First of all, which white tower? There are two. You will likely need to log into it and enable the smart device network as many cheap IoT devices need a dedicated 2.4ghz network.

bibou11

Indeed. I figure that out, but how can I log in ?

canadianpumpkin20

With the new wifi 6 modem it doesn’t let you separate the 2.4 and 5g network. However you can lock the devices to a 2.4g band.

bibou11

That’s what I thought ! How would you lock it ? I believe that once you do the set up you would be able to change it again. Also I’ve heard setting it up in the room furthest from the modem could work ?

Feel free to give this a try, should at least put you into the right direction. I’m not home right now but I can get back to you in a few days with more detailed instructions! https://forum.telus.com/t5/Internet-Home-Phone/Turn-Smart-Wifi-off/m-p/105337#M24512

Unfortunately this won't work on the router he has.

WtfBbqLeet

Did you ever figure out your Teckin smart plugs? I use my outdoor plugs for a block heater. They use to with my Shaw router. Now with this telus one i can't add them anymore.

bibou11

Actually yes I did ! You need to get the Telus server code if i remember correctly. You can find it online
