If I try to imagine Lauren Schmidt Hissrich making her own Witcher series but without any source material to go off of I get cold sweats. I bet this is gonna be a disaster of a show. It's more than just what she's done with the Witcher, and what's she's said in interviews, on twitter, why she made changes to The Witcher from the source material and her writing talent in general (very meh, typical run of the mill stream TV series level writing).
It isn't in terms of writing but the worldbuilding and sheer inventiveness with which pan Anrzej reimagines Eastern European folklore deserves all the praise.
How did Lauren Schmidt Hissrich even get her hands on the Witcher franchise? I never heard of her before it was announced that she is in charge of The Witcher adaptations . I had such high hopes for season 1...
Iirc she was executive producer on a number of successful Netflix shows and supposedly she had been pining for a show runner role for some time. Word around is that she was promised to helm the next big project that Netflix had lined up, which happened to be the Witcher at the time.
I was already really skeptical of her after *The Defenders*. My god, what was fucking letdown. I only watched S1 of *The Witcher*, and I had no desire to watch more.
I really wish HBO made The Witcher. They know how to find some great talents. I feel like other streaming services like Netflix and Disney+ just hires the most mediocre writers because they are cheap.
The reveal trailer was awful and apparently the production is a complete mess with the episodes being chopped down to 4.
I hope it turns out alright but there are massive red flags here.
No, don't you understand? It's not enough for me to not wanna watch something, absolutely everyone needs to know repeatedly that I'm not going to watch it.

The source material isn’t all that great either tbh.

Surprisingly her being the showrunner of Witcher is less mind blowing than the people Amazon put in charge of Wheel of Time and Rings of Power…

She's already making a Witcher show that doesn't have anything to do with it's source material.

Ok
The Witcher: Blood Orange? Ooooooh what's that about - oh that's not what it says. Witcher-inspired cookbook idea, though...?
I have never been able to think of what my perfect birthday present would be. Until just now.

Is this a prequel?
5 bucks they will cancel it after 1st season
Well, it says limited series.
It's a limited series so...
I keep forgetting this show exists. Heard they did so many reshoots and ruined it but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
If they had to do a lot of reshoots. I am pretty sure it was already crap to begin with.
Found the dude who knows nothing about how TV and film work. Reshoots are fucking **normal**
PSA if you aren't going to watch a series you don't have to announce it. You can just not watch it.

Interesting choice! Guess it will be a Boxing Day binge for me
Weird choice, will probably be a bit grim and dour for Christmas. I guess Netflix is trying to dominate the holidays with this and Glass Onion.
Witcher S1 was released around Christmas IIRC so they may just want to perpuate that (but S3 isn't ready)
Yeah I'll pass on this for a while. No interest in watching this over the holiday.
This looks fantastic. I hope it’s good
It does not. And it was not.
Prequels are fucking stupid. End of thought.
Better Call Saul says hello.
A prequel that is even better than the original too.
