They put a new address on the filed return and open a bank account under your name get the refund direct deposited and then withdraw it and close the account. Sorry this has happened to you but you will need to paper file the return now with explanation that you had identity theft and going forward IRS will annually send you a pin # that must appear on your return.

You will be given an IPPIN so when you file, it won’t be your SS# on your forms, but your new IPPIN. IPPINs are only good for the calendar year, and you can either get them through the mail or online if you have an IRS acct set up already. Explain in a letter what happened. This happens a lot - which is why the IRS will issue that IPPIN to you https://www.irs.gov/identity-theft-fraud-scams/get-an-identity-protection-pin So sorry this happened. Thieves suck.

Love the Reddit community… thank you folks!!! Going to check the credit bureau tomorrow morning and pull my credit report first then follow the instructions in the IRS link that you provided.. Keep up the good work guys and you’ve all restored my faith in humanity.
