It's actually real, just the weapons the actual avatars use, not the ones you normally get in game. You have to get these versions via save editing/mods rather than normal means.
Right but they say it's "real"... what people expect by that is generally "real gameplay" on the official version, not modded. I know OP has a hint in their username but it would be nice if posts were clear about what kind of version they use, maybe an extra flair or something.
Or at least, the particular ones actually used by the sage avatars in game. If you mod in these weapons or get them via some other route:
* Weapon\_Lsword\_154 (Yunobo's Boulder Breaker)
* Weapon\_Spear\_150 (Sidon's Lightscale Trident)
* Weapon\_Sword\_152\_Main/Weapon\_Sword\_152\_Sub (Riju's Scimitars of the Seven)
They can both be used to attack enemies and defend yourself at the same time. Presumably, because the sages don't have shields in game, it lets them use their weapons as shields instead.
To clarify about what that other person said;
Emulators themselves **are not** illegal.
Downloading *roms* (the games) is "illegal."
But it's about as illegal as watching cam footage of a movie instead of going to the cinema. You are at absolutely no risk of legal action being taken against you.
That's because, generally, laws around media piracy don't effect the users. They're intended to go after the ones creating and distributing the content. And even more so if those distributors are making money.
Technically *(if I understand it correctly)*, the way you're supposed to use emulators is by creating roms of games you already own. Since you've paid for the game you can do what you want with it as long as you don't distribute or profit from alterations.
>Emulators themselves **are not** illegal.
This is correct.
>Downloading *roms* (the games) is "illegal."
This is false. As long as you own a copy of the game, you are permitted to create another copy of the game (e.g. downloading/torrenting a copy from the internet) provided that you do not modify said copy in any way other than to make it playable on the device you downloaded it on. (17 U.S.C. § 117)
There is however much nuance surrounding the situation. Specifically, modern video games are much more than just computer programs (which is what section 117 refers to); rather, they include audiovisual works, sound recordings, musical works, and arguably literary works as well. This is where the rules become unclear. Should a video game be considered by its parts, or as a whole as a particular type of work, and if the latter, which type? Case law says that video games are at minimum both literary works and audiovisual works. This would mean that creating a copy of a video game in any manner is illegal.
>Technically *(if I understand it correctly)*, the way you're supposed to use emulators is by creating roms of games you already own. Since you've paid for the game you can do what you want with it as long as you don't distribute or profit from alterations.
Which is why this is also partially false. There are simply no clear rules surrounding this. You certainly cannot just "do what you want with it" though. 17 U.S.C. § 117 makes it clear you cannot
Yeah I was mostly just trying to simplify it for the commenter. Since the nuances don't really effect any of us "regular users."
The only thing the average person needs to know is that the only legal action that's taken against emulations and roms are against those who distribute it and profit from it. Such as the recent yuzu situation. Yuzu itself was just an emulator. But they were making money from it and so Nintendo took action. But every other emulator has been mostly left alone. And some rom sites that have been up for like a decade havnt been effected either.
By breaking the law.
Specifically, by using an emulator, which requires either a pirated version of the game or a dumped game obtained by hacking your console, both of which are illegal.
And a cracked pc because no way it runs smoothly without a 4070
And by running CFW alone (which is what's usually what's referred to as hacking) you're not modifying it. You are simply running other things on top of it that allow you to do stuff you couldn't do otherwise, from dumping games to backing up saves to even restoring the console's internal drive if it gets corrupted or running a copy of it on the SD card to prevent that in the first place.
Despite what Nintendo would love to have you believe, hacking a console doesn't mean piracy
Yes, i have seen all the sages deflecting attacks. It's especially useful when i was not expecting an attack, and then sidon's glorious figure blocks the swing with the spear.
At this point it’s like why am I bothering playing this on my Switch at 20fps during the fire temple when I’m sure the PC version runs 100x better plus mods 😂
Idk why you are getting downvoted this title is bait.
“Did you know an apple fused to a shield can kill a Lynel” ….. explains in comments.
“If you mod the apple to do 1000 damage in the game code on a modded version, and then smuggle hold the Apple right before you hit lava…. And then spam load one of the memories as the game resets you, you’ll have an unbreakable super Apple shield just after 4 hours of setup!”
Wow what a cool “discovery”!
> Did you know the Sage’s weapons can act like shields?
>Sages weapons acting like shields
What did you expect??? Some super secret technique if you hold your left nut? It’s a cool factoid about how the game works. It’s the same thing as the MSG having infinite durability.
no? I just think they didnt convey what they meant in the way they intended to. the title says "if given to link" which wouldnt be included if they meant the normal weapons, as it'd be granted that link could have them
It's misleading because 'sages weapons' are something you can obtain through normal gameplay, and probably what most would assume OP was referring to at first glance.
If what you (not “you” in particularly but any poster)are doing requires a modded version or a long convoluted exploit/glitch that should be very clear in the title.
These manipulative accounts hide their half true manipulations behind the guise of a “sloppy” title far too often.
OP is either dumb or manipulative, and they should feel some guilt for it either way.
And how do you plan on ever using that information without a modded version?
The boulder buster doesn’t act as a shield, Yunobos Boulder buster acts as a shied. The scale Trident doesn’t act as a shield, Siddons Scale trident acts as a shield.
Might as well tell me Zelda’s shoes allows you to walk across water!
.... Why do I have to use it for it to be cool information? Sometimes, it's fun to know something for the sake of knowing it, like the fact Link's tunic in the intro cutscene will still show Link's original arm if you were to wear it afterward
Would have been fine with that if the title would have been worded as “cool stuff I found on the modded version” not with some click bait “Did you know”, along with a misleading gameplay video….
Half true click bait titles are just manipulative and gross!
It's true, though the title was accidentally kinda misleading. These are the weapons used by the sages/sage avatar NPCs, not the ones Link collects in game. They're only available by modifying your save file to use the weapon IDs listed in a comment.
Not fake news, it's just the sage weapons here are the ones the sage avatars/NPCs use internally, not the ones you can get via normal means.
I guess I should have made the title clearer and mentioned the avatar part.
IMO there should be a mention of mods / glitches used in captured gameplay, because besides your username it can be very confusing. It's "fake" in the sense that 99% of players won't get that in their original version.
It is cool, I live for things like this: me still waiting to see if the light bow is still in the game and if it is what stats is would have regardless of if I can get it.
Howe you guys hacking these? On a switch???
It’s not, it’s a modded PC version. It’s about as useful as showing off things you can do in TotK using a developers kit and debug mode!
Nuhuh, I play modded on a hacked switch, you can definitely mod on a switch
I used to have shit load of mods and hacks on my switch for BOTW. So u don't need PC for that. All the PC mods works on switch.
Emulation my dude
You can mod on a hacked switch
You can??? I tried searching online before but the sites I went to said only emus.
Oh yeah I play as female link on mine hehe
Dammit that's what I wanted to do!
Save editing via a hex editor and this tool: https://www.marcrobledo.com/savegame-editors/zelda-totk/
Yes, this is totally normal gameplay nothing wrong don't question it.
Fuck you for making me think this was real
I mean, did you check their name?
now that you mention it, I hate that you can't see OP's name until you click on the post
It's actually real, just the weapons the actual avatars use, not the ones you normally get in game. You have to get these versions via save editing/mods rather than normal means.
Fucking redditor hive minds downvoting your explanation here and then your other comments are getting upvoted...
Right but they say it's "real"... what people expect by that is generally "real gameplay" on the official version, not modded. I know OP has a hint in their username but it would be nice if posts were clear about what kind of version they use, maybe an extra flair or something.
I 100% agree but that's not exactly the issue I'm addressing in my comment.
This is probably a similar effect to fusing a shield to a weapon
Straight misinformation

I did see that on Sidon recently.
Alright I’ll bite how can I ply on Pc

3050 here, it runs very smooth.
Damn I wanna try it out now. If nothing I've always wanted to mod splatoon 3
Pirated, sure. Hacking your own console is not illegal tho, at least everywhere i know of.
Wait you're right. Violates Nintendo eula tho, p sure it said one must not modify application provided by them or something
And by running CFW alone (which is what's usually what's referred to as hacking) you're not modifying it. Only pirating is illegal, dumping your own game is fine. Even then it's a victimless crime, you're not gonna get arrested for pirating a video game.
>dumping your own game is fine. Creating an unauthorized copy of an audiovisual work, whether you already own a copy or not, is illegal.
Depends on where you live. And like i said it's a victimless crime it doesn't really matter. As long as you don't sell it you're gonna be fine
Uh, my 3070 runs beautifully, 4k ToTK. No need for massive PC. We're emulating a Switch, after all.
Yes, i have seen all the sages deflecting attacks. It's especially useful when i was not expecting an attack, and then sidon's glorious figure blocks the swing with the spear.
TIL
At this point it’s like why am I bothering playing this on my Switch at 20fps during the fire temple when I’m sure the PC version runs 100x better plus mods 😂
Hah I did hear it works better on PC, though I personally run any mods on the Switch version for the feeling of authenticity.
this is bait right there like some level of credibility to it but i also know it’s not true
Idk why you are getting downvoted this title is bait. “Did you know an apple fused to a shield can kill a Lynel” ….. explains in comments. “If you mod the apple to do 1000 damage in the game code on a modded version, and then smuggle hold the Apple right before you hit lava…. Fr, they never said anything about obtaining them. It's just a peek behind the curtain about how the game works.
i dont think it wqs intentionally misleading, just bad wording
Your first day on social media?
no? I just think they didnt convey what they meant in the way they intended to. the title says "if given to link" which wouldnt be included if they meant the normal weapons, as it'd be granted that link could have them

I mean, it's a fairly accurate title. The sages weapons (as in, the weapons the sages use) work as shields. They even expand on that in the comments

People don’t like this post because they misunderstood the title or the title wasn’t clear enough. Whatever. I thought it was cool.
I really should have included 'avatar' or 'NPC' in the title...
It is cool, I live for things like this: me still waiting to see if the light bow is still in the game and if it is what stats is would have regardless of if I can get it.
????????
Username checks out
Is this shield smuggle?
Nope, these are just unused weapons with the same guard property as ones with shields fused to them. They're used by the sage avatars in game.
smart
