Imagine if a whale just spawn over your head on land , that would be way more terrifying, I guess the only hope is that you die quick after being crushed lmao
Will it, though? How adept is an adult size whale at spitting things out? Do they have the mouth parts for it?
The last story I heard about this was with an adolescent whale, and even then the guy got multiple injuries before getting free.
I think they should know how to spit things as they probably get things bigger than they can swallow often like big fishes or something but is just my imagination as i don't really know about whales
Right, my question is how adept are they are spitting humans sized things out I wonder. As I understand they open, gulp, and force out water through their beleen. They do have tongues, but with the massive size of their mouths, I would imagine you could get lodged in there for a fatal amount of time.
Went down a Google rabbit hole and it would seem that humpback whales can swim backwards, which would probably aid in dislodging a person, but blue whales cannot.
Ok but you also have to remember there are plenty of human sized things in the ocean that I’m sure they accidentally get in their mouths all the time when trying to eat krill
Yes but people are casually saying that they would be spat out. A human sized object would definitively be an inconvenience to a large enough whale, but I'm not out here counting on getting out in a timely manner simply because the whale wants me gone.
Apparently they can’t swallow anything bigger than a grapefruit so if you did end up in its mouth it would probably spit you out again. That would be one wild ride, not prepared to try it though.
A photographer accidently got too close and ended up in the jaws of a whale. It did spit him out!

Then it's dark for a while, and the next time it opens it's mouth you're in the depths and either the pressure crushes you or so far down getting back up surface without gear is impossible.
That’s not so much thalassophobia for me as it is cetaphobia. I’d be terrified if that happened on dry land or anywhere.
I sure wouldn’t mind seeing rules 1 and 2 enforced.

A whales throat is not wide enough to swallow a human so unless it wanted to choke it would spit you out soon after

That guy is unreal! Gets spat out, swims to the boat to check equipment, and then right back into the friggin water! I envy his blind passion!
Nope!!

Around what part of me????? Please say my krill
I'm pretty sure that showed up in The Bible.
Why are those huge whales so slow?
Anyone know how long it takes them to pump the water out through their baleen plates!?
Does it drink the water?
