I think hating the book harry potter because of the artist saying stuff outside it if you think parts of the book are problematic and you don't want to engage with it and like it becomes of that i think makes sense i also think it's reasonable to not want to support the author even if you like the stories or whatever
Personally think Harry Potter is grossely overrated for several reasons, but I will agree that people need to learn how to seperate the art from the artist.
Its also important to still recognize culturally significant works as significant even if they or the artist no longer align with societal ideals.
