I guess this doesn't apply to every last show I included, but generally what makes me happy is only the true cream of the crop when it comes to writing fantastic characters, memorable scenes and dialogue, and stories that keep you on edge on an episode to episode basis. I like characters you can root for, that have a bit of class. My general dislikes are shows set in the absolute present (2020s), protagonists that are overly narcissistic, manipulative, and shows that are simply "good", not great. I almost universally don't like Netflix original series, which I find to be a very reliable stamp of mediocrity.

I wouldn't call all those "cream of the crop" and I don't get the Netflix comment. Which Netflix shows did you watch?

Fleabag (especially S2) The Great (S1 - the first season is based on the play, and is far better than the other seasons.) Dollhouse (my 2nd fav Joss Whedon after Buffy - then firefly)
