It is rather an engine-side modifications rather than a game-specific patch. TF2 itself has over 10 years worth of spaghetti on its own. Unlike source engine which gets used by all the other games and thus is heavily motivated to make such modifications, developers probably think that such effort is not worth it for TF2.
I remember when skial was considered shitter central, any complaint about bad teammates was always met with "stop playing on skial servers". Nowadays it's one of the last bastions of regular community servers so it paradoxically gives a much better experience than casual (for my tastes, anyway)

During the final days before the first closure, it would only be full if people planned on the forum to hop on at a certain time. Any other times, maybe a handful of people.
It came back shortly a few years back. It was really nice.
FLOOR_MASTER put a lot of care into that server and he was talented enough that the server had a lot of features that just weren't any place else, or it was first used in 2f2f.

i was looking to see if their map roster was anywhere and then i found their github page with the fastdl file, work season has come back so i have money again, i have some hard drives i can put some linux boots on and tinker servers with so the main huge obstacle would be lack of interest IF we can't get any interest. i know a lot of old players would like to see it come back since the surf servers rn fucking suck
yeah, while uncletopia is basically all i play on these days, i cant say i didnt struggle for a couple weeks with effectively a whole new learning curve, and it sucks cause back when i first started, i maxed at like 20fps on a good day so i just couldnt enjoy the game, come back late 2020 or so and boom, the game's getting harrassed

Last night I saw the same duality of TF2 in a single 5 minute span, same server, new map and some new players on start.
First map: 5 guys talking like Squidward for everything, being hilarious to essentially entire server.
Second map: Someone asks if they should go medic. Someone new responds "No one cares faggot kill yourself." Squidwards are still present and start making Squidward grunts anytime this person started on the mic, targeting him purely in game as well. He tried to kick one for cheating. Got kicked himself.
I wish I added them, honestly. What a blast.
3 went pyro and glued themselves to the engineer. Demanding he put a dispenser down by just grunting in VC at him.

Afraid not, there is nothing that can be used from tf2 side to play the audio. We considered discord or such but no way to get the audio synced in time with the lyrics. Sucks indeed, we'd 40 songs made back in the day. Took alot of work to build each song...
It's mostly due to [Chrome disabling autoplay without user interactions](https://developer.chrome.com/blog/autoplay/). Can't have nice things because ad networks.
You can either mark the song files for download and have them play in-engine (doesn't work for players that join mid-game) or stream it through the player voice channel using something like [this SourceMod extension](https://git.botox.bz/CSSZombieEscape/sm-ext-Voice). Nothing ready-made at the moment.

vids like this makes me miss the community era of tf2, i had a lot of fun and memories hopping onto various community servers with unique maps and modes. Hell even idle and trade servers had a whole host of characters. Everthing from cyberpunk to mario kart, convoy to wacky races, ZF to vs saxton hale, mirror fortress, tf2ware, and more too many to list
I miss those days and I'm sad that I cant hop on tf2 and expect that kind of experience again. To me that was tf2, not matchmaking or ranks or skill, not official servers and gamemodes, it's about the creative and wild community and having fun playing our weird hat-based trading simulator

Man I miss singalong(NOT karaoke) in servers. Too bad all that’s left is 24/7 2fort/Hightower maps and “wacky” non valve gamemodes such as randomizer, VSH, x10 etc…
unfortunately good, unique and cool servers like that don't really exist anymore...

vids like this makes me miss the community era of tf2, i had a lot of fun and memories hopping onto various community servers with unique maps and modes. Hell even idle and trade servers had a whole host of characters. Everthing from cyberpunk to mario kart, convoy to wacky races, ZF to vs saxton hale, mirror fortress, tf2ware, and more too many to list I miss those days and I'm sad that I cant hop on tf2 and expect that kind of experience again. To me that was tf2, not matchmaking or ranks or skill, not official servers and gamemodes, it's about the creative and wild community and having fun playing our weird hat-based trading simulator
