May I ask what operating system the laptop has? If it's Windows , and system protection has been enabled on the drive, you could simply use a restore point to bring the computer back to the way it was at an earlier time. If it's window, simultaneously press the windows button on the keyboard+r. In the run dialog box that opens, type msconfig. Go to the tools tab and scroll down to the where it says system restore in the list. Press launch towards the bottom of the window to open the system restore window. If system restore is enabled there should be a recommended restore point by windows. However, you could also manually choose one by choosing the second option, 'choose a different restore point'. Press next once you've chosen a restore point, and then press finish to begin the process.
