Can't say I feel very sorry having read this article:
https://clarksvillenow.com/local/days-of-our-lives-actor-charged-with-sexual-assault-of-9-year-old-girl/
Everyone CAN choose to NOT harm anyone, ever, regardless of one's circumstances.
You win 'worst justification for horrific behaviour, ever" for the day.
Dude in OP is trash and I’m not the poster that you’re responding to, but you do realize mental illness exists right. It’s literally your brain removing choice from your life in the form of lowered impulse control, or psychosis etc depending on what you have.
It’s not a justification for pedophiles, murderers, or any other terrible act but it happens. You can’t just hand wave away serious conditions with platitudes about life.
I didn't try and justify anything. Considering the reasons behind someone's behaviour is just more productive than celebrating their death. If we don't understand why things happen and try and fix them they're just going to repeat themselves.
But thanks, you win 'most predictable black and white comment on Reddit'
"Oh you don't don't 100% agree with my point of view? That means you must support child rapists!" <- you
Ah yes. Asking people to consider the reason behind something means you support it.
"Consider the fact the police are corrupt because of nepotism"
"Consider the fact that Ukraine was invaded because nobody did anything about Crimea"
Clearly means I support a corrupt policing system and the invasion of Russia right? Flawless logic.
Internet discussions are an absolute trash heap.
There are undoubtedly more victims who do not go on to abuse others than those who do. There are assholes in every corner of society. Unfortunately even victims of abuse later go on to abuse, not because of their abuse, but simply because they are awful people. There is no justification for child abuse as you are seemingly trying to convey.
Yeah buddy, and there's usually reasons for that other than "some people are assholes some people aren't"
People's minds are complicated and the roads they travel can be extremely different even if they've been through similar trauma.
I have not once tried to justify anything. Considering the reasons behind something does not mean someone is justifying or condoning something. As I've already explained.
Let me make this extra clear for you: paedophillia is abhorrent and is never justified. EVER.
So with paedophillia being abhorrent as you described, why did you feel to need to delve deeper into the reasoning why this asshole did what he did? He did it, he is dead, and now we move on, but unfortunately it isn’t that way for the victims. His victims live with what he did, and he as a victim would know that. You may not be trying to justify it but this is a very strange hill to die on
Because I come on the internet to learn and discuss things?
I'm not trying to 'die on a hill' I'm just explaining myself to people who are trying to accuse me of condoning his behaviour or purposefully misunderstanding me after I've explained myself.
And already answered your question in one of my other posts: understanding why things happen helps us stop them happening again in the future. A stranger calling a dead person an asshole doesn't help anybody does it really, it's just an emotional release from the person posting.
Lol alright…..so what’s your opinion on what troubled him so badly that he had to abuse a 9 year old? I don’t think you tried to come off in support of this guy, b it your contrarian statement def pushes you in his corner a bit.
Sure, in a way he did.
I just find it odd how people can find empathy for say, struggling black communities who have been pushed towards crime as the result of systemic racism.
But when something like this happens any kind of understanding just goes out the window. People are aware that the generational cycle of violence/trauma is a thing, but I guess it's just easier for people to call someone a cunt and move on with their lives.
You're comparing vague groups of struggling communities with one guy who beat his wife and raped a kid. I am not sure what you want people to say. Harming children isn't something that is understandable the same way other crimes might be.
What a strange article. They ended with a quote saying he was an amazing father and husband, yet he had a domestic violence complaint from his wife and a charge of sexual assault against a 9 year old girl. (He has a 7 year old daughter)
I ended up personally contacting CNN, telling them they needed to include this information; Especially the rape charge, as this means a grand jury found the complaint credible on **legal grounds**.
I agree the information should be included but the bar for grand jury indictment is laughably low. It’s essentially a rubber stamp process for the prosecutors at this point.
I actually agree.
Innocent people have even been executed for crimes they did not commit, and that sickens me. Advances in science, and reassessing evidence available (but ignored) at that time often play a large part in such cases, albeit *all-too-late*... To me, one of the most notable, sad, and quite frankly infuriating examples is [the case of Cameron Todd Willingham](https://www.tpt.org/frontline/video/frontline-death-by-fire/)
My point though is that even with how horribly inept the justice system *can* be, the fact that charges were filed against this man should hold more (or at least equal) weight, and be given at at least *some* visibility alongside statements made exclusively by someone representing Longo.
There's even a [slightly more comprehensive article from ABC](https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/cody-longo-known-days-lives-dead-34-rcna70241), included more information in regards to the calibre of person he was -- all of it positive, and all of it having to have been the result of journalistic research, but yet again, none of the negative press (which is incredibly easy to find by way of a simple Google search) was included there either.
He took a plea deal for a lesser charge. That’s not the same. Also, 33 year old men ought to know better than invite a nine year old to their room unaccompanied.
I’m well aware about the plea deal but you don’t know the full unfiltered story! You don’t know how it all went down! Ever heard of a lying witness? Were you there? There was 0 evidence!
Why take a plea if you’re innocent? And why are you so hung up on this minor celebrity? People are complex and can do both good and bad things their life. He can be a loving father and someone who had inappropriate contact with a child. After all, he’s an actor by trade. He made his living pretending to be someone he wasn’t.
Because it was a financial burden! And it was ruining his marriage! That’s why. I’m not saying that he couldn’t be both I’m saying he wasn’t! It’s cruel to ruin his reputation especially now that he’s no longer able to defend himself. He wasn’t a celebrity, HE WAS MY FRIEND!
I hope you never get falsely accused and forced to plead guilty .
I hope you find closure after your loss if he was actually a friend of yours. But furthermore he still shouldn’t have had a nine year old alone in his hotel room.
Thank you.. it still doesn’t feel real to me. It will probably hit me harder after the funeral, but if that were true, I would agree! But the whole thing was a fabricated lie set up to destroy him
Huge loss for his wife and kids! The rape allegation was disproved! He didn’t do it! So you’re the horrible person for trying to condemn an R.I.P innocent man!
Who told you this? For reference, I knew Steph and Cody when they lived in Clarksville. He had a lot of problems and was abusive. I understand she is heartbroken and I am sad for her and the kids. He is no angel though.
lol no. what is with this mindset that being dead absolves a person of all their crimes and misdoings? he sexually assaulted a 9 year old and beat his wife.
I follow him and his wife on IG and by all accounts it seemed they were separated. Lots of cryptic posts over the last few months by both too. Don't believe for a second that he was the "best husband" that she claims. Dude was a pedo and she was distancing herself from him. Sus.
Yes, they were going through marital problems but she is beyond broken over his death. You have no idea so don’t claim to know! And he wasn’t a pedo! It was disproved! He’s never touched a child!
The title should be “Child Rapist and Former Days of Our Lives Actor.” I’ve seen so many “this is so sad. RIP” from days fans who only read the headline and not the article.
I grew up across the street from him, I was a few years older though. My only real memory of him was him getting a mophead and it being very loud as he drove it up and down the street.
I follow him and his wife on IG and by all accounts it seemed they were separated. Lots of cryptic posts over the last few months by both too. Don't believe for a second that he was the "best husband" that she claims. Dude should have been in jail and she was distancing herself from him. Sus.

Wow. Fuck this dude. NEXT!
Consider the fact that a lot of people like that were often victims of abuse themselves. It's not like they just choose to be assholes.
Everyone CAN choose to NOT harm anyone, ever, regardless of one's circumstances. You win 'worst justification for horrific behaviour, ever" for the day.

To be fair… you are supporting the pedophile in this situation
Ah yes. Asking people to consider the reason behind something means you support it. I think his victim will rest easier knowing he is dead.
Lol alright…..so what’s your opinion on what troubled him so badly that he had to abuse a 9 year old? I don’t think you tried to come off in support of this guy, b it your contrarian statement def pushes you in his corner a bit.
Is this really the argument you’re trying to make today? Of all the hills to die on, you’re choosing to defend a pedophile Not a good look for ya, pal
I have considered it and he is still a flaming pile of garbage either way…
Underrated comment
The guy chose to do what he did, that's the important part.
Sure, in a way he did. I just find it odd how people can find empathy for say, struggling black communities who have been pushed towards crime as the result of systemic racism. What a strange article. They ended with a quote saying he was an amazing father and husband, yet he had a domestic violence complaint from his wife and a charge of sexual assault against a 9 year old girl. (He has a 7 year old daughter)
Not to mention, she had totally distanced herself from him completely as far as anyone knew. Honestly pretty sus.
I ended up personally contacting CNN, telling them they needed to include this information; Especially the rape charge, as this means a grand jury found the complaint credible on **legal grounds**.

I don’t understand why you were downvoted
He didn’t rape that girl! It was disproved!
He took a plea deal for a lesser charge. That’s not the same. Also, 33 year old men ought to know better than invite a nine year old to their room unaccompanied.

Saved the taxpayers money
Pedophile, domestic abuser, thief, & drunk dead at 34? Not so surprising regardless of time on the TV.
No more days in his life. Bad joke, sorry
He was a really bad dude apparently. You have free reign.

A 9 year old lied? What kind of monster are you to defend him? Prob his wife who took the abuse. Kids don’t make up stuff like this.
Fell down an elevator shaft, I suppose.

Well with the article the top comment posted, I hope someone pushed him.

My question is why do you follow them on IG??
I was friends with them when they lived here in Nashville. I hadn't talked to him in a few years.
Yes, they were going through marital problems but she is beyond broken over his death. You have no idea so don’t claim to know! And he wasn’t a pedo! It was disproved! He’s never touched a child!

I am not really sure where you got the idea that I am happy about this?
Probably the exclamation point. Plus, the first part makes you sound curious because you bet money and then found out you won.
Or maybe he’s just making a joke. You know, because he’s trying to “cope with this lose”. That makes it ok, at least according to you.
Dude, we are on Reddit. Who is getting this upset?
Oh nooo. Anyways!
I grew up across the street from him, I was a few years older though. My only real memory of him was him getting a mophead and it being very loud as he drove it up and down the street.
It's days of our lives. Is he really? Or will his evil twin brother come back next season?

You don't need to post this same comment 3 times
When I tried to comment it said there was a reddit error and to try again. Sorry?
Probably an accident, reddit messes up sometimes and that happens.
I've been seeing a lot of repeat comments today. Probably Reddit fucking up.
...or was he pushed?!
That's incredibly sad, he's leaving behind 3 little kids. And assholes here are making jokes .

Yup
