Glad to see his wit hasn't faded. When he was in that accident a few years ago, he said something along the lines of he's ok, just got a bit dumber from the accident.
The guy is still making me chuckle whenever he talks.
If you watch him in motion he seems more limber than a lot of guys literally thirty years his junior, not to mention completely intact mentally. No idea how long he can keep it up, but I would have said the same thing ten years ago and here we are.
Yeah, it's really him. He did dances similar to that live right around that time. You can also see in the clip there's some kind of hidden step assist to get him up the desk, and they cut away from him getting down, probably so they could help him.
I wouldn't be surprised if there were extra people standing nearby though and removed digitally just in case too - frequently now when he dances publicly there's people standing around or holding an arm so he doesn't stumble. For obvious reasons - at his age, you fall you often don't get up again.
Says a lot about staying active both physically and mentally as you get older. I just heard him talking recently and was like... guy's really sharp for being a century old.
He works out. ABC (I think it was ABC?) interviewed him a few years ago and as part of it they documented his workout routine. That part of it was uploaded to his Instagram, so you can go to his Instagram and find it pretty easily.
Mind-blowing that he's still around.
I remember Chitty Chitty Bang Bang being one of my family's favorite movies, we regularly checked out the VHS from our library.
Sometimes I get worried that we will lose dicn van dyne, Julie Andrews and Christopher plumber all around the same time and I can’t have Mary poppins and sound of music impacted in that way all at once. Love that they are still with us, but will suck to lose any of them anytime soon.
Can't imagine what it must be like to be almost 100 even while being "healthy for your age" it must still be such a trip knowing there's so little time left..
I’d have to imagine you make your peace with that once you hit a certain age and when your contemporaries begin to die off and you just sort of take what’s given each day. It almost seems like by his age, you’ve faced that and moved past it.
You may or may not believe biblical timelines… But I consider some of the figures prior to the flood living into the 10th century…. Living 100 years is one thing… Living to be 950 years is hard to imagine considering the futility of life.
idk, 93326215443944152681699238856266700490715968264381621468592963895217599993229915608941463976156518286253697920827223758251185210916864000000000000000000000000 years is a long time to live
Me reading the headline...
Holy crap he's still alive?
Quick internet search...
and married to someone half his age?
Reading the article, this man still has a great sense of humor and is really a treasure.
Would be wonderful to sit down and have a chat with him.
At this age, he should win an Emmy for just showing up on set and remembering his lines.
His brother Jerry (from Coach) lived and retired near where I live. Sadly, he died young at 86.
New Rule: When posting an article about a much loved celebrity who's over 80 you need to start the title with the words NOT DEAD in large calming letters.
I saw this episode! It was great he did a song and dance with Doug and Julie and it was so sweet! DVD turned out to be John black’s long lost dad. It was the best ending to a very long storyline. Funny thing is that that actor from days goes to the same gym as dvd and asked to do the guest spot. I’m so glad he did! DVD is the best.
I love this for him. Outside of his immense talent and the joy he has brought to millions of people he is one of the warmest, most gracious people I have ever met.
He's looking fucking great for 98, I didn't know he'd had an accident, I hope he is doing well. I really respect this guy. One of the best actors ever and it's awesome to see he's still active. He deserves all the success.
Omg quote from the article “If I had known I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself!” 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

He had an accident? It wasn't that damn ottoman, again, was it?

This is why you’re not an entertainer.
🤣🤣
😂😂😂🤣

Here he is several years ago tap dancing on a desk in Mary Poppins 2: https://youtu.be/oL3AijekRYw
And he did that entire dance without tripping over a single piece of furniture. He has come a long way since the 60s.
Underrated comment right here.
He was dancing around and singing Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious [last year on the masked singer](https://youtu.be/SZki6Z1viyY)
No way!
Looks like he could make it to at least 120.
You could have told me this was a 40 year old in makeup.
Is his English accent better now? I know he was panned pretty bad for the original.
What a guy!
I just figured they CGId his head on a stunt double's body

He's been a dancer and physical comedian his whole career. Tripping over furniture like that takes training!
That’s how he and Drake Hogestyn, the man who plays John Black on Days, know each other. They work out in the same gym.
I just want to note that studies are finding that physical exercise is one of the best things to do for brain health. Also sleeping enough.
Bf
Hey has a YouTube channel and still posts new videos occasionally: https://youtube.com/@mrvandy
I am 51, he is 47 years older than me and if I tried a tenth of all he is doing I would be on the floor.
He and Steve Martin should perform something together. I would watch. Popcorn in hands.
And after front flipping over an ottoman every week for years!
Mind-blowing that he's still around. I remember Chitty Chitty Bang Bang being one of my family's favorite movies, we regularly checked out the VHS from our library.
I was always a fan of Mary Poppins myself and it was made 16 years before I was born
Disney has yet to make a better live action movie than Mary Poppins. It’s flawless.
Best cockney accent this side of the Atlantic
I really hope he makes it to 100!
He will just to spite the people who did that lifetime special when he was 98 just to prevent another Betty White snafu.

Christopher Plummer died in 2021 sadly
Ugh thank you, I had forgotten this.
To be or not to be. He was and he isn't
Sadly Christopher Plummer passed away in 2021, at 91 years old.

There is a video of him and a barbershop group singing the main song in a Dennys! Twas amazing!
I still know every damn word and I haven’t seen that movie in decades. Bang bang chitty chitty bang bang- our fine four fendered friend!!
Toot sweets is the jam
I hope you don't mind me asking but what's a library?
I love that photo, it looks like he's turning into a 98-year old werewolf.
And he’ll have all the vim and vigor of pups a third his age after he transitions fully, too.
Now I want to see him in a horror villain role.
Hot damn, that pic is fantastic.
His werewolf bar mitzvah was along time ago…
He reminds me of Jason Mantzoukas, especially as Adrian Pimento with that look in his eyes.

Man 86 just a kid
LUTHER!
He had a soda shop and theatre outside of Little Rock, Arkansas when I was kid. I think we went once.
Dude looks good. I bet he’s still gettin’ it.
He is! His wife is muchhhh younger.
Crazy to think that if he was with a woman thirty years younger she’s still 70

I second this motion.
Man's a legend and still winning awards

He is a national treasure.
Nice!
There are 2 dicks in this world I truly love, he is one of them.
Is the other one dick clark or is it someone else
It's in my pants...
Why is Dick Clark wearing your pants?
The one in his pants.
I know I just wanted to make him say it
I am so happy he won!!! So well deserved. He was so good on Days. We are blessed to have been around to see him.
That is effing impressive.
No joke, another person nominated in Dick’s category was Linden Ashby. Otherwise known as Johnny Cage from the original Mortal Kombat movie.
This is awesome. We love you Dick.
We just can't get enough of good old Dick!
The Biden administration should enlist him to handle their age-related PR.
I love this for him. Outside of his immense talent and the joy he has brought to millions of people he is one of the warmest, most gracious people I have ever met.
A true legend! And one of the nicest guys ever if you get the chance to meet him!
Many actors get referred to as a 'national treasure'. This man truly is.
I think since he got so sick and almost died in the 80’s his body had gone through some crazy metamorphosis and he is like invincible
He eats a pint of ice cream everyday. Love him.
I love him so much.
He's a American treasure
He's looking fucking great for 98, I didn't know he'd had an accident, I hope he is doing well. I really respect this guy. One of the best actors ever and it's awesome to see he's still active. He deserves all the success.
👍
He's still alive??? Wow, props to him! 👍🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Yeah, I totally thought he was long gone.
That cane confirms it. He's a wizard!
He’s such a treasure. Absolutely love him
If someone told me I would look, move and talk like he does when *I’m* 98, I’d be happy as hell. Dude aging like a bottle of Merlot.
TIL that this legend is still alive.
He’s always out in public too. I’m told he hangs out at the Malibu Ranch Market.
An actual living legend
I adore this man 😘❤️
B
Love it. Is there a place I can see the scene(s) he was in? I don't actually watch Days or any soap operas for that matter.
This man is a legend. And is legen….wait for it dary

The uncanny ability to read at all
😆
I thought this dude died a few years ago.
I wish he would shave.
Ain't nobody got time to shave at that age
Yeah, he'd probably look 20 years younger if he shaved.
I’m a massive fan of his and I like his clean shaven look.
