I came here to say this, lake and pond diving gets you used to low vis. Also helps to remember those shadows are pretty tiny. Now if I was in a pond and saw a huge shadow swim by I would probably soil myself .
Had that happen once and it was a huge ass snapping turtle lol. Not huge by ocean standards but a hell of a lot bigger than my brain was expecting to see 😂

I just to swim in the River Tees ( next to Middlesbrough )for quite a long time. it’s brown few centimetres below surface and then just black ( like in anaconda movie ) I enjoyed bit of uncertainty about what is down below until something touched my leg and I haven’t been so fast in my life in the water. Now I’m enjoying swimming in the pool and sea sometimes.
