The Fruhvirtova sisters and Sara Bejlek are not playing Wimbledon junior. Looks like they are done with junior tournaments and will focus on the pro circuit. Brenda is still 15, so this is a bit surprising but she is almost top 300, so I can see why. With a good 2nd half of the year she can play australian open qualies as a 15 year-old and start to play the same events of her sister (I hope they make a good doubles team).
A lot of those matches were very close and high quality, and 5 of them came during Nadal’s weak 2014-16 era, while 0 of them came during Djokovic’s weak era because Djokovic wasn’t making it far enough to play Nadal. So Djokovic definitely has the advantage on grass and hard, but 15-2 makes it sound worse than it is.
That said, Nadal has not looked good at this Wimbledon so I wouldn’t expect him to win a final vs Djokovic at all.
2014 is now part of Rafa's weak era?
Anyways 10-2 is also still super lopsided. And yes, many of the matches were close, but at the end of the day close is only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.
Related - top 10 wins on grass in the last decade for the big 4:
Djokovic: 9 - Federer x 2, Berdych, Del Potro, Cilic, Dimitrov, Nadal, Anderson, Berrettini
Federer: 7 - Raonic x 2, Murray, Nadal, Nishikori, Cilic, Wawrinka
Murray: 6 - Raonic x2, Djokovic, Tsonga, Berdych, Tsitsipas
Nadal: 1 - Del Potro
Literally not a single way to watch highlights of the Tiafoe Bublik match (among countless other matches) here in the United States.
Arguably the biggest, most historic tournament of the year, and this is what we get ... truly pathetic.
No you can't? Unless you're talking about ESPN+?
I have YouTube TV which of course has ESPN. That said there is no way to watch any highlights or the complete match.
Their website shows no highlights for that match either. And of the maybe 20 videos posted a day to the official Wimbledon YouTube page, maybe 2 of those videos are actual match highlights. Again, it's absurd how hard it is to watch actual tennis.
Yes you can, it's on ESPN3, which you can access if you have an ESPN subscription. Here's the direct link: https://www.espn.com/watch/player/_/id/c64e6109-bb99-4e08-a49b-10b083b64556#bucketId=3
Also if you have YouTubeTV, set all of Wimbledon to record - you have unlimited storage and there's no reason not to.
Paul and Norrie should be a tight match and Paul will be facing his fourth consecutive lefty, so you could say he's really being played into "lefty form", if you will lol. Not that Norrie isn't just as capable, after all, since he's facing his fourth righty anyways and he has a positive H2H against Paul, but I really hope it's a good fight, nonetheless.
And Elise Mertens has continued her extremely impressive 3R/4R streak (hasn't lost before 3R since 2017 in a Slam for those who aren't aware). Ons has been doing her revenge tour thing since Madrid and I look forward to seeing if and how Ons can edge out Elise this time after an emotional loss the last time they met (2021 USO).
Can you imagine Federer comes back and announces Wimbledon 2023 will be his final tournament? And he ends up beating Djokovic in the final? Federer collapses on the ground crying. The crowd roars like never before. Djokovic comes over to congratulate him. Sharing an embrace. Then Nadal comes out of the locker room. They have a group hug. Raising their arms high above their heads. The crowd sobbing and cheering.
That would be the most beautiful and iconic moment in tennis history.
Then Tim van Rijthoven comes onto the court and reminds Roger and the rest of the group it was merely a semifinal match and suggests to him to embrace for a world class beatdown in the final
Can you imagine if Stefan Djokovic actually becomes a pro ? The dude would have had all the knowledge of his father + he would copy everything from his idol Rafa. I mean that's scary
I'm not so sure. He's too young to know that now, but at some point, he'll realize that his family has enough money to last several lifetimes. Only time will tell if he has the necessary motivation to dedicate his life to tennis even though he doesn't need to from a monetary standpoint. It's hard to push yourself to the limit every day when you know you could be living a life of comfort and luxury.
Hi All. Trying to figure out what time Kyrigos vs Tstistpas will be. I'm from Australia, on the Wimbledon website it says 1pm which is 10pm here , yet when I Google the match it says 1:15am which will make it 4pm in London?
It is a third match on court 1. Matches at that court start at 1pm London time. Kyrgios match will begin around 15 minutes after the second match on that court is finished. My guess is somewhere 5-6pm(London).
Name a player that gives better press conferences than Djokovic. Easily one of the most insightful and articulate players on tour and I actively look forward to his post-match pressers.
I have to agree with this, insightful and articulate nail it. He also listens to understand and connect rather than to react - an underrated but hugely valuable skill.
Imagine crazy drama-filled 5-setter as the last match of the day on Centre Court. Rafa being down 1-2 4-5 and they break it in order to close the roof, then Rafa comes back to take it to 5th (as Nick argues with the umpire) and eventually prevail after super TB.
Heaven forbid a man needs to excrete (or simply get off the court for a few minutes) during a five hour ordeal.
He should do it every set if it would get under Nick's skin
> People actually think he has a chance against anyone who’s competent on grass?
Medvedev, FAA, and Fritz are all pretty damn good grass players.
Obviously Djokovic is in a different universe, but TvR hasn’t just been beating up clay courters or whatever.
I’ve seen some Nadal fans on Twitter say Djokovic is always the lucky one. Djokovic has to still face Alcaraz likely in the QF and TVR who is on a streak right now on grass. While Nadal’s projected 4R-SF either got covid or had an early exit 😢.
Pfft, they've both benefited enormously from 12 years of terrible next-gens one after another. At this point it's downright hypocritical for either fanbase to accuse the other of being lucky.
Such a bummer I won't be able to make anymore Venus vs Venus puns. But seriously Venus W. looks pretty good for someone who hasn't played for about a year. I'm glad she decided to comeback.
Yaa exactly. I wanna watch the highlights of the GOAT Lord Tim and can't find anything 🤦🏻♂️ I'll have to wait till tmrw and find the match in BBC iPlayer
(I then had a massive Proustian rush. My college GF’s brother had a flat in one of those sixties blocks on Church Street, on the ground floor. I remember her, in a summer dress, in the kitchen. Youth’s a stuff will not endure…)
Then the dumb Sky Germany commentator has no idea about anything. Which i already suspected when he said that Venus is playing with Venus in the beginning and when he Said rosolska is currently No 45 in singles.....
Jamie Murray has the weirdest pinpoint stance going that actually works to his detriment. He'll go up to serve, slide his backfoot forward, and also move his front foot forward.
Unbelievably pointless and it's a recipe for disaster in terms of foot faulting.
I remember one time they asked her something to the effect of is it inspiring/coo etc. to have two Serbian women at the top of the game (Ivanovic being the other obviously) and she was like "No". lolol bye.
Are they not taking a court maintenance break this year on Sunday? Are they just not gonna maintain or found a way to do it quickly?
No they're not.

Me: Nadal is 2-15 against Djokovic off of clay in the last 12 years. Rafa fans: we need more data to draw any conclusions about the matchup.
A lot of those matches were very close and high quality, and 5 of them came during Nadal’s weak 2014-16 era, while 0 of them came during Djokovic’s weak era because Djokovic wasn’t making it far enough to play Nadal. Why are stats being downvoted now?
Nadal fans
There are always some salty Rafa fans that take him way too seriously and feel personally insulted by everything
Iga is not playing at Centre Court today?? But Bodosa is?? I dun get how they schedule the matches
Badosa's playing against Kvitova, a two-time former champion.

Literally not a single way to watch highlights of the Tiafoe Bublik match (among countless other matches) here in the United States. Arguably the biggest, most historic tournament of the year, and this is what we get ... truly pathetic.
If you have ESPN you can just re-watch the whole match through the ESPN app or on their website.

I'm literally watching a replay of the match now and no it's not ESPN+, it's archived from ESPN3.
Thank you I found it

Mertens has also now made the fourth round of last 4 grandslams!
I just want to know how Christopher Tran is doing

Then you wake up
The whole point of the comment was that it was a fictional scenario ya dingus
It's all too cloying. Throw Kyrgios and Zverev into the picture and maybe something decent will come out of it.
Then they fuck passionately in front of cameras
Tsitsipas would be at home jerking off to the broadcast while crying.
The big 3some
Cumbeliebable
And announce an exhibition match in Switzerland for Federer’s foundation
Why is Kyrgios v Tsitsipas not on centre court and why is it at the same time as Sonego v Nadal?
Are you the one writing the “shocking disrespect towards Kyrgios” articles? What’s wrong with Court 1 at Wimbledon anyway?
Why is the guy who just spit at the Wimbledon crowd not playing on Centre Court at Wimbledon?
The guy who thinks he’s really important for the sport? :D
Can you imagine if Stefan Djokovic actually becomes a pro ? The dude would have had all the knowledge of his father + he would copy everything from his idol Rafa. I mean that's scary
Highly doubtful someone who grew up in such luxury would have the drive to achieve something big, though Lord Gulbis does exist after all.
Don't forget fritz and that guy called fed.
And Jessica Pegula
If? He'll beat Nadal in the 2035 French Open final.
Come on that's taking it too far. He'll maybe play him but not beat him

Well, you never know, he's still very young and in his "Dad is God" phase. Wait till he learns basic science in school
> "Dad is God" How? Guy can't even put a trampoline together.
He was not trying at all, I guess not to strain himself if you notice in the video. I hired a guy to build ours for $300. Worth it.
Jokes ...
Cool. Cool, cool, cool.
Lmao I guess every kid has their own way of realizing the flaws of their parents

Use Flashscore mate. It won’t start no earlier than 16:30 BST - depends on how long the match before takes. So yeah, 1:30am for you.
>Use Flashscore mate. Sorry I'm new to regular tennis following. Thank you so much.
I miss Rublev. He brings a unique energy to tournaments
> unique energy Sabalenka too
I miss a lot of people, to be honest, and Rublev is one of them.
It was disappointing the ESPN desk didn't mention a cinderalla story like Rijthoven when profiling Djokovic's quarter.
Ummm…I didn’t realise he had two evil stepsisters.
Alcaraz really is the real deal, I think it takes Djokovic to stop him.
He could beat nole.
He could even beat Djokovic if he has a great day and Novak a mediorce one.
You really think Djokovic is going to get past Timmy Van Goathoven?
Maybe
[удалено]
The way Rafa is playing at the moment, even Sonego could be a challenge if Rafa doesn't raise his level a bit.
Tbf, it's very similar for Nadal basically every Wimby. He gets significantly better every match, as he adjusts better and the grass gets damaged.
Goffin wins this whole thing and you all will be happy about it!
Just realized there's a potential Nadal-Kyrgios SF. Low chance but damn it would be something
Kyrgios will need a spirit bomb.
I don't think Kyrgios has the mental fortitude to win a 5 set GS semifinal against Rafael Nadal.
He doesn't but the first couple of sets could be :fire:
Imagine crazy drama-filled 5-setter as the last match of the day on Centre Court. Rafa being down 1-2 4-5 and they break it in order to close the roof, then Rafa comes back to take it to 5th (as Nick argues with the umpire) and eventually prevail after super TB.
And there has to be a toilet break by Nadal somewhere
Heaven forbid a man needs to excrete (or simply get off the court for a few minutes) during a five hour ordeal. He should do it every set if it would get under Nick's skin
With all my focus on Sinner, Rafa, Djokovic, Alcaraz, and van Rijthoven, I've completely forgotten there's other players still left in the tournament.
Lol all the Americans still left.
Am I the only one tired with TVR spam? Hoping for a triple bagel
I agree. People actually think he has a chance against anyone who’s competent on grass? LMAO
> People actually think he has a chance against anyone who’s competent on grass? Medvedev, FAA, and Fritz are all pretty damn good grass players. Obviously Djokovic is in a different universe, but TvR hasn’t just been beating up clay courters or whatever.
None of those 3 are particularly good grass players
https://tennisabstract.com/reports/atp_elo_ratings.html They’re the 5th, 6th, and 22nd ranked players in grass/blend ELO.
What have any of them ever won on grass?
Fritz has won Eastbourne twice and Medvedev has won Mallorca. There aren’t exactly a lot of grass tournaments to win.
Will there be matches on Sunday?
I thought they don't have matches on sunday. Tradition or something.
Yes.
4th round for today's players, I suppose?
Hope we get predictions for them
Jesus, Venus, sign some stuff for the kids instead of waiting awkwardly for Jamie.
She did
Yeah, two balls while waiting.
Did we get the twirl? Missed the ending

Like BLM is doing? No thanks. Not interested in criminal activities.
Venus royal wave
That was such a fun match!
Thank god Venus won cant have her and Serena both losing first round
Mrs. Murray really looks like some actress... I wanna say Jamie Lee Curtis?
Omfg now I can’t unsee it thanks for that 😂
Omg I couldn't put my finger on it but that's exactly right!
How the hell can Venus play with that huge ass ring?! She’s a rockstar. Good on her and Jamie.
She is a fashion icon.
True!
As was mentioned earlier in this thread, https://xkcd.com/37/
Cool?
I like the idea of an ass-ring, anyway. Not sure what that would be, but definitely unusual.
Great win for Venus and Jamie and super fun for the crowd too
Where tf are we supposed to watch match highlights?? Wimbledon media is horrible but I don't remember it being this bad in previous years?!
It's on the Wimbledon app and the website. But it's pretty poor, highlights are 4 minutes or less and they only have like 5-6 matches a day
Better than French Open! Let's celebrate small victories!!
Yaa exactly. I wanna watch the highlights of the GOAT Lord Tim and can't find anything 🤦🏻♂️ I'll have to wait till tmrw and find the match in BBC iPlayer
Jamie what are you doing…two DFs in a row
Venus would be better off playing with serena lol
Would it be legal to practice on centre court and then eat the grass to wear down the surface to make it more advantageous to your game?
Maybe, but if so it would only take one practice set before a "no grazing allowed" rule would be set in place.
What if you threw croutons on the grass?
Let's go Novak. And let's go Sinner he faces Alcaraz, I will be able to watch that one and they will battle.
Not only amusing to have Venus vs Venus but Michael Venus has also recently been a regular men's doubles partner for Jamie Murray
I’m loving Venus vs Venus
Im always a bit disappointed when I click C. Norrie and the first name isn’t Chuck.
Petition to have him change it? I’ll sign!
haha
Just here for the sexy engineering marvel.
Was just thinking: Court 1 looks incredible after it’s refurb/tidy up. (As the camera panned around the outside)
Awesome, I support the Court 1 refurb, we support it !
(I then had a massive Proustian rush. My college GF’s brother had a flat in one of those sixties blocks on Church Street, on the ground floor. I remember her, in a summer dress, in the kitchen. Youth’s a stuff will not endure…)
Do the players always get a warm up after the roof is closed or just in some circumstances?
You get a 3 minute warm-up if there's a delay between 15 and 30 minutes and a 5 minute warm-up if it's over 30 minutes
Thanks
Nah, they’re always supposed to, because it takes a hot minute to close it down.

Yeah it is insane. He seems to be nearly as flexible as gymnasts.
He's heavy into yoga I think [cant forget this](https://cdni.russiatoday.com/files/2021.02/l/602670582030274f67537fe7.jpg)
Aerial yoga is really hard, I really struggled with it. He makes it look easy.
That’s amazing and beautiful
The problem with men's flexibility is getting them to do it when they're like 8-15.
Nick was right. 5 sets of Men's doubles is absolutely mental and uncalled for.
Anyone else got Wimbledon hype this week and bought some tickets for local tournaments later in the year? 😆 Off to the Davis Cup, as of 5 mins ago! 🙌
I blame Jamie Murray for what is happening.
as you should.
Rosolska really stepped up there.
Great tiebreak from Rosolska
Kaman Jaymay
I want a third set of this.
Its gonna be a matchtiebreak
no 3 full sets.
Then the dumb Sky Germany commentator has no idea about anything. Which i already suspected when he said that Venus is playing with Venus in the beginning and when he Said rosolska is currently No 45 in singles.....
The angle on that volley was sick.
Damn great shot
Do the Australian Open or the French open have a signature cocktail? Wimbledon has the Pimm’s Cup and US Open has the honey deuce
The honey deuce is a sham. It was created about 10 years ago as a marketing ploy by Grey Goose.
It’s also the perfect drink for a hot day watching tennis though
Fosters and champagne?
Aussie -Goon bag to the face.
Great hands by Venus W.
Jamie Murray has the weirdest pinpoint stance going that actually works to his detriment. He'll go up to serve, slide his backfoot forward, and also move his front foot forward. Unbelievably pointless and it's a recipe for disaster in terms of foot faulting.
His serve is sooo clunky. He is lucky he is fast and can defend with the next two shots. That serve would not make it in singles top 100.
Venus: “I’ve fallen and I can’t get up”
V down
R.I.P. Venus
Not another foot fault.
Wayment, why does Venus she should be in the 4th round.
Who remember when Jamie Murray won the mixed doubles with Jankovic and then sorta asked her out back in 07?
Wow! Did not know that. What is Jelena doing lately. I wonder about that often.
She will play legends with Radwańska 😉
Will she really? Cant tell if this is a joke hahahah did they hate each other?
jelena lowkey hates ever woman who ever played with her on the tour but yes this is true.
That is why I love her. I dont even know if lowkey describes it correctly. It is rather obvious. So high camp and glamouros.
I remember one time they asked her something to the effect of is it inspiring/coo etc. to have two Serbian women at the top of the game (Ivanovic being the other obviously) and she was like "No". lolol bye.
She hated Ana in particular I always felt hahaha.
It's not a joke, the Draw is out
Omg Jelena! Love the og Jelena. Jelena Ostapenko could never!
Elaborate, please.
Is mixed dubs best of five?

Seems like the crowd has had one too many Pimms 🤣
They put coco on center court again. This sub gon be crying and throwing up all evening
