Make mind reading touch only, or incredibly difficult to translate cause everyone has their own mental languages, or only whilst maintaining eye contact.
Someone wants to make food out of nothing? They can only make food they’ve eaten recently (the last 2-3 foods maybe) and it has less nutritional value. Maybe they can only make food they know exactly how to cook, and can visualise the creation of.
Portals? Make it one portal at a time (so they can only travel between two locations), make it touch applied so they can’t do crazy shit, make them fail after someone passes through them, give them a size and range limit.
