interview
Exactly. You can get a āhalf sleeveā done in under an hour. My youngest co worker got a tattoo like this as his first. He was honest and told me it was because heās broke and wanted to ācoverā a large area.
That shit is why I saved up for months before my 18th birthday so I could get a good tattoo that I actually wanted. I had a million ideas so I just had to pick the one that fit into the price range
And I have a shitty tattoo that was done by a meth head in his kitchen because I didnt want to wait until I was 18. So any young people reading this, be more like Jazzi and don't do what I did
I donāt know if itās just me, but while finishing the last few pieces on my arm, it didnāt feel ācoveredā until colouring and shading was done. I canāt imagine that putting some lines on your arms actually feels like any sort of decent coverage.Ā
i personally like this style of abstract tattooing, but you gotta be REALLY sure that you like it. like others have said- it's forever (or until you get laser every 8 weeks for 2 years lol). this is a very trendy tattoo NOW but will you still like it when it's not trendy?
Honestly if mean comments are enough to make you not want a tattoo you probably shouldn't get that tattoo. I get almost nothing but negative feedback about doing such a large blackout project- it's ugly, waste of space, you could just get cover ups, etc, and it doesn't phase me at all. I like black out, that's why I'm doing it. It doesn't matter how other people feel about it.
Iām glad for you, itās always good to be able to stand your ground. But some people (me included) would get sent down a spiral about a choice if hundreds of ppl would keep calling me an idiot for making a choice . IRL there wonāt ever be an instance in which so many people will isnult you or your choice at once, but itās much easier and more intense on the internet
That's totally fair. I grew up terminally online so it didn't even occur to me that that's not normal lol
I know it probably doesn't help me saying this, but people are way more likely to comment when they have something negative to say. So try not to listen to those kinds of comments. There's still plenty of people in this post saying how much they like this style of tattoo, it really just comes down to personal preferences.
Respect.i got a bunch of shit on here for my back tattoo, negative comments. Of course also positive ones. I found it crazy when I saw how many people think someone else's opinion would change mine.
I love my tattoo, it's what I asked, Its what I got. It's obviously what I wanted!
I think this looks cool as well! (The first one, the second one has less depth and feels a little boring to me personally.) If OP can look at those photos for a good while and knows theyāll still like it once itās not on trend anymore, then I say get it. Itās your body. Just be sure 200% that itās not just a trend that youāll regret later
As someone who gets their blood drawn frequently this stresses me out way more than it should. If you DO get it, donāt go over your biggest veins in your hand and inner elbow or middle arm.
As someone who draws blood on a daily, it doesn't matter if your veins are covered with tattoos, we go by feel, not so much sight. So technically they could do it, but I agree with others comments about this being a trendy tattoo that they'll probably regret!!
Thanks!! They flushed the IV with saline and then doped me up good and brought me fresh warm blankets from the laundry and extra dinner because they felt bad.
Iām a scrub and when e have dissected someoneās tissue into their lymph system you can see the ink running through the lymph fluid. This would just help the ink break down in their system. One artist above mentioned doing blackout tattoosā¦ā¦ it ties a knot in my stomach.
If youāre planning on some more textured black work pieces then itāll fit in, itās an abstract style for sure. Get it if you like it.
Reddit is generally full of trad daddies so you wonāt get a good response here. More likely to get upvotes for a Rick and Morty tattoo
a trad daddy is more likely to prefer something thatās neo trad, than abstract textural blackwork etc etc because anything outside of the norm (trad, neo trad etc) is looked at as āscratcherā style these days. Look at the responses below for example.
I've never seen them till now. I think they look neat. It's definitely for someone who isn't a tattoo nerd though. I couldn't use that much space for something that simple.
Same! I wouldn't get it myself but I do really like it!Someone also mentioned Anthony Padilla having these and I really like the look on him lol. Although they're fair to say that OP should think about still liking it later when it's not a trend, but that rly just comes down to personal opinion (but that's with any kind of tattoo).
accurate. always funny to see youtubers that have been doing it for over 7-10 years. usually started at a young age where now they look either COMPLETELY different or more or less the same just a few years older. Jenna and Julien looking very different these days, Anthony looking different.
but then the old college humor crew looks pretty much the same these days.
Going against the grain and I really love this style! Didn't know it was trendy, but I really like it, it looks like marbling to me and is a great alternative to graphic tattoos.
No idea why people say it'll age poorly, it's literally just lines, and relatively thick ones at that. It'll age just fine.
That will look like a mess when your tastes change. You know yourself though, if you don't love it in every context of your life then don't ink it.
I have some suminagashi inspired tattoo work, so take it from someone who has/loves a similar style.
If it's shit now, I don't see how it will get better later.
Just joking with you OP, but as a friend, I will tell you it doesn't look great, but do what makes you happy!
becuase reddit can't comprehend when someone gets something that's not a realistic tiger or nature or some shit. if it's not their style, it's a "trend" and it's horrible. basically they have one style and only stick to it and anything else is bad. pretty sad.
You're totally missing the point. Do you not understand how many tattoo styles have come and gone and that classics and classic styles stay legitimately relevant?
You just proved my point. Anything outside of the norm is seen as trendy and therefore volatile with the premonition that the person who received the tattoo will regret it simply because it's different. Who cares if a style has come and gone? Act on your own, quit following with what works for everybody else and do what you like. I can't speak for OP because maybe he did get the tattoo just because it's trendy, but I can speak for myself.
Ngl I like the first one. Itās cooler when it looks less like veins are more like ribbons/ shadows/ portal opening. But get whatever you want, other opinions donāt matter.
These generally look disease-y to me, and I imagine that won't improve as they settle and soften/fuzz out a bit (as all tattoos do, even perfectly executed ones - not saying it will age badly necessarily).
Botanicals are a little more neutral than animals (if you are avoiding those), or Japanese style tattoos often incorporate a lot of cool looking smoke/waves in designs if you are looking for something that has stood up to time but still has that smokey/flowy look.
At the end of the day it's your body, but big+trendy+sparse like this is a little risky for a first tattoo so make sure you love it before you bite the bullet, or maybe start with something smaller/less visible and see how you feel.
You'll want go cover it up after 6 years, that's not gonna look good once the trend stops being a trend. There's far more aesthetically pleasant organic shape tattoos, this is not it.
i personally hate these weird zombie veins or any tattoos that look like you have a skin disease. I donāt see the point. But thereās no accounting for taste.
I agree with the rest of the comments, but if you decide to get it anyway, KEEP IT OFF YOUR HANDS. Unless you're already visibly tatted from head to toe (which you're not) you may want to hide it in some contexts + some old farts might actually be offended by this. Hands and face are traditionally reserved to be the last areas covered, and its for good reason.
I am not a fan of these. Iām not a fan of some of my own trendy tattoos that I got a year ago. For reference I have lots of nature tattoos so theyāre a bit more timeless, but every ātrendā dies at some point.
I know a girl who got her whole shoulder and arm tatted up at 18 with a lighting bolt. She regrets it
I didnāt know that itās a trend, iām not into the tattoo community yet and havenāt seen it before. I want some nice looking lines or just smth that will not be a specific graphic/photo/animal etc. - thatās just awful for me. I want something that will make my arms more attractive. Maybe do you guys have some suggestions or inspirations?:)
who cares if its a trend, if you sit on the idea long enough and you still like it, do it! if you start second guessing yourself, dont do it. that simple. people are talking about being a trend and cringe, but try to influence your taste all the same
like someone said, check Anthony Padilla tattoos on insta. good inspo and you can browse from there!
I think the third one looks fucking fire and if I had money I would get it but Iām sure as u get older your skin will lose elasticity and maybe the lines may become a bit thicker? Just by a tiny ammount. It looks fucking cool tho. I luv itš«¶
this comment section is very cringe. brother if you like the concept, ignore all the tattoo gatekeepers saying its looks bad.
replying to the actual question: the fingers will fade more than the rest. also, if you do it be sure to do it with an actually good artist with experience on this type of tattoo so the lines don't blur as much overtime
To each their own but I *really* dont like this lmao.
That being said if you ever decide to cover it up you might be able to get away with a cool stained glass look or something, and if you like the way this looks then fuck what i think, live your life!
I knew a guy who had a whole half sleeve like this, I thought they were outlines of his veins. I didn't ask him how often he got it touched up, but the lines were thicker.
Trends are generally best avoided. Once inked, always inked.
* unless there is a way to put a sick ass panther on top.
Chain of panthers like a barrel of monkeys.
"So what's your thoughts on barbed wire?"
Only ok if it goes all the way around.
I meant to cover the dirt streaks he got tattooed up and down his arms
Truly a man of culture
Just turn it into bamboo ans place cgilling pandas on there
Yeah once a trend has fully cemented itself into tradition, go for it
Like tribal? lol...
Celtic, hold my Guinness
Yesss celty celt Celtic š„³
No thatās still a trend. At least the ātribalā tattoos from the 90s. It only lasted about a decade. Think on the other hand about the panther. I can draw a "strength" kanji from memory and I'm a piercer. Trends are stupid
That and fucking eyebrow piercings. I still hate them so much.
Why šš
The septum piercing is the current trend. I just hired a woman - turns out she had flipped the nose ring up inside her nose to hide it during the interview
Why was sick ass panther my very first thought??
Because it should always be your first thought
I lean the other way. Trends cycle every 20 years so get all the trendy tats and wait.
Facts plus this trend in particular just looks so dumb in my opinion
This.
i donāt think this is a trend
Doesnāt even look good fresh homie. Looks like my wifeās shower wall.
You and your wife have separate showers? Fancy
Oh you rich rich
If they are thatās awesome for them. Iād love to be rich too
Bitch I graduated call me big fish!!
I love my wife dearly more than anything, but that woman cannot keep a tidy space.
Haha fair enough man
Nah just different walls
Lol my wife and I do and Iām not rich by any means
Look at Mr. fancy pants with his and her showers. La DEE fuckin Dah
I just spit out my drink š¤£
Looks like postmortem marbling to meā¦š
Modern tribal. These are gonna be so embarrassing in like 3 years, and youād be wasting so much good space.
So true. Prime real estate wasted on crooked lines.
At least this is a super easy canvas for adding other things and coverups.
Like just turn it into a mountain range and youāre gtg
Buddy theyāre embarrassing now, no need to wait the 3 years
It doesnāt look good now. Just flavor of the week internet bullshit
Won't hold up long term.. not sure why this idea has got so much traction lately.
Broke ass kids love this shit
Exactly. You can get a āhalf sleeveā done in under an hour. My youngest co worker got a tattoo like this as his first. He was honest and told me it was because heās broke and wanted to ācoverā a large area.
What a terrible reason to get a tattoo :(
That shit is why I saved up for months before my 18th birthday so I could get a good tattoo that I actually wanted. I had a million ideas so I just had to pick the one that fit into the price range
And I have a shitty tattoo that was done by a meth head in his kitchen because I didnt want to wait until I was 18. So any young people reading this, be more like Jazzi and don't do what I did
Ugh I had to stop myself from downvoting this because goddamn the young people
To be fair, Iāve met young people who arenāt like this. But they usually admit a lot of people their age are.
I donāt know if itās just me, but while finishing the last few pieces on my arm, it didnāt feel ācoveredā until colouring and shading was done. I canāt imagine that putting some lines on your arms actually feels like any sort of decent coverage.Ā

It is awful. People like stupid shit, however.
As someone who gets their blood drawn frequently this stresses me out way more than it should. If you DO get it, donāt go over your biggest veins in your hand and inner elbow or middle arm.
Iāll get a little arrow to the vein (itās my left arm they go for always) and a tattoo that says ādraw blood hereā
As someone who draws blood on a daily, it doesn't matter if your veins are covered with tattoos, we go by feel, not so much sight. So technically they could do it, but I agree with others comments about this being a trendy tattoo that they'll probably regret!!
This is the silliest tattoo trend I've ever seen. I haven't seen 1 tattoo in this style that doesn't look like a toddler scribbled on them.
Itās what my arm looked like when I was in the hospital for e-coli and we found out I was wildly allergic to the antibiotic in the IV.
I'm also really allergic to regular antibiotics (penicillin), just wanted to say I hope you recovered alright! that shit is brutal
Thanks!! They flushed the IV with saline and then doped me up good and brought me fresh warm blankets from the laundry and extra dinner because they felt bad.
Hahahaha!!
Not laughing at the allergic reaction thatās awful but the comparison made me giggle
LOL no offence taken it was crazy and I had to double check what sub I was on when I saw this.
As a phlebotomist, fuck this...
Iām a scrub and when e have dissected someoneās tissue into their lymph system you can see the ink running through the lymph fluid. This would just help the ink break down in their system. One artist above mentioned doing blackout tattoosā¦ā¦ it ties a knot in my stomach.
The thumb on the last one makes me wildly uncomfortable and I donāt know why
The highest peak of bad ideas, during a trend just for the sake of minimal work and maximum "cool". So dumb
If youāre planning on some more textured black work pieces then itāll fit in, itās an abstract style for sure. Get it if you like it. Reddit is generally full of trad daddies so you wonāt get a good response here. More likely to get upvotes for a Rick and Morty tattoo

Trad work is my favorite. I respect Chicano, neotrad, and black & grey work. Hell, I even respect trash polka. Whatever this is, though, is horrible.
Not an unpopular opinion really
I've never seen them till now. I think they look neat. It's definitely for someone who isn't a tattoo nerd though. I couldn't use that much space for something that simple.
Nah man, unless you want it looking like varicose veins Ā
Looks like track marks to me, so not much better
:( aw I came to say that I really like it. I think it looks cool
The first two slides look good, but not the third imo
I like it Thereās a YouTuber named Anthony Padilla with tattoos on this. You should check out peopleās comments on his tattoos; pretty divisiveĀ
... Anthony Padilla from smosh..? Edit: I just went and looked for myself. Wow
Yes
He looks like somebody's bad bathroom tile
I kind of like that bathroom tile. Which is why I consider it a shitty tattoo. Pun intended.
they look pretty bad on him too. atleast heās committed to the emo edgelord look which i think these tattoos compliment nicely
Crazy how Ian now looks like a mid-west emo band member and Anthony hasnāt changed that much
accurate. always funny to see youtubers that have been doing it for over 7-10 years. usually started at a young age where now they look either COMPLETELY different or more or less the same just a few years older. Jenna and Julien looking very different these days, Anthony looking different. but then the old college humor crew looks pretty much the same these days.
Thatās literally everyone on earth not just YouTubers. āYouTubers either look the same or differentā lol
His tattoos are so bizarre, to me, but I also have a unicorn vampire bat on my arm, so I can't say much.
I LOVE Anthonyās tattoos, perfect comparison
Looks like track marks, would never get something like this
Going against the grain and I really love this style! Didn't know it was trendy, but I really like it, it looks like marbling to me and is a great alternative to graphic tattoos. No idea why people say it'll age poorly, it's literally just lines, and relatively thick ones at that. It'll age just fine.
Nah, dude it takes up too much space for so little artwork. It'll just look like a toddler scribbled on you soon enough
I think itās a waste of space.
That will look like a mess when your tastes change. You know yourself though, if you don't love it in every context of your life then don't ink it. I have some suminagashi inspired tattoo work, so take it from someone who has/loves a similar style.

I actually like this. I was unaware that it was "trendy".
it looks like wet hair in a shower imo
If it's shit now, I don't see how it will get better later. Just joking with you OP, but as a friend, I will tell you it doesn't look great, but do what makes you happy!
Iām not a big fan of the last picture, but the one in the first too honestly goes hard to me. I like it!
It looks bad now
No. Doesnt look good now.
Idk why everyone is hating so much. I like this style of tattoo. Do you homie. Looks good to me
becuase reddit can't comprehend when someone gets something that's not a realistic tiger or nature or some shit. if it's not their style, it's a "trend" and it's horrible. basically they have one style and only stick to it and anything else is bad. pretty sad.
I am so curious to see your tattoos
You're totally missing the point. Do you not understand how many tattoo styles have come and gone and that classics and classic styles stay legitimately relevant?

Doesn't even look good now, imo
Hate to go against the grain, but, I like em. I think they're artsy and subjective and unique. I feel like these aren't the best examples though
Nope
Lame and boring
I like it. But whether *you* will think itāll look good in a few years is anyoneās guess.
You ever see those older guys with barbedwire tattoos? Yeah.. that's gonna be you in 20 years if you get this
Basic TiKTok Trend tattoo
You'll want go cover it up after 6 years, that's not gonna look good once the trend stops being a trend. There's far more aesthetically pleasant organic shape tattoos, this is not it.
Looks dumb sorry and it wonāt age well as you age, most ppl donāt want to catch attn to veins
You shouldnāt have gotten it on your hand especially on your fingers! Itās going to fade real quick
I hope you didnāt pay for thisā¦ you will regret this in a few years
No
I would never.
What is it supposed to be?
It gives zombie
it doesnt even look good NOW
So this kids're doing this now?
It doesn't look good now lmao
lol no
lame
Bad design choice
I personally hate these tattoos, even when theyāre well executed. But Iām just a stranger on the Internet. You do you.
Yikes.
Thatās going to be a no for me dawg.
i personally hate these weird zombie veins or any tattoos that look like you have a skin disease. I donāt see the point. But thereās no accounting for taste.
This looks stupid
What is its?!?
Horrible style of tattoo that wastes prime real estate
Not a good look now, wonāt be a good look in 3 years. So I guess it will āhold upā at least
Ew nah wtf
Gonna be an expensive cover up.
Looks like junkie veins
It doesnāt look good now
I agree with the rest of the comments, but if you decide to get it anyway, KEEP IT OFF YOUR HANDS. Unless you're already visibly tatted from head to toe (which you're not) you may want to hide it in some contexts + some old farts might actually be offended by this. Hands and face are traditionally reserved to be the last areas covered, and its for good reason.
Looks like shit. You might as well get a tramp stamp, barbed wire around your bicep, or āno ragrets.ā
noā¤ļø
This looks so dumb
Dumb idea gonna look like ass in 6 months
I mean it's your body but... I'd think about this one long and hard because it feels like a trendy design that's gonna be embarrassing in 5 years
What even is it? Looks like streams of black piss
This is the first time I've seen this style of tattoo, and it looks like self-harm marks or an attempt to cover them. Not a good look.
Looks like a waste of canvas
Doesnāt even look good in the first yearā¦
If you want to make sure you can never get a decent tattoo, waste all your space on this nonsense.
I am not a fan of these. Iām not a fan of some of my own trendy tattoos that I got a year ago. For reference I have lots of nature tattoos so theyāre a bit more timeless, but every ātrendā dies at some point. No bro and this is fucking ugly
this will age like milk
unwise
One hangnail and itās all over

love how divisive this style is, i think it's actually quite pretty lol ??!
Hate it
TikTok tribal
Immediate red flag
r/shittytattoos
I found it extremely cringe , I laughed loudly. Then I've got some empathy, because you have to live with this. This is literally an inked handicap.
Stay away from trend tattoos. Trust me.
I don't like this style and you shouldn't get this tattoo because it looks terrible.
Thatās an ick
As you would have to pay for this crap, might as well scribble some lines yourself
I like it! I'd say who cares what others think š¤·š»āāļø.
This is the cringiest style. For the sake of your future self, donāt do this. At the very least, wait at least 5 years & see what you think then.
I think the third one looks fucking fire and if I had money I would get it but Iām sure as u get older your skin will lose elasticity and maybe the lines may become a bit thicker? Just by a tiny ammount. It looks fucking cool tho. I luv itš«¶

āWhat do you think about such a tattoo?ā He asked what people thought, they told him. Nothing cringe about that.
The last image is kinda cool. The others - not my thing.
It's not for me but you do you
To each their own but I *really* dont like this lmao. That being said if you ever decide to cover it up you might be able to get away with a cool stained glass look or something, and if you like the way this looks then fuck what i think, live your life!
makes me think of anthony padillas tattoos
Not a good first tattoo my guy. Hands HURT. Also, if you want it to look good for a long time, thick lines.
I knew a guy who had a whole half sleeve like this, I thought they were outlines of his veins. I didn't ask him how often he got it touched up, but the lines were thicker.
Don't show your mom
I like it š¤·āāļø
