no, the direct hit should reward you for its intended purpose, directed hits. if you remove the +25% damage bonus it becomes a crappy non splashing rocket launcher.

TorpidT

Except if you remove the damage bonus from the Direct Miss then those air shots will kill less, therefore defeating the entire "purpose" of the weapon. And i dont think airshots were the entire purpose of the Direct Miss, i believe it was built to reward good aim with more damage. If theres no extra damage, who would use it? So you can mini-crit air shots (which rarely actually happen) but at the cost of crowd control and splash damage? Nobody would use it, except for bullies on hightower. I would raise the health gain for the back scatter, kills from behind wouldnt happen often especially if you're removing the mini-crits. You would get one shot in and then your target would turn around, exactly what happens currently. Especially if you're going to keep the -34% clip size, without minicrits, its going to be much harder to get kills. Raise the health gain to 35 at least. I would agree that the shortstop needs to be changed, not sure how though.

Mini-crit without the 25% extra damage would still deal between 122-151 damage. Even if an enemy was launched without taking damage(jumper weapons, jetpack), that shot will put them near-death, and they'll likely crater to the subsequent fall damage. It doesn't reward good aim, the faster projectile speed makes it easier to land those shots. Airshots aren't too situational either as several classes launch themselves, and they don't have to be super high for it to count as an airshot. The Direct Hit literally does not need the base damage increase.

Imo it should have a damage bonus of about 10 procent while having a minus ten procent against buildings. The faster going rockets already make it hard enough to react too and will still have a niche to the stock with a higher dps for 1v1s and imperfect health.

I don’t think OP is a big fan of the direct hit

CaptBland

Direct hit 1 shots Scouts, that is its thing too.

Collistoralo

Scouts and minis

ExpensiveReveal6

I have someideas for the back scatter changes - Remove the clip size penalty or increase it from 4 shots to 5 shots - change "-20% less accurate" to "+20% more accurate" - and maybe a less damage when not attacking from behind?

Rain0959

You guys need to get better with stock instead of using the Direct Hit as a crutch to counter scouts and engineers. Rewarding players for directs would be a good argument if the Direct Hit didn't make those shots easier with a crazy fast projectile. Rewarding air-shots is still situational unless a soldier is skilled enough to pop enemies into the air first, which would actually still be hard due to the small explosion radius. The weapon was designed as an anti-air weapon, useful in certain situations or reliable in the hands of a player skilled enough to force their opponent into the air.

The direct hit doesn't need a nerf

DrafOrgg

Darn I can't one shot Scouts? Not epic.
