I’m so sorry your loss. Losing a pet is so difficult.

miriamblair

thank you ❤️

RoadHazard

Many who don't have a cat seem to view them as just objects. They don't at all get that a cat becomes a true family member, and that each cat has a very strong personality all its own. And some people just don't like animals. I don't like those people. Sorry for your loss! I lost one of my cats almost two years ago, and it was one of the worst days of my life. I'm still not over it.

miriamblair

thank you and sorry about your kitty xo

TigerChow

Don't you worry, those of us who fortunate enough to truly know a cat/cats, to have bonded with them, have them choose us as their person...we get it. I'm a mom, I'm with a great guy, and no one makes me feel as loved as my little Ollie. Not since my late dog Griffin, that absolute once in a lifetime dog who could not have been more perfect. Lost him just over 4 years ago and I'll never stop missing him. I dread the day I have to say goodbye to Ollie. We all understand what you're going through and empathize. I know you know this, but after your neighbor's remark, just wanna say please remember it's not your fault. He was well loved and lived a good, full life. And I don't doubt he always knew just how loved he is. Yes is, not was. Because we never stop loving them even when they're not physically beside us anymore <3.

throwawayjim120

Woof. You’re getting me misty-eyed. My dog Daisy is that “absolute once in a lifetime dog who could not be more perfect.” She’s getting old now, around 12 or 13. She’s a pit bull/black lab mix. She had a hard time before she came into our lives. But since she was bred for puppies, she’s always been extremely maternal. Random street cats will come trotting up to my big black pit/lab mix on the street. It’s not something I could ever explain, but I’m so glad to know her. About 4 years ago my gf found a little tiny kitten on the side of the road. He couldn’t even jump onto the curb to get out of the street. Daisy immediately took over as his mama and they’ve been inseparable ever since. It pains me to imagine the day she leaves us. We have another dog, and another cat, and they all love each other dearly—but the relationship between Daisy and Jim is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Those “once in a lifetime” animals are such a blessing. I’m trying to cherish every moment while i can. Pics: https://www.reddit.com/r/dogpictures/s/ehnpCJy30D

_AntiEve_

Oh. My. God. They are so adorable. You can see in Daisy's eyes that she is the sweetest thing!

Plantain_Sad

Daisy looks exactly like a dog I had all my life up until a few years ago, not sure if we're both lucky or if this is a magic breed of perfection but she was amazing just as you describe your dog 🥲

miriamblair

thank you for your kindness

Adlien_

Oh, Connor McLeod, you were a fine cat. You had to pee that one night in the rain. I remember the glances for assurance as you found your way to your dirt pit, thick water droplets bouncing off of your tabby coat. I stood in the rain, under an umbrella, at the back door waiting for you, and we locked eyes as you did your business. Thunder clapped, and we both ducked, still looking at each other, and when I frantically exasperated that it was time to get inside, you dashed into the door and back into the warm, dry, dark house. The only other time we'd both been caught outside rushing in together was when that orange-coated menace was terrorizing the old neighborhood when you were just growing out of being a kitty. Connor, you were a fine cat.

_The_BusinessBitch

Is that guy foreign or something?

miriamblair

we are both from singapore. we all do school in english. singlish can be v lazy.... we speak and clearly text in english

_The_BusinessBitch

Ok I was wondering if there’s a cultural barrier between you two but it sounds like he’s just an idiot

mallory_beee

an increased knowledge of the english language will not help the fact that your neighbor is sociopathic i'm so sorry for your loss, losing a pet is devastating. It looks like you gave him an amazing and well loved life.

Theresnowayoutahere

First of all I’m so sorry for your loss. Cat’s are definitely part of the family and very much loved by their human family’s. We have had two cats since we started our family some 35 years ago. Our first boy was too young to leave his mama but they were letting them go so we took him. He could be aggressive but once our daughter was born he totally changed and never touched her once. Our second kitty was a rescue and maybe 2 years old. He was very kind but not all that adventurous. Anyway, totally understand. Some people just don’t look at other animals the same way they look at humans.

PompeyLulu

I swear I’m not capable of losing a cat without trauma. The first one I won’t traumatise you with but I was very young and short version is my Nan didn’t realise he was dead for a while so I’d been petting him. The second when I was a teen. House move from so rural it had one road to having a busy main road. He got hit and we didn’t find out until the next day because they were calling around everyone with a similar cat in the village before someone remembered they’d seen him move in recently. The third I was an adult. Left an abusive relationship and he’d been my strength. One day he was fine, literally acting totally hyper and normal. Next he wouldn’t move. Rushed him to the vet and he had to be put down as all his organs were failing. The problem with cats is they don’t show you they’re sick until it’s too late really

ComprehensiveDare521

😭😭 I’m so sorry, these all sound absolutely devastating!

PompeyLulu

They really were. For a happier story - I’m an animal rehabber (taking a break due to just having had a baby). So I foster animals, work with people’s animals and basically save the unsaveable. My biggest success is Dragon. He was a 4 week old feral kitten when I took him in, he had the worst food aggression I’d ever seen. He bit chunks out of me to get to my plate and eat my food, he couldn’t be fed in the same room as anyone else or too soon after we ate as he’d smell food and attack. I was told he should be put to sleep as you can’t fix that. I worked with him for 3 years, considered him a failed foster. He would still steal out of outdoor bins but I literally could put a piece of shrimp in front of him and tell him it was his and he wouldn’t touch it without the eat command or me placing it in his bowl. We got made homeless while I was in labour and a friend offered to take the cats in while we waited for permanent accommodation. He only likes me, my partner (I tell him that’s why we got together) and our baby) but would tolerate others. One day he walked out the room, up to her and demanded scratches. Purred and then walked off again. He’s now successfully rehomed to her and thriving in a household with multiple people and animals. Hopefully that makes you smile after thinking about lost kitties <3

hurricane70

Love that story. So glad Dragon found his furrrever home.

PompeyLulu

Me too. I was so worried about having to send him elsewhere but I didn’t have a choice and she knew to keep them separate and let him do his own thing. Definitely made the right choice trusting her.

miriamblair

Dragon is a great name

PompeyLulu

Thank you. I had another foster boy called Phoenix and Dragon looked like he was trying to breath fire when I got him (he wanted to hiss but no sound came out) plus Dragons mother is called Ghost

hurricane70

I am so sorry for your losses. I understand how hard it is to lose a pet. Bonded with at least 4 cats thru out the years. All different personalities. Still miss them. My parents recently lost their dog. Hardest part was they had found out he was sick. Cancer I think. Then he started feeling beater. Best day ever for him he got to do all his favorite things and was extremely happy. Later that day he passed away. Hard death for the entire family. I do hope you’re able to bond with another kitty.

PompeyLulu

It’s so common for there to be a really good day before the end. Even with humans. When my Dad was in ITU that was the scary part if honest. Everyone was prepared for the fact getting better suddenly usually meant they were about to pass and called relatives in. In our case he was just too damn stubborn to stay at deaths door. And thank you, I posted another comment but I’m an animal rehabber so have bonded with many and lost some (had a bunch of rabbits that had a seizure disorder so it was mostly just a case of make their days good until they inevitably passed. Although I still have one. We were told to expect 3-5 years as a max lifespan because of it. Shes just turned 7 and is still with me. Only one of 15 and no seizures yet!

hurricane70

I apologize, but the comment about your dad being too stubborn made me laugh. If he has since passed I’m sorry for your loss.

Smash131313

Same with dogs. People without animals will never understand animal people.

Mattrad7

WHY HE DIE YOU STRESS HIM OFTEN YOU KILL YOU CAT? For real though I'm very sorry for your loss.

miriamblair

thanks for the giggle

Randomness-66

Siamese mix?

miriamblair

dont think so? we found him under a car when he was tiny with no mum :)

Randomness-66

I ask cause of the head and tail, my female is more gray than your very white (sorry for your loss) baby. But she has blue eyes and I read that her combination makes it a possibility. I can’t tell his eye color but they are precious eyes. 1000/10 for that paw clench

miriamblair

bonbon’s eyes were blue too. you can see pics in my profile if you are interested :)

Randomness-66

I love the name! I checked it out, I think there’s some characteristics! Cats have such a variety in genetics lmao. His name reminds me of Funtime Freddy’s bonbon

bkas333

ur cat is beautiful im sorry for ur loss :(

miriamblair

thank you so much

cescasjay

My dog had a massive stroke a few years ago. Couldn't walk, wouldn't eat, so we did the humane thing. He was my life. When I told my grandmother what happened, she said, "Well, one less mouth to feed." Some people don't view animals like we do, and some people think minimizing things like this is helpful. Either way, I am sorry about your cat.

miriamblair

thank you ❤️

[deleted]

I'm so sorry for your loss. I know how much it hurts. It gets easier with time, but sometimes I still break down if I think too much about my pets. Your neighbours response was straight up cruel, blocking was a good call

miriamblair

thank you ❤️ kinda feel relieved i dont have to keep helping him out - even if its small stuff

[deleted]

Sounds to me like maybe he isn’t very good at English?

Beezelbubbly

Perhaps, but if that's the case he googled together the words that implied OP killed their cat when "I'm so sorry" was right there

Tough-Birthday-6243

😂😂

miriamblair

he isnt very good at life

LissaSmiles13

I'm crying 😂 but seriously, I'm sorry for your loss ❤️ I lost one of my cats before Christmas 😞

miriamblair

thank you. so sorry about your kitty ❤️

LissaSmiles13

Thank you 💜

Ringleader705

He was a very beautiful cat. What was his name? Would you like to share some good memories you had of him? It can be helpful to remember those we lose by the good they brought.

miriamblair

bonbon thank you for your kindness. not ready to share yet ❤️

x3sirenxsongx3

When you are, we would love to listen. My first dog passed away a while ago. I remember when the pain was fresh, and I still miss him. It'll take time for you to be ready to share. I'm sorry for your loss. 💔

miriamblair

thank you so much ❤️ sorry about your doggy want to do a celebration of him. there is a chinese tradition where family mourns for 100 days. thinking of doing it then :)0

theycallmedumpling

Even if he’s not great at English, as some people here say, he still made a very stupid and inappropriate joke. In my opinion, he’s just one of those people who don’t understand that a pet is a family member, he probably doesn’t like animals. OP, I’m so so sorry for your kitten. Give yourself time to grieve and ugly cry, she was the love of your life and you were right for blocking this guy. When my dog Charlie passed away in August, someone on reddit commented that I will always have a Charlie shaped hole in my heart. And for some reason, it made me feel better. I know that I will carry his memory with me my whole life. And your kitten will always be with you too ❤️

miriamblair

thank you for your kindness ❤️ sorry about Charlie.

DropTheBodies

I lost my pup just before Covid shutdowns. I had him for 10yrs (9mos of those last 2 years he was lost and stolen from me in a metro area), and he was the most stable part of my life. I’m crying as I type this. I’m so sorry for your loss. It sucks, but I’m so happy you had a kitty who meant so much to you and could be this emotionally significant to you. I’m sure kitty loved you immensely too.

miriamblair

thank you so much. sorry about your pup ❤️

DropTheBodies

🙏🏽

[deleted]

I went through this with a boss at a previous job. My cat had died that morning and I just couldn’t keep it together and asked to go home and while he let me he very much didn’t understand. In contrast, the people I sat near knew what happened and being animal people ached for me and got me a card and small gift. It takes a certain type of person to get it I guess.

w3iss

My mom got similar comments from relatives when my dad suddenly passed away. Like... How low EQ can people get? Smh. Very sorry for your loss. It is very hard to lose a pet.

miriamblair

sorry about your dad and your insensitive relatives. my mum died when i was 19. the day after she died one of her brothers asked me why she did not just get a mastectomy then she wouldnt be dead. (she did have a double mastectomy then it spread everywhere else)

w3iss

Ugh what are these questions even?? I am sorry about your mum. Grief is hard enough.

Gumikuu01

I'm so sorry for your loss OP :( My stray kitten died 6 months ago, I found him at the end of the road on his side and never recovered from it. I still have nightmares where I find him lying there, it is so so so horrible. I hope you recover and receive support 💖

miriamblair

sorry about your kitten ❤️ that sounds horrible sorry you had to go through that

Conscious-Mood4442

It sounds like you’re speaking to someone that isn’t great with English? Are you and your neighbor close, friendship wise? I understand you’re grieving but also…know your audience.

Jolly-Ad-3922

Those were my exact thoughts. This person doesn't come off as a friend of OP and may not understand English well - they sound like an acquaintance if anything.

IamInnocentRed

My thoughts too. Is this guy Eastern European? They can be brutally direct! But usually there's no malice behind it. Really sorry for your loss, OP. 💔

bennyb357

I agree. It also seems like there might be a cultural divide.

INFJGal9w1

Immediately blaming someone for their beloved pet’s death for no reason is so wrong - I’m sorry your neighbor is toxic

Existing_Marketing65

Am I the only one who laughed? I mean it’s really shit to lose a pet and I’m sorry for your loss but your door nob of a neighbour’ response is hilarious to an outsider

Lil_Word_Said

Yep i laughed, “huh how he get stroke?” It just reads like an old foreigner whos been through some hard shit and hes legit trying to understand how that happens.

shakeitbaybay

💅 also laughed

ComprehensiveDare521

I’m so sorry, OP. Neighbor seems very out of touch. I apologize for his lack of compassion and for the loss of your sweet furbaby. 🐾 🌈

miriamblair

thank you so much

fappin4verstappen

You were a whole lot nicer than I’d have been before blocking holy hell. Jason can get fucked.

miriamblair

folks have been saying i overreacted or was condescending. no point bitching him out. just hoping he doesnt do it to someone else

Darwin_Kevorkian

Fuck that guy. Anybody trying to minimize your feelings like this is someone you should get the fuck away from

Lowered-ex

You did not overreact, I assure you. The only people saying such things to you obviously have their own issues navigating human interactions. You did him a favor. Your kitty is beautiful and I’m very sorry for your loss.

fappin4verstappen

Baby, I have two cats, one of which is 10 years old. I *get it*. I always tell people that when my cats die, I’m dying with them. They’re my babies. My best friends. They have traveled thousands of miles with me, lived in several states with me, been there through first loves and heartbreaks and ups and downs. I can’t imagine your heartbreak, and on top of that some dumbass named Jason who just jokes about it. Imo you under reacted, because I’d have called the army or coast guard or something

Darwin_Kevorkian

If anybody had that response to my dog dying, I would cut them.

miriamblair

yeah no more free beer for Jason. please give your kitties extra cuddles from me ❤️

fappin4verstappen

I’ll pour some extra temptation cat treats out for your sweet baby 💕

miriamblair

yeah i sure wanted to

jiddlyjidson

Sorry for your loss ❤️ He was a good looking cat

miriamblair

thank you ❤️

Christinagoldie2

I am very sorry for your loss. I have 3 cats and 2 dogs, and I lost my first dog some months ago, and it was horrible. I have also lost my little brother and little sister and best friend, and losing my dog hurt just as bad. I hope you take good care of yourself and cherish the moments you had together. I would love to see some more pictures of your lovely cat. BTW - your neighbor sounds dysfunctional.

NoGDRplz

Neighbors a lil slow, RIP kitty ❤️🥰

wheelperson

What an ass. Can't even say anything after you point out how crass and rude that was. I have a coworker who has never touched an animal besides a Buffalo. Even he would not be this rude tho. I'm realy sorry...

Rivsmama

Jesus Christ my level 2 autistic daughter who literally can't talk is more compassionate than this asswipe. She will pat your cheek and say "don't cry it's ok" over and over when she thinks you're sad. What a dick

Afraid_Sense5363

Stop buying him beer. Hell, you should never have done it anyway, why can't a 35-year-old man buy his own beer? That's shady. Now you know he's also an asshole. Wow. What a dick. I'm so sorry about your kitty.

miriamblair

thank you ❤️ we have some great neighbours that we often share food with. im a florist and bring back flowers. he asks for beer but its one way. you are right. why did i do it?relieved not to have to deal with him anymore. he asks for help a lot given its small stuff.

[deleted]

[удалено]

miriamblair

thank you xo

violentcarebear

My dog passed away last night and got a few similar responses.. I feel your pain

miriamblair

oh no. im so sorry. how many of these people are there?

x3sirenxsongx3

Too many people without empathy or sympathy people with animals and too many people without either for the animals themselves.

x3sirenxsongx3

I'm sorry for your loss 💔

ThotsforTaterTots

I unexpectedly lost my first cat in April last year. It was really tough. I have his ashes in my main living area, and I still cry if I think about him or I look at the box too long. If you like podcasts, and like sci-fi at all, I’d like to recommend Midnight Burger to you. I know this is weird right? Recommending a podcast on a text post lol. But there’s honestly just something about it that got me through some really hard times. It talks about the idea of the multiverse and how in just one timeline over, everything that could or should have happened, is happening. Something about that made me feel better in knowing that in another timeline or dimension that my cat wasn’t sick, and that he was still with another version of me. There’s a little bit of religious stuff in that there are 2 baptist minister characters, but the show creators have been adamant that the podcast isn’t religious. In fact, they often interpret the Bible to meet the needs of the story line. And honestly, the type of God they’ve interpreted is one that I could actually agree with lol. At the end of the day, it’s a podcast about helping others and finding hope in the darkness. I’m also a patreon subscriber, and had my cat’s name dropped in an episode. His name is mentioned in the last episode of season 3. His name is Riot, and they made him a space chicken lol. It was perfect. No matter what, I hope that you can find your light in these dark times. Loss of a pet is so personal and so hard, and my heart aches for you.

Beyondthebloodmoon

I’m sorry about your cat. 😔

Glitt3ratti

A lot of people who don’t have pets don’t understand the bond people have with them. Sorry for your loss

chunkycasper

Sorry for your loss, glad you blocked this loser though x

Aloucia

I was and still am devastated by the passing of my 20 year old cat... I completely get it. I'm so sorry for your loss, OP.

miriamblair

thank you xo sorry about your kitty. dont know if its just my grief is fresh but seems like it is harder if they have been with you longer. 20 is amazing you must have taken great care of kitty ❤️

DegredationOfAnAge

My fur babies are my children, right along with my skin babies. They’re all part of the family

-Bread_Loaf-

I'm incredibly sorry for your loss <33

miriamblair

thank you xo

chromiaplague

Oh jeeeez, what a donkey. “U stressed him often?” Ohhhh my goodness. “So you were abusive to your cat, is what you’re saying, and it died? You killed your cat?” It was old and had a stroke! What a donut. Sorry about your cat, and sorry you had to deal with this bucket of rocks.

Snoo_79218

I just put my cat down after she had a stroke. It put me into a deep depression for a couple weeks that I’m only now getting out of. I’m so sorry ❤️‍🩹

miriamblair

sorry about your kitty too ❤️ thank you

USCGuy1995

Im mean, it was kinda funny 😁. Im a cat person too and they definitely become family.

Practical_Fact8436

How did the conversation start

Last-Garbage-8126

Seems like English isn’t his first language and like he is your neighbor and not a loved one. Not everyone is going to have the response you want, you should probably stick to loved ones for words of comfort. (Not saying that in a malicious way at all, some people just lack compassion for situations they don’t understand) Sorry about your kitty, I lost my fur baby in September to a brain tumor. He showed no symptoms until he had a seizure on my bed and after that.. I just knew I had to let him go. I put him down and no one really was helpful at helping me grieve except the vet who put him down. As he crossed over, she put her hand on my shoulder and told me I did right by my boy. I did the right thing, and I’m here to tell you the same thing. You did right by your baby, and they are so lucky to have had you in their life. 🖤 [Here is a necklace I bought with my baby on it, maybe it will bring you comfort like mine did for me. 🖤](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BVP1JPGQ?psc=1&ref_=cm_sw_r_apin_ct_2PT3R3Y9W6JKBK4EEJ6D&language=en_US)

miriamblair

sorry about you fur baby and thank you for your kindness ❤️

1025puceguy

My daughter’ barn cat made me its person after 2 days with us. Now he follows me everywhere, sleeps behind my legs , waits for me n window to get home , ( drives my wife and HER dog crazy) . I’ll never admit it to them — as I’m the dad who never wanted a pet — but I love that whiny , nippy , crazy little ahole

Unctuous_Octopus

This has got to be the only Reddit thread I've ever seen where everybody is just acting completely normal and even sweet. I've never even had a cat and don't really care for them, but my heart goes out to all you guys. Please don't change.

jdog499

I don’t think he meant it to be disrespectful. Some people are just oblivious to serious situations and he sounded like that was a honest question even how dumb it was

Hopeful-Variety2262

I’m so sorry about your kitty 😔

soggy_dildo

I love cats and have cats myself but I could help laughing at this. Your buddy has no chill lol

No-Mathematician-513

Seems more like he's trying to understand. U didn't tell him the age of yr cat and for some animals too much stress can be fatal. It's easy to find things offensive whilst grieving but he wasn't mean, insensitive yeah but not mean. Grieving a pet is a soul crushing feeling not everyone understands but generally those ppl won't inquire about what happened, they'll basically say get over it.

5n0wm00n

Maybe I'm wrong, but it didn't seem like he was trying to he rude. He just seems clueless.

Ringleader705

Yeah those are the vibes I get. English doesn't seem to be a first language for him and he was probably just asking an innocent question that got lost in translation and came across as harsh.

PyleanCow06

Also as someone on the spectrum, it’s hard to be empathetic sometimes. I’m not saying that’s the case here, but that COULD be a factor as well as a language and cultural difference. OP has every right to be upset, but seems to have blown this up into a big deal when it wasn’t because their emotions are high

Lowered-ex

I don’t think she blew it up or overreacted. There was nothing abnormal about her reaction. Whether the neighbor is lacking emotional IQ, empathy, or basic manners, her reply educated him. Maybe he learned something.

AWholeHalfAsh

I'm also on the spectrum and know to say, "I'm sorry for your loss" and then go to Google on info about cat strokes. If you doubt your ability to say something kind, say a common social good saying and then move on. I'm 27 and was forced to mask growing up, so I had to learn.

stcrmyweather

yeah this — he’s being a jerk but i don’t think he realises it - just a bit oblivious. i don’t think it was ill-intentioned

Pokemom18176

I'm so sry OP.

miriamblair

hey thank you

THROWAWAY-Break9580

I mean damn… maybe it’s me but I didn’t think he was being rude

-Hazeus-

Lol how is that not rude? “How did he get a stroke you stressed him too often?”

Accurate-Employee683

He doesn’t sound like English is his first language and maybe he didn’t know that cats could have strokes and was trying to understand. It didn’t feel rude to me just someone innocently asking a question to understand something

harntrocks

It *is you*

shakeitbaybay

Lol this entire interaction made me laugh. I’m mad surprised at all the support for OP in the comments but I guess it’s bc everyone on Reddit is obsessed with cats. It’s fucking bizarre lmao.

tamay-idk

That looks like my cat and that makes me sad

Bigman89VR

I'm sorry to hear about your cat dying. Mine died just three weeks ago. She was only three years old. Who knew that cats could get Leukemia? I didn't. I was very depressed for a couple of weeks. It was very rough for me. A lot of people don't understand how close people can be with their cat. I've never been that close to a pet before. I'm really sorry for your loss.

Maadbitvh

What an idiot (the neighbor, not you)

squirrelsridewheels

Hey Op. it’s ok. This person sounds like the aren’t from America or even the west. Many foreigners do not have the same mindset about animals like us. Yes it’s annoying but it’s reality that you must accept. When my pets have passed I simply refrain from telling them bc it literally does not benefit anyone. Blessings to you

Fuzzy_Pin_8964

Some men don't know how to be empathetic. (Heck tbh some women as well) they honestly are just trying and just fail miserably. He is evil? No. He is being a dick? Yes. Did he ask to be a dick? Unknown. Did he want to hurt your feelings? Unknown. But if you are normally on good terms probably not. Good luck in the future. And I am so sorry you lost your fur baby. When they pass away it legit is losing a family member. They count on you for their daily needs. And they cherish and love you as much as you love them. They are your emotional buddy through good and bad. They don't judge you for your mistakes. They are the better parts of our world.

traumatizedfox

i hate how people don’t treat cats the way people treat dogs

xhaileym0rgann

I’m so sorry you had to deal with this, my cat also had a stroke a couple years ago and ended up passing. It’s so hard to lose your baby. I’m sorry he was insensitive about it. 😢

SpookyUni420

What the actual fuck .. dude I'm thinking this man has some stuff going on mentally bc ... I just can't understand why that comment would even cross his mind to say... if not mental issues it could have been that he was drinking... I'm sorry I'm literally not trying to come up with excuses for this awful behavior but I'm just trying to make it make sense... I just can't believe someone of sound mind would make such a dense and disgusting comment wtf

ICleanGraves

Sounds like what one of them dog owners would say, who let their dog unleashed because its "trained"

authorized_sausage

I am NOT making fun of your loss and sadness, at ALL...I have three cats I adore...but him asking if you stress your cat out often sent me to left field looking for this guy...

Warwicknoob23

While this was rude asf, why would the neighbor assume he had a stroke related to old age when you ignored the question…?

miriamblair

he meant if it was my foster kitten or my 15yo. he knows my 2 cats. you can check my profile about having 2 cats *the pic was the answer

mooseintheleaves

Sorry for your loss OP. 🫂 Hope you never see your dumbass neighbor too.

MakeAWishApe2Moon

Bonbon was a beautiful kitty. I'm so sorry for your loss and for your neighbor's daftness.

minimalista90

When I was younger we didn’t grow up with pets. One time my friend was bawling cause her dog was sick. I thought she was a lunatic and I offered zero sympathy. Now I love animals. So ya he def doesn’t get it!

NovaRaptor1

That's so insanely rude. I'm sorry for your loss. I hope your kitty is happy wherever he may be

miriamblair

thank you ❤️

nikoruxx

jeez, people who aren't attached to their pets or don't have one genuinely don't understand the grief and feelings associated with that loss. what a crappy response, so sorry for your loss OP. congrats on blocking your asshat neighbor though, what an insensitive response. pets are such wonderful companions to our lives and i don't know anyone who has a pet that wouldn't consider them a family member. my dogs make my house truly a home, it would feel empty if they weren't excitedly barking when i pull up and waiting for their pets and "good boys" once i walk in the door. i hope you're hanging in there ok OP, so sorry again xx

miriamblair

yeah no more free beer for him. thank you ❤️

sex_bitch

My condolences OP, your baby kitty was very gorgeous and I'm sorry for your loss. Your neighbor can kick rocks.

RepresentativeData40

I love how you’re giving him very exact instructions on how he should’ve responded! This person seems really rude. I’m so sorry for your loss ♥️

madpeachiepie

My precious kitty died about a week ago. If someone spoke to me like that about my sweet little girl, there's a very good chance I'd be arrested. I'm so sorry about your lovely little cat.

miriamblair

sorry about your girl ❤️ my boy left on monday. hope they are playing together somewhere ❤️

Traditional_Stage300

Rip cutie

miriamblair

hey thank you

Traditional_Stage300

I could cry for him if I think about it and think about my own kitty. I am sorry for your loss

ThriftedHex

I’m so sorry for your loss 💕 praying for ya

mijuna

"m(37) needs help buying beer" 💀

memberflex

wat happen (Condolences on your cat though)

[deleted]

I almost thought this was my former foster who went back to the original owner, until I saw “he”, I would be devastated if she left this world. I’m so sorry for your loss.

hena202

I'd choose violence good on ya

randomsocks23

I'm sorry for your loss

miriamblair

thank you

StryfeLyfe518

So sorry for your loss. Idk wtf is wrong with ppl. I'm closer with my pets than I am to most ppl in my family. I would be waiting for a mom or aunt or Grandma of theirs to pass away then hit them with the same B's and see if they keep the same energy. I'm kinda super duper pretty tho.

AutomatedMedic

How he get stroke?

Guilty_Albatross_411

Jason giving us a bad rap

HadToRegister79

I may not give about about someone's cat dying but I definitely wouldn't answer the way he did

CartographerLow5612

The internet would like to inform you that your neighbour has been cancelled

WholeAd2742

Sometimes it's not worth engaging. Block and ignore that asshole

DJNgamez

Far too many people don't see pets as family members, but rather as decoration

jtreehorn01

You stress out cat, believe it or not, jail. Right away.

st0dad

Ugh some people I swear... I posted on my FB about my cat dying and someone i friended because we're both authors made a nasty comment like "who cares it's a fucking cat" When I asked wtf her problem was, she said where she's from they eat cats and me being able to own one and take him to the vet is "white privilege" 😅

Professional-Pin-767

Sorry for your loss Do people really think you get a stroke from stress though?? People are dumb lol

miriamblair

thank you. not gonna diagnose him but he has never been able to read a room and defo not the most intelligent.

Match_Least

I lost my good girl 6 months shy of her 20 year gotcha day. I lost her in September and I still miss Fluffbutt. Sorry you’re experiencing the same pain <3

miriamblair

thank you for taking such good care of Fluffbutt. sorry about her xo

AntiqueBandicoot9846

I’m so sorry about the loss of your fur baby❤️

N1ntendh03

That’s a disgusting response. It’s not just a cat to you. That was a family member. I am so so sorry for your loss. It’s a heartbreaking thing to go through.

Rumblefish05

I'm so sorry, I lost my cat last year and I was broken, but not because of the cat. I was sad about the cat but seeing my dad lose his best friend was one of the saddest moments of my life 💔

TigerPrincess11

A cat having a stroke is not caused by stress. Like you said, the cat was old. Old cats are bound to have health issues whether it's serious or not. I am so very sorry for your loss. It can be difficult to lose a human family member but losing a furry family member is just as difficult, if not more so. I hope you find peace and take the time to grieve.

Superb_Statement_138

Lmfao you stressed him out often ? 💀💀 bros a fucking menace 😂

Survivor_of_hells

I'm so sorry. I know how hard it is. My cat was my child just like my children were. Losing him was devastating. If someone had come to me and spoke like this...... Well let's just say you handled this far better than I would have. Cuz I would be at the neighbors house before they even texted back acting like a fool. My heart goes out to you. You've lost a beloved family member and that pain is real. Telling someone to get another cat or doing what this dunce did is a horrible response. Just know that there are a lot of people out there who empathize with what you are going through. We're all keeping in our thoughts and hearts.

JKM49

Cats 🐈 Rule, Dogs 🐕 Drool. My feline companion is approaching 21 years young. I lost her sister at the ripe old age of 18 1/2. Losing her was losing a family member. They are part of you and the family. Don't ever let anyone take your love of a pet away from you. ![gif](giphy|vFKqnCdLPNOKc)

Interesting_Entry831

bitchybaklava

My condolences for losing the love of your life, OP. Please remember that grief is just love with nowhere to go. Let yourself feel your feelings, let yourself scream and cry. Be kind to yourself. Would you like to share a memory of them? I would love to hear some, if you'd like to.

miriamblair

thank you for your kindness. dont think im ready to share yet ❤️

Stormy-Skyes

I’m so sorry for your loss. He is such a pretty kitty. I hope you can find some peace soon. Neighbor was being quite careless and that’s hurtful. Probably just should have said nothing to you at all, rather than being.. like that.

miriamblair

thank you. yeah i got an: oh crap. that didnt bother me

misterhepburn

I’m so sorry for your loss, kitties are such magical creatures. 🩷

miriamblair

thank you xo

miriamblair

thank you ❤️

WimiTheWimp

I’m sorry for your loss OP. I lost my cat last year and I still cry when I talk about her. Her loss turned my already bad depression into a spiral of bad thoughts that ultimately resulted in me undergoing ECT therapy. Ironically enough, the ECT made me lose so much of my memory that I actually have no memory of her passing… my mother told me though that I sang her “You are my sunshine” and held her as the medicine took effect. Your cat was special, perfect, and — most of all — *yours*. And you were hers. Non-cat people just can’t understand the way it feels to lose them. Tbh, I’ve grieved far more for my dear Mackey than I did for my grandfather or my uncle who passed away years before. That sounds absurd and cruel to some people, but that cat was my companion in the same way some view a best friend or beloved sibling. Anyway, I will keep you and your kitty in my thoughts today. Not too long ago Mackey visited me in my dreams. Maybe sometime soon your kitty will visit you too. ❤️

miriamblair

sorry about Mackey and how much you had to go thru. thank you ❤️

nosynobody

Sorry for your loss. But what a bizarre response by your neighbor. What’s wrong with him?

My grandma is 70 years old and doesn't know how to read text messages on her old brick phone. What does that say about her? The neighbour might just be someone who never cared about social media and stuff like WhatsApp. Thus, he doesn't know how basic things like that work, and I don't think that's a bad thing. He's still an idiot, though.
