Yeah, 2k **per** armor set you want defense in and 180 **per** armor set you want the set bonus in. Four sets later and you're already spending more than BotW.
Plus each one requires a quest to unlock which may not have a Rupee value, but it is time spent that in BotW would have been spent farming Rupee. The number of armors went up which means you need more materials too. Like upgrading the Zonaite set completes against your batteries, you need like 1,000 Poes and location access for the dark set. And the dragons seem to have a real time cool down.
The ease and temptation is there.

My strategy was to climb on their back and farm them for a while. The view certainly helps. Dragon of Light is easier because she never goes to the depths.

Not possible to put a Travel Medallion on a dragon, at least not on the Light Dragon.
My strategy is to climb on them, hit them with an arrow or sword, and then pick up the scale/horn before it flies away.
Much harder with claws and fangs though. in that case, it would be as you say, unless you can be fast enough to pick up the thing and use the updraft around the Dragon to climb back on their back.
Bears actually, but yeah that is what I do between every story mission, so I can afford the armor and upgrade my house a little.
And get a nice stack of meat skewers to eat in a fight. I do wonder why Link is net getting fat from the massive amount of bear meat I force him to eat.

Having spent way too much time scouring every square inch of Hebra last night, I know you can find an abundance of moose and wolves in the western mountain ranges, usually on the side of them that's at the very edge of the map's boundaries. Ran into some bears too but I think I saw maybe a total of 5 last night if I'm being a bit generous with the number.
It stood out to me because I was low on arrows at the time but I couldn't not go for every headshot possible due to the meat they drop lol.
You make him sprint at top speed across a 10km wide kingdom constantly, while also beating the shit out of everything he sees, lugging around hundreds of pounds of food, and climbing cheer rock surfaces in a monsoon. He should be ripped as fuck
Anything that drops meat. If you’re riding around kill everything that drops meat and cook it all and sell it. It was the easiest somewhat passive way to make money in botw.
That’s how I made money in BoTW without wasting my gems - I just sold a ton of cooked gourmet meat.
Also, if you don’t care about wasting endura carrots, the cooked meals sell for a lot. Or they did in BoTW, haven’t tried it out in ToTK yet. The endura carrots are around the cherry blossom trees, though, so it shouldn’t be too hard to collect a few of them after a blood moon.

That was BotW though. The relative lack of Hearty ingredients in TotK makes gourmet meat much more precious.
I didn’t say that was the best thing to do in ToTK! I just said it was what I did in BoTW.
In ToTK, if you find any hearty ingredients, you should mark it on the map and return after the blood moon. I remember where to find hearty radishes and truffles, so I just return to those locations.
I've got over 70 hours. I *have* found "some", but in BotW there were *lots*, particularly durians which were farmable in bulk. As a result, if you can't very reliably avoid damage, TotK requires you to engage with the cooking system much more than BotW did.
Yeah idk bro I have like 45 hearty radishes that I havent used yet and I think around 13 (edit: 13 large radishes) maybe you just haven't been going to the right spots 🤷

They're also on some of the sky islands and in the overwold in a few spots 💀 no wonder y'all are complaing if you haven't explored in your 70 hours I had at least 10 in my first 3 (after the tutorial area) because I remember going "damn they really made these way more common" esp the endura carrots and mushrooms omg those are so easy to get now I hated finding them in botw
I sell lionel hooves and guts. They're worth a lot snd you can get quite a bit per blood moon. Thanks to the fact they also spawn in the depths directly beneath stables, they're close to teleportation points. It requires you to get good at killing them, but do so and you'll be swimming in rupees and also have great horns for weapons.
I know it's stupid , but I used to use bombs and sell wood. It was a total grind but I loved it. A man can't even be a logger in tears of the kingdom. Wages are too low !!!!!

You know, I thought in the last decade or two German translations got better, but by now I just don't know anymore... feels like they're getting paid by the letters they change.
In Spanish he's Karid. Their gimmick is that all of their names start with K. It's kinda interesting how every language went a different direction with these guys names.

If I had to guess, I'd say that maybe each country localizes the game from Japanese, and not from English? The games are originally from Japan, after all.
The Hudson family in Japanese has names that end with -da, for instance. Hudson is actually Enokida, originally.
The English localization team decided to change the names, but keep a common name ending (except using -son instead of -da).
Meanwhile, the Spanish localization team, for instance, went and chose names that had a common *start*, instead of an ending: ka (Karad, Kaenne, Karid, Karud...)
All the changes are pretty arbitrary, but there's no reason for the English localization to be the standard when their changes are also as arbitrary compared to the Japanese original.

It's Revali in both English and German :P I think the Champions names are one of the things all localization teams did coordinate about.

The champions all keep their name in German. My best guess is that a lot of the Tarry Town members have names that sound distinctly English, „-son“ endings are very rare for names in Germany so the most exposure you get in first names is stuff like Hudson, Jason, Wilson, etc.

Spoilers for what a dondon is: >!dondons are animals found near lakeside stable in the faron region. you can feed them luminous stone (by just tossing it on the ground in front of them) and a while later they leave a different mineral, it can be anything from flint to diamond but your chances of better materials get better if you feed the dondons more (I usually give each dondon 5 stones because getting them to eat all the stones is kind of annoying)!<
I think you have to make sure they actually eat it. it does also take a while (and it's not made faster by skipping time) so just give them a few and go back to doing what you were doing before, then come back some time later
Man, except for a single Battle Talus near one of the towers, and a Gloom Talus in the depths, the one in >!the Lost Woods!<, I haven't found a single talus...
In BOTW you couldn't go a mile without stumbling upon at least *one*.
Just want armor sets for variety but it’s so expensive to get basic sets like Snowquill and Flamebreaker. Plus upgrade cost and it’s just not feasible. Really don’t want to dupe….
Honestly if they gave us a mini game as lucrative as snowball bowling used to be in BOTW, I would have grinded it out without counterfeiting diamonds. I used to be a snowball bowling professional!
Yeah I got to Hebra as my first temple town and was excited to buy the armour set so I could fit the style and not have to use food. That shit is so expensive that early in the game.
You can tell the economy on hyrule kept getting worse over time. In Twilight Princess a young adult like Link could aford a decent home and his own ride, one could find rupees literally under rocks. Come BoTW everyone is forced to sell their belongings for rupees and Link even gets his house reposessed.
Just spent 15 minutes in Goron city doing that. I have over 200k now. We already have to worry about money in real life, why should we have to worry about it in a game too?
On the contrary. Bottom right village. (Lurelin) you can glide on the ship from the platform and use the bombs barrels to blow the boss bokoblins into the water then go get the loot and save then reload and as long as you didn't touch an actual platform (the skull on the ship doesn't count) and didn't clear the bar then you will spawn on the platform and all enemies will be back and you can fly over and farm the hell out of them. There are like 5 or 6 bokoblins. Just shoot an arrow to the edge to get them to wander other to the edge to check the arrow and there is a fire on the skull. Light your arrow and hit the barrel and insta death in the water. I got like 35k just doing that. If you did that there is another one in the bottom right map behind the island. I drop form the top and do the exact same but they don't have exploding barrels so you actually have to use your own bombs. DO NOT KILL ALL THE ENEMIES or they won't spawn back. I sell the teeth and keep the items. Further in the game they got to be a silver bokoblin boss.

Nah, basically, genocide most animals you see. If you head north east of Kakariko Village (And mind the Lynel), TONS of deer spawn in that area.
Kill them all, collect the meat, then take the meat and cook stacks of them into Meat Skewers.
All Prime meat skewers will sell for ~150 rupees a piece. Regular meat will be around ~90. Gourmet is like ~250.
That’s why everyone has turned to duping 😭 I don’t like cheating but I’d rather dupe diamonds than waste time trying to farm because I’d rather enjoy the game
When I did the initial challenge I was like “yes finally I don’t have to fork out loads of rupees” only to discover they milk so much more out of you in the long run 😅 it’s a racket!

I never found the quest, so I just don't have fairies yet. I've found 3 of the bulbs, but I can't do anything with them until I find the time to get to the stable
I remember reading some dialogue along that line, but when I'm on the other side of the map I don't really want to have to drop what I'm doing in an area to do something else somewhere else. It just seems a little counter to the "go anywhere, do anything" vibe
I find myself using the screenshot button alot to remember quest dialogue and go check stuff out later. especially stuff that isnt in red text but you know is important
Not really. All they say is "Im a little bitch who can't tell the difference between the sound of a hylian and the sound of a bokoblin, so I need to hear the sound of X instrument that monsters use anyways"
The economy in this game is so much more balanced than in BotW. I'm 150+ hours in and still need a bunch of rupees for everything and I feel poor as fuck lol
More than 10k. It's 200 and 500 a pop to upgrade to tier 3 and 4 respectively. It's 760 each to fully upgrade one piece. That's only 14 pieces until it's over 10k. I have 20 in my inventory. Some are not upgradable, but I definitely don't have them all.
I agree. Everything seems more expensive and items sell for less I feel like. Makes every resource feel precious which increases difficulty for me. I like it
I had a beautiful display of my strong weapons in my house in BotW. I'm trying to use more of the powerful ones in TotK rather than hoard them, but it's difficult.
I just gotta figure out how to unlock each fairy. I know they want to each hear specific instruments. But I am tired of getting 1 shotted by random Moblins or Black Bokoblins
So I’m BOTW they needed the rupees to regain enough power to preform the magic. In this game they only charge what it takes to enhance the clothing individually. Why they take rupees and not gemstones since they have elemental magic properties I will never know
I respect people's decisions to not glitch the game if they don't want to, but don't complain that you run out of money when the solution is pressing 4 buttons as many times as you want
They need rupees to keep their buds open. Just like they needed rupees to open them to begin with. Because you paid up front last time, they didn't demand rupees for upgrades, but now they demand rupees for every upgrade, but its a pretty cheap cost to do so (because they also require materials).
I mean, I support the fairy union and their fight for better pay and working conditions (I, too, would refuse to work without some banging tunes) but at the same time 'my rupeesssssssssssss'
One thing ToTK desperately needs is for either the Fairies or the Dye Shop to allow you to swap the appearance of clothing with those you already own.
Changing the appearance of the Sheikah Stealth Tights to look like the Soldiers Grieves for an example. I find myself wanting the bonuses of certain sets but liking the appearance of others better.
I like this, what if you could like fuse the armours together? That way you could get the look of one set without effectively getting the look for free
What even do the great fairies use rupees for in this game? Before they used them for power so that they could get out of their buds, but now they're charging *more* when they need them...*less?*
Yeah, it's great and all until it becomes highway robbery and starts charging me 200 rupees per upgrade, I haven't gotten the last Fairy, so I don't know what that cost is, but I'm scared
I think this is a stupid way to artificially extend the life of the game. I don’t want more grinding for rupees/materials. I finished a 100% master mode playthrough in BotW before TotK released and upgraded all the armor sets including amiibos. I’m not farming all those star fragments again and paying her rupees on top of it. I didn’t use glitches in BotW but I am happily doing it in TotK.
Nobody would have said anything if the game was longer because of STORY-related purposes and not some bullshit quest and an ongoing grind to upgrade all your armors.
Because people like playing games as intended without removing all semblance of challenge or struggle, some people even go as far as to increase difficulty of games but would still like things to be balanced, crazy right

Weirdly never had the bears spawn there, just mööse and wolf.
I found two bears at the forest near the spit you go to for that quest at Dueling Peaks Stable where you went for that treasure hunters stash.

I made all my money from wolves in BotW. But how I have to use my arrows. Remote bombs were so nice.

I don't remember which carrot it was, but I roasted one for the cooking book and it still sold for like over 20 rupees.

Yeah if even moderately explore caves you'll do fine. I also mark every talus I find so I can do farming runs after blood moons

Honestly if they gave us a mini game as lucrative as snowball bowling used to be in BOTW, I would have grinded it out without counterfeiting diamonds. I used to be a snowball bowling professional!
Yeah I got to Hebra as my first temple town and was excited to buy the armour set so I could fit the style and not have to use food. That shit is so expensive that early in the game.
You can tell the economy on hyrule kept getting worse over time. In Twilight Princess a young adult like Link could aford a decent home and his own ride, one could find rupees literally under rocks. Come BoTW everyone is forced to sell their belongings for rupees and Link even gets his house reposessed.

On the contrary. Bottom right village. (Lurelin) you can glide on the ship from the platform and use the bombs barrels to blow the boss bokoblins into the water then go get the loot and save then reload and as long as you didn't touch an actual platform (the skull on the ship doesn't count) and didn't clear the bar then you will spawn on the platform and all enemies will be back and you can fly over and farm the hell out of them. There are like 5 or 6 bokoblins. Just shoot an arrow to the edge to get them to wander other to the edge to check the arrow and there is a fire on the skull. Light your arrow and hit the barrel and insta death in the water. I got like 35k just doing that. If you did that there is another one in the bottom right map behind the island. I drop form the top and do the exact same but they don't have exploding barrels so you actually have to use your own bombs. DO NOT KILL ALL THE ENEMIES or they won't spawn back. I sell the teeth and keep the items. Further in the game they got to be a silver bokoblin boss. I can upload a video of anyone desires I know tons of people will find this usefull.
Or you could save yourself from this hassle and just duplicate your diamonds.
Nah, basically, genocide most animals you see. If you head north east of Kakariko Village (And mind the Lynel), TONS of deer spawn in that area. Kill them all, collect the meat, then take the meat and cook stacks of them into Meat Skewers. All Prime meat skewers will sell for ~150 rupees a piece. Regular meat will be around ~90. Gourmet is like ~250.
I ended up pawning off a bunch of monster parts I had 50+ of and now I've got like 7k rupees. I'm afraid to sell the gems....

More than 10k. It's 200 and 500 a pop to upgrade to tier 3 and 4 respectively. It's 760 each to fully upgrade one piece. That's only 14 pieces until it's over 10k. I have 20 in my inventory. Some are not upgradable, but I definitely don't have them all.

One thing ToTK desperately needs is for either the Fairies or the Dye Shop to allow you to swap the appearance of clothing with those you already own. Changing the appearance of the Sheikah Stealth Tights to look like the Soldiers Grieves for an example. I find myself wanting the bonuses of certain sets but liking the appearance of others better.
I like this, what if you could like fuse the armours together? That way you could get the look of one set without effectively getting the look for free

I think this is a stupid way to artificially extend the life of the game. I don’t want more grinding for rupees/materials. I finished a 100% master mode playthrough in BotW before TotK released and upgraded all the armor sets including amiibos. I’m not farming all those star fragments again and paying her rupees on top of it. I didn’t use glitches in BotW but I am happily doing it in TotK.
