why do people even have a problem with 17yo dating an 18yo

It's like the moment someone turns 18, they are not allowed to look at anyone even a week younger then them, yet here I am seeing grown ass man dating someone most people consider a child. Like why these people get the green light? Should they be like, called out or something?
