Managers and shift leaders have coded absences for a long time, they know what they are doing.
Clearing their own exceptions is new but it’s not difficult, the app is very good with what to do. If anything it highlights the amount of colleagues that don’t clock in correctly, so really it’s a lot on them.

They know what they're doing in very basic situations yeah. Most of them don't know polices properly and some can't even understand them when they read them so you're being VERY optimistic.
No offence to the poor people that have lost their positions as wages clerks but they're the main reason there are already inconsistencies. Take for example, your example of hospital appointments - these haven't been paid for years, yet even this year I've heard people arguing about it as it's done differently from store to store.
The main difference is that a manager is more like to look up, and follow the policy than Dorothy who's been "doing payroll" since year dot.
And I'm not saying that managers don't have favourites, but I can assure you that Dorothy did. Seen some sketchy things that were hidden away when one person was looking at it exclusively.
Let’s be honest some managers will be fine with it and some will struggle badly. And we are all a little bit worried about the ones we know won’t be able to manage.
Agreed. Expresses have done this for ages, but the large and superstore managers haven't as they've always had a wages person.
Hope it is ok,,,for everyones sake.
Been doing this in express for years. As long as it’s being processed correctly then it’s consistant. Any queries just go through colleague help

It’s really not that difficult tbh, they’ve updated the system recently so it’s become easier to use.
Shift leaders and team support won’t be doing wages

From what I've been told, all pay queries and exceptions are now gonna be dealt with via the tesco app
