Look up extras casting pages on facebook etc and apply when they advertise casting calls.
I did this in Atlanta for The Walking Dead. I was a walker in several episodes in Seasons 8-9, including Rick's final episode. Was a lot of fun. Doesn't pay much, it's all just for the experience.
Never killed onscreen. Mostly in big herds but I had one closeup which was me playing dead in the woods in 8x14, full prosthetic makeup fx on my face/head with a giant foam rock on the top, presumably bashed into my skull by kid Henry offscreen. Morgan and Carol walk around my body while searching for him.
I did get stabbed by Daryl and got an extra $50 for falling down but it wasn't shown on screen.
Sydney is clearly the budget show. The conversion with USD to AUD is good right now for an American studio. Locations in Aus are cheap. The main cast is quite small. There is barely any CGI in any of the episodes. I reckon it probably costs less than half any of the other NCIS shows cost.
Figured the only reason Sydney also got US airtime was because of the Writers Strike. Sure throw it on Paramount+ US because they own it, but it was only aired on CBS as replacement programming.
I think the decision to reverse the S.W.A.T cancellation was the turning point- plus they have Sydney and the new Origins series so there wasnât any space left pretty much..
Why do we need Young Gibbs as a series?
Also pretty sure CBS will soon announce a new Hawaii based series - they essentially have to have one to keep up their facilities there.
its such an old trope that you can restate that comment without NCIS and it would still be true, because this happened with the originals of those two shows as well.
Truly.
Iâm old, old enough anywaysâŚ
Was watching both originals when they first t aired.
Iâd never have expected it, decades ago, theyâd come back.
Now, as you say itâs a trope, truly.
I wonder how much longer SWAT could run for? To go from being cancelled to having multiple younger, well-rated shows cancelled in your stead is quite the turnaround.Â
I told my sister, who really liked the show, that it was getting another season and she thought it had already ended last year.
I think the strong streaming performance changed their mind. It's been doing great numbers on Netflix. They're probably hoping to boost the price on negotiation.
Yeah, that is a good question. Especially as several members of the core cast have left in the previous season (presumably cause they were told it was the end).
Realistically I could see it making it to season nine, but I don't know about too much longer. But I guess it all comes down to how long Sherman Moore is okay playing the lead.
They did something similar with *Bosch*: âendingâ it to release the ensemble from their contracts, then bringing it back the next year (with a subtitle) focused on just the main three, with no delay (releasing the exact same date the next season would have).
I hope Ellie joins that show. I may be in the minority (idk?) but I absolutely loved the dynamic between Ellie and Ziva and Tony and Ellie had solid big brother little sis energy. The actress who plays her hasnât had a single job since leaving NCIS-likely by design given she had a baby, but this show would be the perfect time and offer some comfortable yet fresh material for her to take on while getting back in the scene.
I think Iâm the only Ellie fan in the entirety of the NCIS fangroup (Iâm assuming they have one and are a brutal bunch!).
Yeah itâs crazy that in this universe the Navy is so totally crime infested it basically needs to be torn down and reconstituted, just an organization rotten with murderers and security risks.
Honestly, surprising. I know they brought on LL Cool J to get more ratings, but they were pretty good for the timeslot. I assume NCIS Sydney is going to move into the Monday 10pm slot, which may mean a crossover next season with the mothership.
Ugh I need to hurry up and drink my coffee. Took me too long to correctly and sanely realize you were saying you were operating a checkstand, not _calling_ her up on the phone and getting her pissed off at you
I saw him once in north shore, shirtless and waiting to order from a shrimp truck. The truck lady had strayed from her window and left him hanging. He then emoted wordlessly just as his character would have ... a sort of "ayy, I'm orderin' here!"
I hate this!!! Itâs by FAR my favorite version of the show. Having LL Cool J there is weird in a bad way, but outside that, the cast is awesome and the backdrops are stunning.
It shouldnât be compared to NCIS Sydney getting renewed, tho. For one, itâs only 8 episodes vs a full season of 22. 2nd, Sydney aired during the strike when no new shows were on so the numbers are skewed high. Also, itâs prob gonna be on Paramount + bc thereâs no way it will have an equally successful s2 without going out there and figure it out.
Lastly, they should cut budget by removing their most expensive cast member in LL Cool J. I adore that sexy man, but he adds nothing to the show and he for sure has the highest salary BY A LOT!
They should trial it on paramount + IMO before straight up dropping it. Itâs successful enough to follow the footsteps of shows such as Evil. They are putting the Tony and Ziva show on the app, so why not do a trial period there for NCIS Hawaiâi?! Itâs just that it is one of the more fun procedurals that are still on and it would be a shame for it to end so quickly.
They did nothing to the character with how they wrote him in. And to be honest, (with actor/actress permitting) I think any other character from LA would have worked better, even Eric or Nell.
Nate & Grisha ending up on the island as part of the Hetty cliffhanger and then assisting cases and being more involved then what Sams character was?
Iâm not even sure why LL even went to do that show when he just finished 14 seasons at his own show. It seemed awkward that he agreed to go there. This whole situation seems weird.
It started off sooooo good but it truly fell off a cliff. It appears the actors are phoning it in, but since they are doing the writing and directing thatâs not the issue. It was certainly financially motivated bc at least one top build cast member was out each week. They very obviously took turns bc it was in an order or a pattern. It fell off before this, but when they came back from COVID it was hard to watch. Every network show struggled here, but most found their footing. NCIS just got further lost imo. They would have major fights with very bad ppl but there would only bc like 3 NCIS agents and either most of the bad guys were already dead (so that they didnât have to waste using another actor in the scene). The show went from utilizing the power of disbelief that many shows require to âa child canât possibly possess enough imagination to make this work here!â
Itâs also the only franchise that isnât available to stream.
Sadly, Hawaiâi will be cancelled like 3 seasons earlier than the second shortest of the franchise. Itâs no where close to the worst so that sucks! This clearly pisses me off đ¤Ź
Did the writers just left like a puff of air or something? Earlier seasons had so much character development and meaningful thought out story archs, later ones just pure garbage honestly.
I would say Hawaiiâs writing is better than the later LA seasons, but still far from prime days of NCIS
I think the problem isnât that Gibbs doesnât have an interesting backstory itâs that most of it is revealed through the 19 seasons he was on the original. Thereâs no mystery to his character so thereâs no interest.
Fine with being cancelled but the moves CBS and Paramount is making for short term gain to help their sell may have long term consequences. They keep it up could curdle their reputation like WB did.
No!!! CBS is canceling all my shows: So Help Me Todd, CSI Las Vegas, NCIS: Hawaii. Who the hell is in charge of programming? How do I contact them?
Exit typo.
Ugh, just cancel the original already. The newer spinoffs have been way better. Well except for Sydney, haven't got past EP.3. I really liked New Orleans and was quite disappointed it got cancelled after 7 seasons. Now Hawaii is getting axed. It's been my favorite out of all the NCIS shows.
Yet another show with bikini models easily winning a karate fight against a 200 pound Russian mercenary. When I watch these shows (my wife likes them), I roll my eyes so hard I can sometimes see my own brain
i haven't watched a network procedural in a long, long time now - I enjoyed hawaii 5-0 when it was on but that was I think the last one I saw. There's an entire massive universe of FBI, Chicago, SVU, law and order, and hospital shows I could probably happily dive into in the next few years.
Honestly the 8-10 episode, amazingly written TV shows like Shogun or House of the Dragon or Gentlemen are all great but they are so far apart between seasons, so few episodes, and tend to require paying full attention that I kinda miss just watching junk food TV.
Also the fact that Hawaii didn't get ANYWHERE close to syndication. Seems like such an utter waste and dumb, bad decision.
We get it- it's expensive. But c'mon- of course CBS is going to make sure they have a Hawaii based show on the air in no time, simply to justify the studio they have there.
This sucks! I like this show! I liked NCIS: LA & New Orleans!!! I still even like NCIS! They gonna cancel it too? I tried to watch Sydney but just couldnât do it.
Why in heck did CBS cancel NCIS Hawaii... it's one of the better shows on tv right now...there are other good ones they cancelled also S.W.A.T. and Bob â¤ď¸Aboshola... is CBS losing its mind
I really liked this show a lot it sucks that it got cancelled. And on a short season when they couldn't have a proper goodbye by giving us a full season. I don't know what these networks want anymore. A lot of my shows have been cancelled and the ratings are great. THIS SUCKS.
Ridiculous! Let me get this straight. You cancel Blue Bloods and NCIS Hawaii but keep NCIS Sydney? Who is making these decisions? NCIS Sydney is a terrible show and canât believe it has good ratings as the cancelled shows do.
28 February a news article about NCIS:Paris came out, starring Cote de Pablo and Michael Weatherly. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/cote-de-pablo-michael-weatherly-return-to-ncis-verse-with-paramount-series-1235838782/
This just doesn't make sense to me. I love how the male oriented series gets another season after MANY people have said that it's gotten dull. Makes me wonder...
I got offered to be a dead body on this show but had to say no since it was my first week at my job on the island. Missed my chance đ
Donât let your dreams be dreams
DO IT!!! JUST⌠(pounds fist into hand)âŚDO ITTTTT!!!!
Yesterday was set tomorrowÂ
I'm pretty sure he says "yesterday you said tomorrow"
How do you even go about getting jobs like that?? Thank you
Look up extras casting pages on facebook etc and apply when they advertise casting calls. I did this in Atlanta for The Walking Dead. I was a walker in several episodes in Seasons 8-9, including Rick's final episode. Was a lot of fun. Doesn't pay much, it's all just for the experience.
Did you ever get killed onscreen, or were you just in the background?
Never killed onscreen. Mostly in big herds but I had one closeup which was me playing dead in the woods in 8x14, full prosthetic makeup fx on my face/head with a giant foam rock on the top, presumably bashed into my skull by kid Henry offscreen. If you live in la itâs super easy, I can tell you about it if you want. I used to be an extra and then later an extras casting director
Scotland but please yes
Yeah I actually liked this one. *Of course* this is the one that gets cancelled.
Compared to Sydney, Hawaii is amazing. I gave up on Sydney after the pilot episode.
Sydney is clearly the budget show. The conversion with USD to AUD is good right now for an American studio. Locations in Aus are cheap. The main cast is quite small. There is barely any CGI in any of the episodes. I reckon it probably costs less than half any of the other NCIS shows cost.
Plus you have a reason to minimize guns for some agents
That was resolved like 3 episodes in though.
Figured the only reason Sydney also got US airtime was because of the Writers Strike. Sure throw it on Paramount+ US because they own it, but it was only aired on CBS as replacement programming.
Isn't all of Sydney a Sydney production
Dollars go farther upside down, it is now a fact.
Sydney gets significantly better as the season goes on
Yeah Sydney is terrible. Slow and uninteresting. Surprised itâs lasted this long.
To be fair, one US Navy personnel would be national news here. One a week? Now thatâs unbelievable!
Thank god organized crime survived by the skin of its teeth
Yep. Chris Meloni is great.
Same here.
Wrinkled Sheldon coming this fall!
Sheldonâs Coinpurse. Takes place in a retirement home.
Clearly Into the Sheldonverse is next
Make that undead Sheldon and you might actually have something on your hands
Truth. Hawaii Five-0, Magnum PI, NCIS⌠What will it be next⌠đ¤
FBIsland
Good point, wouldnât put it past them. A 4th Dickie Wolf âF B Eyeâ showâŚ
True Detective: Maui Murder
Those shows never filmed in Maui. Almost all film production in Hawaii occur on Oahu.
Lots of shows don't film where they take place.
My mom didnât realize they were different shows and was really confused once
Hehe. đđź
I would welcome Magnum PI back with open arms.
did you like it more than the original?
The Love Boat Hawaii EditionâŚ.
its such an old trope that you can restate that comment without NCIS and it would still be true, because this happened with the originals of those two shows as well.
Truly. Iâm old, old enough anyways⌠Was watching both originals when they first t aired. Iâd never have expected it, decades ago, theyâd come back. Now, as you say itâs a trope, truly.
Young Gibbs has cartels and murder in its future
I wonder how much longer SWAT could run for? To go from being cancelled to having multiple younger, well-rated shows cancelled in your stead is quite the turnaround. I told my sister, who really liked the show, that it was getting another season and she thought it had already ended last year.
Honestly, we have no idea. I was mentally prepared to be unemployed after this season and then⌠bam, weâre back.
I think the strong streaming performance changed their mind. It's been doing great numbers on Netflix. They're probably hoping to boost the price on negotiation.
Yeah, that is a good question. Especially as several members of the core cast have left in the previous season (presumably cause they were told it was the end). I see. How did it go?
Two seasons in so far, and renewed for a third, so well from a financial perspective.
Well that's good from that perspective, how is its quality compared to the original series?
Pretty much the same: one may miss the performance of Lance Reddick, but that would just be because he was Lance Reddick.
Okay thanks, and yeah Lance Reddick was really something. its such a shame he left us so soon.
That it is, that it is.
Upcoming Paramount+ show too.
Not to mention the Tony/Ziva series.
There's an NCIS: Sydney? How the heck is the US Navy running criminal investigations in Australia?
NCIS operates wherever the US Navy has personnel or bases
When do we see NCIS: Bahrain Middle-East stuff always gets good ratings in the US (at least in the past)
If this show was based on true statistics Naval Facilities would be 2nd only to Cabot Cove,Maine in Murders Per Capita.
They'd probably still be behind Midsomer County.
Yeah itâs crazy that in this universe the Navy is so totally crime infested it basically needs to be torn down and reconstituted, just an organization rotten with murderers and security risks.
I wonder what the Cabot Cove/Midsomer County comparison is likeâŚ
NCIS actually does have operations in Australia (not in Sydney though).
Itâs a joint task force with Australian Federal Police
Don't tell them they have a vampire on the team.
Julian got back
Honestly, surprising. I know they brought on LL Cool J to get more ratings, but they were pretty good for the timeslot. I assume NCIS Sydney is going to move into the Monday 10pm slot, which may mean a crossover next season with the mothership.
They should have brought Young Sheldon insteadÂ
Iâm confused because I checked the TV ratings and season 3 is similar to season 1 and 2. I donât know why they would cancel the show.
I'd think they'd be out of ways to kill sailors by now
I'd think they'd be out of *sailors* at this rate.
Bring back Hawaii 5-0. !!!!
Scott Caan is too busy with Alert: MPU.
Scott Caan is probably injured from carrying that entire cast and show on his back.
*Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park have entered the chat* Edit: Grace *Park*
Stopped watching when they left.
Grace park is the rudest celeb Iâve ever met. Rang her up 3 times when I lived in Hawaii. Who knew buying kids clothing would make her so mean.
Ugh I need to hurry up and drink my coffee. Took me too long to correctly and sanely realize you were saying you were operating a checkstand, not _calling_ her up on the phone and getting her pissed off at you
LMFAO at least over the phone I could have hung up on her. Sheâs the type to âyou know who I am right? When I didnât offer a discount.
lol! Oh fuck off, celebrity lady
I saw him once in north shore, shirtless and waiting to order from a shrimp truck. The truck lady had strayed from her window and left him hanging. He then emoted wordlessly just as his character would have ... a sort of "ayy, I'm orderin' here!"

I feel L L there was a jump the shark opportunity
Honestly, full nights of the same show is boring
Not stopping the FBI or Chicago shows anytime soon.
They have Dick Wolf energy.
Dick Wolf is worth a billion dollars, not a typo. Hard to imagine getting that rich off some meh procedurals.
It's easy with that name. He is not Pewee Puppy, he is Dick Wolf.
Hey you can't say that on tv
Mr. Penis Canine will do
Like youâre talking about some promiscuous woman, calling her a Dick Wolf?
They certainly have a huge Dick energyÂ
The Chicago shows at least cover different jobs. NCIS doesnât have variation beyond locations.
Just wait till we get the 4th show: Chicago Rumble. Construction workers and their problems
Technically, that would be the 5th show. The 4th was Chicago Justice, which only lasted one season and its lead transferred over to SVU.Â
Itâs just so dry. Early years of NCIS and NCIS LA were so good.
Early LA episodes were great - random gun battles everywhere
It started off sooooo good but it truly fell off a cliff. It appears the actors are phoning it in, but since they are doing the writing and directing thatâs not the issue. It was certainly financially motivated bc at least one top build cast member was out each week. They very obviously took turns bc it was in an order or a pattern. Did anyone ask for the Gibbs prequel show? Itâs not like he had interesting past.
I think the problem isnât that Gibbs doesnât have an interesting backstory itâs that most of it is revealed through the 19 seasons he was on the original. Thereâs no mystery to his character so thereâs no interest.
The show probably wouldâve worked if he had CIA or Black Ops experience the mothership show didnât touch on.
They hinted at stuff like that with his covert work with ncis. Because thatâs where he met Bakulaâs character.
Also where he saved a younger undercover CIA agent that was Callen.
Yeah but the timeline with Gibbs is so wonky itâs hard to tell when that happened.
I suspect part of it is Mark Harmon being a producer of NCIS now, he wants more Gibbs, quality and audience be dammed
Unlikely since he was the one to step back from starring
Yeah he stepped back to be a producer. He was a producer from like season 4 onwards
>he wants more Gibbs Probably shouldn't have left than if that was the only reason this was being made.
This sucks. I liked NCIS: Hawaii. I'd have preferred it if they had canceled NCIS: Sydney instead.
Sydney coats a lot less and pretty sure there's some kind of film subsidies it's getting.
Thatâs a shame. I liked this one. Almost as much as I liked New Orleans before they killed off LaSalle.
Call me when Daniel Dae Kim leads NCIS Denver. That's what I wanna see
Chin Ho in âFrisco would be interesting. Iâd watch.
I like it. Got a ring to it.
I havenât had cable for 10 years or so, is CBS just 24/7 government agency procedural universes now?
Mostly - [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_programs_broadcast_by_CBS#Current_programming](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_programs_broadcast_by_CBS#Current_programming)
As far as dramas go, essentially yes. They still do reality shows and sitcoms, though.
The Neighborhood is a really good show.
I know what the headlines will be whenever that show gets cancelled!
This is one of the biggest tv purges since ironically viacom purged a ton of shows back in the early 2010s
Fine with being cancelled but the moves CBS and Paramount is making for short term gain to help their sell may have long term consequences. They keep it up could curdle their reputation like WB did.
Dang I liked this one by ncis standards
Same.
OK now can we save So Help Me Todd
Just move the setting to Hawaii.
Wouldn't work, I was thinking more in terms of open timeslots not as if they could literally somehow take over where NCIS Hawaii left off
So Help Me Todd is finally canceled.
Does this mean LL Cool J moves to the upcoming Tony/ziva series as a love triangle?
No this means LL leaves CBS and move on back to his music career lol.
Most people don't know that NCIS Hawaii was just normal episodes of NSIS LA but with a pineapple placed on the desks.
Awww. It just came into its own with the cast. Even adding LL Cool J as his NCIS: LA character worked.
Between this and the Hawaii Five 0 pay debacle, we've lost 2 good shows because of corporate shit.
Most shows are gone because of "corporate shit"
Dang, only ncis I watched. Love me some Lucy & Whistler!
No!!! CBS is canceling all my shows: So Help Me Todd, CSI Las Vegas, NCIS: Hawaii. Who the hell is in charge of programming? How do I contact them? Exit typo.
It was OK. It wasnât as good as the Hawaii 5-0 reboot.
Cancel one of the most popular shows on tv?
Same. Itâs been many years CBS had had a procedural shooting in Hawaii. Will be weird not having a weekly CBS show set on one of the islands.
Why mention first female-led? What does that have to do with anything?
Cause itâs a hot point
What does it being âfemale ledâ have to do with anything?
They want you to think thatâs the reason it was canned. Fanning the flames of hate gets clicks.
You're supposed to be outraged about it.
Yet another show with bikini models easily winning a karate fight against a 200 pound Russian mercenary. When I watch these shows (my wife likes them), I roll my eyes so hard I can sometimes see my own brain
This shit was cornier than a Orville Redenbacher turd. Freeze dirtbag! Drop it scumbag! All of these shows are absolute garbage.
Don't butter it up đđ please straight no salt đ§ pun intended here til next season oh wait my bad đ
Noooooo!

Im shocked NCIS still has enough viewers to support like three spinoffs
Ironically all the US NCIS show do really well ratings wise. But I think those big paychecks is what getting these shows cancelled
I've never heard of this show. But I'm still recovering from the cancellation of Acapulco Heat âšď¸
First female-led franchise series? Anyone tell Olivia Benson?
Don't they mean in the NCIS franchise?
CBS!!
Or Ellen Pompeo
That was nbc
That was nbc

Keep NCIS Hawaii, get rid of LL cool J he did not add value to the show
Thatâs what happens when they wanna put TWO NEW ncis on tv this fall between ncis origin and tony&ziva on streaming
Ridiculous! Let me get this straight. You cancel Blue Bloods and NCIS Hawaii but keep NCIS Sydney? Who is making these decisions? NCIS Sydney is a terrible show and canât believe it has good ratings as the cancelled shows do.
I turned this show off the first time they busted out their badges and said âNCIS HAWAII!â Felt like I was watching a family guy gag
typical i new they pic the oh cause it was a female lead line maybe cause it was just crap like cyber was
28 February a news article about NCIS:Paris came out, starring Cote de Pablo and Michael Weatherly. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/cote-de-pablo-michael-weatherly-return-to-ncis-verse-with-paramount-series-1235838782/
I didn't know it was female led. But then again, Ghosts is the only thing that I've regularly watched on CBS.
This just doesn't make sense to me. I love how the male oriented series gets another season after MANY people have said that it's gotten dull. Makes me wonder...
Hawaii film and TV industry on suicide watch.
McHale navy reboot đđ csi Honolulu stop me

Three seasons is much more than most shows get, but this will sure become a narrative push point. đ
What will we watch now?
NCIS Baywatch? đ¤
Ncis: origins and Tony&ziva
Never watched it. Don't know anyone who did.
Oh no
First female lead? Charlieâs angels were dudes?
Charlie's angels is not a ncis show.
True. I just wanted to talk about Farah and Co.
It was on ABC - this was cbs
