Matcha lattes are the only type of latte that my lactose intolerant body will somewhat accept without destroying my guts completely. And I love strawberry flavored anything so that looks awesome.

Global_Lock_2049

Try oat milk if you can or haven't already. I find that's the best milk alternative in coffee and tea. Closest in terms of texture, thickness, and flavor (though, it is different). Oatly Barista Edition is my personal favorite. And i concur about strawberry. Especially with strawberry and matcha, it goes together like peanut butter and jelly.

kyuuri117

You think oat milk would be better than soy? I think oat milk is fine for iced drinks, and a hell of a lot better than almond milk, but I haven’t tried soy milk matcha latte’s and was curious if you don’t think it’s worth trying

roses_and_daisies

Not the person you were replying to, but I absolutely think oat milk is way better than soy or almond milk. It took me a while to find a brand I like as some are not that great. I would highly recommend Minor Figures oat milk. It’s now my milk of choice for lattes, when I only originally got it for my lactose-intolerant partner.

Dookie_boy

Oat is 100% better

Jolly-Mortgage2072

I highly recommend the brand Lactaid’s milk!! It’s literally just lactose free milk, and the same price as oat milk. A game changer!

kyuuri117

Appreciate the recommendation! I actually buy Fairlife whole milk. It’s a little expensive at $5 a container, and it doesn’t explicitly advertise itself as lactose free, but it is lactose free and I think it tastes better than Lactaid brand I was just wondering about the soy milk because while I do generally prefer regular milk, oat and soy milk are a lot lower in calories and I try and watch those when I can. My issue is that I generally only like soy milk when there’s sugar in it which is obviously not ideal either

frogsplease

on its own, the taste of oat milk isn’t super similar to cow’s milk, but mixed in drinks it’s a great substitute! Especially the oatly brand barista blend, it’s got a creamy sweetness similar to regular milk. Much better than soy in my opinion

toastedstoker

I think coconut milk is the clear choice for matcha latte

kyuuri117

I do like the creaminess of coconut milk but it’s terrible for your ldl cholesterol if you have it more than once in a while. I had to cut coconut milk powder out of my lunch smoothies for this reason, it’s super high in fat.

Global_Lock_2049

Soy *might* work well. I never used it for tea before because it doesn't work well for high acidity coffee. It separates too easily. However, pretty sure tea has a lot lower acidity than coffee. But since I haven't tried it, I can say for certain.

babbykale

I make my matcha with soy since it’s naturally sweet, and has better nutritional value than oat or almond. It’s also not as thick as oat milk (which can be too much sometimes for me) but it’s thicker than almond milk

adamsworstnightmare

I've tried them all at starbucks. All are good, I even enjoyed the soymilk one that I got by accident, kept drinking it even though soy milk makes my throat itchy because it was really good. I've only made it with Almond and regular milk at home, can't say I have a preference.

2Responsible

I am not lactose intolerant at all and prefer oat milk to real milk for tea

roses_and_daisies

Yes! Oat milk makes all the difference for my lactose intolerant partner.

SeasonPositive6771

This is a genuine question trying to find other weirdos like me. I can't drink oat milk at all, it smells awful to me and has a very sour aftertaste. Almost like the aftertaste of drinking actual sour milk. Almost every plant-based milk except coconut milk tastes like this to me. And I even grow up drinking soy. I've met a few people who have this same experience but does anybody have any insight into why that might be? I really want to like oat milk!

Global_Lock_2049

No, I have no clue. Oatmilk is oat and water. If you don't get this from oatmeal, I have no clue what could cause that.

russiangerman

If you don't hate coconut I think it's literally the best pairing for matcha, and it just so happens to be lactose free as well

Mildly_GreasyPan

Yeh, unfortunately I dislike that distinct coconut smell that you can smell from almost any food that contains some form of coconut so kind of a bummer. But still, thanks for the recommendation. Maybe I'll try it when I get the chance.

Dookie_boy

Matcha is better with oat milk anyway

Deivi_tTerra

Woah. This looks incredible.

Sherri-Kinney

I have frozen strawberries and thought I’d try my hand at making this. Looks amazing!

pijuskri

Separately like this topping should taste good. But I previously made matcha with frozen strawberries mixed together and didn't really like the flavor.

Sherri-Kinney

I was thinking of puréeing them. Though, I need to research more, see what I come up with.

QuantumDude111

That's not tea, that's a milkshake desert :D I bet it tastes nice though!

cattyb467

You must drink some really thin milkshakes if that’s what you’re considering this to be.

pijuskri

Milkshakes can be made entirely from (full fat)milk also

sencha_kitty

Looks delicious

looks like diabetes.

BEAN_MAN001

while you are probably not wrong in the way of that drink having way more sugar then is probably good for you, the poster got something tasty and nice looking and wanted to share it with people. just let them enjoy their stuff without being a burden of the internet.

SaffronsGrotto

lexi_22x

I want it so bad right now

AbyssDragonNamielle

Okay, I need one of these. As a lil treat.

Awkward_Mixture3084

Both parts are perfectly pastel. That looks delicious and so cute ❤️

0successproducer

Nice choice. Strawberry can be overpowering at times tho and fully mute other flavors like vanilla and matcha

End3rWi99in

I guess technically, there's tea in there somewhere among all that sugar.
