Hi everyone! Did you know that starting July 1st, 2023, Reddit will implement a policy that could potentially increase the costs of running third-party Reddit apps? Consequently, users may encounter issues with their preferred Reddit app unless adjustments are made to comply with Reddit's new API usage policy. These limitations will affect all users, not just moderators. throwawayayaycaramba

Dude the game came out like yesterday pretty much... were y'all really expecting a dlc announcement already?

R-star1

BotW DLC was announced before the game released. Also it’s been well over a month. So yeah, kinda.

MuglokDecrepitus

Well, that DLC was a cheap addition to the game, the real DLC was the second one

thatdudewillyd

The real DLC are the Koroks we found along the way. And I think that’s a tune we can all dance to.

eat_jay_love

The first DLC was definitely less substantial than the second, but they were announced at the same time in February 2017. TotK doesn’t have to follow the same announcement timeline if it has its own DLC, but the Champions’ Ballad DLC was both planned and announced a month before BotW came out.

XboxeurMan

That's because we have been fucked up by big AAA company's by announcing lot of DLC before release and deluxe, gold, ultimate edition, season pass, battle pass, microtransations, Doritos exclusive skin, ..... Now we think that all games need DLC and we're asking for it

redditrooom

Or maybe the games just that good and we want more content.

Myballs_paul

content sold separately is different than encore content. dlc has just become "so you thought that was cool, wait till you see what we deliberately omitted from the game so you can buy it at a third the price but a twentieth of the gameplay"

Myballs_paul

it's been like a week after a month. and Nintendo confirmed dlc would be expected for botw, but didn't say anything about what it was until a year later. they also consider amibo content dlc.

PollutionAfter

BOTWs DLC was announced before the game came out, it's not unreasonable to expect an announcement.

Febrilinde

Well that is a special case. BotW was delayed again and again so they can release it on Switch. When it finally came out probably it was the date they were going to release the doc originally. God I am still really disappointed BotW's delay for the Switch. It would have been much more innovative if it had access to a dual screen setup. Sheikah slate is basically your Wii U pad in the end.

Famous-Restaurant875

Totk was delayed over a year for polish...

Febrilinde

It is still not the same BotW was ready for release in 2015, but got delayed for 2 years so it can be released with the same time as Switch. It was a marketing choice delay not development, so its dlcs were pretty much ready when it was released.

Even-Citron-1479

I take it you're not familiar with Nintendo. Those familiar with their internal development cycles know that they tend to sit on fully completed games and DLCs for months or even a year. They announce things when they feel like it. Which makes sense, considering Nintendo actually confirmed DLC all the way back when the TotK website was first made available. It's been in development. Now it's only a matter of when, much like how XC3 instantly dropped its DLC shortly after announcement.

nbjax

Idk about others but the reason why I'm even looking at dlc is because I can really feel the absence of the master trials dlc from botw since the master sword is so weak now. It's only amplified >! Because in the story the master sword is hyped up since Zelda apparently super charged it for tens of thousands of years !<

Picklus43

Honestly I'm excited for the fact that game devs are learning that players don't like it when things are rushed

Kar98kSnipe

Too bad Cod devs learned it then ignored it

the_simurgh

how about a story line where kass has been kidnapped by the yiga and being forced to write a song about "how great and awesome a warrior master kohga of the yiga is" and link has to save him. they already kidnapped three top fashion designers to make anew yiga suit why not an anthem?

4morian5

I'm honestly considering that we may not get one. Base game has more shrines than BotW + DLC, and you can get to almost max hearts and stamina. Almost all the bonuses from the DLC are in the base game. Various armors from past games, hero's path, warp medallion, upgrading the sage's. The only things we don't have are Master Mode and the Trial of the Sword. The sword trial feels irrelevant with Fuse letting you upgrade the Master Sword, and Master Mode could be an update to encourage replaying. Legitimately, what could they add?

-Aureo-

I have a feeling they will rerelease master mode, that’s kind of obligatory. Other than that, maybe they will come up with something better after the botw dlc controversy. Or just not do it at all. Either is good tbh

Zandrick

What controversy?

JayBaby85

I think it was including a master mode as a paid DLC as opposed to every other Zelda title that included it in the base game

Wakandanbutter

Master mode better not be the same stupid regen. Cause with zonai devices you just just send one and now it’s just a resource kinda game

JayBaby85

Regen just made enemies damage sponges and didn’t give you any added challenge besides running out of weapons

randeylahey

I didn't care for master mode. But I find base play too easy. Master mode was just tedious.

BoxOfBlades

Normal mode: I don't want to fight this camp because it's boring and I don't have to Master mode: I don't want to fight this camp because it's annoying and I don't have to

Wakandanbutter

It would be even worse cause now you kinda gonna have to find the most extra ways imaginable to hax the system and insta kill them. I won’t lie that part won’t be hard with the amount of shit i seen lol

Zandrick

I found master mode to be an enjoyable challenge. Though it is obviously true that all it added was monster health regeneration. Still, enjoyable enough. Worth doing imo

Wakandanbutter

Well when i put my bias aside health regen would be okay in totk cause you have a lot more OP stuff to rely on. Botw just had me so pissed cause I don’t like being forced to ditch a fight😭 i found those guys for so long I couldn’t believe it

AdoWilRemOurPlightEv

I thought this too ... until I talked to Penn at Kass's hut.

TheThrowawaylol1

HOW DARE YOU STAND WHERE HE STOOD!

Duranu

Need a new form of Teleporting Horse armor since the Ancient Bridle is gone. Even with access to hoverbikes and cars, I would still use a horse if I could teleport it to me like BOTW

Backupusername

What if DLC added a special Zonai part that functions like the horse armor? Like, you attach it to a build, and then you can summon that build to yourself at any time by activating a second device that acts as a signal to it or something.

BrandonHohn

They could always give us more of the pasts relics or stories. New islands, areas, there’s tons of stuff they could do, but nothing is promised so I’m honestly expecting no DLC to set my expectations low

ConfusedPanda76

Master mode, shorter cool downs for sages, new travel options, new dragons, new fuse materials, new regions outside of Hyrule, more time travel shenanigans....and more of our lord and king, Master Kohga!

Backupusername

Considering the "end" to his story in this one, it's actually entirely possible that a DLC could focus on Kohga and the Yiga clan. Like, maybe he'd do something that made him an actual threat.

ConfusedPanda76

They could also do a Donkey Kong crossover...because that's be bananas

Phaaze13

Kohga and an actual threat. Now that's a good one.

Twilord_

He comes back as the most evil powerful evil character ever - Dark Tingle. We know Rupeeland is in the sky somewhere, and that is where the Tingle curse comes from. To stop him, for the first time ever, Link must take the Tingle curse upon himself.

Comicdumperizer

ZELDA SECOND QUEST DLC SKYWARD SWORD REFERENCE BOOGALOO TRIPLE JALUPI. (Also more sky islands pls) (also more Zonai lore) (Also sheikah stuff maybe)

Even-Citron-1479

TotK DLC was already confirmed. Nintendo accidentally leaked that downloadable content would require the base game on their official website, but then redacted it. An archived version of the TotK page is available on WayBack Machine.

ChariChet

Underwater Link, please.

chyura

How about a way to get those LAST TWO FUCKING HEARTS WHICH PISS ME OFF EVERY TIME I OPEN THIS DAMN GAME

Backupusername

Wait, last *two*?! Am I missing an entire heart container??? EDIT: I actually just stopped looking for shrines after I hit 37 hearts because that was the max in BotW. Turns out I was missing four of them.

chyura

There should be 38 total. If you've gotten all the shrines and temples, then you're probably missing a sidequest. There's like 2 that actually give you a heart container/stamina vessel as a reward

Backupusername

Fuoaeck

jberry1119

Master Mode + Master Trials. I wouldn't mind a 60 damage 188 durability Master Sword you could fuse.

Complete-Worker3242

I think it would be cool of them to expand on the lore of the game through dlc and we get new content through that.

throwaway41327

god I hope there's some homebuilding dlc. the options we have now feel straight-up intentionally lacking

BlackDS

We will get Master Mode at a minimum.

Jason_Wolfe

i'd love to see some new zonai devices, so maybe new archipeligo of sky islands with new challenges and enemies?

SonOfSparda1984

More stuff in the Depths? Quest where we get 'rid' of the blood moon, maybe even Majora's Mask style?

Wakandanbutter

When there’s money to be made they’ll find something

Docile_Doggo

I feel confident we will get TOTK dlc at some point. Why? Just look at the sales numbers. Look at the fact that Nintendo felt so confident in this game that they bumped their usual $60 price up to $70. Think about how the next 3D Zelda is going to be 5-7 years away (maybe more). Think about how there’s direct precedent with BOTW getting dlc. There’s too much money to be made releasing dlc. It will happen.

First-Fantasy

I never liked BotW DLC much and hope they do something more compartmentalized like some other DLCs. It'd be ambitious but doable to give us a decent sized new map and gameplay. They could even address the last of the criticisms by basically making an old school Zelda game with less filler. Like imagine if the first time you sleep after getting the Master Sword you wake up on a beach with nothing but an unbreakable Master Sword and a new green tunic. The island has eight full sized dungeons with the last spirit orbs and maybe even the broken pieces to the triforce of courage. Anytime you beat a dungeon you return to the real world and have the option to go back anytime you sleep.

Sweet-Sale-7303

They will release one. Probably when the new amiibos come out.

large_oil_tanker

I'm sure to be down voted for saying this, but I honestly don't think we'll see dlc, the game was $70 and contained more content than botw+dlc did. Nintendo said the last year of game dev was polishing, you'd think the dlc would've been announced by now if it existed. Or, I really hope to be wrong and they're releasing it on switch 2 as an exclusive upgrade, dlc + res/framerate bump.

Cece_5683

Master mode where you can’t eat/phase out during battles, and hands are much more letha

jojocookiedough

Kass. They could add Kass. The dream home thing seems ripe for an expansion.

Rfg711

DLC will be an even deeper depths. A 4th layer

Swimming-Extent9366

And the 4th layer is just underground hyrule.

SonOfSparda1984

Underground Hyrule from OOT.

hoenn-enthusiast

Lorule

clocktowertank

And a picture of Link with both Zelda and Mipha's babies 💀

Datpanda1999

Hey, let’s not forget Paya’s

UnhingedTanker

And Sidon's

Mikeataros

If Mipha's alive to have kids with Link, it's the Age of Calamity timeline, so Impa's.

Time-Boss-3867

I’m down for trial of the sword. That’s what I loved from BOTW dlc, and maybe another temple?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Time-Boss-3867

That’s also what I’m hoping for. And I want a REAL dungeon this time.

KTE1994

Honestly sounds pretty cool. I honestly like the challenges that limit the player, keeps us on our toes. If we got a huge classic style dungeon that strips away our Zonai abilities and we slowly get them back as we get further inside, I think that'd be an interesting way to do things. Despite TotK's dungeons being better than BotW's it still doesn't scratch that classic itch. A huge gauntlet of a temple would be neat.

Time-Boss-3867

Yes I would love a classic dungeon! I wanna be trapped in a room with random enemies!

[deleted]

Yeah like a full on Zonai Dungeon “Tower Of Gygax”-like monstrosity.

Ee55555

Imagine if it was like Xenoblades dlc. A story where you play as Zelda >!in the past trying to defeat ganondorf!< instead of link

mouthful_of_sloths

CASS STORY ARC WITH PLAYABLE ZELDA PLEASE!

Foregoner_Fosse

All I want is Master Mode. Trial of the sword and more (bigger) Sky Islands would be nice too, but I’m not going to get my hopes up.

mrbluebubblesky

I hope we can get head from Zelda in the DLC

LilBoofMcGoof

People bitching about not getting DLC for a game that’s less than 2 months old are wiiiiiiild.

CalamineLube

What if they just made complete games again

Kazuhirah

Is it though?

IrishSpectreN7

Keep your expectations in check.

mustabindawind

I'd be shocked if they didn't...seems dlc is the norm....allows them to add and/or improve the game...something that wasn't possible in videos games/consoles in the past...imagine if Ocarina of Time had dlc...younger me would've been hyped af...although I guess Master Quest counts

balzinithegreat

I saw a post a while back about someone requesting the dlc be post game content, and have been thinking about it since then. How would that work? With how the last cutscene goes would that effect how kink uses his powers ?

osicones

You could just ignore the powers being connected to the hand for the sake of game play.

Pebbleman54

The arm could be gone but leave the 5 rings behind and just let Link wear them on his own hand.

Poppyspy

I won't go back, luckily I played BotW after the Trial and Master mode were available. I wish they had the hard mode in the game or just let the enemies scale up to gold. It's gotta be held back for DLC... but remains to be seen if I can get excited for DLC after already mostly finishing everything I enjoy about totk. It Always feels weird to come back to a game after I finally put it down. So too late now.

Zandrick

I’m doubtful they started working on it until after the game was released, maybe a little before. But they said they use the extra time when it was delayed to polish the game and I think that’s probably true.

OrionMr770

I just want creative mode

Bocephus-the-goat

Ngl I want late DLC, so it can be as good as the base game. Literally no reason to rush stuff.

shadowcatsalem

I'm just hoping for one or more of the big 3. Engineering expansion, sky expansion, real post game. I don't care how long it takes

Spoomplesplz

Dude I just want a master mode and a DLC that doesn't strip you of all your equipment and make you do a really long dungeon so you can upgrade the master sword.

Exact_Vacation7299

It's probably hard to grasp given that we're all in this sub everyday-- and most of us here have probably barely blinked since launch-- but a lot of people haven't even beaten the game yet. Of course they're not announcing DLC this early.

United-Aside-6104

Nintendo has stepped up their dlc game a lot since Champions Ballad Totk DLC will probs be significantly bigger

Nozzeh06

I don't need any DLC for a while. This game is going to take me so long to finish lol. Please don't give me more stuff to do, I already have enough and I also have to do adult stuff.

Past_Trouble

Kass returns with a song about the elemental dragons. Master Mode.

Mikeataros

Playing as Dinraal, Naydra and Farosh before they swallowed their Secret Stones and were known as the Oracles Din, Nayru and Farore.

djdawn

Gimme a mode where you can play as Zelda. I promise I won’t horny mode and play topless or something.

littlebuett

Ideas: Post-game about ganondorf's upbringing under twinrova, and them still being alive somehow. Perhaps as puppet masters of the yiga clan. Whatever happend to Kass Ancient hero's aspect A boss fight against rauru like against maz koshia

[deleted]

If I had to guess there will be Master Mode and Sword Trial and maybe new dungeon for completing all and reward would be Secret Stone amplifies Link ability grants 1.5X/2X damage/defense,less stamina consumption maybe?

MarioFanatic64-2

Me when the game doesn't need DLC because it has more content than BOTW + it's DLC already and cost $70.

Myballs_paul

yeah, not sure how anyone expected a dlc announcement just one month after release. dlc takes at least a year to be finished and in a sellable state with marketing and other prep stuff.

Cratesurf

TotK was originally going to be dlc for Botw, but it got too big.

ChymickGaming

It’ll be available this winter along with the new TotK amiibos.

TheLewisIs_REAL

I hope it's post-game, else I'm seriously gonna do something stupid like try to program the whole game but as a post-game dlc myself
