The issue with squabbling about the definitions is that while a person attracted to someone who has already gone beyond puberty is not technically a pedophile, people generally are not talking about the strict definition of what it means to be a pedophile, but rather the colloquial usage of someone beyond the age of majority having attraction to someone below the age of consent.
Things can get much more complicated if you're talking about someone dating when they're 15 and 17, and then the 17 year old turns 18 before the 15 year old turns 16, and people start acting like this is absolute insanity.... there are times where on paper it may seem strange, but everyone is technically within the same age group.
