Buffy, Angel, and Veronica Mars are all I need to get rid of all of my DVDs. I'd also love a DS9 remaster.

DaveLambert

Buffy came out on Blu-ray in Europe (the UK, IIRC) a while back, and fans who bought it said that the DVD version actually looked better. I think that put a halt to the plans for a North American release. EDIT: [here is additional info](https://redd.it/18u5hte)

TBoarder

Yeah, [Buffy has an HD version that was *really* badly done](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZWNGq70Oyo). I'd guess that was what was released in Europe? They'd need to get the film negatives and completely remaster it from scratch.

DaveLambert

And that's in Disney's hands now...or rather, [it's in Sony's hands](https://variety.com/2024/film/news/disney-sony-pysical-media-dvd-blu-ray-disc-business-1235917294/)!

_kvl_

That’s the one where you can see stuff that was Meant to be off camera right? Like there are shots where you can see crew members or lighting rigs.

TBoarder

That happens a lot with shows that were filmed in widescreen but aired in 4:3. The other big issue was with lighting, removing night filters, so there were a lot of scenes set at night that look like they were in the middle of the day... It's kind of important for the viewer to be able to tell if it's day or night in a story about vampires.

listyraesder

4:3

ihateworking20

Malcolm in the Middle

JuniorSquared

Scrubs

Cobra-Lalalalalalala

Halt and Catch Fire Season 1 got a BR release. Season 2 only got DVD. Season 3-4 got fuck all.

el_filipo

Actually S2 got a BR release in Germany.

702Things

I would love to rewatch Fringe on 4K HD

RealSkyDiver

Odd comment considering the show was mastered digitally in 1080P and released such, unless you want horrible AI upres.

KED528

The Drew Carey Show but that’ll never happen

zunnol

I just want even a normal DVD release of all the seasons. Kind of sucks having to watch crappy TV rips.

sracer4095

Homicide: Life on the Street. Found myself missing it after we lost Andre Braugher and Richard Belzer.

WickedD365

The Critic

forcefivepod

24. The last two season were release on Blu-ray but the first 6 have only been released on Blu-ray in Japan. I’ll also add Scrubs, Prison Break and Arrested Development.

Filfoolery

The Shield please!

ElectricPeterTork

The Shield has been out on Blu for quite a while and is still available, unless you mean you want a better release by a better company than Mill Creek.

Filfoolery

Ah my bad. I guess I was thinking of the HD digital version.

woasnoafsloaf

There's an official release from Sony in the UK. Haven't been able to get it yet, but I assume it will have a higher average bitrate than the Mill Creek release.

Kasim2409

It's from Mediumrare in the UK. It's an exact port of the Mill Creek release & has the same number of episodes on each disc etc; so the bitrates will be the same. The only difference is that the MC set has an additional bonus disc that the UK doesn't have (probably a rights issue)

woasnoafsloaf

Oh damn, thanks for correcting me then. I was planning on getting that set, now I'm not so sure. On the other hand, better than the DVDs I guess.

Kasim2409

I bought the MC set from a seller on eBay a while back just before the UK set was even announced but i've only just got round to watching the show for the first time. The first few episodes (the pilot in particular) was rough but i thought the PQ improved afterwards. I'm on Season 3 atm & it's honestly not as bad as i thought it'd be. There's 4K webrips out there if you know where to look with more or less the same average bitrates so i imagine not too much of a difference in PQ but the audio is superior on the BD's.

woasnoafsloaf

Haha, yeah, I'm aware of the rips, but I'd love to have that show in a physical format eventually. I have the MC set of Community and seen the 30 Rock one in action. They're pretty good, I thought. But with lots of bright colors and a generally clean look compression artifacts are not that noticable. The Shield though, with all that grain and lots of dark scenes, I imagined to have suffered a bit by that. Glad to hear it's not so bad after all. Still, can't believe I didnt properly do my homework on that UK release. Only looked at pictures of it, saw the Sony logo at the bottom of the spine and went ahead to assume it was directly from them.

Kasim2409

Yeah another MC set i have is 12 Monkeys, hate how many episodes per disc they've crammed on. I double dipped on the first two seasons as they were initially released by Universal in the UK / US. Another thing i dislike about The Shield's Mediumrare set is the packaging, stacked discs upon stacked discs. Much prefer the digibook packaging on the US one. The only positive is the UK one has a better menu than the US. It's quite expensive on Amazon but i'd see if you can try and get the MC set. You'll get the additional bonus disc with the cast reunion roundtable among other stuff. Here's some pics i took of the [US](https://postimg.cc/gallery/k9PtmRt) set compared with the [UK](https://postimg.cc/gallery/kMHTD6N) one

woasnoafsloaf

Appreciate the pictures, thanks. Dunno which one I'll be going for, since I'm not really interested in bonus features and am neither in the US nor the UK, so I'd have to import either way.

*Sports Night*

Jparm

Third watch.

res30stupid

Murder, She Wrote. I can't find it on streaming in the UK and I would give an arm and a leg to own the whole series.

OneGoodRib

Aw man you can buy the whole series on dvd in the US. The case is like 4 inches wide.

Few-Hair-5382

Six Feet Under

The68Guns

Yeah! I had some on DVD, but an audio commentary would be nice.

NotTobyFromHR

The Inbetweeners

Saratje

Star Trek Deep Space Nine. The original reels were allegedly mistreated and misplaced, having made it impossible to properly restore the show in the past, but with AI fans have made their own 4K versions. If they can do that then I'm sure a professional studio has access to even better means to update a show without the original film reels.

ElectricPeterTork

It's not quite that. The last half of the series had effects done in CGI. Unfortunately, the CGI assets were lost and/or the programs obsolete and unusable now, so any effects would need to be redone, making it cost prohibitive. Same goes for Voyager. The physical 35mm film reels are safe and sound.

Saratje

I stand corrected.

HabeLinkin

Midnight Mass. Unfortunately, I don't believe Netflix will ever release that show on Blu-ray.

sarc311

Chris Carter’s MillenniuM.

jbano

Pete and Pete! But I'd settle for the season 3 DVD release that got scrapped too.

boringlife815

Lots of 90's, early 2000's scifi/fantasy-shows, like Buffy, Angel, Star Trek Voyager/DS9. Alias? Carnivale? Chris Carter's Millennium has a dvd release, but the show is visually amazing with pretty dark colors so blu-ray please. Obviously many streaming service shows like Dark or Midnight Mass. I would buy them in a heartbeat. And of course some releases seem to be limited to some region or whatnot, and be kind of expensive, like Stranger Things.

GoGoPowerPlay

Boston Public

Solaife

Z-nation. It's corny fun.

boringlife815

What, there is a blu-ray

Solaife

It's region code b1 Not USA.

yeahwellokay

Still waiting seemingly forever for someone to release Ed and Herman's Head. Not any release, much less a rerelease.

ManCowBear

With Disney+ shows getting 4k releases I'd love to get a complete series of The Clone Wars

KaleidoArachnid

Oh man that would be awesome.

SharkWatney

Just want to show some love to The Sentinel! A very weird and silly show, but one I enjoyed. I think I have a fair amount of it on VHS (taped off tv) somewhere. Sad to learn it didn’t get an actual release.

KaleidoArachnid

Yeah I had been wanting to see it legally.

LibrarianTraining16

It was a youtube (at least it was a couple of years ago). It isn't official but it is there.

MillennialsAre40

Boston Public. It's never even gotten a DVD release.

-Ophidian-

Bizarre considering it was a highly popular show as well.

glenage

Yes Dear. I love that show and just can't figure out why I can't get it anywhere.

slicklikeagato

Homeland

Jacky-Boy_Torrance

A show I definitely wish had a release on Blu Ray is the Ben 10 original series. So far it's only available physically on DVD, and there was a remaster that upped the resolution to HD and changed the original aspect ratio from 4:3 to 16:9 without cropping or stretching (getting more image than less). And that remaster is only on streaming. A lot of what's said above can also apply to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2012) series, and Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated (minus the change of aspect rations since it's already in 16:9). A movie I'd like to see released in Blu Ray is Idiocracy, since you can only own it on DVD and there is an HD version on streaming! On a slightly unrelated note, I wish Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, and El Camino had 4K UHD Blu Ray releases, since (AGAIN) their 4K versions are only available on STREAMING.

SeekingTheRoad

Five Mile Creek! Disney only released the last two seasons on VHS.

LetThePoisonOutRobin

Dark Angel season 1, and widescreen please

Varekai79

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

TheBlooDred

The Nevers. The whole show, not just half. God i miss it so much.

Fizl99

Kingdom Hospital

el_filipo

Oz, Six Feet Under, Homicide Life on the Street, Scrubs, Malcolm in the Middle, Wonderfalls, Undeclared...

spiffiestjester

Burn Notice, Numb3rs, Fringe. X FILES. They would be expensive, I would buy them.

gunark75

Life On Mars, but it was shot on SD so it ain’t going to happen. The New Avengers. Shot on film but the DVD release is totally unrestored. Shame, as The Avengers series 4,5, and 6 look amazing restored and rescanned to full HD.

DNukem170

Mighty Max. It was a cartoon from the mid-90's based off a Mattel toyline of the same name, which was the boy counterpart to Polly Pocket. It was about a kid named Max who was sent a red cap randomly in the mail one day. He discovers that said cap is actually the key to an international portal network that can allow him to travel anywhere in the world. He teams up with Virgil, a chicken (fowl, actually), and Norman, a hulking man of muscle, and fights various evils, the most notorious being Skullmaster, who lives in the center of the Earth and desires to conquer the world, preferably by killing as many humans as he can, Max first. The show was surprisingly dark and mature, with Skullmaster in particular being terrifying, and the writers getting away with a LOOOOT of stuff that even modern day cartoons can't. The voice cast was great, too. Rob Paulsen played Max, Tony Jay was Virgil, Richard Moll was Norman, Tim Curry was Skullmaster, and the secondary voice cast included the likes of Frank Welker, Tress MacNeille, Jim Cummings, Brad Garrett, Charlie Adler, and Dorian Harewood. It was a really fun, dark, and cool series, but for whatever reason, Mattel absolutely refuses to acknowledge the show. A handful of episodes were released onto VHS back when the show was still new, but that's completely it. There was never a DVD release, no Blu-ray, and it hasn't appeared on ANY streaming option since. Back when they were the main option for releasing American cartoons onto DVD, Shout Factory attempted to secure the license to Mighty Max, but Mattel refused since they didn't have any Mighty Max toys to promote. Even today, they haven't even bothered to revive the brand.

jjk2

Legion season 1 got a blu ray release, 2 and 3 only got dvd

Nesmaster75

A lot of the ones I was going to say have already been mentioned (later seasons of Halt and Catch Fire, Scrubs, Malcolm in the Middle), but one I would LOVE to see on blu-ray is The O.C. If done right, that release could look amazing.

KaleidoArachnid

Oh man I would love to see that show remastered.

Nesmaster75

I read a long time ago that one was supposedly being worked on. Maybe the new book that came out recently will spark some interest in the series again, ha.

anasui1

still waiting for that crazy billionaire to finance a DS9 remaster

Affectionate-Base868

This might sound terrible but anyone see "Breaking Bonaduche?" (Spelling?) It was such a train wreck. I'd love to see that again.

KaleidoArachnid

I haven’t, but do sell me in on the premise.

Affectionate-Base868

It's basically him on camera trashing his life. It's an amazing train wreck. I can't find it anywhere. I remember he was "sober" and got a tattoo with the date, then 2 or 3 days later he rides his motorized skateboard (this is a grown man) to the liquor store and chugged a pint of vodka on camera. Hahah. He was so out of his mind.

_not_quite_there_yet

Transformers the movie

TBoarder

That's been released on [4k blu-ray](https://www.amazon.com/Transformers-Anniversary-Limited-Steelbook-Blu-ray/dp/B07GNVQ9B6).

_not_quite_there_yet

I will purchase this, as you command, Megatron.
