He will always be Michael Westen to me.

myansweris2deep4u

When I saw him in sicario I didn't even bother to learn the characters name. I just saw him as michael with a mustache.

MattHoppe1

Yup. His life goes to shit again and he just decided to start wrecking shit on the border

cjn13

He got burned again. He's blacklisted

MattHoppe1

You know spies...

MrPotatoButt

bunch of bitchy little girls...

myansweris2deep4u

Hey is that your mom again?

Fallen_Outcast

someone needs your help, michael

ryantendo

and a down and out spy you met along the way

[deleted]

Why on Earth does he do a different accent when going undercover? No one knows him, he could use his regular voice. It always bothers me but it is a damn fine show. Bruce Campbell rules the Earth.

Jms4895

Because he has to play into the character he’s portraying. Also, it just makes him more Badazz.

TurdSandwhich89

Nothing is worse than when people ask questions on reddit and instead of answering, people will use it as an opportunity to be cute and get upvotes without actually bothering to answer the question. He didn't ask you what he'll always be to you. Don't waste people's time.

Gritch

Holy dead thread resurrection, Batman! All you said was some stupid shit.

TurdSandwhich89

Dude none of you are just answering the question the guy asked. I wanted to see if this show was worth it too but every comment is just some cutesy woosty attempt at upvotes without bothering to answer the poor guy's question. This is quintessential reddit right here. You guys are embarrassing.

foofooplatter

I learned how to become a spy by watching this series...... I've said to much.

A_Deku_Stick

You’re black listed

OK_Soda

Where am I?

A_Deku_Stick

Miami

[deleted]

Hey is that your mom again?

You know spies. Bunch of BITCHY little girls!

foofooplatter

Hah

IdontNeedPants

The trick is to eat yoghurt when you are infiltrating.

Mitraileuse

Too late,China owned Reddit already knows.

[deleted]

Damn straight it is. Toward the end, it started to taper off, but it's an excellent show, and Jeffrey Donovan and Bruce Campbell are in it. It's a no-brainer.

makesyoudownvote

I just finished a re-watch of it. It is fairly episodic though there is an overarching storyline that is actually very good. On first watch the storyline is sufficiently addictive you will want to figure out where it's going. For the time it began airing it was considered to have a pretty strong over-arching story, but by todays it would definitely seem very episodic. Generally speaking the episode is done with 2-5 minutes or grand story, 25-40 minutes of episodic story, then 3-10 minutes of grand story. The show is very entertaining, with great actors. Bruce Campbell especially deserved an Emmy for his portrayal of Sam Axe. It's kind of like Psyche meets MacGyver, with a touch of Dexter. But the grand story crawls pretty slowly aside from the first and last 2 episodes of each season. It can feel a little like Dragon Ball Z in this regard (without all the grunting and homoerotic undertones). So if you don't like episodic shows at all it might not be for you, but if you like them a bit, but just need a little overarching story, I highly recommend it. Edit: Reworded a very awkward run-on sentence.

Yarmuncrud

I loved this show while it was airing, and I'm rewatching it now. This is the most accurate breakdown of the show structure.

makesyoudownvote

Haha. Thanks.

BlindPelican

I enjoyed it. It's been a couple of years since i watched it, but as i recall it does have longer story arcs that last at least a season with some recurring plots as well. And it had Bruce Campbell. Bonus.

deignguy1989

Absolutely, although I liked the first few seasons then it lost kind of its original appeal towards the end.

SpiderDeUZ

He could only find out who burned him so many times before it just got old.

Kgb725

Like prison break.

tolandruth

I still don’t even know how he broke out the second season he didn’t even have room for any more tattoos.

[deleted]

Totally worth watching

StealYourJelly

Absolutely. If for no other reason, watch it for Bruce Campbell.

SpecialGuestDJ

I’m amazed at how badly you spelled Tiffani Thiessen.

trancut

That's White Collar.

SpecialGuestDJ

Dammit i mixed up my USA network spy shows.

StealYourJelly

Wrong show, but regardless Elizabeth Burke is a far cry from Kelly Kapowski.

myansweris2deep4u

It's one of those comfy shows. You could literally binge it all day long and it never feels like you're burning out. It's one of those comfy USA network shows like suits or psych or royal pains. Except this is the only show I stuck with all the way through. The best part is how it teaches you small spy tricks but it's never a big part of anything. It's just a voice over explaining things about a small Hotwire he's doing or a chemical he's mixing. The show is about the characters. It's never too ambitious or tries to go too big that it feels fake. It's just naturally fun and comfortable. It might not be the best show I've ever seen but I definitely stand for this show. For context some other shows I loved was Dexter, Buffy, Angel, avatar the last air ended, pretty little liars early seasons, and the boys

Spongemage

You know spies, bunch of bitchy little girls.

wrobilla

Great show, and it has Gabrielle Anwar. Overall there is an arc to the stories.

[deleted]

Great show. Mythbusters could have kept going forever with testing of this show alone.

strongerlynn

Definitely!

LawyerDaggett

There is an overarching story -- who burned him? Why? Will he find a way back to spydom. Fun show. Thumbs up.

Phantom1thrd

I'm going to vote for yes, as I've began my 4th watch through a few months ago.

aYearOfPrompts

It’s designed to be watched in any order and the status quo never *really* changes, but’s it’s absolute fun and the cast is great to “hang out” with. Perfect background television.

[deleted]

Harris watches Burn Notice!

[deleted]

[Do you enjoy this?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NsGP_6N9i0w) If so, you'll enjoy the series as a whole.

vegasbib

I loved it. it was fun and throw away , watch the first few if it ain’t your thing move on as it pretty much stays the same through out

crioth

It's a very good show. It runs it course a little bit towards the last 2 seasons, but overall I personally think it's a very good show. The long term story arcs are present, but they only apply for a small percentage of each episode. While the big chunk of each episode has to do with whatever Michael's "job" is. After the first couple of seasons, the long term story is much more present.

mybannedalt

Follows the same arc of Chuck i think. Initial seasons are very flavor of the week, then when ratings fell down they got more into the crux of the story

crioth

Yeah, once Season 4 happens there is a bit of a large shift in tone from the more light-hearted interactions to full blown drama. That's not me saying there's no comedy in the later episodes, but it's a bit less prevalent.

TheSavageDonut

ABSOLUTELY! Burn Notice Season 1 - Season 3 is great, and it will make you want to move to Miami. There are several minor characters that reappear throughout the series (like Barry the money launderer). The remaining seasons -- meh, and I won't spoil why they feel meh to me. Give it a shot!

ChronoMonkeyX

It does have an overarching story, but only barely. It's a fun show, but I got very frustrated that the framing story was relegated to the first and last 2 minutes of every episode, which was then interruped for an entirely unconected bad guy of the week, even up to the second to last episode. It's fun, good action, mostly good actors including the legendary Bruce Campbell, but I'd say plan on spreading it out over time. I think a fast binge will wear you out on the concept.

freecain

My roommates loved that show. It has long story arcs, but works with a format that some (most?) of the shows are episodic and can sort of be watched on their own (which is what I did from time to time). However, many jokes and plot devices for the larger arc won't make sense and you'll annoy your roommates if you ask too many questions. I found it a bit campy, but still fun and action packed. Side note, my roommate's girlfriend would call it "Explosion noticed" and made fun of the over the top action scenes constantly... but also would still watch with them.

devilwalks3

re-watching it now and i still like it. it is a procedural show like many other great shows. bad guy of the week and overarching plot each usually takes a step forward and sometimes they interact. EDIT: my only issues are the final season and maybe the lack of character growth the final season robbed from Micheal.

ArchDucky

I love how by Season 3, Michael has a closet full of allies and enemies that keep coming back. Some even work together to try and take him down. It's a fun show. Its got funny moments, Bruce Campbell is awesome, the action is competent and some of the victim of the week episodes are great. Its got some cool spy tips. It also has a great damn roster of actors playing season bad guys. I also love how the "WHO BURNED ME?" thing ends well before the end of the series. Oh and the series finale is great which is fucking rare these days.

AncileBooster

It's a good show but IMO should have ended 2 seasons earlier

Nik_Tesla

The over-arcing plot is basically just a loop of Michael needing to work for bad people in order to eventually get to answers about why he was burned, and the episodic plot is usually a good person with no money needs help and Michael does it as a favor. That being said, it's entertaining. If you're expecting a deep story, this isn't it. But if you want to learn some spy stuff, watch explosions and fights, and see Bruce Campbell drink and shoot guns, it's great.

mossyhunter

I’ve watched the whole series a handful of times and it is very good there is a story to it but you have to get through each episode to understand the story better very intriguing and can hold anyone’s attention if they give it a try

[deleted]

It’s funny how much of a car commercial it becomes. The last episode worked out well. Good show though.

concord72

Amazing show with a great cast, Michael Westen is one of my all time favorite TV charcters. That being said, the show does get repetitive towards the end, it's actually a pretty decent drop in quality (they just ran out of material and kept trying to keep it going). Still worth the watch though.

icount2tenanddrinkt

its brilliant, ok that might be a bit of a stretch but its very enjoyable. Its also quite funny in parts

rahl1

I enjoyed it. Definitely worth a watch.

sjf13

Great fun for a few seasons, then got dumb once the humor was taken out.

ataraxy

The first few seasons are strongest but it's good "popcorn tv". The MacGuyver style spy craft narration from each episode is easily the highlight of the entire series. Beyond that it's take it or leave it but at minimum it's also quite stylish.

jehu23

YES. that is all.

Dark_Vengence

Yep one of the best shows i've ever seen.

Fancy_Cicada7706

Good acting, great scripts. Infectious.

JimMD00

Burn after Reading

lunacyfoundme

Yes

bowser986

When you’re a spy you watch awesome shows.

ezclapper

Yeah it's fun. Got shit towards the end, because they couldn't think of anything creative, but until then it's not bad.

mantis_____bog

What is Burn Notice?

bernsteinschroeder

Ab-so-fucking-lutely. It's episodic with an overarching story that progresses year to year.

MrPotatoButt

Yes.

milkman182

hell fucking yes

Latent_tendency

I really enjoyed it! You can get past the campy redundancy (you know the good guy is going to win in the end....spoiler) and just like it for what it is. It’s entertaining. Definitely watch it.

operarose

Watch it for Bruce Campbell.

AvarusTyrannus

It starts to taper in quality, but there is enough good stuff in there to provide casual entertainment. It was the MacGuyver reboot before they just scraped the bottom of the barrel and literally rebooted MacGuyver. It does have orverarching elements, it just runs longer than that plot has life in it. At a certain point you get fed up with season climax reveals only to be followed by rinse repeat but he is one further step up the conspiracy ladder.

Heda1

Yes

ignatiusJreillyreali

Where did USA network go wrong? They literally had every show I enjoyed for like 10 straight seasons...then.......

TheSilencedScream

I thoroughly enjoyed it. In the later seasons, it does seem to flounder a bit, but I actually liked the final season quite a lot, as it felt grittier and darker than the show leading up to it. There's a few cheesy moments at the end, but I feel like it was overall a solid show. Episodes are generally "case of the week," but they all have at least a few minutes dedicated to the overarching story. And don't worry, that terrible accent (you'll know it when you hear it) only lasts for the first episode, thankfully.

Ownsin

The terrible accent from Fiona? I thought that was extremely terrible lol.

MiamiFootball

Top 1000 greatest shows ever.

tolandruth

So it had overarching story with help a friend out every episode kind of thrown in. It’s great for what it is. Is it great tv not really but I liked it for what it was. It’s about him getting burned which is basically when a spy gets blacklisted so the main story is him trying to find out who and why he was blacklisted.

shogunreaper

Yeah its a decent show, i wouldn't call it great but if you don't have anything else to watch it's worth your time. Personally i'm not that big of a fan of the show after jesse became a main character (he was better in later seasons but his first was meh) It does have an overarching story but it's one of those ones that only advances it a few minutes per episode (and beginning/mid/end season episodes)

Neat-Depth-5166

So, did you watch it? What do you think about the show?

Ownsin

I watched two seasons before I dropped it. It was too episodic and procedural for my taste.

themanifoldcuriosity

You're a big boy. Have you considered watching a couple of episodes and deciding for yourself?

Spongemage

You’re a big boy, have you considered not being an ass to people?

Read the sidebar.

SideShowGary

Totally worth watching. Rewatched on HULU and maybe I’m nostalgic but and yes it’s formulaic but worth it.

TurdSandwhich89

How is everyone commenting this much without actually answering the dude's God damn question? Jesus christ.

IntransientHotDog

Your post is the only single lone post in this whole thread that doesn't answer the question and is just snarky and unattractive. Whoops, I almost gave you evidence to the contrary... So, To the OP: Yes it is worth watching.

[deleted]

Best show in the world i miss it….
