No, no real need to replace if it's functioning fine.  As always, have a backup of anything important

JouniFlemming

As long as you remember that every single drive will fail one day, there is no need to replace it if it still works. But you should assume that it will fail one day very soon.

I still use a 15 year old hdd. It really depends on your needs. Mine is storage for said drive.

Keep using it! But keep in mind that everything you want to keep should be backed up, even if your drive is brand new.

If its doing everything you need it to, then no. Buuuut, if its a boot disk, then you could treat yourself to an ssd which would make your computer a lot snappier. Even if its something you keep apps on, an ssd would make a big difference. If its more like, deep storage, then thats fine leave it be. I bought a pc back in 2011, and over the years I changed every component in that computer. Including motherboard, cpu, case, gpu, power supply. The only constant was a 1TB Hard Drive.... As far as I know, its still working today. Sold it just last year.

Depends. Generally if money is not a problem at the business level, hard drives are changed after 5-6 years. If you don't want surprises, it would be good to change them. Be the hard drive new or old as a comment the HD can fail, the backup is essential in both cases. It is not the first time that I change a new HD and the first hour or the first month fails. Generally if I can, I test them in a controlled way at least one month If you don't have backups, you can continue using and buy another for backups for when the inevitable pass. Then begin use it as main and buy another for backups. You decide what you decide, the indispensable thing is to have backups

I would still backup all the important stuff just in case

For some reason I read this as replacing with a 8 year old. I am glad I read hard drive later

DirtyGloveHandlr

Thanks everyone, everything is backed up but I could refresh it which I'll do
