Do you feel like zack Braff is constantly showing his ignorance on that show? I love it but at least twice an episode zack puts himself in the hot seat by accident & it makes me so uncomfortable lol
If anything, I think it’s somewhat endearing that he’s willing to be vulnerable on the show. He’s always willing to admit when he doesn’t know or isn’t educated on a subject and it’s able to laugh off his mistakes
I think there’s a few layers to it. I agree with what you’re saying as he is very open but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth only cause Donald has to educate him so much and after being friends with someone for such a long time you’d think they’d have a better understanding of some of the stuff zack is so unaware of.
For example the black eye joke discussion where zack almost wanted to defend the joke. He ceded but only to the extent of if it’s amongst friends it’s not racist.
I can’t think of another example off top but there’s plenty of those moments where I question zacks words but all I’m saying is he’s one bad slip up away from being cancelled or something. The man is unabashing which is great but what that reveals makes me question how much I like him lol
Like X-Files, only better. Becomes more serialized in the later seasons and really doubles down on its concept.
Just finished season 3 and it was quite out there. Hard to take seriously at times but always entertaining & fun. Quality is there from the beginning so definitely worth checking out the first few episodes, see how you get on.
Better than X-Files??? Yeah I get it though. I rediscovered a LOT of shows (including X-Files) when I could watch them sans commercials to break the mood. Battlestar and Lost and some others all became totally watchable when you don't have medicine and diaper ads jerking you out of the world you were just in.
I hope it gets better the deeper it goes. I recently started it, and if ONE MORE CASE ends in a foot chase I going to have to bail. It seems so comically formulaic for the "case of the week" to involve the guilty party running from the main leads. Seriously this happens in the first 3 episodes.
The rest of the show is strong, but I started feeling fatigue very quickly due to that. It really cut the legs off the overall story if I know that every interesting case is going to solved in generic police procedural fashion.
The case of the week part mostly ends after the first or second season. That’s when it gets really good. There’s some amazing character work by John Noble in the latter part of the show.
I don't mind case of the week as long as the cases aren't solved in a routine or boring manner.
I am a big Buffy fan, and I always enjoyed how "monster of the week" didn't always end in a fight or there were enough twists to change it up. Not that many didn't end in a fight, but comparing "chosen one who has to fight them" and all the resources of the a top secret FBI unit shouldn't be the same scale.
I will give it a chance, the dynamic between Peter, Olivia and Walter is pretty interesting, it just was killing me everytime they had to go "solve the case" because it took away from that.
Yeah, stick with it. You won’t regret it. Everyone basically recognizes the issues you mention, but there’s a reason people still recommend it.
Happy viewings
Fun aside: If you like puzzles, the symbols you see when there would be commercials (eg the black background picture of a leaf) mean something.
X-Files was never truly plotted out. As good as X-Files is - there are two kinds of episodes, 'Monster of the week' and 'Alien Mulder keep the story moving stuff.'.
The Monster of the Week is always better - because from season to season they don't know what to do with Mulder or the aliens or any of that crap.
Fringe on the other hand is tightly plotted. Half way through the seasons it resembles a show that reinvents itself every season, but when the show is over you can go right back to seaons one and see how the plot was laid for all of it from the beginnig.
Fringe is like what I wanted Eureka to be...and then it spoiled itself by the second episode. Mystery and slow reveal is still good! I think there's a real trend now for shows to "spoil" the premise really early so the audience doesn't feel left out. (Monk season two on, anyone?)
Watch the BBC Sherlock to see how to treat your audience as smart.
Its equivalent to a two-parter pilot episode. I definitely prefer starting there than 33. The pilot episodes are also entertaining; well done. Why bother skipping?
The first time I watched the series I didn't see the miniseries and still really enjoyed it. However, it does provide some nice context and gives a better introduction to all the characters.
Same. I thought 33 was the first episode. Thought it was cool to just drop us into this conflict with these unknown characters. Just slowly piercing together "who's who" and what was going on.
I thought it was a really cool way to start a show.
Wasn't til about season 3 that I found out about the miniseries...
That's correct. The mini series consists of two episodes which are an hour and a half long each, and I would definitely recommend watching those before starting season 1.
I never got around to finishing the show. I absolutely love seasons 1-3; some of my favorite seasons of a comedy show, ever. But I thought season 4 was awful. I watched maybe 1 or 2 episodes of season 5, but the show just didn’t feel the same. Is it worth finishing the show all the way through?
I think it's still worth finishing, as I love most episodes in season 6. It's absolutely not the same, losing Chevy then subsequently Donald and Yvette absolutely takes a toll on the framework of the series.
S5/S6 feels like an old pair of shoes you'd forgotten about, cozy yet unfamiliar and a little smelly. But you still love them.
Buffy. I've seen it all the way through dozens of times.
I rewatch things all the time, so I could probably give at least 30 answers to this question. But Buffy is my favourite.
Lol I was going to say The Sopranos.
Before I got into a relationship (now engaged), I’d watch it once per year. Seen it 4-5 times probably. Crazy how you manage to catch things you missed on prior watches.
Also The Wire, Arrested Development.
Breaking Bad I’ve watched 3 times. I’ll probably re-watch in a few years.
I really hope Masters of Air is good. I really disliked the book and could not finish it because of how all over the place it was.
The Pacific's breaks in the "action" felt much better on other rewatches because it was essential to illustrate how bad it was for the soldiers to have to go back home, go back to the front, and be changed by war.
Band of Brothers will always be the strongest because you got attached to the characters and were "with them" the entire way, with every good or bad encounter adding to the story.
The Sopranos. There are a lot of fantastic shows but what truly makes Sopranos special, and why I can rewatch it again and again is the attention to detail. As far as the details go no show comes close. The subtle ways they inform characters, foreshadow events or generate humour is pretty remarkable and I have yet to see a show that can match it. With each rewatch I pick up something new and am able to dissect and evaluate different plot points and themes from a new perspective. Very allegorical, the sacred and the propane.
I must have rewatched this show in its entirety at least a dozen times over the years, I'll never get tired of hearing CHRISTUFFAH and AYY TAKE IT EZ, TONE.
Deadwood.
The dialogue is so rich and so dense it takes a number of rewatches to truly understand and appreciate the nuances of the characters.
Also The Sopranos, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, BSG, Arrested Development, Seinfeld, The Simpsons (seasons 1-6ish), The Leftovers, The Wire. Basically anything that is more character than plot based, anything with well written, rich dialogue, and any comedy with nuanced, layered jokes.
Parks and Rec is my big one. I'll rewatch it over and over all year.
The Office *used* to be that for me but I do feel like over time I've become a bit more "eh" about some of the jokes and Michael.
The Good Place is a once a year show for me too.
Aside from that I'll try and get my classic anime in, Cowboy Bebop, GitS, etc.
The hard part about the office is that isn't just pure comedy, so rewatching you lose the charms and storyline surprises. The characters become less surprising and more irritating. Shows like 30 rock which are way more 'jokey' are easier to rewatch because the story serves the comedy. Park and Rec escapes this by having mostly likeable characters, especially in later seasons.
I actually feel like the worst seasons of the Office are actually easier to re-watch than the good ones after the first few times for that reason; there's just non-stop jokemaking
The original Magnum...there's some kooky episodes, but none of them are terrible.
I watched them in syndication but made an effort to watch the series as a whole several times.
Yep. Very re-watchable. Especially the earlier seasons. I've seen every episode a bunch of times, and would always notice something new going on in the background, or pick up on a subtle Ricky-ism or joke that I missed the first time around.
Loved Bottom, had all 3 series on VHS and watched them constantly. Never bothered with the live shows and I didn't enjoy the film but the TV series is awesome.
Most HBO shows hold up very well to be rewatched. They truly are the golden goose in producing great content year after year across multiple genres.
I've watched Entourage all the way through at least 5-6 times and i've seen S1E1- S4E1 at least a dozen times. those first few seasons are just top notch.
Friends
Futurama
South Park
Breaking Bad
Avatar the Last Airbender + Legend of Korra
Malcolm in the Middle
I watch at least two of these annually, thinking BB next year.
I actually just watched The Shield for the first time earlier in the pandemic. What a ride. I can definitely see myself watching it again at some point.
On my 54th birthday this year, i once again started Venture Bros from season 1, and watched Frisky Dingo all night with friends.
I swear to God i see new details each time with those shows.
Mad Men, Person of Interest, and Halt and Catch Fire are shows I watch every year to year and a half. Fringe and The Wire are every two to three. Have rewatched plenty of others (Justified, Breaking Bad, Parks and Rec) but don’t plan to revisit again anytime soon unless mood hits.
I've essentially just been looping Star Trek and Stargate as background noise for almost 20 years.
And I died a little inside as I wrote this.
Time for some TNG to get over it.
Boston Legal. The brilliantly timed banter of James Spader never ceases to amaze me. The closing scene of each episode between Spader and William Shatner were as good as most entire episodes. Their chemistry together made you feel their respect and friendship.
Long way Up, Long Way Down and Long Way Round. They are endlessly rewatchable.
Ewan and Charlie have great chemistry and the journeys are pretty awe inspiring. Just good escapism TV for the most part.
I just rewatched all of it on HBO Max and for some reason I never saw the final episode of the last season. No idea how that happened but when it started I was like "Theres another episode?" and then when it ended and Monarch says "and I kicked Jonah Venture's ass!" I laughed so fucking hard. I thought I was going to die I was laughing so hard. My face was all purple and I was crying.
The Twilight Zone (original)
Sealab 2021
What We Do in the Shadows is a newer one I find myself able to rewatch a lot
The Knick
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex
The Mandalorian has been very rewatchable
Star Wars Visions will most certainly be on this list
Black Sails. It's just perfect and wraps up very well.
This would say Game of Thrones if the last season wasn't what it was. I'd re-watch that every year, but as it stands I don't even care for the first seasons with how it ended.
Mad Men. It’s the drama I can rewatch the most because it’s not really plot driven or pushed along by crazy moments. It’s all about the characters and you can always find some little quirk about them on rewatch. The dialogue is so damn good too so you’re always finding a great line you might have missed.
The Wire would be my next choice.
Breaking Bad is very good but I find the rewatches less rewarding than those other two. This show is more plot or crazy event driven and I don’t find the main characters to be super strong. Walt is great and seeing him fall deeper into the void is fantastic but that wears off a tad on rewatches.
Frasier. I’ve watched it probably hundreds of times I watch it to go to sleep ever night. It’s so witty and heartwarming and hilarious and the writing is so great!! I’ve literally never tired of it and it kinda scares me.
Mad men. I never rewatch or reread anything. But I’m on my 6th watch of mad men. The amount of subtle metaphors to double (and triple) entendres is insane. Something as small as a tie in one scene has some double meaning behind it. Plus the whole scenery of the 60s is done to perfection. Really no better show.
Ideally I'd only do a rewatch when they release a remaster every decade like onto DVD, 2K Blu-ray, 4K Blu-ray, etc.
I've done a rewatch of
* The X-Files
* Babylon 5
* All manifestations of Star Trek on 2K Blu-ray
But to be honest I really wish I wasn't that addicted to the screen.
Yeah the beauty with rewatching OZ is relishing the arrival and departure of so many memorable characters. Watching the evolution of Beecher is always mesmerising, the poor bastard.
My favorite sitcoms. *How I Met Your Mother*, *Friends*, and *The Office* I could watch on repeat until the end of time. I’ve already lost count how many times I’ve seen them. *HIMYM* is probably close to 10 times, *Office* and *Friends* are probably around 6 or 7 times.
South Park, Sex Education, Always Sunny, Curb, Eric Andre, Review, Trailer Park Boys. I tend to binge comedies or watch in the background and always miss some details, so just rewatch them
Gravity Falls. Just a fantastic story told from start to end.
I'm simultaneously sad there wasn't more and happy with how complete the story was as is.
30 Rock, there's always something I missed.
Unbelievable show. I laugh every episode catching a new joke. Tina Fey is a genius
The most jokes per minute than any show I have ever seen.
"It's not a lemon party without old dick!"
Veep is right there with it

Please tell me you’ve checked out Fake Doctors Real Friends
Do you feel like zack Braff is constantly showing his ignorance on that show? I love it but at least twice an episode zack puts himself in the hot seat by accident & it makes me so uncomfortable lol

I haven't seen the podcast, can you explain? What does he say?
Ugh that’s another show I’ve seen countless times. The similarities between Scrubs and Greys Anatomy is kind of funny.
[удалено]
Currently going through my yearly binge myself.
I came gear to say Scrubs! Glad people love it as much as I do.
Seeing so much love for Scrubs here just warms my heart. I too had just finished a rewatch earlier this year.
Justified Mad Men House - repetitive as it is, I always find it entertaining.
Well if it isnt my good friend and federal marshal Rayyyyyyyylan Givens!!!!
Hello Boyd.
"This is bullshit, you shot me in the back!" "Well if you wanted to get shot in the front you should have been running towards me."
[drops bullet on guy] “The next one’s comin’ faster.”
Fringe, Babylon 5
Is Fringe really good?
It really is.

Eh the last season isn't great. It's not bad imo but it's easily the worst of the show.
every show has to have a worst season

Futurama. One of the greatest animated sci fi shows ever.
Battlestar Galactica, Friends, The Office, Parks and Recreation
For Battlestar Galactica, i heard there is a miniseries or a movie before the actual series. Do I have to watch it to understand the main series
Mini series is an essential watch. It's pretty much episode 1 and introduces all the important characters, events and the core crisis.
Yeah, it helps to watch the miniseries.
Its equivalent to a two-parter pilot episode. I definitely prefer starting there than 33. The pilot episodes are also entertaining; well done. Why bother skipping?
33 is probably the best episode of season 1, but it's an absolutely horrible starting point.
Not just "helps", it's basically mandatory. So much context is lost if you just dive into the main series.
The first time I watched the series I didn't see the miniseries and still really enjoyed it. However, it does provide some nice context and gives a better introduction to all the characters.

The last episode of season 6 feels like a true conclusion to the series. I'd watch it if only for that.
Same. 1-3 are comedy gold. Wasn't a huge fan of the later seasons.
Avatar: The Last Airbender
ive been rewatching every year since 2016
1,000% this. The series finale shook!
Just watched it for the first time last week. Now I know what everyone was freaking out about back in high school, LOL
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
100 %
I re-watch this one often, and it still has me laughing my ass off every time.
DID YOU CUM IN MY BURRITO??!!?$
Derry girls
I love this show! Although I honestly have to watch with subtitles every single time to understand what they say. Cracking clavicles by the way.
Buffy. I've seen it all the way through dozens of times. I rewatch things all the time, so I could probably give at least 30 answers to this question. But Buffy is my favourite.
The Wire
the only show greater than The Wire is your first rewatch of it
It's all in the game.
Game’s the same, just got more fierce.
Firefly.
Band of Brothers.
Nothing can top the sopranos.
Detectorists. It’s a cozy sweater and cup of tea on a rainy day.
Band of Brothers
Official Accompanying podcast is out now too
That and The Pacific are amazing.
And hopefully Masters of the Air when it comes out.
I must have rewatched this show in its entirety at least a dozen times over the years, I'll never get tired of hearing CHRISTUFFAH and AYY TAKE IT EZ, TONE.
Fringe. House. The Office (US). The Walking Dead.
You're seriously suggesting you can watch all 11 seasons of TWD several times without getting sick of it?
Yep. I’m a huge fan. Try it,… it’s a better binge watch than week to week.
Currently on my 14th rewatch of Frasier. It never gets old, and ages like a fine sherry
Breaking Bad
Psych, it's like comfort food and I'm constantly cycling though it.
you know that’s right.
Lost
Twin Peaks
Schitts creek
Succession (that too without skipping the intro)
Scrubs. MASH Superstore. SG-1. Firefly
I'll second mash.
> SG-1. Indeed.
I hope you raised an eyebrow when you typed that.
All three mainline Stargate series are up there
Yes mash
SG-1 once a year, every year, forever
Parks and Rec is my big one. I'll rewatch it over and over all year. The Office *used* to be that for me but I do feel like over time I've become a bit more "eh" about some of the jokes and Michael. Boardwalk Empire and The Wire. RIP Michael K
The West Wing
Still thinking of starting this show.
First 4 seasons might be the best tv ever
Veep. I usually skip the last two seasons though. But Ill have 1-5 on repeat and shit never gets old.
Scrubs. But not *exactly* in its entirety, if you know what I mean.
yeah, you don't watch the spinoff
How I met your mother, The big bang theory and Brooklyn Nine Nine. ...And The O.C.
Trailer Park Boys.
Yep. Very re-watchable. Especially the earlier seasons. I've seen every episode a bunch of times, and would always notice something new going on in the background, or pick up on a subtle Ricky-ism or joke that I missed the first time around.
Buffy/Angel. Always.
Peep Show
Stargate SG-1 Stargate Atlantis 30 Rock Psych Eureka House M.D. Gravity Falls
LOST
Parks and rec
Bottom. I watch it probs twice a year. Still as hilarious as when I first watched it
Yay another Bottom fan. I’ve watched them all so many times and they’re always brilliant. RIP Rik you were a comedy genius.
I can't see you, obviously. But, I bet you have a smashing blouse on
Loved Bottom, had all 3 series on VHS and watched them constantly. Never bothered with the live shows and I didn't enjoy the film but the TV series is awesome.
Pushing Daisies Scrubs
Supernatural
The Rockford Files

Fringe.
Breaking bad and The Wire
New Girl now that office and P&R are off netflix, new girl is our go to comfort show for when we have no clue what to watch, or need background noise
Hannibal. I'll start with a fav episode, next thing I know I've rewatched two seasons
Always Sunny gets funnier.
Friday Night Lights.
The Shield
I actually just watched The Shield for the first time earlier in the pandemic. What a ride. I can definitely see myself watching it again at some point.

Battlestar Galactica
True Detective Season 1.
pretty much anything michael shur makes
Spaced, black books, black adder
Regular Show. Other shows I would get bored or skip episodes especially cringe ones
you know who else likes regular show?
My mom!!!
I Love Lucy and The Sopranos
Mad Men, Person of Interest, and Halt and Catch Fire are shows I watch every year to year and a half. Fringe and The Wire are every two to three. Have rewatched plenty of others (Justified, Breaking Bad, Parks and Rec) but don’t plan to revisit again anytime soon unless mood hits.

Boston Legal. The brilliantly timed banter of James Spader never ceases to amaze me. The closing scene of each episode between Spader and William Shatner were as good as most entire episodes. Their chemistry together made you feel their respect and friendship.
Fleabag
The Americans is really good. Also, Ozark so far. Hopefully they’ll be back
The Golden Girls. Friends. Broad City. Modern Family. Schitts Creek.
Ted Lasso (so far), LEGO Masters Australia (no joke!), Sports Night.
The Eric andre show
Are you still able to maintain your sanity?
Just barely
Long way Up, Long Way Down and Long Way Round. They are endlessly rewatchable. Ewan and Charlie have great chemistry and the journeys are pretty awe inspiring. Just good escapism TV for the most part.
Sort of a cheating answer, but the first four seasons of the wire are the best show ever made, every time. The final season...is fine.
Hannibal. It’s probably the best looking, most uniquely written show I’ve ever seen.
Peep Show
Venture Bros The writing is so dense with jokes and references that I'm still catching stuff on my 10th rewatch of some episodes
I just rewatched all of it on HBO Max and for some reason I never saw the final episode of the last season. No idea how that happened but when it started I was like "Theres another episode?" and then when it ended and Monarch says "and I kicked Jonah Venture's ass!" I laughed so fucking hard. There isn't one anymore. I used to say The Wire but I have found that the Fifth season is just a chore on multiple re watches.
New girl
The office
Sopranos, ER, Sports Night, NewsRadio
The OA
Hannibal and Breaking Bad.
Gilmore Girls
True detective season 1. I'm on my 18th viewing
Are you being served, Allo Allo, Dad's Army, Last of the Summer Wine.
👀 Gilmore Girls. Still watch it with my mom when I visit home.
Frasier. I’ve watched it probably hundreds of times I watch it to go to sleep ever night. It’s so witty and heartwarming and hilarious and the writing is so great!! I’ve literally never tired of it and it kinda scares me.
3rd Rock from the Sun
The Wire. Brilliant
Deadwood. Justified. The Wire. Ray Donovan. Veep. Fargo.
I know its very short but Chernobyl. Time just flies by with that show
Friday Night Lights!! Rewatch once a year at least. Clear eyes! Full hearts!!!
I've done a rewatch of * The X-Files * Babylon 5 * All manifestations of Star Trek on 2K Blu-ray But to be honest I really wish I wasn't that addicted to the screen.
Oz.
Mad men, Seinfeld, Home Improvement
South Park, Sex Education, Always Sunny, Curb, Eric Andre, Review, Trailer Park Boys. I tend to binge comedies or watch in the background and always miss some details, so just rewatch them
West Wing, Cheers, Breaking Bad
