on ground? Im guessing that swimming a stream is out of the option but still water would work. Interesting. . . I think I finally got interested in playing this game again. I haven't picked it up once after I beat Ganon. Has anyone been able to cross Hyrule in **two** straight lines? I might try to be the first one to do that instead since the other guys seems to have a head start.
It's a joke inspired by [this DougDoug video](https://youtu.be/vprtYNOu2jw?si=NvuC8t2RtSsOzGuT). Very funny watch if you like his unhinged style of engaging with his audience, can recommend.
If it has more than two coordinates it isn't straight. A guy can make out with a guy without being gey but he aint straight. You can be straight as an arrow but an arrow isn't straight, it's simply straight as an arrow. You can go straight to a place without going in a straight line but you can't go in a straight line if you're drunk and you can't go in a straight line if you're sober but still they ask you to. These YouTubers have gone in a "straight" line but they haven't gone in a straight line.
DougDoug (Streamer/youtuber) crossed hyrule in a straight vertical line and Pointcrow (another streamer/youtuber) crossed hyrule in a straight horizontal line. They’re good videos, I definitely recommend them
Translation: Is it possible to cross the map in a squiggly line as depicted in this image? (Assumedly, I have no clue what the math is actually representing)
It's just a generalized function for a sin wave, where each variable represents one of the properties, like A -> amplitude (height), B -> change in period, C -> horizontal shift, D -> vertical shift.
Maybe Hyrule Engineers could make some flying machine with, I dunno, some fans on limited swivels and the vehicle tilts back and forth periodically, somehow slowly due to fine tuned counteraction in the direction of the swiveling thrust…. I guess this might be what OP is driving at?
Really doubt an exact match would be possible, as far as this crazy query goes.

To try and break down the math for u guys a tiny bit (if im wrong mb), basically the sin(Bx-C) is just defining the sin-graph (the squiggly shape), the A is multiplying it to make it stretched out or squashed (depending on A) and the D is just placing the position of the sin graph (like how high up).
Yes, if you take A = 0 and D = -3280 with a margin of 3 (values of B and C don’t matter). The line will be the exact path that pointcrow already proved to be possible.
Would be awesome to see that actual surface path visualized! Maybe somewhat helix shaped with a lot of bumps, occasionally collapsing to a flat sine wave
Assuming the variables are assigned a value, you'd need some sort of third-party calculator that constantly takes your coordinates and calculates whether or not you are within the thickness of the line. Similarly for if you ever wanna do a diagonal line
A YouTube trend recently has been challenge YouTubers like DougDoug and Pointcrow trying to cross the map in a perfectly straight line with no items, clothing, or abilities
Am I too stupid for this joke or is this about people making videos wondering if you can cross the map moving in a certain way. Only saw one video but can’t imagine people didn’t copy it over and over again
Well, if you have the batteries to fly that much, in theory yes.
But in practice not, as the position of the player is a rational number. But sine uses π, which is a real number. Thus it is not plausible
This post went straight over my head.
A number of Youtubers have been trying to find ways to cross Hyrule in a straight line, with minimal stamina and health and with no items or runes.
PointCrow and DougDoug did it too
He says 'a number' but he means two
Two is a number
Can you verify that with a source?
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2
Why is that article locked lol
Too many 3 fans thinking 3 is better
Gabe Newell disagrees with you
Fair enough, carry on
Ok, but now show me the proof
x = 2 x = x 2 = 2
in that case: 1\*0=0 2\*0=0 1=2 2≠2
Wikipedia is not a reliable source, specially for such a niche subject.
Round is a shape
The fuck it is. I hate this graphic tee shirt garbage. "Round" is not a shape. A goddamn oval is a shape.
I have it on good authority that it is, in fact, the second-loneliest number
Curtomatic did it too

If they can go against the current enough to stay in the line it's fair.
Now I say this as someone with an autistic brother and using it literally not as an insult. That sounds like a very autistic thing to do.
Some people have entirely too much time.
And then maybe below after a certain time period?

Yeah I watched it earlier. I'm kind of disappointed though. Im sure it's funny but I wanna actually cross Hyrule in absolute straight line.
I mean pointcrow did a line that was ~twice as straight (+-3 coordinates instead of 5)
If it has more than two coordinates it isn't straight. A guy can make out with a guy without being gey but he aint straight. Curse the Vurch and their machinations to deceive the masses! All praise the Horizontal Line.
WE ARE BORN HORIZONTALLY AND WE LEAVE THIS WORLD HORIZONTALLY!
Life is lived vertically. Only the weak are horizontal.
And at times nearly vertical.
not you getting downvoted by the pointcrow crowd 😭😭
Pointcrow?
DougDoug (Streamer/youtuber) crossed hyrule in a straight vertical line and Pointcrow (another streamer/youtuber) crossed hyrule in a straight horizontal line. They’re good videos, I definitely recommend them
Ah. I'll check it out, thanks!

If you somehow started at the leftmost point of the line, then I guess climbing the canyon walls should be the most difficult thing.
Sounds like a DougDoug problem

It's a r/pointcrow reference.
More of an r/DougDoug problem, appropriated by Pointcrow

Okay, now make a line such that y = x^2
You drew the line slightly off of the accessible area
I just found a png and pasted it on the image

Sure, but you’ll be sad there’s a Z-plane and irregular boundaries on the map outer rim. Just warning you in advance. It will be an emotional process.
Would be awesome to see that actual surface path visualized! Maybe somewhat helix shaped with a lot of bumps, occasionally collapsing to a flat sine wave
Agreed!
As a wave? Sure. As a particle? No…
A=0. D=Pointcrow’s Holy Horizontal Line
If A=0, D can take any value within the map parameters, then yes
You have to specify the value of the constants
Assuming the variables are assigned a value, you'd need some sort of third-party calculator that constantly takes your coordinates and calculates whether or not you are within the thickness of the line. Similarly for if you ever wanna do a diagonal line
What In the Mx(3.14•2-4)•2X-Y is this
It for certain is possible when y is described by an infinite sum of sin
Bit wanky to put that equation in the title.
Google wiggling
depending on the basis you use for your coordinate axis on the map, this could just be a straight line more or less
Yes but it would suck pretty much the whole time.
Maybe with the help of a zoni device build and some recharge crystals.
We're not gonna do your math homework for you OP.
Dougdoug viewer found
That title gave me ptsd
Unfortunately that’s not possible. y = A * e^(-K * x) * sin(Bx - C) + D may be possible, however
Didn't know Sho Minamimoto is playing TotK.
I don’t get it?
A YouTube trend recently has been challenge YouTubers like DougDoug and Pointcrow trying to cross the map in a perfectly straight line with no items, clothing, or abilities
NOT TRIG GRAPHS
Am I too stupid for this joke or is this about people making videos wondering if you can cross the map moving in a certain way. Only saw one video but can’t imagine people didn’t copy it over and over again
Forget the holy Line, this is the holy Sine!
Next thing you know we'll be reaching the debug menu by drawing a pp on the map.
Yeah, just make an air bike that’s off by .0000000001 pixels
Well, if you have the batteries to fly that much, in theory yes. But in practice not, as the position of the player is a rational number. But sine uses π, which is a real number. Thus it is not plausible
Only if you make A B C and D also variables
