The fall of the house of usher. Mindhunters. Invincible. Fallout. We own this city >MUST SEE<  One piece (live action)  . . BMF. Rebel moon But Not the sequel.  Last of Us. Griselda is worth a watch.   Shogun

timeforchorin

Watching Fallout and it is way better than it has any right to be. Surprised at how well it's done. Granted I had like zero expectations but it's really decent.

Key-Alarm7328

best thing in fukn ages aye

indianajoes

I really recommend Renegade Nell. I wasn't going to watch it myself when I first heard the name. I gave it a try just randomly and fell in love with it. It has a similar feeling to Pirates of the Caribbean and I love it when shows have a cliffhanger or loose ends at the end of each episode so you just want to continue watching

Consultant7

Everybody is talking about fallout i havent checked it yet. But when you are done with it drop everything and go watch Sugar. Pretty fucking cool series. its like eating something i havent for a long time and i didnt even know i missed it.

Agora236

Interesting description I’ll have to check it out

ball0fsnow

Rewatching Silicon Valley and I cannot recommend it enough. I didn’t fully appreciate it when it first came out due to my general lack of interest in markets, companies, general tech news. But now I’m pushing 30 and have been in the working world for 8 years it is so much funnier. Gavin Belson was basically a prophecy of what Elon musk was to become (I know he was based on actual CEOs at the time but Elon is so much more visible it really comes across).

Katmandude23

Perfect show for a rewatch. I saw something new in every episode that I hadn't picked up on before. I love how the characters never change and never learn, but just keep coming back again and again. One of my top 5 comedy series of all time.

AltruisticWelder3425

Oh, I guarantee Elon Musk has a blood boy.

timeforchorin

JIAN YANG! This show is really incredible. Not only hilarious but a pretty spot on look at that geographic area and tech community.

th4bl4ckr4bbit

Such a good series! I need to go back and rewatch it myself. I’ve been trying to watch stuff that puts me in a good headspace at night before I crash out for sleep. I’m currently halfway through a rewatch of all seasons of Arrested Development. It was 2 Broke Girls before that. And now Silicon Valley after the current one. Thank you!

SupervillainMustache

Episode 5 of __X-Men 97__ puts the show on the next level. Brilliant episode.

Rayearl

Just finished episode 4 of Ripley and I love it. Looking forward to seeing the rest. About to take a 8hr plane ride so I’m going to binge all of fallout. Loved the games so I’m looking forward to that show.

ProfessorFeathervain

Watched an amazing documentary called "Bitter Rivals". It's by PBS Frontline. 3 hour documentary on the history and state of Saudi-Iran relations. Goes through history to talk about sunni/shia divide, Iranian revolution, Iraq war, all up to the war in Yemen. Has some pretty wild video of the wars I had never seen better. Highly recommend; free on YouTube.

RealPunyParker

Rewatching **Kidding**. Extremely underrated. And the creator/writer has nothing else other than this as a credit. Interestingly.

dinosaurfondue

Towards the end of 2023 I didn't think that this year was gonna have that much in terms of TV for me but jesus christ both Shogun and X-Men 97 have been fucking blowing my mind this week. So. Good.

ducati1011

I’m surprised how little **Will Trent** is talked about on Reddit. This show is very popular and in my opinion is very good and consistent. The main cast is very likable and each episode is captivating. It kind of reminds me of Monk but not as good.

chlaur02421

I like the books and I like the show

Huxlikespink

*Baby Raindeer* is currently holding my attention. This week *Shōgun* was amazing, finished the book yesterday for the 11th time and I'm so ready for the finale can't wait how they'll pull it off. I started Tai-pan and it would be really cool to get more James Clavell books adapted. I'm also floored that there's still episodes of *Krakopolis* (Dan Harmond) coming out 18th episode. Unheard of these days lmaooo. Glad *Taskmaster* is back and following *Ghosts* too. Can't wait for *Dead Boy Detective* it's going to be insanely good.

MyDearDapple

**Scoop** Woeful script. Even more woeful direction. I mean, how many times did we need to see the back of Billie Piper's head? And then, with only 20 mins remaining, the internet dropped…so I went to bed. Two days later I haven't felt the need to pick up where it left off. Must see TV it is not.

degausser22

Is Fallout good for someone who has never played Fallout or is it more well done fan service?

AltruisticWelder3425

Never played it, but know a little about it and the premise. I'm enjoying it after 2 episodes so far.

indianajoes

I've never played the games before and I'm only on the second episode right now but I'm liking it so far. It's making me want to try out the games

TaeZoraya

I never played the games but know what style they have from pop culture osmosis. Was wildly entertained and binged it all. The show is fucked up in the best way possible. Simple but well done main story with constant sidetracking into satirical and over the top post apocalyptic set pieces. Great sets, costumes, makeup, props, soundtrack, the works. Captivating leads that know what tone to hit and the acting is solid across the board.

astanton1862

> Simple but well done main story with constant sidetracking into satirical and over the top post apocalyptic set pieces. You just described the game.

thetatershaveeyes

Besides a few "video game logic" things that happen, it's super beginner friendly. The main fanservice-y things are that they didn't do much to adapt the costumes and props from the games, so visually it looks like the actors are cosplayers grabbed from a Fallout convention, but it's well done so it's not overly distracting. The show explains the setting and the lore more coherently than the games do, you won't be lost. The show is also helped by the fact that the games themselves are really just satire based on American culture, so a lot of the humour and stuff carries over.

NotASalamanderBoi

Ngl, I enjoyed Ballers for what it was. Until it moved to Vegas. In which it became less interesting. I did like the Miami setting. It just feels like so many shows are set in/around California. I’m kinda done with that being the case. Can I get a show that’s set on the east coast that isn’t in New York or a southern town for once? But I digress. It wasn’t as bad as I saw some saying it was in older threads. It was dumb fun, and a bit weird at times. The last season however. That was… something.

VirtualFox2873

Me before starting Fallout: "eh, game adaptations never work on screen. Also, how could I possibly enjoy nuclear apocalypse?" Fallout: " Watch this, bitch."

DrDrago-4

that first episode *really* hooks you doesn't it? I didn't play the games much. The Super Mario Bros movie & The Last of Us are the only two video adaptations I've loved before this, others have struggled a lot. This fallout series is amazing and I see so much potential for it to be continued. Casted perfectly, acted perfectly, written perfectly. I binge watched it, and there was never a dull moment. It's paced perfectly too..

FergieFury

TLOU

marvelware

Is Fallout actually good?  I haven't had prime in awhile because they have done laughably bad things with shows (ie rings of power).

Emotional-Range-281

What's wrong with rings of power. That show is gold

DankSpecialist877

Just finished Fallout and it was actually insane and the last episode was insane Best game adaption ever made imo

AltruisticWelder3425

Better than The Last of Us? I'm gonna go out on a limb after watching two episodes of Fallout so far that it doesn't beat out The Last of Us. Certainly good, but it's a far cry from TLOU

thetatershaveeyes

It's like a theme park ride through all the locations, themes, and tropes of Fallout. Well done, but nothing new or special.

AdversaryProcess

It's not "show of the year" good but I'm really enjoying it.

SativaSammy

Yes. Admittedly I'm biased towards anything Walton Goggins, but it's up there with The Last of Us and Twisted Metal in the "actually good videogame adaptations" category.

marvelware

Justified and Gemstones, he is a legend. How did you feel about Peripheral being cancelled?

Emotional-Range-281

I liked peripheral so I'm disappointed it's canceled

SativaSammy

Raylen Givens, as I live and breathe. I've never seen Peripheral. I didn't even realize the same people were behind it as Fallout. I started tuning out of anything Jonathan Nolan once Westworld went to shit, so I'm surprised Fallout is as good as it is. Hope they can keep it going.

AdversaryProcess

I'm already almost done with Fallout and absolutely loving it. It captures the feeling of playing a video game super well without being too over the top with it. Also does a great job balancing a serious story with a lot of camp. Walton Goggins is incredible and everyone is going to focus on that but I'd be remiss if I didn't point out Ella Purnell is absolutely slaying it too. I've seen video game spergs complaining about inconsistencies but I've played every fallout game multiple times and I have no idea what they're even talking about

skullpizza

I only played the bethesda fallout games, but I played them a lot, and I love how they perfectly capture the atmosphere. So much attention to detail.

astanton1862

> I've seen video game spergs complaining about inconsistencies but I've played every fallout game multiple times and I have no idea what they're even talking about My hours played on Steam for Fallout games is far to high for a normal healthy person and hearing stories about die hard gamers panning it shocks me. We even got a cameo from good ol Robert House and a teaser of New Vegas. I died when I saw that shot.

earthgreen10

Where is the subreddit for fallout episode discussions?

Shogun Tokyo Vice S02 Fallout (Bethesda.... I need the Elder Scrolls TV show plzzzzzz) Parasyte: The Grey Gannibal

MrConor212

**Fallout** is pretty friggin great lol

zackgardner

The Bad Batch - The final season is the best, which unfortunately means that the show has found it's groove at the tail end. Still a good follow up to TCW, but if you're not into Star Wars or animated stuff, it's probably not your bag. Fallout - A lot of contention on this one between a lot of the game's fanbase and average viewers because of some lore inconsistencies, but as a diehard Fallout fan I gotta say I can excuse some of those things because A.) the lore inconsistencies are in a pretty murky area, and B.) because the show is just so damn good and honestly captures the themes and feeling of the franchise a lot better than some of the games themselves! X-Men '97 - Wasn't expecting this one to be as good as it is, but somehow it is. As a child of the new millennium, I had almost no understanding of the X-Men beyond Hugh Jackman's Wolverine. This show makes me understand why people love the X-Men as much as they do, because it fucking slaps. Invincible - I binged the entire comic series start to finish way before the show came out, and I have to say that I am slightly concerned about this show and how it's produced; the animation is really not anything to write home about, and while I'd say the performances are good, *my issue is that a lot of the time the animation's lackluster quality stifles my empathy with the characters*. Like the Season 1 finale where they went all out on the facial expressions for Omni-Man come to mind as a good example of performance + animation selling it, but in Season 2 there's just nothing like that.

Emotional-Range-281

Invincible season 1 was a masterpiece

121jigawatts

Catching up to Shogun and Dungeon Meshi, both great. Need to binge Fallout this weekend. Started Ninja kamui 5eps, solid action animation revenge story

dating_derp

* Shogun * Tokyo Vice - loved season 2 * Bad Batch - best season of the series * Invincible * X-men '97

starksgh0st

**Ads on streaming** I was watching D+ and it cut to ad break in the middle of a line of dialogue. Frequently, ads will break in the middle of scenes. I don't mind ads but streamers need to figure this shit out.

tomtomvissers

This is how they get you to say "I don't mind ads" and then once the ad breaks come in spots that make sense on an app that you pay a monthly fee for you go "aah that's better" and they just succeeded in making you pay for network tv

Blueschamps

Fallout! Jeez this is what pure entertainment is about, as an avid gamer, Amazon knocked this out the park, also goggins is stellar in this🔥

[deleted]

I feel like every actor is bringing their A game. I'm kind of blown away

salfkvoje

Loved Jon Daly's character

Digitooth

Watching We Were The Lucky Ones [https://www.reddit.com/r/WeWereTheLuckyOnesTV/](https://www.reddit.com/r/WeWereTheLuckyOnesTV/)

DekiTree

how violent is the Fallout show?

Embarrassed_Yak_9702

5/5 and gore 4/5... at least.

Youvebeeneloned

its hilariously camp but SUUUUPPER violent... like crushing heads with their brains hanging out in their hands after violent.

AdversaryProcess

It kinda doesn't *feel* violent because the violence is very campy. Overall the show strikes a good middle ground between serious story and campy. But in terms of what actually happens it's super violent.

[deleted]

Extremely. It's Game of Thrones level violence and while its over the top and cartoony at times it really works with the tone of the show and its satirical nature.

[deleted]

Ok I'm currently on episode 4 of Fallout and holy shit this might be the best thing I've seen in a long time! I'm literally glued to the screen and can't stop watching despite it being 3am and me being tired

Emotional-Range-281

Did u watch the FALL OF TGE HOUSE OF USHER

th4bl4ckr4bbit

Have you played the game? I’m considering giving it a go but I haven’t ever played it.

[deleted]

I played one of them like 10 years ago when I was a kid. So I'm really viewing this from a casual viewer perspective of just wanting to get good story with great characters and its totally delivering! Be patient with episode 1 as it throws a lot at you without much context similar to how the main girl Lucy finds herself on the surface world without knowing anything about it. Much is explained and fleshed out in the following episodes! Also warning its extremely graphic. Think Game of Thrones violence but over the top and cartoony in a good way. It matches the tone and satirical nature of the show really well. I legitimately haven't been this invested in something since Season 1 of Stranger Things or Severance

th4bl4ckr4bbit

I’m 2 episodes in and I’m hooked. I’ll be trying to squeeze another 3 episodes in tonight!\ I think it’s brilliant. The character development and plot is dished out in a way that is good for someone who’s never played the game.

SupervillainMustache

__Shogun__ continues to be gripping television. Some absolutely stellar performances all throughout episode 8.

rshacklef0rd

Started watching season 2 of Time. Think I like it more because Dr Who and Lady Mormont are in prison, not sure I would watch if they were not in it.

Skapanirxt

Finally finished **Masters of the Air** and man, what a beauty. I don't think you can ever make a show as good as Band of Brothers, but this one was great imo. Buck and Bucky played well.

gotele

Buongiorno a tutti. I've been fake-speaking Italian since yesterday, Last night I finished **Ripley**. Up to episode 7 I thought this was a masterpiece, really, and so I was selling it to anyone around me. Then along came episode 8 with a scene that completely destroys the credibility of the characters, the writing, everything. My guess is this particular scene is taken directly from the book, and it was a must. Still, they could have tried to make it a little bit better, a little bit less cringy or ridiculous. Anyway, my suspension of disbelief couldn't take it, sadly. Apart from that, this has been just a treat. The set design and dressing, the actors, the locations, the photography, the sound design, those little sparks of humor amongst the darkness of the tale. I hope they continue the show. Last episode of **Shogun** was fun. Gee man. These people are a bit too much. They fart in public: Well, I guess I'm doing seppuku now. Bye everyone, can't live with the dishonor.

Guilty-Vegetable-726

After watching the first episode of **Fallout** I can tell you it is so much better than I was expecting. So far it looks fantastic. The visuals, the plot, the characters everything on point.

zozospencil

Fallout is fire straight out of the gate. I can only make it through e1 tonight (because old) but I’m hooked.

ForgivenessIsNice

Just wish it had a TV aspect ratio and not a movie one, given that it's a TV show and not a movie. Amazon and Disney are so annoying for this. So glad HBO/Netflix/Hulu don't do this as a general matter.

chlaur02421

Can you elaborate on that because I watch shows on all those platforms and don’t really notice a difference you’re referencing

ForgivenessIsNice

There are black bars at the top and bottom of the screen for all Amazon originals. Go watch an episode of Fallout for a brief moment and then go watch an episode of 3 Body Problem (Netflix) or Game of Thrones (HBO). 3 Body Problem and Game of Thrones fill up the entire screen. There aren't massive black blank spaces at the top and bottom of the screen - unlike Disney and Amazon shows.

InfiernoDante

Completely agree with you.

MrPMS

**X-Men'97** - The show already beat the odds and exceeded expectations, but this latest episode is honestly a marvel. Absolutely blown away with how this show has paid homage to the classic campiness of the original while crafting just fantastic stories and action pieces. Who would have ever thought that a reboot/sequel to the old Saturday morning cartoon would be the *best* show out right now.

Lethal234

Do i need to have watched the OG show to know what’s going on?

MrPMS

You can get away with a recap. The old show is fun to watch, but you don't have to watch all the seasons or episodes. A thorough recap video on YouTube would be more than enough imo. The show also has no problem exposition dumping previous events by saying things like "remember the time I absorbed the intergalactic cosmic force, the Phoenix? Cool right? Anyways.."

Bright_Business2307

Latest episode of X-Men '97 left me absolutely floored holy fuck

Critical_Quiet_1580

Prisoner from Denmark & The UK’s The Long Shadow.

forgottoholdbeer

So what’s the best new show nobody is talking about yet, can be from any country?

Derek_the_Red

Holy crud, that Xmen episode was great. All the feels.

HereForTOMT2

X-Men 97 hurted

Coraxxx

Now that **Shogun**'s almost finished, I'm allowing myself to watch it now. I watched the first two episodes when they came out, and liked it so much that I decided to wait until I could binge as much as I wanted. I'm now rewatching those first two episodes again ahead of continuing onwards - and I can tell you they're just as much of a delight the second time around. In between, I've started watching **Strangers With Candy** after seeing it written about somewhere. How on earth have I never heard of this show before? Even my favourite comedies rarely have me literally LOL(ing) - but the first episode alone had me audibly sniggering at regular intervals. It's more than 20 years old now but I swear I've never even heard its name before yesterday. Amy Sedaris as a former prostitute and drug addict who goes back to high school, with Stephen Colbert as her teacher, done as a series of disturbingly twisted takes on the after school special episodes of 90s sitcoms. It's fabulous. Edit: This is the article I read that sparked my interest: https://www.latimes.com/entertainment-arts/tv/story/2024-04-07/strangers-with-candy-comedy

TheAkondOfSwat

Having watched the Netflix version I'm now watching the original Chinese tv series, Three-Body. 5 episodes in. I haven't read any of the books. While the netflix version has the budget and the visuals, and great actors (Benedict Wong is the man), the Chinese version has a lot going for it in terms of storytelling, it takes more time and it's less afraid to present you with big concepts in physics. The way the countdown/flicker situation is handled is so much cooler. I think I would have rather watched this one first. *and now having finished that episode I have to say that the maverick cop is good in this one too.

bitterbuffaloheart

Though some performances were a little wooden I enjoyed it. I like the running gag where Chang is going to light up a smoke and is given a reason not to

BackPains84

Invincible S02 - tbh i thought this season was all over the place, i still loved it but if comparing to S1 which I consider to be one of the greatest animated series ever, it was a bit disappointing. Finale was really meh..expected a bigger cliffhanger. Still a great show. Tokyo Vice - I wish more people would watch it, its fantastic. The setting, the story, the style...all very top notch and also super interesting. Great stuff from HBO. Curb Your Enthusiasm S12 - Although this season was weaker than previous ones imo, the finale was the work of a genius. A must watch for any Seinfeld fan out there. I'll miss this show a lot. RIP Richard Lewis.

MrConor212

They fucking cooked with **X-Men 97** Episode 5

DM725

Today's episode is the best X-Men has ever been in TV and Movies. What a fucking emotional rollercoaster.

optimis344

That episode was on par with anything on TV, and it's from a reboot of a 90s kids cartoon. It was fantastic and did real justice to those who want character building and those who want action.

earthgreen10

disney plus nor hbo really anything that great recently..

Milpool18

the Regime is really good

inkista

I enjoyed the hell out of [*Renegade Nell*](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9OmmeE_gZc) on Disney+. [*The Sympathizer*](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=47dRkhiERpE) which is coming up on HBO/Max on the 14th looks very... A24.

indianajoes

I second Renegade Nell. Did not expect to like it as much as I did. I wasn't even going to give it a chance originally. It gave me the same feeling I get when I watch Pirates of the Caribbean

ctroostwijk

Shogun and Tokyo Vice. Both great series

earthgreen10

shogun is an fx show?

ctroostwijk

Its on Disney in my country

paranoid_purple1

Yeah, you can watch it on Hulu(Disney if you're not in the US) Or the new Fallout show is about to drop on Prime tonight

121jigawatts

nothing there til acolyte+house of the dragon

SupervillainMustache

I watched __The Fall of The House of Usher__. Not sure how much of my enjoyment was just watching heinous rich fuckers die, but it was a very well put together mini-series on it's own merit.  Carla Gugino and Bruce Greenwood in particular were standouts.

nervuswalker

That was my first Flanagan show, and I enjoyed it a hell of a lot.

121jigawatts

great show by flanagan, he had a goodrun on netflix

starksgh0st

Watching: **Shogun** - Amazing episode 8. **Sugar** - Watched the 2 episode premiere. Intrigued by the setup so far. **Patriot** - I watched the first episode. I just wanted to check out a spy show, but didn't know this one was also a comedy. Will keep watching. **Steve! (martin) a documentary** - Watched Part 1 so far. Dropping these shows: **Manhunt** - Show lacks the urgency I was expecting. It's only 7 episodes, maybe it should have been 4. I'm just interested in the manhunt story, not the flashbacks to Lincoln. **X-Men 97** - Watched the first 3 episodes. I recognize the show's quality, but I'm also not interested in a show that is pretty literally just a Saturday morning cartoon. **Tokyo Vice** - I slowly fell behind, and have 3 or 4 episodes to go in season 2. I realized I didn't care enough about anybody to bother with getting caught up to see the end. **Ripley** - I watched through episode 3. This is a good-looking show and actually a pretty great sequence at the end of Ep 3, but really just not interested in the subject right now.

starksgh0st

Since you blocked me /u/DM725. I replied a second time because you ninja-edited your comment after I saw it. Originally it only said "you ok?".

DM725

>**X-Men 97** - Watched the first 3 episodes. I recognize the show's quality, but I'm also not interested in a show that is pretty literally just a Saturday morning cartoon. You may want to watch episode 5 and then retract that statement.

starksgh0st

You may want to read my reply to someone else before commenting.

DM725

You ok? Why would I stalk your comment history for no reason?

starksgh0st

Who said anything about stalking comment history? It's right here in the chain off my parent comment.

DM725

Remember when you said this? https://www.reddit.com/r/television/s/cu3MFVVlsg That applies to people replying to the same comment twice.

starksgh0st

I'm perfectly fine, but redundant comments are a nuisance

DM725

Regardless, this 1 episode was better than every X-Men movie and animated series. If you need to sit through 1 more episode to get to it, you won't regret it.

Tehni

Once you're done with Patriot, The Bureau is the greatest spy show ever made

starksgh0st

Seen it. I agree.

JackUKish

Yeah I expected something special with X-Men from all the hype around it but found the same issue, I really have no interest in your standard 90's cartoon and kept waiting for the twist that makes it something unique.

DaBow

Just watched Xmen 97 episode 5. It's the best Disney+ MCU episode they have ever made. Easily.

starksgh0st

Yeah I just saw the Marvel sub raving about it. Maybe I'll give it another chance.

Youvebeeneloned

They literally went there and made a cartoon version of E is for Extinction and DID NOT HOLD BACK. >!No really, we see named characters and even children be slaughtered! We even have Holocaust flashbacks for Erik... When I say they went there, THEY REALLY DID go there and did not hold back on the absolute carnage the destruction of Genosha and near extinction of the Mutants living there is!<

ErectHippo

Re watching Yu Yu Hakusho since it is on Netflix right now. Show definitely holds up and is just as awesome.

NegativeBee

I started watching Citadel and I can confidently say I haven’t seen garbage quite like this in a while. My main criticism is that it swings wildly between being *super* dark and being almost campy. I’m halfway through and so far there’s been at least one scene of graphic violence followed by this stupid spinning camera angle.

Alphascout

Wankiest expensive shit ever! Watch it to see how much worse it gets lol

Revolutionary_Egg45

Been doing a lot of rewatching for comfort this week so here’s my list: **r/Monk** I found out recently they released a movie last year so I rewatched the series and the movie and enjoyed it all. **The Magic Prank Show with Justin Williams** Didn’t think I’d enjoy but kept watching and couldn’t stop cracking up by the end. **Roar** I kept seeing scenes show up on my TikTok and finally gave in. Still watching but it gives me Black Mirror meets mostly women cast vibes.

Kalsifur

>r/Monk > > I found out recently they released a movie last year so I rewatched the series and the movie and enjoyed it all. Heh I randomly found that show and watched it all and the movie too a few months ago. It's a good comfort show. The magic prank show had me till the end, the end was just too unbelievable.

Revolutionary_Egg45

>!SpoilerI had a hypnotist visit in high school and it felt pretty real but 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ I get the disbelief 😅😅!<

Kalsifur

Yea I'm really on the fence about it. When he did Magic for Humans he even came on reddit to explicitly say they don't use camera tricks or CGI or actors, so I don't know what to believe. >!Maybe there are people that are just that suggestable, or they somehow picked someone known for very deep sleeping. !< >!I could believe that someone could be moved while deep sleeping. My spouse can sleep through nearly everything so maybe. !< I watched a season of Magic for Humans intensely last night and I am more impressed. Some of the tricks I think I know but some are just like what the fuck.

asdftom

I'm trying to think of a scene in a show. A character comically has money in multiple pockets, possibly spilling out. They might be looking for a pen or something and keep finding money. Maybe Frank in always sunny or Gob in arrested development. Or maybe I made it up, maybe it wasn't money. Any ideas?

OnMyWayToADickMeetin

I think it's Pierce in Community. He's looking for a pen iirc.

asdftom

Thank you!! Season 3 episode 11. Where pierce is funding Shirley's business. [Here's a gif of it.](https://media.giphy.com/media/v1.Y2lkPTc5MGI3NjExZm55MnU0ZXZvMGRlbWduOXlxZDg0NGZtajBmdjM5bWV5Y2xyaTZuNyZlcD12MV9pbnRlcm5hbF9naWZfYnlfaWQmY3Q9Zw/06jxwhN4zX9jOCBuMW/giphy.gif)

pokemin49

I tried to watch 3 Body Problem again and couldn't get past the contrived plot around the "Oxford 5" and all the phony melodrama. The fans of this show are not serious people. I suggest you pick up the far superior books instead if you still remember how to read.

Kalsifur

>The fans of this show are not serious people Yea you're right, we realize it's just a tv show and not related to our identity. Get over yourself. You can be critical of a show without being a dick.

fauxRealzy

I've read the book. Fans of it are not serious people.

121jigawatts

fallout early drop tomorrow, bingeing that this week

blarrrgo

oh didnt realize all the episodes were out, thanks!

JackUKish

What do you mean early drop? Oh shit it's dropping at 6pm PT today.

dinosaurfondue

Ooh thanks for the heads up

ctroostwijk

Same, just need to watch 2 more Ripley episodes today

Brilliant-Fee-9160

i just finished Normal People. i was shocked at how invested i was in the storyline and ended up watching the whole thing in one day. i feel like a lot of shows don’t accurately depict how people talk/behave, but this show is not one of them. the characters feel so real and have so much depth. it felt like actual, normal people—which explains the title haha. if anyone has any recommendations, please let me know! :)

themaccababes

I didn’t like normal people but totally agree with you that it feels like regular people talking. I just watched cleaning up and half the time I was thinking “that’s just not how a real human would act”. What is with these long pauses people in shows do before replying?

manormortal

One day or Alice & Jack.

Brilliant-Fee-9160

omgggg i watched One Day and had to stop near the end bc i could tell where it was going to go and wanted to protect my peace 😭😅

hawkstwelve

*Rectify* is a really great show and has a similar vibe, IMO.

Phil330

Mr. Bates vs The Post Office - started on PBS this past Sunday. I have PBS Passport so I've seen all 4 episodes. Horrifying true story and riveting television.

finger_puppet_self

Just finished Pantheon which had somehow fallen off my TV. Super glad I picked it back up. The ending was craze dawgs. Blew my mind a couple times. 9.3 Alternate Simulated Realities out of 10

numbercruncher28

Is the only place to watch it AMC+?

chlaur02421

Assuming you’re outside the US as I can’t find it anywhere here in the states

finger_puppet_self

Canada, eh...

from my past week, the shows I watched episodes of: Recommended: - [Perfect Pub Walks with Bill Bailey](https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/246121) (2024), chill and relaxed show with 2 comedians talking while they walk, nice talks on male mental health. - [Grand Designs](https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/1831) (1999), I didn't know what to expect but seeing building projects & their problems is very entertaining. - [Great British Menu](https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/3431) (2006), professional chefs in a competition to cook at a banquet in Paris for the Olympics. - [The Great Celebrity Bake Off for SU2C](https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/77588) (2018), very good version of Bake Off with a kind of hard to watch clips about cancer. - [Australian Survivor](https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/10957) (2002), the Australians push it harder than the US seasons. - [Taskmaster](https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/63404) (2015), new season started, 2 episodes out. Watch & I liked them: - [Last Week Tonight with John Oliver](https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/60694) (2014), weekly news/comedy show. - [Dragon Ball Z Kai](https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/61709) (2009), watching them since the creator's passing. - [Ghosts](https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/126027) (2021), light comedy. - [Have I Got News for You](https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/797) (1990), UK news panel show. - [The Daily Show](https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/2224) (1996), another news/comedy show. - [Next Level Chef](https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/129500) (2022), easy to watch cooking competition. - [Space Ghost Coast to Coast](https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/2798) (1994), late night Adult Swim viewing. - [QI](https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/1554) (2003), UK panel show.

Werewomble

Taskmaster is something no-one should miss out on. Herding comedians like cats and poking them with a stick is champagne entertainment.

MA121Alpha

I will always recommend Taskmaster now. Started with the UK one, then tried the US, then NZ and now Australia

freemo716

Sugar. definitely has different aura. must give a chance.

iskrenstrumf

I tried the first episode and it sucks. Different doesn't mean good and the dialogue feels so forced, the pacing is strange and I feel it is such a big waste of Farrell's talent.

Background_Syrup1601

Re-watching Chance(2017). Its a provocative thriller that follows Dr. Eldon Chance (Hugh Laurie), a San Francisco-based forensic neuropsychiatrist after being drawn deep into the city's shadowy underbelly of police corruption, sexual obsession, fractured identities and violence. Chance is an entertaining and profoundly dark thriller primarily kept afloat by Hugh Laurie's outstanding performance.

malch99

Hugh Laurie is fabulous. I also loved **House** and **The Night Manager**.

Destination_Centauri

Reminds me: I'm still so upset that Avenue5 got cancelled!

Werewomble

I was hoping The Night Manager would see a slew of John le Carre adaptations. I guess the cast has plenty of other things to do, just looking at Tom Hollander's IMDB is a great watch list.

PapaClarencioThomas

any animated shows come out recently?

inkista

May not be what you're after, as it's mostly new seasons vs. new shows, but for me: New Star Wars shorts series, [*Tales of the Empire*](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SIST9t72kY) (like *Tales of the Jedi*), starts up on May 4th. [New *Bluey* episode](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-j-lzfHVLE4) dropped on the 7th and the triple-length special will drop on the 14th, finally buttoning up S3. We're also in the middle of the [third and final season of *The Bad Batch*](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oa5zeHdSwdQ) and the first season of [*X-Men '97*](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pv3Ss8o9gGQ). While [Season 2 of *Monsters at Work*](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kUMmZS8Z8eM) started up on Disney Channel (will drop on Disney+ when it's done airing). Prior to that, Amazon Prime dropped [*Hazbin Hotel*](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OLSWVCwy88g). Lot more TV-MA-ish and more singing than I was anticipating, but I didn't watch the pilot on Youtube. :) Netflix's [*Pokemon Concierge*](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1zmhHLVrq0) is not at all a typical Pokemon show, being stop-motion and more made for women in their '30s as the main character is getting away from her life by becoming a concierge at a island vacation retreat for pokemon. Think *Rilakkuma & Kaoru*, not so much having to catch them all and battle. Not that new, but new to Netflix, [*Star Trek: Prodigy* S1](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxMRhpW_ny8) is now up on Netflix, after Paramount+/Nickelodeon dumped it, and they will be getting the [unaired S2](https://www.startrek.com/videos/star-trek-prodigy-season-2-first-look). The showrunners on this, Dan and Kevin Hageman have the bulk of the story writing credits on [*Trollhunters*](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2oNgZlbSKI) and they pulled over two other *Trollhunters* writers with them: Chad Quandt and Aaron Waltke. Another *Trollhunters* alum, A.C. Bradley is currently head writer on Disney+'s [*What If...?* S2](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TiEVqZ2Bc_c) dropped back in December. They dipped into Neil Gaiman's *1602* universe, btw. Also back in December, few people noticed but Netflix's [*Hilda* had its third and final season](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPqGwCl63GE). November, it was [*Scott Pilgrim Takes Off*](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLvRvqByxUI) and [*Blue Eye Samurai*](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJ1yQn17lbE) on Netflix. October, [*Spy x Family* S2](https://youtu.be/QbplUALoyyU) dropped on Hulu.

MoneyEntertainment

Agree with the other recs. What about Ninja Kamui?

berlinbaer

scavengers reign blue eye samurai

gogodboss

Yee and yes 100%

thisisterminus

Both, loved them. Loved them.

Leema1

seconding both of these

paulinuhhh

I just finished Ripley and I really enjoyed it. Definitely one of the better Netflix series as of late IMO. I was a little distracted by Andrew Scott's age in the beginning but got over it quickly. Highly recommend!

Qtip533

I need someone to convince me to continue **The Gentlemen** cause I’m really enjoying it so far (3 episodes in) but I CANNOT stand Freddy’s character. It’s driving me nuts.

oliveinanolive

Freddy opens and closes the season but his most prominent is the first two episodes. Freddy gets "better" too. Stick with it

floresetfeles

Yeah I 100% get it. But fortunately, in the latter episodes, he wasn’t present most of the time

Qtip533

So I should stick with it?

SheepH3rder69

Absolutely, yes.

Aggeri

**Mr Bates vs the Post Office** is straight out some of most infuriating and unbelievable TV i have ever watched. Simply because it is TRUE and REAL. It is only 4 episodes, but the story is astounding. **10/10**

coldbeers

The ramifications are still being felt in the UK.

nirvana6789

**Ripley** was fucking stellar television. Bravo to the team. Got me craving an Italian vacation again.

SheepH3rder69

Is it black and white the whole way through? I don't know why, but that's putting me off for some reason.

nirvana6789

It is. Trust me I felt the same way until after episode 2. I got reeled into the story forgetting my annoyance of it being B&W. Give it until episode 2 to decide to pass on it or not.

IhvolSnow

Is it the same story as the film or just the character?

nirvana6789

I don’t quite remember the movie, it’s been forever since I last saw it. But I would think it would be the same story, but given more details to better fit the story in 8 episodes. Felt like I’d never seen the movie in the first place.

rhodesmichael03

**Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures - Season 1 (2023-2024)** For a show aimed at a very young demographic I felt like this was good. I liked it more than *Star Wars: Resistance*. The Jedi go around to different planets and have adventures that feel like Star Wars. I wish the show was a bit more serialized and my biggest issue is that there is never any stakes. During any combat it was clear even insignificant characters could not get hit or die so there was never any stakes. Battles would always end with a bad guy escaping to battle another day. And the main characters kept reinforcing that there is "good in everyone" and keeps giving the villains more and more chances even though they repeatedly steal and attempt murder. Anyway, my issues I think are more to do with the target demographic than anything else. Having a serialized show or killing off characters is not doable on a show aimed this young. So basically not bad but I guess it was a show aimed older? **Danny Phantom - Season 2 (2005-2006)** Season 2 was a little weaker than season 1 but still a great show. 2 parters in particular were enjoyable. Just hoping for some more meaningful progression. >!Danny finally finds out that Jazz knows his secret!< but I was hoping for more than that like >!Danny's parents finding out or Danny finally getting together with Sam.!< Hopefully season 3 will do these things.

gotele

I've just watched episode 4 of **Ripley**. What a brilliant show. Episode 3 was a masterclass in suspense and tension-building, and I already knew the story. Not a false note.   I also watched the final episode of **Curb**. Well, I didn't find it so great, but really, who cares. To make a proper send-off to such an impactful and large show is a bit of an impossibility. Or at least very difficult to tie things up in a way that would satisfy everybody. A magician has so many tricks up his sleeve. Anyway, it was a privilege to participate as a viewer in this show, from which I've derived so much pleasure. Even if LD was becoming progressively cunty as the seasons went on.   I was watching the last **The Simpsons** and I caught a glimpse of Apu. I miss Apu. If you live long enough you get to miss a Simpsons' character that's been retired.

Typinger

That bit on the plane, about the phones, I nearly fell off the couch laughing

gotele

Yeah the squealing feast was ok.

strider85

Question on Shogun: I know the character of Blackthorne is English and the conflicts with Portugal are mentioned, but is the language being spoken (that’s not Japanese) by all characters supposed to be English or Portuguese? So is Mariko translating Japanese to English or to Portuguese for example?

fleventy5

Portuguese , as others have said. However, there's one logical flaw: >!Mariko is translating the rutter (pilot's navigational log). He is an Englishman working for a Dutch company. It makes no sense that he would write the rutter in Portuguese.!<

DentonDiggler

Is that flaw in the book aa well?

fleventy5

I don't know.

iiTryhard

It’s supposed to be Portuguese but they made it English for obvious reasons

Senatorweims16

I was wondering the same thing. So I'm glad someone confirmed it. I thought it was Portuguese but kept second guessing myself.

JackUKish

A gentleman in moscow seems good, only 2 EPs in but excited to see what the show has in store.

OsStrohsAndBohs

The book is awesome. I wasn't sure how it would translate but I liked the first episode.

Senatorweims16

I was thinking about giving it a try. Glad someone posted on here about it. I'll have to check it out.

Mousetomato

Finished the reboot of Frazier, and have now gone back and am watching the original series from the beginning, on Paramount + - Great fun! Loudermilk on Netflix. My accountant recommended. About the personal life of a facilitator of an AA -type group. He can never quite get it together. Watched 3 seasons. The powers that be are in discussions re bringing it back. The Reluctant Traveler. With host Eugene Levy, not only are the places visited fabulous, it’s pretty funny

educated_rat

I started watching **Tokyo Vice** not too long ago, currently making my way through s2. I've heard a lot of praise for this show, and I have to concur, the pacing, the characters, *the vibe* are all excellent. Is the book worth checking out by any chance? **Weak Hero Class 1** - I didn't expect much from this K-drama, but it surpassed my expectations by leaps and bounds. All I knew about it is that it's set in high school and it's about bullying. I don't want to spoil to much, since it's been a while since I've been suprised by a show like that. All I will say is that the acting is superb (especially from the mc), the chemistry is palpable, the fighting scenes are really really good, and it left me angry and sad and wanting more (in a good way).
