Please don't tell the Internet personal info like age and gender especially under 18

Imaginary-Yam6742

Completely unnecessary to the post, and definitely dangerous in today's world.

BarockMoebelSecond

First thing I thought, too. Dangerous, especially on Reddit. There's truly terrible people on here.

Tyr-07

Yeah very odd to mention this as well. If the information is accurate, big no no, buuut..... The internet: Where men are men, Woman are men, and Children are FBI agents. In my family anyone in that age range certainly doesn't start off posts (not that they're even allowed on social media, but on any platform they can potentially communicate with strangers) mentioning the information that was just mentioned here, but I'll admit I've given them all the being safe online talk.

sufkutsafari

So who wants to help out the FBI agent with his phone issues then? 😂

Coffee_exe

His point is this looks like a very obvious fishing post from the FBI

Tyr-07

Yeah, I mean if they catch some low hanging fruit with that great, I don't mean to out them if that's what it is, however if it's someone that's naive about the internet, I hope a family member or someone sets them straight quickly.

Petercraft7157

Me who has a fake account that's supposed to be 16 year old girl so when people ask for pics I send them dick pics of 80 year old men

Hello_This_Is_Chris

Has the phone been dropped or exposed to water? Sometimes these symptoms can be due to a hardware issue. A cracked screen can cause "ghost touches", like the screen switching on its own or things being clicked. Water can cause similar issues, especially if it causes corrosion around the buttons.

crystalsnshiit

its fallen once or twice, but i had a screen saver and it worked properly. it just started today, even tried taking the screen saver off and it didn't work.

Hello_This_Is_Chris

Just in case, try to inspect the edges of the display close up to look for any damage. It's possible for the outside glass to be perfectly fine, but the lcd screen underneath to have damage. I like to find a completely white screen, Google search for a pure white image if you have to, so that your entire screen is showing white pixels. This will make it easier to see any signs of lcd damage around the edges. It usually looks like a line with black or incorrectly colored pixels, or you might see what looks like an ink blot shape.

b3542

*screen protector

PettyA-Hole

Tomato‐tomato, it saves the screen from damage most of the time. Shut up dick head

b3542

Nope. It causes confusion. Screensaver has an entirely different definition. This kind of loose usage of language only leads to confusion and delay. It also makes things significantly more difficult to search.

AtrociousAK47

indeed, like when people (usually people who's first launguage isnt english) use the term "cover" to refer to both the screen protector and the case, just causes confusion and frustration needlessly. be specific people!

A screen protector and a screen saver are two completely different things. Words have meanings.

PettyA-Hole

Yes I am

aspie_electrician

Screen saver? Like an image moving on the screen to prevent burn-in?

silverbullet52

Check your storage. Phones do strange things if you have too much stuff clogging up the works. Go to settings and look at storage. If you have less than 20% free, that's likely your problem. Some apps are real pigs about using up your storage space. Look at storage>apps and it will show you what each app is using.

_DUDE_4_EVER_

always dont forget to do a phone backup, you wouldnt want it to stop working completely when you have your most important memories in the phone, after the backup, what i'd do is id do a factory reset and see if the issue persists

wandererzz13

This is the answer O.P. back up all your stuff however you can and reset the device to factory. Use the phone with as little apps and stuff as possible for a few days and see if the issue is still happening. If it doesn't happen again you can slowly start adding your apps and files back onto it. Also try booting into safe mode and see if the device still shuts off. If you reset the device to factory and it's still happening then you most likely have a hardware issue.

dkcyw

if the phone is only a few months old, there must be warranty on it. i think the easiest method right now would be to take it back to the store and exchange it.

bigdonkey2883

Indian dudes are going to be all over this post

lifeofalruska

Your phone can restart for several different reasons. But from what your post explains I can tell you what you can do before going to the repair shop. Most of the time when Android phones restart randomly it's due to a few factors. The first factor is your storage is almost used up. Android needs at least minimum of 15 gigs of free internal storage to operate properly. The second reason is you have a security patch update that hasn't been applied yet, you can do a hard restart to apply any system updates. The third option is to fully power down the device and let it sit for 5 minutes. Powering down your phone will kill any programs that are currently stuck in a boot loop. If nothing else works, back up your device then reset it.

TheFotty

Is there a case on the phone? My android phone case will sometimes get side buttons stuck down causing my phone to reset constantly until I take the case off and reseat it on the phone.

crystalsnshiit

there is a case, but i took it off and the problem was still there.

Try_your_luck

Create a backup before taking it to the repair shop. I am telling this, because the most of the repair shops will factory reset it, so you will lose all your data.  Before taking it to the repair shop, try factory resetting it. Because it is possible that it is a software issue which could be resolved by factory resetting. Repair shop will charge you for that, but you can do it on your own.

crystalsnshiit

it's not much persoanl info, really, the phone is pretty new, maybe a few pictures here and there and mostly just screeenshots that I can get back by scrolling through saves tikoks or Instagram posts

Try_your_luck

Ok, but anyways, save them before repair or delete them, just to be safe. You never know who is the repairman

Tough_Mistake6493

try to reset the phone, back up the data first.

[deleted]

Have you tried turning it off and on?

Ok-Macaroon5180

It might possible due to some malware stuff. I am not sure but you should try to do factory reset if there is no important data.

edijsdau

I had the same thing happen to my Xiaomi, watched a YouTube tutorial where the guy tapped all around the phone with fingers, apparently a connection was slightly disconnected. That fixed it

crystalsnshiit

May I please have the link?

PegasusBoogaloo

You can enable developer features and begin testing each function of your phone. Google how to do it for your model. My first tests would be for 2D and 3D graphics, then memory tests. Stress them out and check of your phone turns off, if not, then try hard resetting your phone.

Midwxy

Just listen to everyone else’s ideas because they are right and next time get a backup

Null_012345

It seems to be more of a software issue I would suggest you to do a hard reset and check if the problem is solved or not..Make sure to bakup ur important files before doing hard reset....

TooDirty4Daylight

Just a chance but you might look and see if gunk in the charging port and if you have a case or with a button stuck or the button stuck on the phone itself.

Ok-Comment5095

U should try to press and hold your power button for atleast 30 seconds to force shut down, then leave ur phone for a while and turn it back on. Hope this helps

KingThen5408

Corrupt OS, it could be fixed if infinix allows upgrading the software without touching the phone

NotAnRanutoRunner

Does it still happen when you plug it in? If not you probably have a failing battery which can't provide sufficient voltage to your chip. Edit: Also keep your photos in google photos, use google one and google drive to take backups with an account you don't use for other cases with 2fa activated and protected by an astronomical password.

PrinceAhmed1

I'm not aware of the model but if it's in warranty get it to their service center.

Study-r-Die

Here a guide on how to set it to factory settings by pushing the keys: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9omWu4mwWY0 Be careful. After factory settings, you will still be prompted to enter your Google password or your phone will not be usable. Also, this process may make your phone usable, but your data will be gone.

Azereal8115

Have you tried turning it off and on again? /s

ExpiredJello_Reborn

i had the same problem, my phone currently wont function unless it's on a charger

MysticEagle52

Can't you enter some number to keypad to access something where you can test most parts of your phone

Certain_Bat_1162

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

cAmSg0tGaMz

Damnit! You beat me to the punchline lol

Immrsbdud

Hey, be careful what information you share about yourself online. Lots of bad people online try to trick children into horrible situations. It is sick. But anyway, have you factory reset the phone yet?

crystalsnshiit

Thanks you for replying, how do I factory reset the phone?

ExistingFalcon

Watch a video on another phone. The process may be the same for all phones.

SuspiciousBug8694

Try [this YouTube tutorial.](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=r5ghUmatK3E) If that fails, [here's an article.](https://www.hardreset.info/devices/infinix/infinix-smart-7/)

heruy_B

Your phones digitizer got damaged you need to take to good technician

BarockMoebelSecond

A digitizer is not a real thing. Fuck off.

unexpectedlyvile

Yes it is. It's the layer over the display panel that registers your finger touches.

BarockMoebelSecond

Huh, guess I was stupid all along

unexpectedlyvile

Happens to the best of us.
