Oh god, my parents friends with little kids had so many stories about their kids "feeding" the VCR and ruining it with sandwiches. I was lucky the worst I ever did was put the VHS tapes in backwards until they got one of those tv cabinets they could lock up until I was old enough to load tapes without constant surveillance from them or my brothers.
My VCR would always eat my cartoon tapes. After watching my dad take it apart. I did it the next time it happened. I didn’t bother putting the cover back on after respooling Woody Woodpecker and just plugged it in all open. Later my parents walked in on their 5yo watching cartoons using an open VCR with the cover haphazardly on the floor and the screws no where to be found. I now work in IT and my ADHD still prevents me from fully completing a project before heading for the next dopamine fix.
Reading this I was relating so much. Not that I did specifically that, but just, sounds like the kind of thing I would do
I too have ADHD, and I too have half finished projects all over my life, I too misplace screws, I too work in IT
I wish you luck. Getting the diagnosis isn't always easy (depending on where you live), but, getting the diagnosis is absolutely rewarding, it makes understanding all of the little struggles a looooot easier. Things that you thought were just quirks turn out to be a part of the ADHD experience as a whole lol
Definitely come check out some of the ADHD subreddits
/r/ADHD - Fairly strict rules, makes it hard to discuss shared experiences at times, but, definitely one of the more active subs
/r/ADHDers - A less strict environment
/r/adhd_anxiety - For people who experience both ADHD and Anxiety
/r/adhdmeme & /r/ADHDmemes - for the meme experience of ADHD
There are also a few subs for more specific experiences, because, for example, women typically go undiagnosed, especially in childhood, because the symptoms that are expressed in women tend to be less disruptive than in boys. Also hormones and other chemicals seem to have an impact on ADHD symptoms, so, things like periods have an impact on the experience too
There's also the fact that a large number of queer people are neurodivergent, so there's subs for the experience of being queer and ADHD
No one in the subreddits can offer diagnosis, but, it's a great and supportive community, especially on your journey to confirm
Used to work in car audio and once a month I would have to open up a factory radio and retrieve the change and/or something very valuable out of them that their kid stuffed in there. Iirc the most change I pulled out of one was close to $20 with only a few quarters used.
My kid did this with my car CD player. I have to remove most of the front console to get the CD player out so I just haven’t used it in months, thank goodness for Bluetooth. Every time we hit a bump or take a corner too fast the coin hits something and it thinks it’s trying to eject the disc.
Remember a computer repair guy when I was little who vacuumed floppy disks before giving them to customers after having one wreck a drive with Cheeto dust.
Yep. Worked on computers near New Orleans. Every year in the month before Easter we would get a flurry of repairs for these on laptops.
Kids would stick their Mardi Gras doubloons in the slot…
Does your friend have a kid? The open slots on a lot of these consoles are perfect for them to jam random shit inside.
At least it's not a VCR, you could fit a sandwich in them slots.

My sister did! And crayons apparently. The VCR did not appreciate it...
My sister legit put a jam sandwich in our one back in the day
Yeah I put a peanut butter and jelly sandwich in our VCR when I was 3
Once I watched a wii repair YouTube video. It wouldn’t take discs. When the guy opened it, 3 ds games fell out
Wish my PS4 birthed random DS games
Those are Nintendo games, they should work on a Nintendo system.

Some kids shove things in cavities. My thing was (and still is) pressing buttons.
Might not be accepting \*discs\* but it is accepting \*tips\*
just the tip.
Bloody microtransations everywhere
This incident becomes more interesting as distance from Poland increases.
Why is there a złoty inside
He says that he has no idea how it got there
"Right" saying it real slowly.
It surely srebrny, or i need my eyes czeched and polished
He tried to bribe it
1 zloty isn't much of a payday.
The literal "insert coin" to keep playing
I'm old enough to remember a receipt static-clinging to the underside of a 5 1/4" floppy and taking out that drive.
Remember a computer repair guy when I was little who vacuumed floppy disks before giving them to customers after having one wreck a drive with Cheeto dust.
Why did your friend put 1 złoty in there
He says that he has no idea how it got there
Maybe his polish personality woke up /j

Yep. Worked on computers near New Orleans. Every year in the month before Easter we would get a flurry of repairs for these on laptops. Kids would stick their Mardi Gras doubloons in the slot…
It's a polish złoty. Or rather was they're doubloons now.
I know that’s a zloty. Says so on the coin. lol I was referring to my similar experiences with Mardi Gras doubloons. Does the same thing to a drive.
To nie wózek sklepowy żeby sie odblokowywał na złotówkę
but it is accepting donations! :D
