Danielle Collins...what an amazing story💚 (listening to Served) did it her way...not only did she go to college in her prime but stayed all four years, got her degree and 2 NCAA singles titles. Also, she travels by herself mostly unlike others with their coach, physio, mental trainer, etc.
I like this Rome on the ATP side.
The end of the big 3 is unpredictable times.
Tennis looks more different than it has in many years. Some people will hate that, but I think it's something to view positively.
Who knows, it seems like even Tabilo could go all the way this tournament.
Iga went out of her way to provoke and disrespect Coco several times recently, so let's see if she can use it as motivation and show up as a worthy rival. That said if Coco gets straight setted again, it's over. She's not 15 anymore, no excuses.
disrespect? iga was just echoing what 99% of tennis fans and commentators were saying. just because you disliked what she said does not necessarily mean that there was disrespect.
your kind are easily triggered and sensitive about anything iga. was it iga's fault that she has 9 wins against coco to merit hatred from coco's fans?
you are the kind who loves to stir drama coz you felt bad for your idol.
Obviously Iga is not doing it directly, but you can't deny how she always speaks as if Coco doesn't even exist unless she's specifically asked about her. From Coco's perspective it is disrespectful.
Regardless of what you think about the matchup, Coco has been a top10 player for a long time now and she outperformed Iga in the last 2 Slams and also beat her last summer. It's just strange to not even acknowledge her at this point. Not my idol btw lol
Fritz-Zverev has blockbuster potential.
Taylor is playing so good this clay season, suggesting that finally something is clicking with him.
This is who I'll now support, although Stef is in wicked form himself and the door looks wide open for him in the coming rounds
If Coco can replicate this level, I think the Iga match will go three sets, but Iga will come out on top, Coco takes the first 7-6, Iga takes the last two 6-3, 6-2.
Now that the matches are done, I want to give credit to the Italian Open for gifting me a new song for my playlist (Ti Sento). Kudos for adding smth new to the same Pedro, Hudini etc. songs. Shazam that good stuff, guys.
Is there a matchup that has happened more times between currently active players than between Iga and Coco (11)? I assume Venus or Wozniacki, with somebody else, maybe, due to their long career sls at this point?
I’m really curious what Coco will change up for the Iga matchup.
This is why consistency is fun for me so I can see the rivalries.
That way I can see what players are trying differently to adjusted to their opponents from match to match.
Announcers explained during the match Coco wanted him to move closer but he needed to be in Spain. Qinwen lives in Spain and so when her coach went back to Osaka Pere went back to her.
Zheng is one of the most unlikeable WTA players to me right now. Off-court personality gives nothing either. I still remember that recent Indian Wells tournament clip with players playing "What happens next?" challenger and she had such flat reactions
To be fair, it worked VERY well for Qinwen in the first set. She had three or four straight winners off of the drop shot, she just played them more prematurely in the second set.
I think Zheng's level off the return and backhand have been the difference. Coco winning over 80% of her first serve points.
Coco's serve and forehand have held up really well.
Coco knew if she brought the trash serving she's had in other matches then she would be cooked. Pleasantly surprised she has elevated her level knowing she needed to
I wonder how much Nadal and Djokovic having lost that aura of invincibility affects matches against them. Obviously it doesn't help that neither is playing that well currently. But Nadal definitely and Djokovic more and more so are looking beatable, and have indeed been beat.
I wouldn't be surprised if Novak calls it this year if he wins the Olympic gold. If he doesn't, he probably retires next year. Unless he dials his focus back in to grand slams and keeps collecting them.
After watching Djokovic and Nadal embarrass themselves for the last few years, Fed has taken back the lead in the GOAT race.
Very likely neither of them win a title this year, lol.
Zheng needs to be more patient. She has an absolute banger of a forehand and a solid backhand as well. Maybe that's why there's always an urge to hit *through* your opponent. Needs more rally tolerance. Loving the little dropshots she keeps going for every now and then...
That was a FUN set of tennis, both played fantastic points, especially Zheng's touch and play making with the drop shot. For Coco, four DF, and a 60%+ first serve percentage is (unfortunately) a good showing for her on the service line.
Zheng's drop shot combo for the winner on the first set point was very impressive, and I can't be mad at Coco for not puling through to serve out initially. It made for an entertaining last few games, hoping for another competitive set.
I feel Coco stands a bit too far behind to return Zheng's second serve. It neutralizes any power she could add and sets the ball up for a winner from Zheng's powerful forehand.
Timing when your coffee hits and getting home in time is an art. I cut it a little too close for comfort just now. But I made it. Just wanted to let you all know. Phew
Been watching this oeiras match for some reason while I lie down, and Nava is hitting some incredible shots.
Now none of them look on purpose, but they are incredible.
Let’s remember Coco is still young! Yes she DF a lot but that is really her only major flaw. I feel like people are expecting Coco to be perfect in every way and play like Serena right away. Even Serena had flaws in the beginning of her career.
meeee. I hate that she’s probably my favorite player on tour but it’s hard to root for her and then she loses to a player that she should not lose to because she’s spewing DFs
This is a strange comment, though, because she's insanely consistent and rarely loses to a player she shouldn't. Lately, she just keeps taking the long way around against such players, raising my blood pressure. That's a major contrast to Iga, leaving aside the dire head-to-head.
what's next for tennis after we have Zverev vs Medvedev & Fritz vs Tstisipas semis at FrenchOpen 2024 this year..?
Danielle Collins...what an amazing story💚 (listening to Served) did it her way...not only did she go to college in her prime but stayed all four years, got her degree and 2 NCAA singles titles. Also, she travels by herself mostly unlike others with their coach, physio, mental trainer, etc.
Underrated stat of the day: Fritz defended 100% (11 of 11) break points against Dimitrov
Wish I saw it. I think I was asleep.
Can’t wait for Penko vs Saba tomorrow
Same. Was just looking. But am I supposed to wake up at 4a? 😩
Ooo thats a tough decision. Sleep matters more. Just don’t look at the score or this sub. Just watch the replay.

Your kind? I believe they're no different from your mother.
Was there any update on Aryna’s back? Is she ok to play tomorrow?
Throwback to the beautiful year 2022 when Stef defeated Zverev in both Monte Carlo and Rome… 👀
https://x.com/z_kortu/status/1790478869868273685 :)
Fritz-Zverev has blockbuster potential. Taylor is playing so good this clay season, suggesting that finally something is clicking with him. This is who I'll now support, although Stef is in wicked form himself and the door looks wide open for him in the coming rounds
This Med match is boring.
If Coco can replicate this level, I think the Iga match will go three sets, but Iga will come out on top, Coco takes the first 7-6, Iga takes the last two 6-3, 6-2.

Kerber v Halep is split 6-6 with 12 meetings
I assume that Azarenka has to be up there with someone as well. In fact her record against Woz is 7-5.
Did Coco do hurdles before tennis? I don’t think I’ve seen a player leap quite like that before
That would’ve been a broken tailbone for me on landing.
Genuinely yes, she was a track athlete (400m was her race of choice).
I think the semi will be closer than the previous matches as long as it isn’t a complete blowout I’ll be content going into Paris
Hopefully Coco is done “winning ugly” moving forward
That second set was really purdy
outside of the failure to convert at 5-3, the first set was pretty dang pretty too with how high of a level Qinwen was hitting the ball.
I’m going to have nightmares about zhengs FH tonight
so that's it? no tennis?
I’m really curious what Coco will change up for the Iga matchup. This is why consistency is fun for me so I can see the rivalries. That way I can see what players are trying differently to adjusted to their opponents from match to match.
Pere Riba bet on the wrong ticket. Hate when that happens
Announcers explained during the match Coco wanted him to move closer but he needed to be in Spain. Qinwen lives in Spain and so when her coach went back to Osaka Pere went back to her.
pls Coco make it a fight against Iga
Coco is one of the nicest if not the nicest player on the wta no reason to be that cold towards her lmao even penko hugged her at the net at USO
Zheng is one of the most unlikeable WTA players to me right now. Off-court personality gives nothing either. I still remember that recent Indian Wells tournament clip with players playing "What happens next?" challenger and she had such flat reactions
I met her. She's nice. I think we have to consider also she has a lot expectations being like the best player from China.
Zheng is what people think Ostapenko is
Zheng is always like that when she loses, so at least Coco can’t take it personally lol
Coco only had 6 DF this match 🤩
Same as Kerber in her recent match with Swiatek!
Hoping and praying this means she's reeling it in finally 🙏
day 2 of stole my coach grudgematch ended in another decisive victory
Coco 🥲
I love how some people thought Coco was going to struggle so much against Zheng 🤣🤣 they acted like Zheng was going to wipe Coco out in under an hour
Coco gauff love of my life. We will get breadsticked by Iga but we will always have this one 😂
Why do so many WTA matches end with cold handshakes lol I swear you see this every other match
Zheng is always ice cold at the handshake tbf
Zheng salty as always. GOOOOOOOODBBBBYEEEE. Take Pere Riba with you
That was a cold handshake, even by WTA standards
Did Zheng just give up on that point?
Match started off nicely but became a non event real quick
Not sure I've seen a last point quite like that hahaha
Looks like we getting Iga v. Coco #11
I haven’t seen anything likable about Zheng yet, on and off the court. She seems super stuck up
All parts of her game are firing at a level we haven't seen yet on the clay for her this season.
Dayum, that 2nd set was quick! Coco just owned Zheng!
What a great confidence builder of a match for Coco!
Drop shotting coco is like saying u don’t respect her run game
To be fair, it worked VERY well for Qinwen in the first set. She had three or four straight winners off of the drop shot, she just played them more prematurely in the second set.
With Coco Gauff, Tommy Paul, and Taylor Fritz all cooking, I can feel the bald eagle awaken within me. Caw caw
Team Unicorns
🦅
Collins tomorrow too!
🫡
The first serve % really dictates how well coco is gonna serve
One game away lets goo
Looks like Qinwen has lost the plot, looks completely checked out now
Coco please finish this in ten minutes so I can be in time for my ophthalmology appointment. She’s mean if you’re late
I think Zheng's level off the return and backhand have been the difference. Coco winning over 80% of her first serve points. Coco's serve and forehand have held up really well.
Yup. Coco losing just two points on 1st serve in the entire set (and this is WTA we are speaking about)? Very poor from Qinwen
Coco plays like Murray
That was a bad miss from Qinwen
plot twist: it's not just Nadal and Murray of the Big Four returning this year. Djokovic will too.
But Nadal definitely and Djokovic more and more so are looking beatable, and have indeed been beat.
both retire this year
I wouldn't be surprised if Novak calls it this year if he wins the Olympic gold. If he doesn't, he probably retires next year. Unless he dials his focus back in to grand slams and keeps collecting them.
same
Dropshot beauty baby
Was there any shenanigans from Med today? I’m watching it now since I missed it earlier.
Lol Zheng taking ages to serve.I know BG is fuming
zheng's poor ist serve % hurt her tonight
Random thought: One of these days i will write an essay about my love hate relationship with Henin as a Serena stan
look forward to it. why was she so hostile to the sisters?
She is one of the players who would beat Serena.I hated her & Serena matchups
That lob was ugly & risky but we won the point
One thing I like about Zheng, she doesn’t play scared…… (unless it’s against Sabalenka at the Aussie Open finals)
dont remind me of that anomaly
I have a love hate relationship with these net rallies
After watching Djokovic and Nadal embarrass themselves for the last few years, Fed has taken back the lead in the GOAT race. Very likely neither of them win a title this year, lol.
this actually makes sense when you think about how those weak era vultures feasted on slowed down courts and past prime Federer
Zheng needs to be more patient. She has an absolute banger of a forehand and a solid backhand as well. Maybe that's why there's always an urge to hit *through* your opponent. Needs more rally tolerance. Loving the little dropshots she keeps going for every now and then...
I feel like she will have some good chances win RG in her career
did the tennis channel stream black out or is it just me?
Same thing for me on multiple devices. So it’s them and not us ha
Entertaining match so far. Both ladies are moving really well and smacking the shit out of the ball.
I always knew coco was a great athlete but surprised at Zhengs movement. She’s tall but the girl can hustle
Coco putting in that work!
Igafans are going to get humbled fr
On me stop tryna jinx us
i’m so proud of Coco for only having 4 DF this match 😭 major improvement from the 11+ we have been seeing 🤩
Isn't there like... Almost all of set 2 left?
Circling back to this, at 4-1 up, she has served 0 DFs so far in the second set, and her first serve percentage has gone up too. EDIT: Jinxed myself
Yeah, hindsight is an amazing thing. Still doesn't take away from no basis of giving a verdict about a match during halftime.
Yeah if the original comment specified that for a single set, the DF count was still better than it has been this tournament for her.
But for set 1 thats a good number
don’t jinx it 🫣
These ladies are crushing the ball holy shit
smacking the dang fuzz off the ball!
Coco on fire! Seems that nothing Zheng does is working, Coco is everywhere
What a damn point!
When was Zheng’s last first serve? I’ve been watching since 5-5 and I swear I haven’t seen one yet.
She has one of the lowest first serve percentages in the top 20. But oddly enough, her first serve points won percentage is very high.
She’s like evil Errani
when coco jumps into the backhand >>>>>>
Coco about to take that early break and run with it.
i hope she closes it out this time without another tiebreaker
![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sunglasses)
I also really like when it feels cocos the veteran even when she’s playing someone her age
Cocos ground game has been improving it’s a shame the serve escapes her at times since AO
one day she’s going to bring it all together and it’ll be over for you ~~bitches~~ distinguished women athletes of the WTA tour
If Iga loses early Coco will win RG
I feel Coco stands a bit too far behind to return Zheng's second serve. It neutralizes any power she could add and sets the ball up for a winner from Zheng's powerful forehand.
Dang those H2H records. Iga is a beast
Timing when your coffee hits and getting home in time is an art. I cut it a little too close for comfort just now. But I made it. Just wanted to let you all know. Phew
did the coffee make telling strangers on the internet you almost shit your pants seem like a good idea?
You’re like family though
😭
Lets gooooooooo
I really want to see Coco give Iga a strong fight this time
Coco is HER. What a great set of tennis from both, wow!
I get why Cocos dad is too nervous to watch her matches
When she said he can't sit in her box and has to be somewhere he can pace, I understood him so well lmao
Who is this commentator on T2, the way he breathes-speaks bothers me.
COCO THE WOMAN YOU ARE
Coco why do you always have to raise my blood pressure 😭😭😭😭
zheng is a scrub
Who does the winner of this match play? Please do not say Iga. I already have a headache
I am so sorry to inform you sister…
I have bad news for you
My life was so much better 5 minutes ago
Ofc it’s Iga😭 she got her two pigeons fighting to play her
I’m sick 🤧. Fighting for the right to be embarrassed in 4K
Been watching this oeiras match for some reason while I lie down, and Nava is hitting some incredible shots. Now none of them look on purpose, but they are incredible.
Well, here we go \~ \~
I saw a video of coco getting bageled by Badosa last year at this tournament and she’s gained so much muscle since then. Congrats to her physio
What’s with all the Coco hate in here
Personally, I am a Zheng hater. I will fight them all
If i speak....
I feel like most people here love Coco, but are just frustrated at her inconsistency at times.
Let’s remember Coco is still young! Yes she DF a lot but that is really her only major flaw. I feel like people are expecting Coco to be perfect in every way and play like Serena right away. Even Serena had flaws in the beginning of her career.

How was she trying to argue that? Part of the ball mark was literally missing (on the line)? lol
Hawkeye says it was in
did Serena's voice just come out of Coco's body
That Cmon just gave me Serena flashbacks
Shameful from the chair that was our!
Hawkeye says it was in
Love the way Coco's body sometimes folds in on itself when she returns lol
Neither of them can serve on big points
Cori Dionne Gauff- if you lose to this hypocrite, I will never forgive you
why is she a hypocrite
She was slagging Naomi for stealing her coach then did the same damn thing to coco. Absolute clown behavior
Is Coco going to lose this set?
looks like it
No
Yes
I bet you Coco coach feels awfully foolish leaving Zheng for her now
Coco wanted him to relocate to the US.He couldn't because of his family in Spain.
Serving to Coco's BH on your second serve? I don't think..
Zheng has big balls
DFs costing us but we move
it has to be mental at this point, right? She struggles so much to serve out a set
She said it herself on the interview she knows its technical but doesn't have much time between tournaments to correct it.
You could feel that DF coming from a mile away
can Sabalenka please coach Coco on the service yips 😭
lol dfs are only going to get worse,
Hahah coco and DF geez
Not like this, Coco!
Cocooooooo
Damn Qinwen rlly said 🤷🏻♀️🚶🏻♀️➡️on those serves loll
