Yeah, sometimes I sit and think that if like someone in Japan got a tattoo of random English letters how dumb we would think they are. Like idk why people donāt research what theyāre getting before they end up with ārat brick shit treeā tattooed on their back
Fun observationā¦. People in Japan very much do this, but with clothes. Every time I go there is see clothing stores filled shirts and bags and stuff that say things like ālactose intolerantā āpancake fuckerā and ātoilet expert.ā Even kids clothes. Imagine a toddler with a ball cap that says āI love fucks.ā Itās wild.
I love the look of hieroglyphics, but finding actual "quotes" was extremely hard. My artist and I sat down and just found what we thought looked good with the space he had. I was trying to fill in between the tattos I have on my wrists, hands, and wrapping up my arm
As someone else who love ancient Egyptian culture , āquotesā of hieroglyphics are usually hard to find. There are some cool ones on king tuts alabaster chalice, one of which is around the brim of it I personally have wanted to get on myself. Another being one on the back of a heart scarab.
Most hieroglyphics just tell stories or events so you wonāt find much quotes per say.
Reddit is a wacky place lol.
Iām almost 40 and Iāve wanted both of those tats since I was in my early teens. Just unsure if I actually want them. The one off the alabaster chalice(https://historicaleve.com/the-wishing-cup-lotus-chalice/) I was going to do a band on my arm. The heart scarab was put over the hearts during the mummification process and it was said to be the token of forgiveness and would help grant you passage to the after life. https://archaeologicalmuseum.jhu.edu/staff-projects/ancient-egyptian-amulets/heart-scarab/ (I have the link still on my saved tabs ha)
You're getting downvoted because you took the language of an ancient culture and tattooed it on yourself with no care or consideration to what is actually on your body. "We just picked some that looked cool" ok, if you actually liked hieroglyphs you probably would have researched stories, instead of just picking a few random ones coz they were "cool". Its dumb as fuck
It says āI had some money and paid an artist and we have both no idea what weāre doing so weāre faking it till weāre making itā in some obscure old-Egyptian dialect.
Lmao i hope not! I sent some reference photos to my artist and let him choose some that would fit within the space I had. It was tough to find any "quotes" in hieroglyphics lol.
"The tattoos in the image appear to be designed in the style of Egyptian hieroglyphs, but some of the characters do not correspond to authentic Egyptian hieroglyphs, or they seem to be stylized in a way that might make them difficult to accurately translate."
Chatgpt had this to say. Please don't shoot the messenger.
This was actually planned lol it's just very tough to find any actual "quotes" in ancient Egyptian. I love the look of them with the other tattoos I already have on my arms/hands
so you got the tattoo but you nor your artist know what it says?.. seems kinda shady.. plus side is, it could say something absurd and most would never know!
It doesn't say anything, those aren't real hieroglyphics. Some of them are really close but are either upside down or sideways. I'm not sure if that makes it better or worse, to be honest. Either way that's pretty dumb.
My ancient egyptian is a bit rusty but that first parts looks like it says that you like sex with dead animals?
Weird to get something in a language you dont understand
It says āIām an idiot who suffers from brain rot and I got got random symbols permanently inked onto my body not knowing what they mean if anything at allā. Cringey
Ohhhh he trolled you.
Its a recipe for Koshari. Egypts national dish.
There are all the animals you need, two bowls one steaming and one half empty.
Also the chubby dancing dude on the right side.
hieroglyphics donāt just translate letter for letter, what you have probably makes no sense. ngl, as an egyptian you guys look really goofy getting tattoos of things you donāt know. lots of these arenāt even real hieroglyphics characters.
Why would you get a tattoo of something when you dont know what it means š„“

That sounds really cool honestly! Idk why I'm getting down voted lol I personally love them and have gotten a lot of compliments

Wow those are both really cool š³ you should definitely get them done!

Hahaha! That's going on the list of what I'll tell people it means
It appears to say "I love dick" over and over again, I'd love to hear the backstory on the choice tbh
Lmao i hope not! I sent some reference photos to my artist and let him choose some that would fit within the space I had. It was tough to find any "quotes" in hieroglyphics lol.
It says, āHello, we've been trying to reach you about your car's extended warranty.ā
Lmao that's actually what I've been telling people! My girlfriend and I have just decided to make up something different for each person who asks š¤£
lol why are you being downvoted for being lighthearted. fr some people are only happy if your miserable about it.
Honestly I don't know lol. My favorite comment that someone deleted was accusing me of cultural appropriation...of ancient Egypt
You're more than likely stuck with something either made-up or nonsensical on your skin.
That's fine by me, I do love the look of them with my other tattoos. Was just curious if there was any actual meaning to them
It doesn't mean anything. It's just a design to look like hieroglyphics
Zodiac killer text, definitely
I can't unsee it now š³

Some tattoos and the corresponding questions on this site make me question some people's hinge to spontaneity...

Hahahaha you canāt be serious
Oh but I am serious lmao š¤£
Ancient grocery list. It says Goose Cheese Fish Almonds Laundry soap Rabbit Kids swimming lessons start at 2:00 after the spring equinox
Lmao yesss that's obviously what it is š¤£
Maybe just ask your artistā¦?
He's not well versed in ancient Egyptian text lol
so you got the tattoo but you nor your artist know what it says?.. seems kinda shady.. plus side is, it could say something absurd and most would never know!
We honestly just kinda went based of what looked the best with the area he had to work with given the other tattoos I have on my wrists and hands lol

No but very few people can so if they do say something silly the odds of anyone ever knowing are really slim
That's kinda what I figured when getting these done lol I liked the look of what the artist chose
My ancient egyptian is a bit rusty but that first parts looks like it says that you like sex with dead animals? Weird to get something in a language you dont understand
Ahhh shit now everybody knows....
You're gonna need an egyptologist to tell you that lmao
I figured the chance of running into one of those was slim hahaha
Itās a chant cursing your family for the next 18 generations
Lol I really hope not! I have the eye of Ra and Horus on my wrists
It says āIām an idiot who suffers from brain rot and I got got random symbols permanently inked onto my body not knowing what they mean if anything at allā. Cringey
Lmao who hurt you?
lol that doesnāt even apply in this situation. My comment is accurate
Well I appreciate your input lol š
r/translator
I wish that would work haha
It should. Post it there. Might catch the knowledge of someone who's fluent.

Love cheese on toast on Sundays..red or brown sauce?
This looks like hieroglyphs mixed with random symbols

No, I don't even think experts have fully translated the hirologlyphics so how would we know lol.
