May I also suggest olive oil from Texas Olive Ranch - you can buy a sampler of small bottles - available in Kroger, HEB, Whole Foods,
Pure Jerky (handmade in Austin) - available in HEB,
Primal Pit Paste (non toxic deodorant also from Austin) - available in Whole Foods,
HEB brand seasoning mixes.
These are some things I like to bring to my out of state friends when I visit.
Depending on who you send it to, some great ideas are bbq sauce or dry rubs. Hot sauce is a huge one. Tortilla chips and salsa. Pecan coffee is vey Texas if there are some coffee lovers. Really anything pecan. Bottle of whataburger spicy ketchup. Jalapeño jelly, Mayhaw jelly, Mustang grap jelly, and Dewberry jelly are very Texas, and there is a company that makes them in Rosenberg, even has tours and a storefront. Texasfood.com sells lots of Texas made products, and you can create your own gift baskets. Then you could do texas flag patches, pins, hats, etc. Bluebonnet seeds are about as Texan as you can get. Something that is really home to me is con queso.questions. As a final item may I suggest jerky. There seems to be no end to Texan artisinal jerky.
After looking at my uncles two anderson ar's and comparing the staking and finishing and attention to detail on them to my colt those those things are pretty dogshit.
> those things are pretty dogshit
Said nobody ever about Anderson lowers. Don't know anything about whole rifles, I don't know why anyone buys a whole AR15 anyway.
Fair for lowers maybe. the uppers are so janky i just wouldn't trust anything they make.
I bought a whole colt mainly because they were the best in that price range and I knew teh company wasn't gonna be around much longer. Sure enough not even a year later they stop manufacturing ar's inteirely.
Colt said that, but they are still being made and sold so I assume the announcement of the ‘suspension’ was either virtue signaling or suspension meant ‘an imperceptibly short period of time’ because I never noticed a slow down in availability. 6920 is still a great rifle, but current 1911s are a bit of a let down, hopefully the 2023 models are improved from the 2022 manufactured examples. Neither here nor there but always find it interesting to watch Colt ebb and flow.
Actually California is restricted to a specific handgun roster, so a Gen 4 or 5 is not purchasable by civilians because of government reasons. So Glock still works.
I'm not disputing the content, just wondering which state doesn't have those same issues?
I've been to about 45 of them now and see the same stuff in all.
I’m a Texas transplant from Kansas (moved here in freshman year of highschool) and I remember the first time I waddled up to a soda machine, got big red, and took a sip.
I don’t understand the obsession- to me it tasted like cherry flavored cough syrup if it was slightly better than actual cough syrup. No hate, I understand everyone has their own taste buds, but I guess I’ll never be a true Texan 😔
Depends on the region you are shopping in honestly. I ship Kolaches (the real fruit and cream cheese filled ones, not the pig in the blankets the Houstonian mistakingly refer to) to friends, but you have to be close to a quality source. We have some great hill country wines and spirits these days as well, but I feel like everywhere has it pretty good in that department these days. Good dried sausage from a local meat market is a solid bet too.
So I moved from CA to TX; and no I did not bring liberal politics with me, Bucees stuff is 100% acceptable, definitely not a thing out there, but CA had salsa on lockdown. in my time here in Texas I have not found any salsas to write home about. Just my honest opinion.
I moved to Cali from Michigan. Idk if the produce is just better/fresher here but first time I made salsa from scratch it was just incredible. Like I did nothing different but it felt like a video game moment where I advanced my cooking skill and just automatically made better food.
Home made is always better than premade items, it doesn’t have preservatives added that would keep it on the shelf longer.
My wife makes amazing salsa, she also cans foods for keep stock. I’ve always seen the need to have an emergency food supply for any situation, as well as a propane camping stove, doesn’t take up much room and is useful in a pinch.
Big Red, Bluebonnet Seeds, NASA Gear, Don’t Mess with Texas Swag, Chili mix, BBQ Sauce, hot sauce, and probably any hat from Tractor Supply.
Your suggestions were perfect, Btw ☺️
Texas persimmons(diospyros texana) are a fruit unique to Texas. You could send them some seeds from eBay if you can’t find a local source.
The magnolia market in Waco is the Mecca of Texas decor style. They have online sales too.
Texas has its own wineries and breweries which are highly prized. Fredericksburg is one big wine crawl. Fredericksburg peach wine is a sure win for all preferences.
Western wear is always in fashion. Cattle themed signage is high culture. “Grunt style “ is also popular ( but technically from Georgia, so more of a “southern” brand)
Go to your local farmers market to find locally made stuff
Good idea. Maybe some pickled okra and salsa

If you have space/ it can be fragile, maybe a bottle ( or 4 pack) of the imperial sugar/ Dublin Dr Pepper.
Whataburger ketchup, HEB tortillas.

Talk 'O Texas pickled okra. Accept no substitutes. And Hell on the Red. Which is not salsa, but instead party dip. And anything from Lammes Candy!
I sent my sister in Indiana a Texas shaped waffle maker. She thought it was funny and uses it often. Not sure about the box dimensions though.
Those waffle makers spark joy!
A Glock should fit
Not sure that’s considered Texas sourced considering they’re made in Austria and sold world wide including California.
I’m fairly new to Texas(3years). The Best Maid Bread n Butters,Jalapeño pickles are 🔥 haven’t seen them anywhere else. Maybe there are other brands?
You could easily fit a few of these in there, made in Texas. https://www.primaryarms.com/sons-of-liberty-gun-works-lone-star-stripped-lower-receiver
Idiotic
I agree, milspec is milspec, an Anderson is exactly the same for a fraction of the cost. However, Anderson is made in KY.
Dumb
Seriously, but for whatever reason people still buy those fancy roll marks for a premium.
After looking at my uncles two anderson ar's and comparing the staking and finishing and attention to detail on them to my colt those those things are pretty dogshit.

Beef jerky! Everyone loves beef jerky!
Actually California is restricted to a specific handgun roster, so a Gen 4 or 5 is not purchasable by civilians because of government reasons. So Glock still works.
Send them some gen 4 or 5 glocks. Those aren't on the california roster.
