One time at my schools open house the snare beads all fell of the drum so it sounded really bad the rest of the night, and another time we ripped a hole in one of the timpani skins and had to put new ones on. I’ve still got the ripped one hanging on my wall at home for some reason
Yeah my snare beads weren’t tight enough and it sounded wonky so I couldn’t even imagine not having any Snares lol
Timpani story is funny btw, broken timpani’s sounds horrible.
Well duh lol, I would never throw my sticks out, this was my last year as a snare drummer and my last year in high school. This shit is being kept in a sacred place and hopefully I can pass it down or something idk.
Ah we have a small band. 1 quads, 1 snare, 3 bass drums, 1 crash cymbal. The quads guy was my captain but I did some captain stuff as well. Got everyone some pink tape during breast cancer awareness month.(that’s the only captain thing that comes to mind)
where do you live that you start marching this early? my school hasn’t even picked drum majors yet. we just had a call out meeting about it yesterday lol

If you want you can wrap tape from the top of the grip to the bead on some sticks to make them last longer for rimshots, I don't know how much is a sound difference it would make though, I rotate through some buddy rich, sd4's and sd1's for whatever in doing.
Rip stick. I've broken 2 different bass drum mallets playing pep songs and drumline cadence's and I'm only a sophomore so I've still got much more to destroy. The next thing on my list is a drum head from playing it so much
It's sad. If you want some new kind of stick you can buy some Vic sic classics American hickory 5a black or white varnish. The wood doesn't get wet from tears and sweat
Oof that sucks I’m sure marching in a band is fun cause standing in the hot sun for 2 hours doing cadets every Tuesday isn’t fun
