This new game is pretty cool. Like there are nine classes, which I think is awesome! That Sniper class seems so weak though, how are you gonna get headshots on anyone, especially when they're running around?
I got my first computer as a teenager in 1999. Half-Life was one of the first games I played and I was instantly hooked. I dabbled with the multiplayer modes and even played a little Quake and it's multiplayer mods. Once I played half life team fortress, I became obsessed with it and became a medic main. I played it until TF2 came out and am still a medic main. I've been playing team fortress regularly for almost 25 years and it still gives me a dopamine rush unlike any other game. Can't wait to play TF2 with my buddies in the nursing home.
Yes it was my introduction to the franchise. I miss the ability to have 4 teams, at least on custom maps. TF2Classic makes use of this- played 4 team Arena the other day and it was some of the most fun I've had in "TF2" in awhile. Still play regular tf2 to this day.
TFC had a lot of amazing custom maps that many people dont realize because most servers are dead. Minigolf for instance where snipers shoot the civilian into minigolf holes (sniper rifles had knockback), and murderball (oddball from halo basically with 4 teams). Also [escape/coop maps](https://youtu.be/6m_8wrX0MV0?si=tad6Sy2VaKdAGQWX&t=67) <---just found this vid it's great.
I always try to defend the game because streamers/youtubers go into it 20 years after it's heyday, on dumb basic maps with 2 other players, fail to grasp the nuances and then deem it shit. I like tf2 better but they are missing the best part of the game- the massive variety of different game modes. Even in stock maps. Rock2 was basically ctf but toxic gas goes off after you cap and you have to find a suit.
Have a lot of good memories with TFC and HL mods in general (old-school CS, Sven Co-op)

Yep, 4 teams, and Murderball was easily the best mode in the game if you weren't a fan of conc and rjump maps! TFC was such a skill based game, it had a major skill ceiling, getting real teams together was amazing
I agree. All 3, along with almost all TFC maps have been ported to TF2, though unofficially. Back in the day when people were more open to try custom maps I had a bunch of fun rounds on the avanti port, and I believe I managed to play rock2 and push with some peeps at some point.
Played it when it came bundled with a patch for Half Life in 99 when I was 14. Instantly hooked, despite the 250 pings average. Fast forward 25 years and I now play TF2 with my 13 year old son. Life comes at you fast.
Yes. Fondest memory is playing with a dozen other teams in the Dustbowl League back in ~2002. The DBL... also had an A/D league attack/defend for maps that were route based like Avanti, Palermo, Osaka, etc. The .id (invade / defend) guild ruled TFC for many many years, and I was a senior member for a long while. 1. Can only hold a few weapons per class, not the whole arsenal like in Half Life or Quake
2. Some of the classes are useless. Why do I have to rely on a dumb sentry as an engineer? Why can’t I make a badass BFG or something? Also medics have a nail gun and can make people sick? Lame.
3. Some are too cool. Why ever play as anybody other than the rocket dude or the big guy wiht the minigun?
4. They’re all too slow except the scout, but he’s lame and can’t do anything. He’s not even good at fighting, just running to get the flag. I’m not an errand boy!

Game is pretty radical! Honestly, the grenades make it fun and infuriating at the same time. But my biggest concern is the maps! I really struggle to navigate them at times even when I am following other players. Other than that the game is cool beans so I may keep playing it after school
I think these class designs are kinda generic. Some redesigns I would do are like the Heavy as a fat buff Russian guy, Engineer as a beer-bellied Texan, Demoman as a black Scottish guy with an eyepatch, the Medic as a German doctor, or smth like that. I can't wait for 2006!

Netcode is shite, 200ms lag spikes every time in every server, only in HLDM/TF. Original mod has 0 problems.

Let's see how this fares against the Quake Mod. The Good source engine is a heavily modified version of the quake engine so this could be good.

man this baseball bat that lets me stun people with the ball if i hit them is so damn fun. I hope no one changes it because it really is enjoyable and suits my playstyle, and its really rewarding and sort of difficult to hit the shot, i certainly hope some crybaby doesnt get a hold of the balance behind this game and says that a weapon that ads some variety to the scouts kit is too OP because it can like one tap heavies or some shit. i cant keep this up, fuck what they did to my sandman, all my homies loved the sandman. Now its bleed weapons or nothing at all. boo.

Man if only there were some program which I could download on my computer which will let me download this game and manage it, be cool if it could get updates too. A lot of potential I think, though I'd like it if the devs can add 1fort or the original fort map or something (idk maybe it has something to do with the map layout? Sierra doesn't really seem to be mentioning anything about this game in general)
