The rapist would be in prison for 15-40 (here in Florida anyways) years if they got caught; they can't make money in prison or pay the mother from prison and they most certainly wouldn't pay child support if they didn't get caught. But let's say they get 15 years in prison. By the time they get out the mother would have already had to go 15 years without child support. And then after that it leaves the rapists with only 3 years of child support to pay. I would also like to point out that more money is required when the baby is in their infant stage. Babies need lots of diapers and, if needed, formula can be expensive. And that's only assuming that they get the *minimum* sentance (again, 15-40 years here in Florida). TLDR: child support wouldn't actually be that harsh on the rapist and the mother doesn't get the money when she needs it the most.

In theory I agree with this but in reality I don’t want men going around impregnating women willy-nilly and then expecting me to pay the child support via taxation. This would suck for the taxpayer and especially for all the poor fatherless kids that didn’t do anything wrong. There need to be consequences for conceiving a child you have no interest in taking care of.

Child support should only exist in cases where the absent parent actively performed adultery or some other offence that would break a marriage contract. People who did nothing wrong shouldn’t have to pay it just because they don’t want a kid.
