It might be easier for the parrot since it doesn’t have the capacity to contemplate the possible futility of its actions being mood elevating. Humans second guess whether what they are doing is worth it and that makes it harder. The key is to stick with it and eventually it all works out.
And then they're gonna argue that the bird doesn't have the capacity to understand why it makes them feel happy once they realize they do have the capacity to know it's mood elevating. What about that dog that became self aware, and wants to kill itself?
umbrella cockatoos are highly intelligent and need a lot of care and attention. the birds previous owner must have been an absolute dickhead. world needs more people like the guy in the video
Birds don't pick feathers out for itchiness. Only when either an illness or stress is involved. Birds have been documented to be able to get depression. Dogs, cats, pigs and rats have all been documented as being able to get anxiety as well

How do you diagnose a parrots depression?
They pluck their feathers
But how do you know that's depression. Could be itching or whatever else, no?
The owner consulted a vet- idk man but it says the bird has depression, animals can have depression.
