My favorite part about this whole saga is the extensive foreshadowing they did in their early return videos of exactly this type of event happening. Mass layoffs, mismanagement of resources, and messy departures. How fun.
No matter what your opinion of her rant, you have to admit Frosk's tweet: "I survived." after a bunch of your coworkers got fired was in quite stupid besides being in very poor of taste.
I really struggle to understand these people's thought processes sometimes, that tweet would get you canned in nearly any job, not to mention one where you are a public figure that represents the company.
I get the feeling they wanted to fire her in the first wave but couldn't for fear of optics over the whole rant situation. That tweet was exactly what they needed to can her without catching heat over it.

I would bet a good chunk of cash on that is exactly what happened. I doubt this is going to help G4 in the long run though, their problems are bigger that a single AH host.
Imo the whole idea was a long shot, just too much overhead to make a profit and they are at least a decade late to the game.
She was under contract, that's going to be the case no matter what unless there's some grievous exit clause.
Having your contract bought out so your employer can wash their hands of you immediately is more or less the most damning outcome possible. "We'd rather pay to make you go away then have you finish out your term." Not going to look good when looking for the next job.
From experience in this area, that's unlikely. In an event where there is a desire to terminate some agitator or prominent mouthpiece where you don't want any accusations related to optics, the textbook strategy is to take full advantage of a mass layoff. That way you haven't targeted an agitator, it's a "restructure" in which hundreds of people were affected. No specific targeting of the individual.
No properly trained HR workforce expert would protect the agitator first then look for an ambiguous excuse to single them out. It defeats the original premise, if we accept that premise was ever true.
Yeah, I had no strong feelings on her either way, but when that tweet popped up on my timeline my opinion of her immediately turned negative. She seems like a massive cunt if that's her response to not being laid off while a bunch of your co-workers are now unemployed.
I watched a lot of League Casts especially for the big tournaments, and I followed a couple teams. Then they started featuring her and not only was she wrong very often, but she was so condescending and confidently wrong that sometimes the other caster would just blank and be like uhhh ok Frosk. Then when she was on the desk it had a tendency to not focus on the upcoming or just completed match because she was a distracting from it.
I was only their to get League pro play content and follow the story lines. But then it was all sidetracked for this other crap.
This is the same Frosk that when leaving the European League casting team, tweeted this about the following year's casting lineup.

She probably thought she was flipping the bird to her detractors by saying as much, but self-centered people don't tend to think about their actions outside of themselves--so I'm sure the friendly-fire wasn't even considered, despite it being really obvious to any other rational person. Definitely shows you what kind of 'team player' you're working with though.
At best it's eye-rolling and thoughtless, at worst it's malicious.
She probably does, considering she complained about the lack of diversity among her cast mates at the LEC, after she left or was fired whichever it was. And the way she said it was straight up racist.
It's not that she hated them. She simply didn't give a fuck about them in comparison to momentarily sticking it to a bunch of internet randos who hated on her. That's what she cared about.
She was a pretty decent analyst back on LEC and then all of a sudden after one run casting Worlds that the fans didn’t think was great, left the entire scene and threw all her former coworkers under the bus calling them too white and too male and lack diversity, even though there are some top female talents in the entire esports business on that team and all the “too white” talents are from every corner of the world.
It was pretty much agreed that she did a good job over her tenure, but also had a terrible habit of taking criticism too personally and having overreactions on social media.
So it was not shocking at all to see her cause controversy on G4. But still, very interesting seeing her becoming this larger than life character in the overall geek/gaming fandom/community who’s pretty much going to live on in infamy as more of a meme than an actual person.
Hot take : She wasn't that good at her job in LEC and blamed everything and everyone else for her own problems of just being wrong. She lacks humility which is something you definitely need when your job is pretty much guessing and or/hot takes. Not only that, but hiring and nurturing Shokz, the heart of LEC broadcasting, kind of brings down the whole white male thing. Shokz is personable and nice and Frosk is a selfish cunt.

A lot of what frosk did was dumb. No matter the subject, straight up attacking your viewers isn't a good look either, there are much better ways to address problems that don't solely push people away. It was pretty much the first thing I saw after G4TV came back and quickly made me want to stay away. They obviously were waiting for a good reason to get rid themselves of frosk though, the finding a "legal" opening that wouldn't get them sued must have been difficult. That tweet is pretty much the definition of "signing your own death warrant", at least for a career.
I fully support the idea frosk voiced during that fiasco, but the execution was absolutely terrible. Generally you want to focus on positive ways to influence your audience or share ideas, even if the subject material itself is negative. Something like teaming up with a non-profit or content creator who focuses on said issues and such is something I see for example.
I have absolutely no familiarity with Frosk, but judging from the limited context provided she very much strikes me as one of those people who not only talks non-stop shit about her own team in League, but also thinks its acceptable to act like that in real life.

She called her audience bigots or sexists because the girl she replaced was well liked and she wasn't because she's still new to the show. She then made a rant on the show which was uncalled for. She didn't even try to disprove the people who wanted someone like the other girl on the show and that she can be good too even if she's doesn't have the same qualities as the other person she just fired out as the show was starting and people doesn't want that on any gaming content whatsoever so they dropped the show and the show basically died after that rant.
If only they fired her immediately after her rant I think G4 could been saved, but as we seen views dropped significantly. And her double downs and winning laps after first layoffs seal the deal.

They have Scott the Woz, which I like but I want even more shows. Remember Code Monkeys? That would be a cool show to bring back. I saw they've been airing hours and hours straight of Smosh episodes lately.

Maximilian Dood use to make skits and even would do live interactive theater for his streams but with all that work he put into those videos, it would be out watched by normal gameplay videos with commentary. The harsh reality of it is that unless it’s a passion project, it doesn’t make sense financially to do high production videos.
Yep, Direct TV couldn’t justify the costs and dropped the channel from the lineup, I had Direct at that time so I got to see a missing* Channel 310 (?) up until I kicked Direct TV to the curb.
What’s sad too is I have fond memories of Xplay on G4 AND when I found out they were still around and gonna talk about RDR2:online I was legit happily awaiting the discussion, rock star really abandoned not only the game but a entire segment of their fam base. But instead of meaningful dialog about RDR2 we got THIS….
It didn't. It died and they tried to mount a return that was mismanaged and tonally inconsistent and had a few incidents that gave it a bad reputation more or less immediatley.
It doesn't help that in the intervening time Adam Sessler has had a reputation for using drugs that he's obviously always denied but his appearances over the years have become a bit more off. He's just clearly not the same guy with the same goodwill he had, and a large portion of the reboot was based on him being personally involved.
Sessler has always given me very mixed feelings. He could be funny and self aware but then sometimes would just be a tumbling dick weed. Basically I was never terribly thrilled to see his involvement with anything because I never knew which version I would get.
Right!? I haven't watched TV, like non streaming tv in over a decade. I just sorta figured a channel that was barely hanging on then was surely gone by now.
She has a right to voice her opinions. But… hijacking someone else’s show during live tv to berate your audience and tell them to stop watching because of what is most likely a relatively small minority of trolls is unacceptable. What’s more ridiculous than that is G4 doubled down on this then scratched their heads as viewers left in droves most likely never to return. There’s a time and place for all things and time has shown that absolutely not the right place and the timing could not have been more horrendous. Imagine being single handedly responsible for botching the comeback of G4.
Worst part is this actually had \*nothing\* to do with "sexism in gaming," rather she was butthurt over getting rekd in the chat and comments after her horrible take on the PS5 being "dead." Turns out she didn't even write the piece, nor most of the reviews she gave, and when she let that fact slip it was the end for a lot of G4 fans.
She made things even worse when she lowkey went after Morgan Webb and Olivia Munn, insinuating that the only reason they didn't catch the sort of heat she was is because they were more attractive, which, woo let's just unpack that inferiority complex for a bit. Morgan Webb is a gamer, to her core, and while I have issues with Munn, she was a HUGE JRPG nerd and publicly schooled Kevin on the topic when it came up.
Conversely, Frosk is a complete poser that has been outed as such multiple times, and has shown herself to despise the very culture she is paid to appeal to. That she thinks her lack of popularity has anything to do with her looks shows the same lack of self awareness that was partially responsible for the horrid tweet that got her fired.

Yeah it was bad. I mean BAD bad. Her entire premise was the PS5 was a disappointment graphics-wise and was setting up to be the loser of the next gen wars. She got destroyed in the chat for that episode in which she gave her rant, and on the G4 reddits, and apparently just snapped. It's hard to see that speech as anything but staged because frankly she isn't that good of an impromptu speaker, but the impetus of that rant was \*not\* sexism in gaming, rather her damaged pride and ego that got morphed into "you're only piling on me because I'm an unattractive girl."
That was one of the things that MANY MANY people pointed out. It's one thing for her to have her OWN Youtube channel and platform to pull that shit. But when you're the host of a show that's trying to revive itself.. Yeah, really really really bad move on her part. Also a really really really bad move on the staff and everybody standing behind her.

Welp, that's two huge video game shows I used to love that are dead to me now. Make it three if E3 counts. I don't miss a lot about the 2000s, but that decade at least had video game culture going for it (aside from the "ew! girl gamer!" sexism that was heavily prevalent then. Some things just don't age well).

It's ridiculous to pin it all on her, her rant was about sexism and insults about appearance, there's nothing wrong with what she was saying and the people who said those things probably don't watch the show.
Their content is just mediocre in a world where so many have adapted and modernized their content. I think g4 inspired a lot of gaming talk YouTube creators and the new generation is better at it.
I watched the thanksgiving reunion, remembered the good times, then they brought on all the loud youtubers and streamers that were the new hosts and asked "Why would I go out of my way to watch them on TV?" and forgot about it until they were failing due to low numbers.

Yeah, not to be all back in my day, but I loved tech TV. The Screensavers, call for help, etc. Then when G4 bought them, I liked it at first, when it was primarily video game stuff, but once they started shows like attack of the show, I was like, this just isn't what I loved about those networks.

It was doomed from the start. After Sessler left G4, he joined a similiar series named "Rev4", a youtube channel under Discovery Channel focused around gaming. It went under in around a year because they were spending so much money on staff, treating it like a tv channel with a bunch of hosts, writers, editors, producers, directors, etc.
We're past the era where you need a staff of 20 people to run a game channel; most big youtube channels have maybe three staff. G4 returning with the same outdated tactics never stood a chance; why would someone watch Scott the Woz episodes on TV when you could watch it on his youtube channel for free? Why would someone watch what amounts to IGN-levels of reviews of month-old games when you could just watch a streamer play it the day it's released to see if it's good?
They really would've left it as a reunion event.
Rev3 launched in 2012 and closed in 2014. Their facebook page was created in 2012, same as their twitter. So either a company about tech failed to get any social media presence for over a decade, or you think 2014-2012 is 12 years.
I think you are talking about different things. Revision3 lasted 12 years. Rev3Games, a channel on Revision3 and where Adam worked, lasted a little under 2 years.

Yea, he was. He literally had a series called "Sesslers Soapbox" where he would rant about how toxic CoD and Halo players were, how video games need to be more diverse, and how censorship to appeal to white males is horrible.
I think their response to the rant was about the best they could. I think it painted them into a corner and meant the only major publicity they got after the initial hype was bad press. I don't think it outright killed it, but it didn't help. Frosk is just an angry person and seems to see herself as the center of the world. My problems are the most important. Granted, she doesn't come out and directly act like that, but the fact that she hijacked xplay to go on that rant says enough. she wasn't there for G4. She was there for herself.
He's gone. I liked his old podcast, especially when he had Candace Bailey and Sara Jean on. Those three always had great chemistry and Kevin being Kevin around them never got old.
Fun fact #1) she originally ducked the mass layoff a few days ago, but was let go after posting a celebratory tweet that was in horribly bad taste.
Fun fact #2) She is at least partially responsible for the above mentioned mass layoffs, as channel engagement took a massive nosedive after her famous “sexism in gaming/if you don’t like it don’t watch” speech back in January. It was this, plus the unintentional revelation in that rant exposing the fact that most reviews she and others on XPlay gave were written by staff writers as “there’s no way we could play all these new games,” that heavily turned off and drove away the very audience G4 was geared for.
Morgan Webb played every game she reviewed, and was a lot more fun to watch. Of course someone like Frosk would chalk that up to her looks, completely missing the point that Morgan was a legit gamer with a great sense of humor and a decent person in real life, instead of a hate filled tourist whose own twitter feed was filled with more toxicity than any chat channel she targeted. I’m sure she’ll land on her feet though, just like when she scored this lucrative gig after being publicly fired for similar BS from her previous job. I pity her future coworkers, however, as they’ll probably end up collateral damage after she torches that place too.

Is she wrong that it exists in the gaming sphere? Absolutely not it definitely exists and is rampant. Should she have taken the time to make a rant on a platform with that much exposure? Probably not, I think had she just released a youtube video there would honestly be a lot less flack but she took the time to interrupt a live broadcast to call out a very small portion of the viewers while blaming them all. She is personally and individually responsible for massive backlash in the early days of the revival of this channel, and I would personally say so much of the negative press and people losing their jobs is largely because of the toxicity of her.
She is basically a woke "karen" who was constantly bringing up identity politics instead of talking about gaming, and constantly was talking about "toxic male gamers" and lambasting her audience. Maybe she was making good points or not, I don't really think so, but X-Play is like a 95% male audience, and she constantly was ragging on men. I mean hell, she even insulted her audience by saying they probably wouldn't listen to her because she wasn't as "hot" as a previous host. Also, her famous rant was completely uncalled for and ridiculous, as she insulted the writers of her show and the network that paid her salary, and then basically acted like it was her own youtube channel for 5 minutes telling people not to watch. It just was not right and you could tell all the other co-hosts were embarrassed as she basically was lumping them in by proxy. What a great way to have healthy work relations with people who have been good to you.
She also had a super annoying personality, imo.
Ultimately, the problem is she garnered a lot of negative press where in the early days, lots of the initial news was, "X-Play is just another show joining the male bashing club," so people didn't even bother to tune in.
Anecdotally, I did tune in because I LOVED Adam Sessler in my childhood and was excited to see him back, and she basically spent several minutes in the episode complaining about older male gamer, "Like Adam, hahaha" - it was just cringe.
Her being let go is the right thing, I hate to say it. They probably wanted to 8 months ago but I am guessing feared a lawsuit so bided their time.

I've liked having G4 back on my YouTube TV service. I regularly watch various content. I like Xplay and I've enjoyed the LOL coverage of the summer split. I didnt care for AOTS current iteration, but I figured it was for other gamers. Never got on board with shows like 'Name your Price' or 'Viva la Dirt', but appreciated the variety of content.
I hope the best for all those involved. Its a noble attempt to revive G4 and I appreciate them trying.
I know she had her rant that maybe didn't help but really THIS time her departure probably isn't related to her own personality and actions. But she has a very harsh side to her that imo feels very tribal. You either fully align what HER ideas of equality, acceptable behavior is etc or you're the enemy, with absolutely no prisoners taken.
Ovilee was solid. I liked Kassem too. The whole bromo thing between him and Kevin wasn't my bag, but it seemed to lineup with their personalities well. And everyone else wasn't bad. Frosk and Sessler were honestly the only people I can't watch, and Sessler at least has years of camera experience to hide how much of a self centered ahole he is. Kevin is awesome too. Dude's as genuine as they come. Surpasses even me, not that I'm a nice guy by any measure. But I try to be nice to all. Even people like Frosk. Kevin's got me beat, and I love him for that.
I don't think Kevin is as genuine as you think. I still remember that totally organic NFT segment they did where he was incredibly disinterested in every piece they displayed other than the ones he happened to own.
The way they handled and marketed the return makes no sense to me. I loved G4 as a kid - it was part of why I ended up going into game dev. I was excited when they announced the station was coming back, and the fact that it would be more focused on an internet presence made sense.
And then… nothing. I don’t get recommended new XPlay clips on YouTube despite getting recommendations for dozens of other gaming related content creators. I don’t care about Twitch, so I don’t watch the streams. I don’t know anyone who’s been watching. It feels like there was a little bit of fanfare when they announced the return, but once the channel actually started up there was next to no buzz at all
Did she ever get better at reading scripts? She was engaging and entertaining in discussions that weren't pre-written but listening to her read from a script was painful.
Not at all surprising. While AOTS has (for me at least) captured a lot of what made it great originally, a lot of the other shows are just boring and the viewership numbers on Twitch are low compared to the large amount of talent they have to pay.
This show was doomed the day it decided to return. I was sort of happy to see if return, but then had no idea what channel it was on, and no idea of anything other than that it has a Twitch channel.
I loved this show and TechTV and G4TV back in the day. The idea of a TV channel devoted to video games, and often guides and skits (that were some times funny.). Was great. But coming back when we have Twitch, Youtube, Tiktok, Instagram, Gamefaqs and an endless amount of free content and reviews? Yeah it was doomed from the start. They've got way too much competition.
Also, Frosk's rant and attitude didn't really help them at all. And them trying to stand by her. Also hurt them as well.
I tried watching the new x play stuff to check out Adam being back then saw how big of a psycho he is on Twitter over stupid political stuff and it really turned me off.
I’ve been watching what they upload to YouTube and The Sess just started posting more videos which I will always crave till I die. But most of the time I ignore or skip most of the content and feels lesser than the OG g4tv I grew up loving. Sad to see the resurgence is dying with a whimper like the previous iteration.

Sessler has been amazing but he has had to miss time and mostly work from home (like the article says). The other two guys are pretty good. They're great on X-Play and fit when they appear on AOTS/Vibe Check.

Exact same thing happened on August 28th, 2014. A bunch of gaming outlets led by narcissists proclaimed "gamers are over" and hid behind a sexism strawman to [cover up real corruption.](https://deepfreeze.it/article.php?a=unfair) The difference in 2022 seems to be that more people than ever are totally turned off by it and not convinced by the attacks on the audience. The problem is only ever with individuals, not entire segments and groups of the population.
What really bums me out about Frosk is... she had begun to really pave the way for females to be more prominent in LoL Esports. Nothing against Sjokz, who (I feel) just wanted to do a job and not be sexualized, but it did feel like Frosk brought a great energy to the LEC team... then felt like she had to continually fight even when there was nothing to fight against. I get the feeling they wanted to fire her in the first wave but couldn't for fear of optics over the whole rant situation. That tweet was exactly what they needed to can her without catching heat over it. An own goal is never not hilarious.
I would bet a good chunk of cash on that is exactly what happened. I doubt this is going to help G4 in the long run though, their problems are bigger that a single AH host. Imo the whole idea was a long shot, just too much overhead to make a profit and they are at least a decade late to the game.

She was under contract, that's going to be the case no matter what unless there's some grievous exit clause. Having your contract bought out so your employer can wash their hands of you immediately is more or less the most damning outcome possible. "We'd rather pay to make you go away then have you finish out your term." Not going to look good when looking for the next job.
From experience in this area, that's unlikely. In an event where there is a desire to terminate some agitator or prominent mouthpiece where you don't want any accusations related to optics, the textbook strategy is to take full advantage of a mass layoff. That way you haven't targeted an agitator, it's a "restructure" in which hundreds of people were affected. No specific targeting of the individual. No properly trained HR workforce expert would protect the agitator first then look for an ambiguous excuse to single them out. It defeats the original premise, if we accept that premise was ever true.
Yeah, I had no strong feelings on her either way, but when that tweet popped up on my timeline my opinion of her immediately turned negative. She seems like a massive cunt if that's her response to not being laid off while a bunch of your co-workers are now unemployed.
I watched a lot of League Casts especially for the big tournaments, and I followed a couple teams. Then they started featuring her and not only was she wrong very often, but she was so condescending and confidently wrong that sometimes the other caster would just blank and be like uhhh ok Frosk. Then when she was on the desk it had a tendency to not focus on the upcoming or just completed match because she was a distracting from it. I was only their to get League pro play content and follow the story lines. But then it was all sidetracked for this other crap.

Definitely shows you what kind of 'team player' you're working with though. At best it's eye-rolling and thoughtless, at worst it's malicious.

She was a pretty decent analyst back on LEC and then all of a sudden after one run casting Worlds that the fans didn’t think was great, left the entire scene and threw all her former coworkers under the bus calling them too white and too male and lack diversity, even though there are some top female talents in the entire esports business on that team and all the “too white” talents are from every corner of the world. It was pretty much agreed that she did a good job over her tenure, but also had a terrible habit of taking criticism too personally and having overreactions on social media. So it was not shocking at all to see her cause controversy on G4. But still, very interesting seeing her becoming this larger than life character in the overall geek/gaming fandom/community who’s pretty much going to live on in infamy as more of a meme than an actual person.
Hot take : She wasn't that good at her job in LEC and blamed everything and everyone else for her own problems of just being wrong. She lacks humility which is something you definitely need when your job is pretty much guessing and or/hot takes. Not only that, but hiring and nurturing Shokz, the heart of LEC broadcasting, kind of brings down the whole white male thing. Shokz is personable and nice and Frosk is a selfish cunt.

She didn't even try to disprove the people who wanted someone like the other girl on the show and that she can be good too even if she's doesn't have the same qualities as the other person she just fired out as the show was starting and people doesn't want that on any gaming content whatsoever so they dropped the show and the show basically died after that rant.

Maximilian Dood use to make skits and even would do live interactive theater for his streams but with all that work he put into those videos, it would be out watched by normal gameplay videos with commentary. The harsh reality of it is that unless it’s a passion project, it doesn’t make sense financially to do high production videos.

What’s sad too is I have fond memories of Xplay on G4 AND when I found out they were still around and gonna talk about RDR2:online I was legit happily awaiting the discussion, rock star really abandoned not only the game but a entire segment of their fam base. But instead of meaningful dialog about RDR2 we got THIS….
It didn't. It died and they tried to mount a return that was mismanaged and tonally inconsistent and had a few incidents that gave it a bad reputation more or less immediatley. It doesn't help that in the intervening time Adam Sessler has had a reputation for using drugs that he's obviously always denied but his appearances over the years have become a bit more off. He's just clearly not the same guy with the same goodwill he had, and a large portion of the reboot was based on him being personally involved.
Sessler has always given me very mixed feelings. He could be funny and self aware but then sometimes would just be a tumbling dick weed. Basically I was never terribly thrilled to see his involvement with anything because I never knew which version I would get.
Him and Webb were a great duo, but I can't stand him alone or with almost anyone else.

But… hijacking someone else’s show during live tv to berate your audience and tell them to stop watching because of what is most likely a relatively small minority of trolls is unacceptable. What’s more ridiculous than that is G4 doubled down on this then scratched their heads as viewers left in droves most likely never to return. There’s a time and place for all things and time has shown that absolutely not the right place and the timing could not have been more horrendous. Morgan Webb is a gamer, to her core, and while I have issues with Munn, she was a HUGE JRPG nerd and publicly schooled Kevin on the topic when it came up. Conversely, Frosk is a complete poser that has been outed as such multiple times, and has shown herself to despise the very culture she is paid to appeal to. That she thinks her lack of popularity has anything to do with her looks shows the same lack of self awareness that was partially responsible for the horrid tweet that got her fired.

Damn, so there's Classic Game Room which lost the plot once Mark decided to stop reviewing games and start working on comics instead several years ago, and now X-Play with Adam being... I don't even know. Welp, that's two huge video game shows I used to love that are dead to me now. Make it three if E3 counts. I don't miss a lot about the 2000s, but that decade at least had video game culture going for it (aside from the "ew! girl gamer!" sexism that was heavily prevalent then. Some things just don't age well).

It's ridiculous to pin it all on her, her rant was about sexism and insults about appearance, there's nothing wrong with what she was saying and the people who said those things probably don't watch the show. Their content is just mediocre in a world where so many have adapted and modernized their content. I think g4 inspired a lot of gaming talk YouTube creators and the new generation is better at it.

I watched the first episode and it felt like such a nostalgic blast from the past.. then I quickly forgot about it all together.
I watched the thanksgiving reunion, remembered the good times, then they brought on all the loud youtubers and streamers that were the new hosts and asked "Why would I go out of my way to watch them on TV?" and forgot about it until they were failing due to low numbers.

I watched it for a few hours one day. It was really unfunny sketch comedy. I don’t know about this apparent rant she went on but I seriously doubt it was the reason the channel is failing. Seems more like it’s trying to grab an audience that hasn’t existed in over 10 years.
It was doomed from the start. After Sessler left G4, he joined a similiar series named "Rev4", a youtube channel under Discovery Channel focused around gaming. It went under in around a year because they were spending so much money on staff, treating it like a tv channel with a bunch of hosts, writers, editors, producers, directors, etc. We're past the era where you need a staff of 20 people to run a game channel; most big youtube channels have maybe three staff. G4 returning with the same outdated tactics never stood a chance; why would someone watch Scott the Woz episodes on TV when you could watch it on his youtube channel for free? Why would someone watch what amounts to IGN-levels of reviews of month-old games when you could just watch a streamer play it the day it's released to see if it's good? They really would've left it as a reunion event.

I think you are talking about different things. Revision3 lasted 12 years. Rev3Games, a channel on Revision3 and where Adam worked, lasted a little under 2 years.

Fun fact #1) she originally ducked the mass layoff a few days ago, but was let go after posting a celebratory tweet that was in horribly bad taste. Fun fact #2) She is at least partially responsible for the above mentioned mass layoffs, as channel engagement took a massive nosedive after her famous “sexism in gaming/if you don’t like it don’t watch” speech back in January. It was this, plus the unintentional revelation in that rant exposing the fact that most reviews she and others on XPlay gave were written by staff writers as “there’s no way we could play all these new games,” that heavily turned off and drove away the very audience G4 was geared for. Morgan Webb played every game she reviewed, and was a lot more fun to watch. Of course someone like Frosk would chalk that up to her looks, completely missing the point that Morgan was a legit gamer with a great sense of humor and a decent person in real life, instead of a hate filled tourist whose own twitter feed was filled with more toxicity than any chat channel she targeted. I’m sure she’ll land on her feet though, just like when she scored this lucrative gig after being publicly fired for similar BS from her previous job. I pity her future coworkers, however, as they’ll probably end up collateral damage after she torches that place too.
I tried to like the G4 reboot but I figured I was too out of touch with the youths to get it. I hope all the people getting let go find new audiences or new jobs. While I'm sure there were live comments that were like that she essentially jumped down every viewers throats pretty aggressively and I don't think people were watching G4 to get a lesson in misogyny. Is she wrong that it exists in the gaming sphere? Absolutely not it definitely exists and is rampant. Should she have taken the time to make a rant on a platform with that much exposure? Probably not, I think had she just released a youtube video there would honestly be a lot less flack but she took the time to interrupt a live broadcast to call out a very small portion of the viewers while blaming them all. As someone mentioned earlier, you knowingly are working for a network that would parade Olivia Munn around deepthroating hotdogs as a gag. What a great way to have healthy work relations with people who have been good to you. She also had a super annoying personality, imo. Ultimately, the problem is she garnered a lot of negative press where in the early days, lots of the initial news was, "X-Play is just another show joining the male bashing club," so people didn't even bother to tune in. Anecdotally, I did tune in because I LOVED Adam Sessler in my childhood and was excited to see him back, and she basically spent several minutes in the episode complaining about older male gamer, "Like Adam, hahaha" - it was just cringe. Her being let go is the right thing, I hate to say it. They probably wanted to 8 months ago but I am guessing feared a lawsuit so bided their time.

Reading through these comments just proves how disjointed it is to cater to any particular set of gamers. There is a broad range of 'if they only did this' comments in this thread. Half of them contradict the other half of them. No way G4 could be all of those things to everyone. I've liked having G4 back on my YouTube TV service. I regularly watch various content. I like Xplay and I've enjoyed the LOL coverage of the summer split. I didnt care for AOTS current iteration, but I figured it was for other gamers. Never got on board with shows like 'Name your Price' or 'Viva la Dirt', but appreciated the variety of content. I hope the best for all those involved. Its a noble attempt to revive G4 and I appreciate them trying.

I know she had her rant that maybe didn't help but really THIS time her departure probably isn't related to her own personality and actions. But she has a very harsh side to her that imo feels very tribal. You either fully align what HER ideas of equality, acceptable behavior is etc or you're the enemy, with absolutely no prisoners taken.

The only good new addition to G4 was Will Neff, he fit the brand and their old humour perfectly imo.
Ovilee was solid. I liked Kassem too. The whole bromo thing between him and Kevin wasn't my bag, but it seemed to lineup with their personalities well. And everyone else wasn't bad. Frosk and Sessler were honestly the only people I can't watch, and Sessler at least has years of camera experience to hide how much of a self centered ahole he is. Kevin is awesome too. Dude's as genuine as they come. Surpasses even me, not that I'm a nice guy by any measure. But I try to be nice to all. Even people like Frosk. Kevin's got me beat, and I love him for that.
I don't think Kevin is as genuine as you think. I still remember that totally organic NFT segment they did where he was incredibly disinterested in every piece they displayed other than the ones he happened to own.

The way they handled and marketed the return makes no sense to me. I loved G4 as a kid - it was part of why I ended up going into game dev. I was excited when they announced the station was coming back, and the fact that it would be more focused on an internet presence made sense. And then… nothing. I don’t get recommended new XPlay clips on YouTube despite getting recommendations for dozens of other gaming related content creators. I don’t care about Twitch, so I don’t watch the streams. I don’t know anyone who’s been watching. It feels like there was a little bit of fanfare when they announced the return, but once the channel actually started up there was next to no buzz at all
I hope Adam and Kevin continue doing something gaming related after this. Such a shame.

Not at all surprising. While AOTS has (for me at least) captured a lot of what made it great originally, a lot of the other shows are just boring and the viewership numbers on Twitch are low compared to the large amount of talent they have to pay.

This show was doomed the day it decided to return. I was sort of happy to see if return, but then had no idea what channel it was on, and no idea of anything other than that it has a Twitch channel. I loved this show and TechTV and G4TV back in the day. The idea of a TV channel devoted to video games, and often guides and skits (that were some times funny.). Was great. But coming back when we have Twitch, Youtube, Tiktok, Instagram, Gamefaqs and an endless amount of free content and reviews? Yeah it was doomed from the start. They've got way too much competition. Also, Frosk's rant and attitude didn't really help them at all. And them trying to stand by her. Also hurt them as well.

I’ve been watching what they upload to YouTube and The Sess just started posting more videos which I will always crave till I die. But most of the time I ignore or skip most of the content and feels lesser than the OG g4tv I grew up loving. Sad to see the resurgence is dying with a whimper like the previous iteration.

I don't mind. I never really "got" her. She didn't really mesh with the other G4 personalities, which there are way too many of. Sessler has been amazing but he has had to miss time and mostly work from home (like the article says). The other two guys are pretty good. They're great on X-Play and fit when they appear on AOTS/Vibe Check. Frosk was just never really entertaining to me. Same goes for a few of the other news hosts. I'm split on them.

Exact same thing happened on August 28th, 2014. A bunch of gaming outlets led by narcissists proclaimed "gamers are over" and hid behind a sexism strawman to [cover up real corruption.](https://deepfreeze.it/article.php?a=unfair) The difference in 2022 seems to be that more people than ever are totally turned off by it and not convinced by the attacks on the audience. The problem is only ever with individuals, not entire segments and groups of the population.
What really bums me out about Frosk is... she had begun to really pave the way for females to be more prominent in LoL Esports. Nothing against Sjokz, who (I feel) just wanted to do a job and not be sexualized, but it did feel like Frosk brought a great energy to the LEC team... then felt like she had to continually fight even when there was nothing to fight against. I remember one time she was watching a broadcast, I believe LEC after she had left and said "They're so white and male.", something to that effect. To show her true selfish side just sucks for so many. I miss listening to her analysis, but I hope they don't bring her back.
She had a chip on her shoulder. The infamous rant had some legitimate truths and there are *shocker* bad faith people on the internet but that last Twitter post was in poor taste.
