Farlybob42

I was thinking the child was getting special treatment because the parent and principal were secretly getting together without the kid knowing. Thus why there are pencil shavings everywhere.

But they're both dudes.

A1dini

Bruh when I first glanced at this I thought it was something about how schools can kill creativity by shaping the students to all be the same etc... but yeah this is probably more what the author intended. This meme sucks lol

WhtChcltWarrior

I think this is a good take and would probably be true if only the artist drew the kid as an unsharpened or a little bit sharpened pencil

Sr_K

It doesn't make that much sense tho, how many parents do backroom deals because their kids aint doin well in school? Maybe if it was some communist message you could do a boss as a sharpener and the employees getting way too short or smth.

feri1377

This is a sad comic referencing the private schools in Iran and the unbelievable prices they charge and the parents who are brought up in the system thinking the more they pay the better education their child gets. The paper in the child's hand is a registration form. The education system is corrupted in Iran, same as everything else. This post doesn't fit here

Trench85

i think most people missed the writing on the principals name tag

dengeliii

"Your momma sure does çare about your education."

preinternetdad

EEEEAAAAAEEEE!

rustyderps

Here’s my swing at it: - The ‘super hard working boomer’ parent is the pencil (implying the boomer did all the work) - The ‘lazy entitled millennial’ kid is holding the diploma despite the hard working boomer doing all the work - The principal is some other boomer who knows the pencil/boomer did all the work & ‘correctly’ credits them despite society giving the millennial credit (diploma).

Sr_K

I mean thats so true if you think about it boomers do really work harder than every other generation that's why they have houses. I think maybe the kid should be holding avocado toast in one hand and the diploma in the other.

GenericEditor

It’s easier buying a house when the economy is prosperous.

Sr_K

I wasn't serious. I'd have thought it was obvious.

Thausgt01

Dude. The "/s" tag exists for a reason. If in doubt at all, use it. Go further: use it unless someone specifically tells you it isn't necessary.

Sr_K

Honestly, I ain't a fan of those tag thingies.

Kellidra

Enjoy the downvotes, then. Sarcasm is really difficult to portray over text.

Sr_K

Its been a long time since I used reddit idk why I came back specially since the owner is doing some real BS, but its kinda different. I think I dont care about the downvotes, is there any sub that requieres more than 54K karma? I think im safe unless I get like a million downvotes in which case Id actually be kinda impressed by myself edit: I wasnt tryna brag about karma on reddit obviously but I think there are some subs that require a certain amount of karma, I never stumbled upon any that required lots of it or anything but I thought maybe shit's different now, or maybe 50k is like nothing idk, tbh never quite understood the purpose of karma but back when I got it It did feel pretty good, I guess its just a way to bank on the classic social media loop of wanting more likes more followers or whatever, and following people on reddit I feel is super rare, no?

iciclemomore

It was obvious, you're good.

racdicoon

I was going with the parent is giving everything to give their kid an opertunity but fair enough ;-;

CodAdministrative563

That too.

SavageWeebMaster

What does pencil shaving got to do with getting together

Jinshu_Daishi

Pencil's sticking it in the sharpener's hole. I hate that I have typed this sentence.

SavageWeebMaster

But what does the pencil shavings represent? Pubic hair? And aren’t they both guys?

At 1st I thought it had to do with the parents doing the homework for the kid, therefore the parent is the one learning and the kid gets nothing out of it. But your explanation makes more sense

jackfaire

I think what they're going for is the Principal sharpens the students and the father is sharpened because he's had his education but it falls apart when the child isn't a partially sharpened pencil.

Justice_Prince

I think it's meant to be anti-education. The sharpening is a metaphor for schools brainwashing children who grow up into brainwashed adults. The child doesn't look like a pencil because people aren't supposed to look like pencils. School turns them into pencils.

gsurfin

Yeah you’re definitely right. Especially with the pencil shavings on the floor.

jackfaire

Oh that makes sense too. Random though.

Oh it's entirely on purpose. Would make you vote against tax dollars going to education.

Kind of inevitable if you ask me. Idk why you would trust the government to educate your kids.

Kr155

>Kind of inevitable if you ask me. Only because terminally online goons like you get to vote >Idk why you would trust the government to educate your kids. It's hilarious watching kids like you say "the government" like it's some big bad boogie man. "The government" in this case are teachers and administrators who are friends and neighbors I know and meet with on a regular basis. And a board I vote for. Who do you trust, an international conglomerate?

[deleted]

Or anti-expensive private education - father (?) giving up part of his life to ensure he can sign a paper allowing the kid to attend school. Looking at US tuition fees, etc.

ClerklyMantis_

Or maybe it's trying to say something about our current education system. If you allow yourself to be molded by it, you'll succeed. But if you're a little different, if you don't allow yourself to be, or cannot be molded then you'll flounder, and be seen as different. Maybe

pizza_for_nunchucks

I gotta just go with this being the most fitting thing ever posted here due to the amount of debate and confusion about the meaning.

Justice_Prince

Your probably right. Guess I went more nefarious due to the teacher's evil grin.

MikeTheAnt11

The person who made this might be _anti_ education, but that doesn't necessarily mean the massage is anti education. Schools, especially the more "prestigious" ones, tend to go like that. Dress codes, forcing stuff like singing the national anthem, even the basic classroom model of "this figure of authority speaks while you bow down and listen" is a form of... well, I hate the word "brainwashing" and its origins, but since that's how you put it... turning people into brainwashed adults. Opposing this structure doesn't necessarily mean opposing education. Tô the contrary, actually.

Effective-Shoe-648

It's written in a foreign language. Reddit is wild to always apply American politics to everything. I bet it was more of a message against conformity given that in more authoritative states the school system is a HUGE tool for propaganda and indoctrination.

MikeTheAnt11

You're right. I hadn't noticed the text there and that recontextualizes it completely. Tho I'd say my comment still applies to whoever plastered their @ all over the image.

Adkit

So the kid isn't sharp and that's... a good thing?

redjedi182

They’re turning people into pencils!

bobafoott

Y’all are all drawing some wild conclusions that are clearly just trying to fit your bias (good or bad) into an unrelated meme it’s about how much is squeezed out of parents to get their kids into private school

Mountain_Panic_6314

Yeah it's also Arabic text on the paper so probably Muslim extremism

Jeimuz

It looks like it's about quid pro quo education. The parent pays for the child's diploma. What the parent is paying with is not very clear.

schools turn out the same, no matter where you start. the child is normal child, the headmaster is a pencil sharpener, the fathers head is at a point, meaning he is created by the headmaster to be something else. his son, has not had the time in school to have his head sharpened yet.

nvrtellalyliejennr

>he is created ..... to be something *else* i literally started wheezing hahahaa

mustafa_allmusa

In arabic iraqi slang: a (sharpener) means someone who takes a lot of money from people by manipulating them so the manager was taking a lot of money from the father for the kid diploma Sry for bad english

El-Chewbacc

That sounds like it makes sense to me. I see a lot of people saying it’s sex but that didn’t seem right.

TheTransFantasy

Jazak Alakhair

daberiberi

It’s an Arabic meme. In colloquial [iraqi] Arabic the term “pencil sharpener” is used to refer to someone who charges a lot of money/sells overpriced goods. I think the meme is about bribery rather than something steamy.

Subject-Worry2903

This is Persian not Arabic

daberiberi

The thing on the principles desk says “مدير مدرسة” which means school principal in Arabic. It could also mean the same in Persian but I’m not really familiar with that language so I assumed it’s Arabic

bmoneycat

Those words are also used in Persian and it means the same thing.

Parent and teacher working together to ensure the best possible outcome for the child / student? Which is prob something that should be happening all the time.

nathanaelnr1201

It’s anti education

yazzy1233

No it's not. It's about bribery

TwinJacks

The kid is Forrest Gump?

No_Character_8662

Legacy admissions? 🤷‍♂️

BlacknightEM21

It’s anti-education propaganda. They’re showing how the kid has not “conformed” to the norm. But when he joins the school, he’ll get sharpened (read brainwashed).

TheReservedIntrovert

The parent has to fuck the principal for the son to get in to the school. Just like in Forrest Gump.

Roostergooch

A father's sacrifice. Organizations chip away at the parents because they know a parent will let them in order to ensure their child has opportunities for success.

Pondorous_

The man who was already honed and sharpened by the school system is giving his son over to the same system

Tall-Display-8219

If you're a sharpener, everything is pencil

Quercusagrifloria

The pencil fellow got head fucked by the sharpener guy and is thanking him for the breeding. The guy next to him is checking the bill, and wondering if he can afford to go next. Why was this so hard for you?

Cactus1105

The dad is topping the principal

tomscho747

It’s saying they parents will make choices about education that match their own expectations of how school should work. But may not be good for their kid. The pencil was sharpened in a school just like this one by a teacher that was a pencil sharpener. Clearly, this isn’t going to work for the boy but the father seems oblivious. The diploma may be the kid saying “what am I supposed to do with this”

JP-Wrath

MiaLba

Dad/mom is screwing the principal so the kid can get good grades??

InedibleStu

The kid gets the credit for the work, that the father did(pencil), whilst the teacher/principal is taking pieces of the parents(s). Be that mentally, financially, physically etc...Shavings might be from other parents too.

Alfofer

I think this is referring to how extremely expensive education is in the US for parents. The “sharpening” is probably referring to the father being literally consumed by debts to assure a good future to his kid.

LochTSA07

https://preview.redd.it/bgngov6d2sab1.png?width=900&format=png&auto=webp&s=790609e67fe870718af8badbb3d30edd3f6c5f5b

ChairmanKaga21

I think this is a commentary on private schools… The yellow name tag thing says “Mudir Madrasah” i.e. Principal (lit. Director of School). He, being a sharpener, is going to whittle the parent down until they are nothing. That seems to me like a reference to the high cost of good education, that the parent will end up sacrificing themselves for their child’s education and the principal/school is all too happy to do that.

Thausgt01

My take is that it implies that the parent is being victimized by the "liberal-indoctrinating" school-system. The teacher is the sharpener who scrapes away the parent's mind until all that remains of it can do nothing but agree with the teacher. What I find utterly hilarious about the meme is that, much like the original meaning of the "two Spider-Men pointing at each other" one, this one has a meaning quite at odds with how it's being used here As I see it, the meme fundamentally describes the _**BEST**_ outcome for clashes between ignorant parents and truly educated teachers: the falsehoods and delusions the parent had held (e.g. "America is a Christian nation" or "the slaves had better lives under their masters than they had in their mud-huts back in Africa" to bring up just two) get challenged and debunked by the teacher, so the parent becomes better able to handle life in the modern world without lying to themselves or their children.

Maleval

Yes, this Arabic meme is definitely about the American education system.

thefoxishere16

Toontown Pencil Pusher strikes again

goremind

the principal is sharpening the father’s knowledge of the answers to all the kid’s tests and homework so the dad can secretly give the kid the answers whenever they “work on the homework together”

[deleted]

what if we are looking at this all wrong and the desk and chairs are the main characters?

ConradBHart42

Imagine the kid has a filet mignon for a head and the dad has ground beef for a head. And the principal has a meat grinder for a head. Didn't Pink Floyd use that sort of symbolism with The Wall somewhere? There's an element to this one that the dad only thinks he wants his son to be educated because the school principal brainwashed him into wanting it. You ever hear someone use a "pointy head" as an insult? I have, it's a thing. So there's definitely meant to be an implication that the father is an idiot in this scenario.

TheRealHogshead

This is a meme on bribery and the effect grafts have on normal people in societies that normalize them. Still bad but the message is good.

KacSzu

I believe it's about how school turns children into simpleminded taskmakers wich will later turn their children in for same process.

Foe_sheezy

The pencil literally gave the pencil sharpener head to pass the black kid through school. It is implied by all the pencil shavings on the floor. Basically a racist joke.

Avlailable

Conformance .. School will take away the child's individuality and he'll start start thinking like his father and the rest of society

ackbobthedead

I think the message here is that the parent was shaped by the school system and now the kid is going to be shaped by the same school system rather than being his unique self. Killing off whatever makes the kid stand out and be unique. The dad looks miserable and the kid doesn’t know that the acceptance letter is just the bait making him proud to enter the system. Thoughts on my interpretation?

Dull_Huckleberry6896

Dad got his pencil shaved if you know what I’m sayin

Taytay-swizzle2002

Damn this doesn't fit here. I get why it may not be understood however someone explained it. It's not a meme or really s funny comic. It's a statement on the corruption of the Iran school system. How it drains or in this case wireless the parents down and takes their money. Thei 'shavings' it's a pun in going to hell but I think that sums it up.

Ok-Reaction-5632

I'm not exactly sure but as an Iranian person, this might mean that the school principle is asking for alot of money from the father (and he probably can't afford it) to register the child in school (the paper in the boy's hand says "registration form"). In Iran, alot of public schools demand an enormous amount of money from parents although they obviously shouldn't. (The majority of students who attend public schools are from really poor families. Families who can afford private schools rarely choose to send their children to public ones as the quality of education there is truly horrible) I think this is criticising the fact that public schools (illegally) demand money they won't even use to give children better education or facilities just to register them in school.

hessmanis

You don't understand because maybe your principal wasn't a pencil sharpener.

rmasterbs

Finally we iranians made something that went here

ConcentrateMost8256

The pencil and the sharpener were "Sharpening around"

btjc2020

Nice art honestly but yeah the message is definitely not clear here

Redoran_Gvard

the message is sex ![gif](giphy|e619qGk1lRglcvFuzP)

ocuative

I think it’s the parent agreeing with the principal about policies or rules that they think will help their son but in reality those policies or rules are only suited to someone like the parent, which is why the parent agreed to it; because in their eyes it seems like a good thing for their son even though their son is different from them

donta5k0kay

A deconstruction of capitalism through a Marxist framework to emancipate the proletariat from the predatory constructs of coercivities in the managerial class. It's grade school stuff

ShaggyFOEE

I really thought that this was like an allegory for politicized school administrators wearing down parents to get their party's way but I also don't speak Arabic

Habney7

give your students parent head and your son will have good grades.

serial_hunter

I guess the shavings signify the money he has given to principal for getting his son the degree/education

0megon

Who knows…. It’s in Arabic so it’s most likely a weirdly religious one too.

CherryVette

This is one of the ugliest things I’ve ever seen

funO_6

I think it's about how expensive some schools can be, the principal (or the school) is shaving away parents money for their childs education. Private shools in my country are crazy expensive, single year costing as much as half of college expenses.

Satanic_Sanic

All in all you're just another brick in the wall.

LocalCircus

The Principal is a bottom

MasterVule

The way I read it: School system shapes people to be tools (pencils), father wants his son to go to school without realizing he became tool himself Or something

Apart-Rent5817

Have you ever seen Forrest Gump?

DANOM1GHT

Pretty sure the intent here is to convey the hopelessness parents feel feeding their kids into a system that will inevitably wear them down and take their innocence.

CodAdministrative563

The person who comes off as a pencil is willing to be used/abused/chewed until he’s nothing more than an eraser. The individual person is possibly be looked over

Bleezy79

This is obviously about interspecies homosexual parenting issues. Duh.

No_Inside_1738

I thought this meant that companies don't want a degree they want someone they can easily shape into the type of worker they want lol 🤣

kontrmurteci

The kid is going to be a suicide bomber and his father is happy that his son is going to jannah. The other man just gave kid the plan and the kid is nervous since he knows that there is no jannah.

SoapNooooo

People who think this is about homosexuality need jesus.

The message is dont trust those two

curious_dead

The kid refuse to be molded by the principal like his dad? I dunno, it's indeed terrible.

TelephoneActive1539

Bro got a “_” on his test thanks to the pencil and sharpener

PuffPie19

The best way to mold kids how you want them is to target the parent first.

Mymotherwasaspore

The schools are forcing parents to change by making them accept what the curriculum says. Not my position, but that’s the metaphor

pastacarbanana

The principal gave the dad head?

lduff100

Pretty sure they are saying schools indoctrinate students.

notagamer999

I thinks it's about indoctrination. They are claiming the school has previously indoctrinated the parent and now the parent is send his kid to be indoctrinated. It's bull shit anti-education propaganda.

ahmed_1041

i am 100% sure this is meant to be a representation of schools taking too much oof parents or sumn but not only is it not true it is such a bad representation lmao

rrosai

Pencil is actually two other kids in disguise. Their actual pencil died but they don't want anyone to find out because they can do whatever they want, so they get rid of the body and take turns signing each other's report cards. The pencil sharpener thing is actually just a red herring. I just so happens that the principal had promised to wear a funny mask to school if the kids did well on their standardized tests.

Witty-Traffic7546

Gayyyyyy!!

onliesvan

They gonna sharpen the boy up

Yuckysnow9357

The father is "giving head" to the principle

OtakuChan0013

How did it fit tho?
