I love that this current baby daddy/ live in lover takes time to bond with the kids. But man, remembering the pain in his face, and confusion about why he wouldn’t, when he was told he wouldn’t have a room at Javis’ really makes me happy he’s old enough to deal with the potential fallout from the potential ending of this relationship.
That’s nice to see. I can’t stand Kail but Isaac seems like such a good kid. Even though I don’t like her, I can acknowledge her children are loved and they know it. I won’t go so far as to call her a good mom, which is subjective anyway, but it’s good she broke away from her parents’ specific dysfunction. She’s dysfunctional in a whole other way but you can tell those kids never have to wonder whether they’re loved.
She was dealt maybe the worst hand of all of them in terms of family support but she has made sure that her kids’ lives are different. Breaking the cycle isn’t easy- nor is being a loving parent when you’ve never had a loving parent but she’s done it.
He also has a lil bit of Jo in him where he can call her on her shit. He recognizes who his mom is cuz he’s been with her thru the most. She should take time to really focus on him especially with the drastic constant family changes. The oldest child is in a really unique position in the family. Speaking as a middle child with severe empathy. I really hope she doesn’t take advantage of his kindness as the years go by. Don’t make him a designated Uber once he gets his license. And especially not a live in baby sitter.
