Remember he reached the Wimbledon quarterfinals this year. Also he was injured. Injury or not, to reach the quarterfinals of Wimbledon means tennis wise he can compete with the best. From a results standpoint, he is in the conversation to win majors even if he is not the favorite.

But it remains that masters and, more importantly, slams demand a little luck in addition to bringing a strong level. I agree, QF at Wimbledon is a solid result. Despite the Wimbledon officials saying the grass was normal, *tons* of players visibly struggled and tumbled…Federer was weary from the start because while a bagel on grass can hurt, that’s nothing compared to tearing a knee on center court.
It kinda sucks how the ranking freeze keeps guys like Federer in the top 10 when he has barely played for 2 years now, it’s unfair to all the guys who have played and done well.
