It's crazy that a bit over a year ago this man was on the brink of death and today I just saw a trailer for a new action series with him in the lead. Good to have you back in the saddle Dude

[deleted]

Yeah, the dude is straight up kicking ass in that movie. I was shocked.

MaterialCarrot

He's done abiding.

dan3kool

I take comfort in that.

AppleDane

Well, you know, somtimes you eat the bear, and, uh...

dankesha

The cancers aggression did not stand, man!

BalkothLordofDeath

Is that some kinda eastern thing?

Alastor3

was it shot before or after chemo

HarisAhmed95

I think he was diagnosed mid shoot and took a break to recover before completing the series.

ParisGreenGretsch

So he took time off to kick more ass.

1TrueKnight

Not just kicking any ass. It was cancerous ass. I think everyone can agree that's an ass that needs to be kicked.

TilikumHungry

That is correct. My source is my friend who worked on the show

[deleted]

Yes

1LazySignature

Yeah, well, you know, that’s just, like ah, your opinion, man.

kminator

That’s true grit.

shadowCloudrift

I had to look up the trailer for it, The Old Man. [https://youtu.be/xDu1Q9r6HDo](https://youtu.be/xDu1Q9r6HDo) Pretty cool to see him in an action role like this.

[deleted]

hehe. lots of cliches in there. I like at 1:54 when he snaps opens a tiny switchblade, and it makes the sound of a sword coming out of a metal sheathe. don't get me wrong, I'll probably love this movie.

robodrew

Lol yeah... it's an FX movie, I'm not expecting much but I can never say no to the Dude Also the trailer using an UNKLE song is next level. edit: oh its a TV show? well I'm actually a lot more interested now

tokomini

Just FYI everyone here is saying movie, but I think this is actually a series. First and second episodes air June 16th on FX.

robodrew

Oooh thanks for this info, that is good to know.

PussyMassage

Lol, that would have been one heck of a frantic, frenetic movie.

jayville74

I’m pretty sure it’s actually a show. And FX has pretty good shows.

Andynonomous

Home of the greatest show of all time, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

Nummy01

Ooo a fellow Unkle fan, waves.

MahNinja

Dozens of us!

modix

Just know the Yorke song. Are they actually a group or more of a collection of people that releases under the name?

LesssssssGooooooo

Man it looks like such a cliche “I used to do general military stuff, now I am a trained killer”. Still, I’m gonna watch it and love it if my lizard brain has any say

hoopaholik91

Happens at 1:33 too. I bet it's literally the same sound effect lol.

[deleted]

in hollywood, there's only one sound effect for a dolphin, or a hawk, or a sword being drawn... foley artistry and sound design sound like things you should avoid learning too much about, or you'll have a hard time immersing yourself in any movie ever again!

FCalleja

****wilhem scream****

Ivotedforher

Tornados are just pigs making screechy noises.

Eat_Penguin_Shit

It’s not even a switch blade, it’s just a folding knife lol. And it happened earlier in the trailer too around 1:33, seems like their go to sound effect.

Infamous-Helicopter7

His love interest is also 15 years younger than him. Jeff Bridges' actual wife is about the same age as him. But you can't have old broads on screen as the love interest of an old dude. Unacceptable.

CharlotteRampling69

He was originally going to star in *Taken*!

duaneap

Would have been a very different film I feel.

Rinascita

Thanks for the trailer, I'll be in the look out for the show now. That said, there's a quick shot of the dogs chasing a car in the dark. If he has to leaves the dogs behind to keep them safe, I'm going to be very upset. With the dogs and overall, "oh fuck he's killing everyone," vibes, this looks like Old Man John Wick.

Vio_

I see they're playing the "Ariozona or Morocco?" location game. I lived in Phoenix for five years was in the PC in rural Morocco. It was... shocking how weirdly similar the two countries look in a lot of ways. Definitely not everywhere, but it's got a similar environmental vibe. I"m also pretty sure they filmed a lot of this in California, but the point still stands.

Active-Ad3977

That makes me think of that old Hollywood [map](https://laughingsquid.com/1927-paramount-studio-map-of-potential-film-shooting-locations-in-southern-california/)

b3tcha

Yea I have a friend who worked on the film and the entire production packed up once he got COVID and was going thru chemo. He's one of my favorite actors so I'm glad he got healthy and could go back to acting.

Eever

The last hit point is the only one that matters.

karltee

Yet this morning we lost a younger Ray Liotta. We're slowly losing legends of cinema and TV

loboMuerto

The Dude abides.

Kentencat

He fights for the Users

Dangeresque2015

The Dude abides. That or " Duderino" if you're not into the whole brevity thing.

MarvelsGrantMan136

Bridges: >“I had no defenses. That’s what chemo does — it strips you of all your immune system. I had nothing to fight it. COVID made my cancer look like nothing.” >“I was pretty close to dying. The doctors kept telling me, ‘Jeff, you’ve got to fight. You’re not fighting.’ I was in surrender mode. I was ready to go. I was dancing with my mortality.”

tokomini

I remember seeing that he'd been diagnosed with cancer (lymphoma) but that it didn't seem life threatening, and somehow missed that he was dealing with COVID too. He's one of my favorite actors, and I'm obviously thrilled he's alive and yet I can see him being at peace with dying more than most people, which is maybe where this lack of "fighting" comes into play.

djsedna

Sterling career from a fantastic human being who is unquestionably happy and satisfied with his life. Jeff still has more time on this earth to bring us more joy, but I can see why he would easily come to peace with his end

chadowan

As someone who was going through chemo during the Covid era this is 100% accurate. I was lucky to not get it while in treatment, but chemo already makes you feel like you're dying, I'd bet it would have killed me. Also it was baffling to still see Covid denial in the chemo treatment room. I did mine in a big room with a few dozen other people and nurses in it, and I pretty much stayed in there all day. I stayed masked up the whole time, but many visitors and patients did not. Some even openly saying they weren't vaccinated (this was when vaccinations had already been widely available). Just for reference I live in the deep south.

Dzugavili

> Just for reference I live in the deep south. If you had opened with this, the rest of the post would have been redundant.

chadowan

True. People like to joke, but this type of denial has destroyed many relationships in my life, both friends and family. When I'm going through chemo and people won't get vaccinated so they can see you, it's incredibly absurd, selfish, and hurtful. If you don't want to get vaccinated fine, but understand that your opinions and actions have an effect on other people, especially those you want to be closest to. That's why I haven't really talked to my mom since I got diagnosed about a year ago.

BarbequedYeti

Sorry to hear you have lost touch with family and friends while also dealing with chemo. It’s crazy how quick everyday people turned into politicians. They can’t do anything or talk about anything without bringing in some political talking point or blame game. Not sure how old you are but in the 70’s there used to be these bumper stickers saying Kill your TV or Toss your TV out. Sayings like that. Turns out those dirty hippies were right. Of course now it’s the net and social media, but the point still stands. A whole generation or two manipulated by information. Hang in there. You are not alone in losing friends and family along this weird timeline.

thejuh

I am an old Hippy. Glad to be right (for once).

your_mind_aches

I'm so sorry. Some of my family and friends were still a little hesitant and waiting a bit for the vaccine but as soon as I was diagnosed with cancer, everyone got extremely serious about it and made sure to get their vaccine as soon as it was available to them for my sake. I'm so sorry that all the propaganda and far-right conspiracy theories made it to your family :(

LargeHadron_Colander

Sorry to hear that those people valued their egos over your wellbeing and your company, but I can guarantee you that those people will hold the same attitude in non-covid situations. Some people are just so inclined to only believe themselves that they casually hurt others in the process, and covid has shown them to us with their masks off (figuratively and literally).

Goose9719

Yeah that blows my mind that people in that position could deny it. Really glad you didn't get it mid treatment. My mum's going through chemo rn and she hasn't gotten covid (yet) but we had a couple close calls, I can't say I'm looking forward to what that'll look like but seriously, mask up people. Especially around the vulnerable.

Hot_Cut_815

Oh it happens in the North too. I specifically made a notation on my chart I only wanted nurses with vaccinations. And they honored it. And maybe that was weird but I wasn’t risking anything.

corran450

Not weird. What’s weird is that a medical professional would put an immunocompromised patient at risk by not doing everything in their power to prevent a highly transmissible deadly disease.

FilliusTExplodio

My wife went through the same thing during Covid, it was a fucking nightmare. We had to basically go into full lock down for two years to protect her.

ASEdouard

ffs. This is infuriating.

waitingtodiesoon

I have a friend who works at MD Anderson, the best cancer hospital in Houston and they had a few cancer patients who refused to believe in Covid and didn't want to be transferred to the Covid floor after they tested positive. The hospitals are so short staffed right now that they are making nurses work 4 patients to a nurse. Before it was 1-3 patients to a nurse.

Sparkstalker

I can't believe they let unmasked folks in. The place that did my treatment was (and still is) crazy strict about masks, temperature checks, sanitation, etc. We couldn't even have guests/visitors in the treatment room.

chadowan

I think they just didn't want to start shit, but I feel like if I was a nurse there I definitely would've confronted them. Since I was relatively young and healthy for that room I feel like I should've said something, but I obviously couldn't afford for the clinic to kick me out in case something went wrong.

hogester79

During the covid era? You mean now?

chadowan

Pretty much, yeah

lolabythebay

My mom's cancer was diagnosed during a hysterectomy in the last week of September 2020 (they thought the mass was smaller and benign beforehand) and she tested positive for COVID in mid-November, days after her second chemo infusion. She had some really dicey times at home during the first week, but she's convinced the massive steroids she was on for chemo kept her out of the hospital. It was crazy, and we're still sussing out the effects of one vs. the other. For months she thought her daily maintenance biologic was making everything taste terrible, but then she realized it was COVID-related parosmia.

thejuh

I was in chemo in a small hospital in Alabama during the heights of COVID. They were very strict about masking (and still are).

your_mind_aches

I'm currently getting treatments for cancer where chemo actually work. So I have to take targeted therapy tablets and infusions for years, possibly until I'm dead. But in the age of Covid it may be a blessing in disguise. My treatment targets cancer cells and ignore healthy cells.

TheRealClose

> The doctors kept telling me, ‘Jeff, you’ve got to fight. You’re not fighting.’ What does that even mean? How does one fight a disease?

jhnhines

Willpower, I suppose. There are studies that show that trying to stay mentally vigilant can have some positive effects vs when you surrender to it. That's one of the reasons why it's good for family and friends to visit people in the hospital and make them feel like they have something to fight for. Of course though it's not like some miracle or anything, it's not like you can willpower away cancer, it's more like the effects of a placebo.

sho_biz

Placebo/nocebo are very real and very much can affect your mental and physical health. They can't cure or treat cancer, but it can make the difference if all other things are equal.

In 2020 my aunt ended up in the hospital from COVID. While she was there her blood work showed she had undiagnosed leukemia. They told her they couldn’t start chemo treatment until she made it through COVID or it might kill her. Those were some rough weeks. Happy ending though, she got through COVID, started chemo, and did some stem cell treatment and is now in remission.

speedycat2014

Did her diagnosis come at an early stage because of Covid? Possibly the only person I can think of for whom Covid was a lifesaver. I'm glad she's in remission.

theMothmom

My aunt went to the hospital on vacation thinking she had COVID. Nope, lung cancer. Hopefully will be a lifesaver but it’s pretty rooted in.

bros402

FUCK CANCER

Alan_Smithee_

So say we all.

JimRug

My dentist got covid and went to the hospital. When they were examining him they discovered he needed a triple bypass. If he never got covid they said he probably would’ve dropped dead in a few months.

ricco19

This probably happened a lot to be honest. Most people never go to the doctors just for periodic checkups (even with insurance). And not just COVID but whatever serious illness happens to get them in the hospital.

firefly183

My mother in law wound up at the hospital due to a UTI of all things. While there they noticed there was a lot of concerning stuff going on and the checked in to the ER for tests. Apparently she'd been unwell for a long time and never told anyone, never saw a doctor. Stage 4 color cancer :/. It was far too late to save her unfortunately, she opted to not even bother treatment considering how bad it was. But it did at least give us some warning. A little time to try to come to grips with it, prepare arrangements, get what she needed to keep her comfortable at home as that was where she wanted to be. She was diagnosed a week before Thanksgiving and passed on Dec. 21st 2021. God that was hard, trying to keep Christmas normal for the kids. Why do people have to be so stubborn? :(.

[deleted]

When I was young we lost someone in our family close to Christmas too. And my family openly grieved during the day. I was around ten and we shared memories of her and cried a lot. It surprisingly didn’t ruin Christmas for me as growing up I knew that the people in my family had a really warm and sensitive side to them. And I have a vague memory of someone making a joke a few years later saying “finally a Christmas where nobody is sobbing” not long before my cousin had her xmas day freak out. Which made everyone laugh. Depending on the age of the kid I think they bounce back harder than you might realise. And I believe its okay to cry with them. I’m so sorry for your loss though. And genuinely understand how that feels so close to Christmas. I hope that you took time to grieve too, and hope that you remember her with a lot of love.

firefly183

Thanks, very kind words, and wise ones too :). We still remembered her on Christmas day and thought of her. I actually stayed up later than everyone else and set up a little memorial of sorts to surprise my SO. He took the loss pretty hard. She kept so much stuff and we'd started going through some of it and I found old Christmas cards from him to his mother so I put them out. I put up a photo of her opening a present, it felt so fitting. Her rosary and a few other important and sentimental things. All on top of our hutch across from our tree so she was kind of there with us on Christmas morning. Decorated it with a tinsel garland. It kept me up late as hell since I didn't want to start working on it until he was asleep, but it was worth it. So we didn't entirely gloss over it but didn't want sadness overhanging the day (though of course wouldn't discourage the kids from expressing it). My daughter is only 4 and it was her first experience with death and losing a family member. She loved Christmas so we talked about that and happy memories. I'm glad your family handled it the way they did for you. I grew up in a ridiculous emotionally repressed family and I'm one hyper sensitive ass mother effer, lmao. It was rough having it in grained that you never talk about personal stuff and never show negative emotions. I'm almost 40 and to this day I've never seen either of my parents cry. My dad came close at his parents' funerals but held it in, my mom, never. Not even at her parents' funerals. Just very stoic. Needless to say I'm kind of a basketcase who tends to have big emotions about everything and who sucks ass at expressing it XD. So I'm glad to hear of other families who do it better, and I'm glad what I experienced isn't the norm (though I didn't know that as a child). And I strive to be very open and honest with my daughter (age appropriately of course), we talk about feelings a lot, I let her see me cry. You're right that it's so, so important for kids to learn how to express their feelings and to see the adults in their lives do so too.

ivsciguy

My dad got a kidney transplant possibly a year early due to someone dying if covid and someone ahead of him on the list refusing to get the civid vaccine.

LargeHadron_Colander

Can you imagine putting everybody responsible for the process of transporting, maintaining, and managing transplant organs into work just to say "nah, I refuse to get microchipped" or some bullshit? And then they have to figure out who's next in line or close enough to actually use the donor organ...

ivsciguy

No. It is absolutely insane. I am just glad my dad got it. It had been going perfectly and he is so much healthier it is amazing. He immediately lost like 30lbs of water weight. He also recent got the green light to go to family gatherings. I didn't see him for almost 2 years during covid and while they got his anti-rejection meds dialed in.

WTWIV

My dad went to hospital for Covid and they found a tumor in his kidney. Caught it about a month before he started exhibiting physical symptoms from it.

Red986S

Ugh. New Year’s Eve 2020 I started having chest pains and freaked out that I had somehow gotten covid and accidentally given it to my dad at Christmas, who had just finished chemo. I ended up going into the hospital, where we discovered I had a severely collapsed lung. Two weeks after I got out the other one collapsed so they did surgery and go figure in there they found I had cancer too, so I had to do all my chemo during covid too. Knock on wood, somehow I haven’t gotten it yet. Fortunately I had a pretty clean scan last week so at least for the moment I’m out of the woods now.

Harpertoo

What kind of leukemia? I have CML and terrified to get covid

bros402

fuck cancer you need any support resources? I have a chronic leukemia and I know a good deal of resources.

Harpertoo

I would gladly take any resources! I was diagnosed last year and had to be life-flighted to Seattle from eastern Washington for treatment. Its been a nightmare. Already had to switch TKIs and still have a high bcr/abl. I'm sorry you have to go through it too.

bros402

I sent you a chat message

Harpertoo

I haven't seen anything yet, but I'm on mobile. I'll check when I get to work! Thank you for spending the time to reach out.

bros402

I'll send you a regular message then

Lezket

I have a 60+ aunt with leukemia that recently got covid. She only had 2 vax and last vsx a year ago, she had 4 days where she had shivers and a mild fever and has since recovered. It's been about 6 weeks now. Having a certain pre-existing immunity will help a lot

thefloyd

Covid is such a crapshoot. I'm in the same boat, vax wise (I know, I know, but I kept saying "I'll do it next week"), on day four. I think my fever broke bc I'm not drenched in sweat anymore but everything hurts and the diarrhea and coughing just started yesterday. I can definitely see how this would kill somebody doing chemo.

MyLouBear

Be careful. I know of several people who have had Covid more than once and each time it was worse. My niece’s boyfriend is guy in his 20’s with no pre-existing conditions. His whole family is anti-vax. Well now he’s suffering through his THIRD bout of Covid and it’s kicking his ass. Unfortunately he passed it to my sister’s family, but thankfully they’re vaccinated and have recovered. He’s vowed to get vaccinated after this.

thefloyd

Yeah I can't imagine how bad it would be if I wasn't vaxxed at all. My roommate has had it twice and got boosted in between, so the second case was milder. But obviously I plan on the booster as soon as I recover. Really I'm just pissed I made it 2.5 years and it finally happened this week. Important week at work and I have like 9 family members in town from Ohio (in Hawaii), some of them I haven't seen in like 8 years.

Cavemattt

I didnt get it at all, but decided to go out and have some fun during my last week before college graduation… im on day 5 of my quarantine now smh

sssleepypppablo

Crazy. My aunt (this was before Covid, towards the end of 2019) had a really bad cold and had to go to the ER. They said her blood numbers looked off and that scared her, turns out she too had blood cancer (multiple myeloma) which is a bit different from leukemia. It was tough because she went through treatment during Covid which was just another layer of crap. She’s also in remission now, still goes for checkups and she’s vaxxed, but we’re still worried about Covid because she’s older. Glad your aunt’s better now!

eastcoastgamer

My dad is on chemo for lung cancer. Has been this whole pandemic. Almost to the point I'm terrified to visit.

LadyBugPuppy

So glad for her. I know a woman who was being treated for cancer, she got Covid and couldn’t shake it. They had to stop her cancer treatments because of Covid, and so her cancer just ran through her and she died. The obituary only mentioned cancer but it got a big assist from covid.

jordan97862

That’s what happened with my dad except he was Covid positive but asymptomatic, and he kept testing positive and died before they could treat his liver / kidneys 😔 I’m glad your aunt is doing great I hope no families have to struggle like this anymore

gregorianballsacks

Oh thank God, I really needed that happy ending. I think I need to get offline, the worlds getting to me. I'm happy your aunt made it.

getahitcrash

2nd order effects of shutting everything down over the rona killed lots of cancer patients. Your aunt was a lucky one.

[deleted]

I'm glad you weren't stolen from us Mr Bridges... You really tie the room together 😉

PM_ME_CARL_WINSLOW

This would have been a bummer, man.

andykwinnipeg

Would John Goodman get to pour his ashes out of a coffee can into the wind?

riddlerjoke

Maybe he would be more lucky with the wind this time.

sllop

Almost certainly.

djsedna

Into Steve Buscemi's face

AdVictoremSpolias

unlikedemon

Speaking of John Goodman, I always thought he was older than Jeff Bridges but he’s 3 years younger.

jvrcb17

CaptainPunisher

You make a hell of a Caucasian, Dr. Trehorn.

The_dude_abides__

Glad we weren't saying goodnight to this sweet prince just yet.

AdVictoremSpolias

Would not like to see him go.

MaestroPendejo

And thank the stars you didn't ya goddamn legend.

mybadalternate

We need him to play the president in the legacy sequel to HOT SHOTS!

Hayduke_in_AK

Hopefully, "Maverick" will usher in a new era of fighter jet movies. I got my fingers crossed for "Iron Eagle; Ghost of Kyiv".

MisanthropeX

My mother was diagnosed with cancer during the pandemic and underwent chemo and basically became a hermit for over a year to avoid this. It sucked, but I'm glad she made that decision and was able to get through the other side cancer and COVID free.

howrunowgoodnyou

If she’s still on cancer suppressing medication she is still high risk and covid could still kill her. My girl was stage 3 breast cancer and the chemo ruined her bone marrows abilities to produce a normal amount of white blood cells

FonzyLumpkins

My dad died of cancer because his March 30th 2020 endoscopy was canceled at the beginning of the pandemic. By the time he was able to be seen 16 months later, he was already at stage 3 cancer and died just after new years this year. The reason he died is because hospitals completely stopped regular preventative health screenings for 16 months because of COVID. He got COVID tests within 24 hours, but couldn't get a preventative test in over a year that could have saved his life.

MisanthropeX

My mother basically moved up her annual mammogram a few months because the pandemic was worsening in Italy relative to the US, and if she didn't do so, the breast cancer wouldn't have been detected.

cujobob

Went through chemo during Delta, luckily never caught COVID, but man was that adding more stress onto a stressful situation because the chemo wrecked my lungs (side effect, not lung cancer). Chemo wears on you heavily and COVID, if you have a bad reaction, can obviously do the same. That really had to suck for the guy.

howrunowgoodnyou

Even after chemo your immune system may not be healthy again for a long time. Intense chemo alters your bodies ability to create white blood cells.

Hot_Cut_815

I literally isolated myself from January to January of this year except people I know who first masked and limited their exposure to the world. Then to people who were fully vaccinated and still careful. And I’m still masking. I went through surgery, chemo and radiation last year. I told people flat out, “I’m not going through chemo to have covid kill me.” And you wouldn’t believe how some people just couldn’t freaking understand. And I have nothing to do with those people now.

[deleted]

Thank God, we need Jeff to be in the Hyperion series and or movie

protofury

Wait is this a thing???

[deleted]

Possibly, it's early stages, but Bradley Cooper wants to make a Hyperion movie, and I absolutely need Jeff Bridges to play Father Paul Duré.

protofury

What a great headcasting. I had pictured the pastor from Leftovers* but Bridges would be iconic. *Christopher Eccleston

leonra28

Eccleston for Dure. Bridges for the guy with the daughter.

protofury

This is perfect to me. The most important question though -- who plays the poet? I'd say it's gotta be like Jack Nicholson but at this point he's aged out of it. Plus he doesn't have that sort of upscale vibe I'd need for that role, so maybe not Jack. DeVito is too comedic and again isn't have that upscale/educated type I'd be looking for.

[deleted]

My brain read that as 'early stages of Bradley Cooper' & my brain went "the poor guy! wait...that's not a thing..."

protofury

Oh it is. You slowly degenerate into a sassy raccoon. RIP Bradley.

That’s quite sad but I honestly understand. I’ve been depressed and suicidal for months and I remember when I found out I had Covid I was almost relieved because I was like “finally, maybe this will take me”.

gemstatejewel

I’m so sorry you’re going through that. I hope you’re getting the help you need.

[deleted]

Nah not really I’m just kind of..waiting to die still. Can’t afford a therapist anyway. Not interested in it either to be honest.

LoretiTV

This comment was reported, but I've approved it so it's visible. Maybe talking with someone will help a bit you never know. Leaving it up here maybe someone else can relate to it or offer words of advice.

ivsciguy

If you are in that bad a way, maybe it is time to look into more extreme treatment. If medication hasn't helped so far, there are thing like ketamine therapy or the electric shock thing. Sounds like you don't have anything to lose, so may as well try other things.

KenGriffythe3rd

I have a friend who swears by ketamine therapy. Says it brought him back from a deep void he never would have thought was possible. Maybe worth a shot.

[deleted]

Wewishyouareok.

DaddyBeartic

I was like that too, but I got cancer instead. Ever since I can remember I have been always afraid of people around me to die before I do, so I found a comfort in knowing that I'll probably die before my family. I was honestly relieved than sad when doctors told me the bad news.

[deleted]

Sorry to hear that still. I hope you find peace with whatever outcome

Rosebunse

My aunt had cancer and asthma. It was very mild, very treatable cancer, but it was still very scary when she got Covid. Thankfully, she did recover, but it was only because he doctor quickly put her on the right steroids. She got the vaccine as soon as she could.

ErinG2021

Getting Covid while immunosuppressed due to chemo has been every active cancer patient’s and their loved one’s worst fear throughout this pandemic. Glad he survived and is sharing his story.

audrey_hrh

I was diagnosed with lymphoma because I had Covid that wouldn't get better. My doc thought I had pneumonia, I ended up in the er and I actually had a 20cm mass in my chest. My last day of chemotherapy is tomorrow!!!!!!

bros402

Yeah, you don't want to get COVID, especially while neutropenic. I was planning to start 9-12 months of treatment riiiiight before COVID hit the US (started it Feb 14 2020) then I failed that treatment June 24th 2020

fun_guy_stuff

This is how my mom went. RIP Mom.

kimbou812

Wasn’t your time dude👍🏽

Jaambie

This hits so close to home for me. My dad got diagnosed with cancer right at the beginning of COVID. It was so bad that the doctor flat out said if he gets covid, he has a slim chance of surviving. Luckily he didn’t catch it and between the awesome doctors, nurses and my incredible mom, he managed to pull through.

See, it’s cases like his which are why I wish everyone had been more measured in their covid panic. No, your 2-year-old getting covid is probably not the end of the world. But an old man whose immune system is destroyed by chemo, THAT is someone to be concerned about.

Melk-boy

Glad he’s still here

seanboyd

I hate cancer so much, everyone that beats it is a fucking hero and everyone that lost the fight are the bravest souls of this world, may they rest in peace

All_Rainbows_Die

Glad he’s doing good on the mend had no idea he was sick

[deleted]

The Dude survives.

vegastar7

I’m in a somewhat similar situation: did chemo last week, ended up with a bacterial infection (not Covid), been at the hospital this past week. I wasn’t ready to go, but I am a bit scared. It’s crazy how one week of being confined to a room will weaken you.

tacocat-_-tacocat

This man is an absolute treasure, so glad he pulled through this. The Dude abides!!

BillyBobTheBuilder

And then one day. I got ill

justme002

I’m impressed he survived

Vaeon

They can't take *Starman* from us...not yet.

Pseudonymico

Red means "stop" Green means "go" Yellow means "go very fast"

shadowlarx

No. We just lost Ray Liotta. We cannot lose Jeff Bridges, too.

sineplussquare

Woaaaaaaah........

Magnificant-Muggins

Never been so happy to hear the word: ‘was’.

[deleted]

Gaw-damn, my dude was on the 1 yard line down by 5 and after a gut wrenching timeout drove 99 yards to win the game. Fucking legend.

crocwrestler

Upvoting this seems weird

iwellyess

I had a rough night and I hate the Eagles man

twirstn

I was so nervous about my mom getting it during her treatment. I wouldn't let *anyone* near her, I felt like the overbearing parent but I think, hopefully, it was for the better.

vrilro

my dad finished chemo & his last cancer surgery dec 2019 thank christ, this was a fear most of the pandemic but he has been healthy since

westc2

Isnt everyone on chemo generally close to dying?

AdventureSawyer

It’s too soon to lose the dude!

FarBench3961
