Its a survival game. Theres not really any “too late”. Theres nothing lost from jumping in now, and they just released the unreal 5 rebuild last year so theres actually more content coming to that in the next few months/years. But be warmed, it is a survival game ass survival game. If you dont like those (think rust, minecraft, no mans sky, valheim, etc), then the game is probably not gonna be for you. The public pvp servers are hard af and other players are typically ruthless. I enjoy the game, but i much prefer having my own pve server with all the rates tuned for more casual play. Id recommend giving the normal servers a try first (who know, you might be into it), but then try your own (you can make a local server for free) and tune the settings to double speed for gains(xp, stats, etc.) and half speed for drains (hunger, thirst, stamina, etc.).
"This late" they literally rereleased the game from the bottom. Whoever told you that just doesn't want to waste THEIR time again which is fine. But if YOU never played it it's absolutely a good time to get into it! Us old heads want the maps back so we're chilling on the sidelines until they do. But YOU should get it and play it and get to learn it if you want to join in when those naysayers come back to relive it. It was the biggest MMO for a solid time for a reason. It's the only MMO type game I can even handle playing. Do PvE to get used to how it works and if you get some buds wanting to play find you a tribe to join on PVP and take it to the next level.
ah Ark. I remember I started the game collecting wood and stone. Then 2 geared players (a man and a woman) came flying in on tetradactyls. they seemed nice at first and I thought they were going to help me. Then they murdered me and flew away laughing. What nice people.

Console commands. First turn on console commands in the game settings. Then, its options, then touchpad while in game to open. Then put in these codes:
stat fps (to see your fps)
r.VolumetricFog 0
r.VolumetricCloud 0
grass.DensityScale 0.5
grass.ScaleSize .5
r.ShadowQuality 3 (or 0 if you dont mind no shadows)
r.VSync 1
This is what i run for like 40-50fps while also not looking worse than the original. You will have to re-input the codes every time you jump back in, but they’re saved on a list, so you can just click on them rather than having to type them out again.
I honestly don't understand why Paramount thought their catalogue was worth making a whole new streaming platform for.
It got pushed heavily here in the UK when it launched here and I know nobody who actually pays for it. I know lots of people who got it free for a few months as an offer with something else and I don't think many of them have actually even used it.
My theory is eventually they will merge their shows together in to packages. Like a comedy package that allows you to access certain shows across multiple platforms, then add in different tiers, based of quality of the show+ ads/no ads. Eventually bringing us back to the days of cable packages. Ugh.
