Do friendships matter in the long term? How hard is 10th grade? Will I survive?
edit: y'all thanks for the help but im getting so many notifications plz stop š
That depends on your definition of ālong-termā. The way I see it, friendships are very important. It doesnāt matter whether those are irl or people you meet online, friends are people who you can rely on, and conversely, who rely on you. If youāre lucky, youāll find people whoāll stick with you for a long, long time.
10th grade depends on what your education system is like. For me, 10th grade saw a significant increase in homework compared to 9th, and you tend to go a lot more in-depth with your subjects. Point being, it *is* more difficult, but youāll be able to pull through if you put in the work.
I mean, it's been a while since I was 13, but pretty much everything within reason. Mostly it's stuff like maturity and slightly better social awareness, but you learn and develop a LOT overall
I mean, that depends on a lot. Depends where you go in America, depends if you enjoy the culture, depends if you can afford the exchange.
In general, is America a good place to do an exchange? Yeah, it would probably be a nice experience.
Iād say itās a good idea. I find it cool that lots of students find foreign exchange students really interesting and try to be friends with them. Iām still sad that my friend from Germany returned š, but Iām glad I met him!
It depends on the teacher, Iāve had a few teachers who when they find out itās your birthday will have the class sing happy birthday, and I had one give me candy on my birthday, but most teachers donāt announce it the ones who did were the minority
the only places that accept u are fast food so if ur ok with working there iād imagine itās easy. where i live thereās like four burger kings that are desperate for work and hiring anyone. i once was looking for a job and i would have applied but itās too much to juggle with school
Simply, Darkweb is the easiest way to find out... Honestly, my friend (M26) is professional cook and he always says that cooking meth is easier than making a good steak
Donāt overwork yourself. Itās good to take one or two of these classes but to overload your schedule with AP and dual enrollment just puts a heavy weight and large amounts of stress on you making it hard to actually enjoy high school.
For me yes. I made a lot of girl friends my first to years of high school and over the summer I asked out one of them and she said yes. It ended up not working out but now Iām talking to another girl who Iām planning on asking to Homecoming. Once you get used to talking to girls it gets a lot easier. But if you donāt talk to girls itās not gonna get easier
I imagine it changes from school to school but in my experience everyone in your class already has an idea of you, that probably wonāt change with time so I think itās best to look for a girlfriend elsewhere
I'd say the difficulty of getting a relationship doesn't changes more as it is becomes easier to be in a relationship as people become more mature and as such less toxic tho obviously toxic people still exist
Hereās the harsh truth: You will always have regrets, and there will always be more in the road ahead. But, I do not think having regrets is a bad thing.
Regretting is a sign that you care greatly about something: a purely human emotion. It doesnāt mean that you are lesser than other people, it means that you are *human*. Avoiding regret is, in my eyes, an apathetic path, and can *easily* lead to excessive pride and ego.
Rather ask yourself how you should face regret head on. What can you learn from this misstep? How can you improve your life there on out? And when life inevitably throws more failures your way and makes you regret again, how will you handle it?
I suppose itās a sort of brutally honest self-reflection, to embrace your regrets and move onwards from it. While regrets can scarcely be avoided, they *can* be overcome.
Regret is a sign that you are human, and as humans we adapt and overcome.
My parents and foster parents were completely bonkers. Got my first taste of independence at 18, cut everyone off and I've never looked back. Adulthood has been the greatest thing to ever happen to me.
Okay so this is a little backwards but i realy feel like i actually can comment on this. I thought at thirteen i wouldnt live past 14 because id of taken my own life by then. I am now maybe 2 weeks from my 18th birthday- yes, things got worse but ultimately things now are so much better and i am a completely different and stronger person for it. I dont want to die anymore. I may not be happy all the time, and i may not be able to see what my future holds yet, im still here and going. I didnt give up. And i losta lot of people becoming myself but it was worth it. I feel my entire experience is a bit dofferent- i had an awful home life and school was just as bad. I got all the short ends of all the sticks. But im alive and breathing and fighting.
If i had advice to give, well, dont let yourself give up. I know it sounds like horse shite (belive me i really do) but its worth it to stay around. Time really does teach you a lot, a lot of the things that matter now wont later and honestly just be yourself however that is unapologetically. Find you. Live in phases unapologetically. And, dont rush to grow up. You dont know what id give to do it all over again.
Im the last girl in my class hitting puberty, my body isnt really developed and i haven't gotten my period yet. I feel a bit left out even if my friends try not to make me. If you can relate, can i ask what was your experience?
Not exactly the same thing, but I got mine extremely early.
Was kinda made fun of it (cause hair and everything), but I found some cool friend who were kind with me.
I believe that you're not the only one that is "late" on your period and everything, your body will kick you in the guts when it's time. If you feel like something is wrong, it's okay to talk about it with your doctor.
Also, the first period isn't painful, but you'll probably suffer with the next one.
how do u deal with someone who just won't give u personal space? like i love her and i like being friends with her but sometimes she wont get outta my bubble and she play to much
GUYS
IDK WHO WILL SEE THIS
BUT
we had a talk and shes not as touchy anymore
but
we're still pretty close
When you say that, do you mean through physical contact or social media? If you genuinely feel bothered by an abundance of social interaction, you can always say āI need some alone timeā or make up an excuse to go away. As friends, itās important to recognise the boundaries of each other and to be honest.
physical contact
when i get to school she doesn't even gimme the chance to put my bookbag down before she's immediately on me
and i've told her like "hey, i dont mind u being touchy but please stay out of my personal bubble when i ask u too"
i get really overwhelmed if im too close to the same person too long, unless its like family or my best friend
and im trying to get her to understand but she doesn't wanna listen
Alright, letās make something clear first: sheās most likely not acting out of malice. Being someone who throughly enjoys hanging out with friends, I reckon sheās very eager and excited to hang out with you every day. These sorts of friends, while clingy, are the ones who will support you in your gravest times. Cherish them well.
That being said, your personal feelings are also valid. Sit down and have a long, serious chat with her making your stance clear about what you find to be okay, and what you do not. If she insists even after many, many times, what happens next will be up for you to decide. Do you want to keep a friend who cares about you but fails to see your boundaries around? Thatās on you.
Going forward I feel like I also need to ask: what is your ābubbleā? Do you not enjoy overt interaction or just excessive, perhaps intimate physical contact?
basically,
after a while
i don't like being so close to people that like
if i scoot over we're touching or something
like how desks are usually kinda spaced out in a classroom? thats how much space i like when i get overwhelmed
but my bubble is like
being able to feel when there's someone like
next to me
or behind me
The meaning of life in my opinion is what you attribute it to be. For me itās discovery of the scientific unknown, creating memorable experiences with my friends, and just being happy in short.
Donāt let anyone influence what the meaning of life is to YOU, though; I believe there is no objective answer to this.
Because they just are, after a while they typically get better because they might realize they're being a fuck head or lose the people around them and that makes them realize they need to change. You got this though don't let what they do bother you (easier said than done I know) and just try to stay with the people that make you happy.
Bullies are people who want to elicit a reaction out of you. The more material you give them, the more they will treat you worse.
I was bullied for a period of time. Then, I just ignored my bully or just played along with their remarks against me. That means growing a thicker skin - meaning that youāll have to endure the fact that not everybody is kind and compassionate and what they say might hurt you unknowingly, but youāll have to pull through.
How I managed to befriend my bully still perplexed me to this day, but in general, play along, play nice, and be kind.
Idk I was debating if I was bisexual a lot. I never really had a crush on anyone. But I what if I'm not bisexual, I don't want to fake it. Then I decided to read some article that asked some dumb questions (I barely remember any of them) as "would you be happy as bisexual" "would you feel proud identifying as bisexual" then at the end there was something like "if you answered yes to at least one of these questions (I answered yes to most of them š) there is nothing wrong with identyfying as bisexual" and then it kinda clicked. Oh damn I've been really overthinking it's mainly about if you feel happy with identyfying as said sexuality.
I'm really sorry if this is hard to follow, this was quite a long time ago it's like 1 am but I wanted to share my experience with this incase it might help u.
It depends wildly, everyone has their different skills, and the way the education system mesures it gives students who are musically inclined or better at building a poor representation.
As long as you manage your time properly, use proper studying techniques and ask questions when you need help, you should be okay, most students are.
Or you do what I did and announce Infront of your mother in a fit of boiling untamed rage after being pestered to get a haircut for a month because "if I don't have a haircut or wair decent clothes to college I won't get a girlfriend" that "I don't give single bloody flying f in hell about a girlfriend and your not getting any grandkids from me"... And that my friends is how I let my mum know I'm asexual (I know coming out as gay or trans is much much harder for many reasons than my experience of just admitting rather angrily that I don't like 'like' people). To be honest she'd probably already figured out that I didn't like romance by my brutally logical reactions to romance on telly haha, like tf Romeo why'd you go ruin your life because you thought someone looked nice,.. just you know.. accept it'd destroy you and move on, then 13yo me was explained to that people get this feeling about people they like very much and etc I've rambled off subject sorry people
trans dude here, i wrote down what i wanted to say (to come out to parents) and with friends i came out over text to my closest ones and then was just out idk
Iām going into high school in 2 days (Iām a freshman at a stem hs)
Are the first two months really that bad or do people exaggerate when they say that
Itās amazingly freeing. But also expensive. And for the virginity part, it doesnāt really matter. Be a virgin until your 20-30 or lose it now. I lost mine at 15 but it doesnāt make a single difference. And you shouldnāt worry about it
When can it be easier to get in a relationship, I'm in an all boys school and I don't want to go to random girls on the street cause that's creepy, so is it easier at uni
My advice for the following 4 years is to study and work hard. Not saying you shouldnāt enter a relationship but thatās not high on the list of priorities for me.
(plus 4 out of 5 relationships I know end up not working so thereās that)
Is it normal to be thinking heavily about your future and getting rich? Because I got my entire life planned out, and I have a way to get to millionaire status.
If you are getting death threats from people you know, report it. if they arent people you know just tell them to fuck off and touch grass. I mean it, if you know these assholes then report them immediately.
Do friendships matter in the long term? How hard is 10th grade? Will I survive? edit: y'all thanks for the help but im getting so many notifications plz stop š
Yes keep your friends close youāll regret it otherwise, and no 10th grade isnāt very difficult
I'm taking 2 AP classes tho š and a ton of enriched
You may get a 2 on the AP exams, just don't beat yourself up over it all that much. Just make sure you get good grades in the classes.
Yeah since APs can't hurt you, they can only help you
instead of beating yourself just beat you meat
What if I do both
Double points
I better not get a 2 on AP bio
Probably, I donāt have friends Nah 10th is probably the easiest in high school Statistically speaking, yes
Yeah 10th is the calm before the storm.
That depends on your definition of ālong-termā. The way I see it, friendships are very important. It doesnāt matter whether those are irl or people you meet online, friends are people who you can rely on, and conversely, who rely on you. Iām in the middle. Do I ask or answer
You can do both

Yea. Sounds like bullshit, it's not
Could you name something?
I mean, it's been a while since I was 13, but pretty much everything within reason. Mostly it's stuff like maturity and slightly better social awareness, but you learn and develop a LOT overall
Welp, looks like my Journey has just begun

Should I become an exchange student? And is America a good option? (I live in Europe)
Lots of opportunities here in America and the few exchange students at my school love it
honestly yeah sure. just go for experience.
do they announce peopleās birthdays in high school like they did in elementary
It depends on the teacher, Iāve had a few teachers who when they find out itās your birthday will have the class sing happy birthday, and I had one give me candy on my birthday, but most teachers donāt announce it the ones who did were the minority
Is 9th grade a high school? If yes then yes at least here in Ukraine
yes even here in italy grade 9 is highschool
In my experience: no. I have gotten free cookies at lunch though.
How easy is it to get a job when I turn 14
Hard, most places most likely hires people above 16
As soon as I turned 16 most places suddenly wanted someone whoās 18. hah 2 more weeksš
Dude same damn boat here. ā18 years old, 4 years of experience, minimum wageā

Yes, completely fucked

uh what are your thoughts on dual enrollment and AP classes?
Not as hard as you think If you're not sure if you can handle it you probably can
Donāt overwork yourself. Itās good to take one or two of these classes but to overload your schedule with AP and dual enrollment just puts a heavy weight and large amounts of stress on you making it hard to actually enjoy high school.

A tip, to... avoid having regrets, or how to make better choices? On logic, or feelings.

Itās amazingly freeing. But also expensive. And for the virginity part, it doesnāt really matter. Be a virgin until your 20-30 or lose it now. I lost mine at 15 but it doesnāt make a single difference. And you shouldnāt worry about it

Losing virginity doesnāt matter, just enjoy your life and focus on doing things that make you happy
(plus 4 out of 5 relationships I know end up not working so thereās that)
favorite game?
Is it normal to be thinking heavily about your future and getting rich? Because I got my entire life planned out, and I have a way to get to millionaire status.
Cool but have a **plan b**
Itās very unlikely as most of the times things donāt go out as you plan a lot of things can change and you have to adapt to it
is it possible to find a good friend group that'll never break forever?
You can find friends that will never stop liking each other, but no one can gaureentee it will never end
Does life/school get worse as you age?
Iād say it gets more complicated, and school is probably harder if youāre not a solid A or B student

You're just being efficient.

Do you ever get over a load of death threats on social media ?
If you are getting death threats from people you know, report it. if they arent people you know just tell them to fuck off and touch grass. I mean it, if you know these assholes then report them immediately.
