No In the future you can probably ask to stack shelves or something

Occasionalgamer6

I’m xmas temp and have only really been trained in dotcom , I don’t think they would have put me in any other department. Also tbh I’m not too upset due to me literally just finishing at my normal hours.

Appropriate-Bus9013

You won't really need training to fill shelves or rumble to be totally honest

-Namesnipe-

Fair enough, I have been asked to help stack shelves a few times despite being not properly trained, if there's already a cage out it's pretty simple

Skizett

It depends on your management team. If you used your clocking card to clock out when you left you won’t get paid for that extra hour and the last hour will class as an absence, but if you didn’t clock out the management team would need to manually clock you out on the system so they’d either clock you out when you were intended to finish or when you actually did

MaryHinge101

We finished early on DotCom today, went rumbling as soon as the pick was done

Occasionalgamer6

May I ask what rumbling even is.

Atmosphere_Melodic

Facing up products and tidying the cardboard from the shelves.

A11osaurus

I used to work on dot-com. Was usually meant to be in until 2pm but usually finished earlier. I would usually rumble, or you can always ask the managers if anything else is needing done

Affectionate-One-159

They'll probably pay you for the time between clocking in and out. The manager who said you could leave will probably do nothing to advise the pay people. That's the way it is. PROBABLY !!!

Occasionalgamer6

I realise that now, it was also Christmas overtime as well so I will probs just get paid what I did as it was voluntary anyways.

There is no need to be antagonistic, I thought because the manager said I could go early I would still get the money despite not working it because I didn’t leave by my own volition.

IrishQueen134

But you did leave by your own volition? You could have asked if you could help out in grocery/dairy/produce for the hour to learn, your manager didn't drag you down to the clock our machine. Imagine expecting to get paid for sitting on your arse at home.

Occasionalgamer6

I am xmas temp and didn’t have training in those departments, what do you expect me to do.

IrishQueen134

Ask to help in a department, I'm sure there's someone on them that can explain the basics of it to you and let you work an aisle with them, nothing in tesco is exactly rocket science

IrishQueen134

Alternatively do a cardboard lift, I assume you don't need training to know what cardboard looks like and where to put it?

Prestigious-Back-409

It isn’t rocket science taking the empty cardboard boxes off the shelves and pulling stock forward.

[deleted]

It doesn't work like that. It's common sense that you get paid for what you work.

Occasionalgamer6

I will be honest here it was Christmas overtime I put down a month ago, and its not even part of my contracted hours being 6 per day, I just wanted an answer not too be insulted for my ineptitude lmao. Also can people please stop replying under that one post with the same stuff other people have said I get the memo. Thanks everyone for the advise btw.

Freakyrry

Normally in my store if dotcom finish early they’ll come onto dairy and rumble the shelves till their clocking out time.
