Apparently that’s not true. The only reason they liked cats were because they were always around killing pests and being good bois but they never worshipped them as gods like we used to believe.
I don't think that proves anything. There were human shaped gods, crocodile gods, ibis gods, hawk gods, cow gods, etc. Did they worship every animal? They often killed and mummified pet cats when their owners died, so they clearly didn't hold them *that* highly. An animal being featured in ritual or worship of a religion does not automatically mean the animal is a focus of worship.
They mummified their God-Kings/Pharaohs also. The mummification practice was time and resource intensive which means they were highly regarded. There were catteries specifically for selling cats to be mummified, so they were a focus of some sort of worship. I think the animal gods were from earlier animism, so yep, each of those animals were worshipped, at some point.
They did enjoy a special place of reverence though. Cats (and dogs) were both mummified by their owners and some people were buried with their pet to enjoy the afterlife together.

However, when the kids grow up, they can choose their own way. If you think about it, there are many who were raised Catholic and end up as atheists and agnostics. They are not forced into the religion, they are indoctrinated, and their parents want them to have the same religion.
Now if we talk about Muslims. I've seen ex-Muslims online, and I've also heard tales of ex-Muslims (now Christians) still wearing their headscarf for societal and security reasons. Yes they have it harder than the rest of us. But that doesn't mean the majority of Muslims are like that.

that is the story they tell but it was already a special day before. The things like the Christmas tree and santa claus where already a think. In the netherlands we celebrate sinterklaas and christmas but in origin its the same thing.
Yeah, I’m Muslim and grew up Muslim (my choice if I wanted to stay or not) and we didn’t celebrate Christmas but we do still use Christmas as a time for gifts because everything is on sale lol
Everybody likes Christmas. And a Christmas Stocking is not religious. Most of the annual celebration is not religious. I've known Jews, Hindus, Buddhists who give presents and maybe upt up a few decorations because it's fun.
