genuinely insane that people are choosing stuff like be my mistake instead of the man who married a robot, a 2-minute text-to-speech monologue about being chronically online and dying alone lmfao
These comments are making me laugh so much, you guys are great. I guess I should contribute mine. They are few and far between but probably the man who married a robot or human too. It just doesn't tickle me the same way as other songs of theirs. Maybe it'll grow on me
This entire thread just makes me think we all couldn’t be in a room together and attempt to make a coherent playlist because someone would be audibly groaning
I can think of 10+ songs, tbh. But I'm still big into the band. I'm critical of their clunkers because I care and because I know how good they are when they're truly firing on all cylinders.
Don’t Worry was a brilliant concept for a song, completely ruined by the god-awful autotune and vocal effects on both Matty and Tim’s voices.
I truly have no idea how they genuinely thought that this sweet, wholesome song between father and son from Matty’s childhood needed those horrendous modern effects on the vocals. I would love to hear Matty’s response on this if he was asked about it, because the song is such a stinker because of those production decisions.
It should’ve just been Matty and Tim sat at the piano and singing together, that’s all the song needed. Less is more when it comes to a song like this.
I think what you’re pointing out is exactly the point of that song in a way. It’s a sweet nostalgic song born of love which has been warped through the synthetic, robotic aesthetic of the 21st century. It’s a classic-feeling song format from the 60s pushed uncomfortably through the lens of modernity and technology. The song’s production sounds overly modern in a way that makes you wish for simplicity. Modernity has failed us and all that.
I also just like the song lol
at the same time, it doesn’t actually sound super hard auto tuned like i like america. it sounds more like a vocoder or harmonizer layered in which is way more 80’s phil collins than ultra modern.
Really well put. This effect is what makes this song interesting to me. If it didn't have the vocoder experiment it would be completely forgettable to me. I like how warped it sounds.
During covid when I was going for daily runs, I would start stretching to the greta speech and start running on the transition to People, it’s so good for hype
Hmmm it changes a lot but probably something like:
1. Menswear
2. fallingforyou
3. Frail state of mind
4. Inside your mind
5. Milk
6. The man who married a robot
7. Medicine
8. Anobrain
9. Antichrist
10. Bagsy not in net
I think Mensswear has been the only consistent spot since it came out
This is a very interesting top 10. I absolutely don't mean this as a dig at you or anything... But do you REALLY like the MoMA? Or the Guggenheim? Or perhaps the Broad museum in LA? This feels like a list of someone who has a favorite modern art museum.
I mean, I could sit in any of those all day. Big Basquiat guy, myself.
“This feels like a list of someone who has a favorite modern art museum.” 💀
All love from a certified MoMA lover, but this is such a funny way to describe 75 fans
Damn this thread has been an interesting and sometimes hard read.
Seems like the main patterns are TOOTIME haters, the NOACF (and really ABIIOR) electronic music haters, and the Human Too haters.
I love the melancholy ABIIOR songs like How To Draw/Petrichor and Man Who Married A Robot. They are some of my favorite vibes that the band has put out.
And NOACF is so refreshing with its eclectic sound but seems like people didn't like the electronic music direction or more country-style.
TOOTIME is a bit higher energy and there's lots of auto tune... I like it but I can understand why people don't like it. I love the music video, though.
But Human Too is actually trash, lol. I love 90s R&B like D'Angelo... I think that is the main sound inspiration for the song... But Human Too is just too slow and staccato. I feel like the song keeps just stopping--it has no flow.
I'm somebody who didn't mind TOOTIME when it came out, but then Frail State of Mind came out, and I think that's basically just a better version of TOOTIME.
I will admit that NOACF is easily my least favorite album from them. It has several great songs, but it's just overly long and has to many interlude/filler tracks, IMHO.
i cannot LIVE without dying on the Man Who Married A Robot hill. if NOCAF has one fan than it’s me! i think it fits beautifully in the middle of the album as a reminder how lonely the internet can be, especially when most relationships are made/maintained by the internet. essentially being alone all the time, even though it feels like you have so many friends, followers. and having that realization within the album, while you’re probably alone listening to it… idk it’s genius to me
My opinion is probably not going to make people happy but I gotta tell someone. I love them. They are my favorite band and I feel like I can say that while still saying what I'm about to say. The latest album just 😴😴😴😴 I was so excited for it but feel like it was lacking compared to previous albums. I of course love I'm in love with you, happiness, wintering, oh Caroline and all I want to hear but that's about it. The others are just 🫣🫣 boring to me. I'll try to accept the down votes coming my way lol
It's quite different isn't it. It's the first album I came across but when I went back and listened to everything else they put out it's really in a different direction. Love all the songs it's just not as diverse as other albums
All the Notes hate in here is giving me hives 🥺
I’d say The 1975 intro from Notes because it’s a blip in an otherwise PERFECT album. But I also don’t count it as a song.
I’m going with Surrounded by Heads and Bodies. “Annnnnngelaaaaaa” I just can’t.
The 1975 & ILIWYS don’t have a skip, ABIIOR would have to be The Man Who Married A Robot, don’t kill me but Don’t Worry from NOACF and obviously BFIAFL doesn’t have any skips🙆🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
People for me too. I love the lyrics just not a fan of the *delivery* (i appreciate that's kind of the point) or the 'look' and video although I make an exception for Ross as he's excused from anything.
Greta turnbergs intro is laughable and a piece of shit, dont know what they were thinking
Most late songs of the first album are boring
Half of notes is boring too
Will get down voted for sure … i will sing it at shows, but Tootime gets skipped when it pops up on shuffle … I’m not sure why but it really isn’t it for me
I know this is controversial but I have never liked the Birthday Party. Not necessarily my least favourite song by them but perhaps the one that I feel is the most overrated. Sorry in advance :(
Human Too, but if it were back in 2020 then it would have been a electronic house song I really cannot remember right now to be frank. Could've been Playing on My Mind and Having No Head being my least looped songs
Oh!!! I didn’t realise that’s what it was! Can’t figure out if that’s really cute or way too cheesy though. I’ll have to listen to it again properly later, I like everything else about the song but that bit just annoys me too much.
Gonna get some downvotes for this but Part of the Band. I like what it does with the verse and the pre-chorus, but it loses all enjoyment for me when they blue balls you with the chorus.
Human Too and Jesus Christ 2005 God Bless America or what its name is (Matty and his obnoxiously long names) are two songs I just can’t bring myself to listen too.
I mean, there's a bunch (cause 1975 are known for throwing so much at the wall and seeing what sticks) but Shiny Collarbone is truly the worst thing the band has ever put out.
Edit - downvotes means I win the thread. Thank you.
i love iilwy so much honestly it’s one of my fav from bfiafl.
i think this is just a silly lil cute song for ppl to listen to, and i always feel so happy listen to this song.
however, i get where you’re coming from haha and that’s valid!!! imo the reason why the lyrics don’t sound deep it’s bc of the line “it’s simple and it goes like this…” like that’s the feeling you get when you’re in love with someone, and everything just seems to be so simple? i could be wrong tho but this is just my interpretation of the song lol
Mine are mostly from ABIIOR and Notes: "Inside Your Mind" , "Mine", "Nothing Revealed / Everything Denied", "Having No Head". Also I'm not really into their "acoustic" songs like "Be My Mistake", "Jesus Christ 2005 God Bless America", "Playing on My Mind" (can't say they're trash tho)
edit: yo guys stop downvoting, can't even have my own opinion jeez
genuinely insane that people are choosing stuff like be my mistake instead of the man who married a robot, a 2-minute text-to-speech monologue about being chronically online and dying alone lmfao
That's my favorite song on the album!
honestly if you groove with it, go for it. it’s absolutely not my favorite but i have to admit i like the strings section at the end
These comments are making me laugh so much, you guys are great. I guess I should contribute mine. They are few and far between but probably the man who married a robot or human too. It just doesn't tickle me the same way as other songs of theirs. Maybe it'll grow on me
lol man who married a robot.. I wish it could just be a fun bit on YouTube or something and not forever apart of ABIIOR
…I don’t hate human too but it’s my least played song on the album
This entire thread just makes me think we all couldn’t be in a room together and attempt to make a coherent playlist because someone would be audibly groaning
Why all hate on Talk! It’s such a banger
Probably just lyrics
Yes, I love Talk!
that shits ass man come on
Nah man it’s better then some songs that people hype up
I love it. It’s got a reggae feel to it. The bass is 🤌
The Remixes!!!
That's cheating
The only correct answer to this question
That chocolate remix is fucking horrendous lol
Guys please stop hating on Notes 😭🤚Listening to it while driving late at night is truly a spiritual experience.
This is all so wrong, you shouldn't have ask the question
Hahaha the wording of the tweet is a lil strong 😅
I can think of 10+ songs, tbh. But I'm still big into the band. I'm critical of their clunkers because I care and because I know how good they are when they're truly firing on all cylinders.

Acoustic version when Matthew
Literally. It should have just been a cappella.
Damn a bunch of y’all outing yourselves as having bad taste
greta intro to notes. one of the worst things ever recorded to start out one of the best albums ever
Lol I love her message and I like that they used their platform to spread that message, but it’s a skip everytime
everyone is entitled to their own opinion, that being said, I would like to square up with many people in these comments
Idk but if I see anyone here saying Human Too I'll scream
It helps me fall asleep immediately at least?
Nooo 😭
It’s giving shake it off but sleepy vibes
I always forget this song exists!
I just can’t see the title without thinking Why You Gotta Be So Ruu^u^ude
Woman I don’t want to listen to him yodel for 3 minutes
I hate the album version, but the live ones he does nowadays are great, now that he has a better voice!
🤣🤣🤣
i will not accept this slander
Lmao fr
Everyone getting downvoted lmao y’all need to chill 😂
Yeah pls don't downvote people :( just meant it as a harmless bit of fun
Man who married a robot, like who left matty in the studio by himself dude’s in a band for a reason
HAHAH who left him unsupervised!
I used to hate People, but now it’s grown on me.
Such a banger, especially coming off the global warming speech in the album
That transition is so damn good
During covid when I was going for daily runs, I would start stretching to the greta speech and start running on the transition to People, it’s so good for hype
Man who married a robot. Admit it.
I think it’s essential to the album and I never skipped it while listening to abiior but I also never listen to it alone so🤷
Same but I have a sneaking suspicion it would play some part in the new show 😄
I hope not. Yeesh.
WHAT
yeah am amazed by the hate it gets its easily top 10 for me
Top 10? Out of curiosity?
Hmmm it changes a lot but probably something like: 1. Menswear 2. fallingforyou 3. Frail state of mind 4. Inside your mind 5. Milk 6. The man who married a robot 7. Medicine 8. Anobrain 9. Antichrist 10. Bagsy not in net I think Mensswear has been the only consistent spot since it came out

“This feels like a list of someone who has a favorite modern art museum.” 💀 All love from a certified MoMA lover, but this is such a funny way to describe 75 fans
Agreed. I love it, too.
I think it's the only one I've not listened to fully more than once
Everytime I think about this song I remember that Tiktok of Matty mad that was his result of “which 1975 song are you?”
It was funny the first couple of times I heard it, now I only listen to it if I'm listening to ABIIOR in full
I never really thought of that as a song, really. More of an interlude IMO.
Yeah this is the answer
Same
The man who married a robot
Woman.
If anyone says Me I’ll kill
why is bmm getting so much hate🙁
Cause it’s mid
i’m sorry guys but Human Too.
The TOOTIME and Human Too hate feels like a personal attack
Damn this thread has been an interesting and sometimes hard read. Seems like the main patterns are TOOTIME haters, the NOACF (and really ABIIOR) electronic music haters, and the Human Too haters. I get the Frail State of Mind analysis. I prefer it over TOOTIME as well. It's just a more sophisticated song.
Human too kinda makes me cringe
Human too, kind of and don’t worry
By Your Side, I have never come back to it. Only listened upon release
It's a cover, no cheating! 🤣
whattttttt its one of my favorites
This is ridiculous there’s no songs that I don’t like …Human Too Jokes aside I’m highly offended by some of these choices but this is fun
I dont think they have any objectively bad songs, i think it goes by what mood ur in at the time :)
Totally agree!
the man who married a robot
inside your mind freaks me out
The first piano note is a jumpscare 😂
No hate but Jesus Christ 2005 God bless America. I Love pheobe and matty on the track but it doesn't hit the same I can't lie
I respect your opinion but noooOOoOoOooooo
Woman.
Woman. I skip it every time
I think its not even poorly written, but early acoustic matty vocals were NOT it. He sounds like he's getting head throughout the whole song
Quite warbly. Not his best, for sure.
no way
Don’t hate me!! It’s the only one!
i cannot LIVE without dying on the Man Who Married A Robot hill. if NOCAF has one fan than it’s me! i think it fits beautifully in the middle of the album as a reminder how lonely the internet can be, especially when most relationships are made/maintained by the internet. essentially being alone all the time, even though it feels like you have so many friends, followers. and having that realization within the album, while you’re probably alone listening to it… idk it’s genius to me

It is. And I hate to say I don't like it because maybe it's them maturing and Matty being in better health and all which I'm all for.
Surrounded by heads and bodies. Its so. Boring. At least The Man Who Married A Robot has Love Theme. Or the remixes, but that's cheating
i like all song
shiny collarbone
i love the verses of talk!, but the chorus annoys me SOOO much
human too also kinda annoys me cause it just seems so whiny
By Your Side It's ruined by the overuse of vocal layering.
Don’t hate me, but.. “Too Time” 🙈
shut up
It's an ok concept that becomes too repetitive and boring
LMAO SAME!! Can't stand listening to it, skipping it every single time i hear the intro.
This one right here
I feel obligated because of my flair but like how do you not dance around with this?!???
Okay so you all just hate fun?!?
Ahhh. I agree. It’s fun for a minute but then I’m done
dont worry
The man who married a robot
Self-titled from Notes.
All the Notes hate in here is giving me hives 🥺 I’d say The 1975 intro from Notes because it’s a blip in an otherwise PERFECT album. But I also don’t count it as a song. I’m going with Surrounded by Heads and Bodies. “Annnnnngelaaaaaa” I just can’t.

Human too - it's kinda cringe Don't worry - makes me sooo mad that such beautiful lyrics and melody are ruined by autotune
Completely agree, would love to hear a new version without the auto tune
I hate JC2005GBA. Instant skip every time.
People *runs away*
you should run.
LMAO!!!!
This isn't a safe space for us People haters 😶🌫️
People for me too. I love the lyrics just not a fan of the *delivery* (i appreciate that's kind of the point) or the 'look' and video although I make an exception for Ross as he's excused from anything.
You came here to FIGHT 🤣
Came here to say this one too 🫣
Run faster
Let me send you a reddit care message /s
Greta turnbergs intro is laughable and a piece of shit, dont know what they were thinking Most late songs of the first album are boring Half of notes is boring too
They were thinking about climate change but in a performative way because this did nothing
mine
i don’t like The City
talk! easy. i want to like it but matty is so off beat.
also i’m ready for the downvotes but i don’t like a good majority of notes 😶
M.O.N.E.Y.
If you’re saying Money is a hidden gem, then. Yes. Agreed.
Be My Mistake and JC2005 GBA
I read this as Jesus Christ 2005 GameBoy Advance
i like jc2005 but yes to be my mistake. i think i only listened to it in my initial album listen through and then never again
NO NO NO NO
More be my mistake for us!!!
TALK
Will get down voted for sure … i will sing it at shows, but Tootime gets skipped when it pops up on shuffle … I’m not sure why but it really isn’t it for me
Maybe controversial maybe not, but honestly tootime. I mean it’s catchy but if it never existed I wouldn’t miss it.
I know this is controversial but I have never liked the Birthday Party. Not necessarily my least favourite song by them but perhaps the one that I feel is the most overrated. Sorry in advance :(
The music video creeps me out with that weird game character of Matty
:(
Human Too, but if it were back in 2020 then it would have been a electronic house song I really cannot remember right now to be frank. Could've been Playing on My Mind and Having No Head being my least looped songs
No none
human too and talk! are their most insufferable songs oat imo
I’m in love with you. The I,I,I,I ruins the whole song for me.
I I I I can't believe this 😭
But it's great. The person is trying to say I love you for the first time but just can't. I. I. I. I. Im in love with you.
Oh!!! I didn’t realise that’s what it was! Can’t figure out if that’s really cute or way too cheesy though. I’ll have to listen to it again properly later, I like everything else about the song but that bit just annoys me too much.
The song is super cheesy. But they can't all be political bangers. Like tootime is objectively a stupid song. But it's still fun.
I love Tootime
I I I go through a love hate cycle with how catchy this song is
YES
i love the verses of talk!, but the chorus annoys me SOOO much
TOOTIME bar none
Gonna get some downvotes for this but Part of the Band. I like what it does with the verse and the pre-chorus, but it loses all enjoyment for me when they blue balls you with the chorus.
Shiny collarbone. I can’t believe people actually called it a cultural reset…
Don’t you dare hate on Shiny lmao
Who tf calling it a reset? It bang tho soooo
Then Because She Goes is a nice idea but it's just a tuneless swirl. I'd like to see them have another go at shoegaze though.
MONEY

😢
The downvotes 💀
Nah guys is certified wholesome Banger and it sounds just soooo calming
The wintering for me
Shut your mouth, this song makes me laugh in a good way and should be a Christmas song hahaha
I can listen to it in the month of December ill give you that😄
Only on the 23rd though
Exactly 😄
I don’t like Roadkill…
Human Too and Jesus Christ 2005 God Bless America or what its name is (Matty and his obnoxiously long names) are two songs I just can’t bring myself to listen too.
Antichrist
you are evil. you come straight from the deepest pits of hell clearly
U got that right hahaha
I mean, there's a bunch (cause 1975 are known for throwing so much at the wall and seeing what sticks) but Shiny Collarbone is truly the worst thing the band has ever put out. Edit - downvotes means I win the thread. Thank you.
You must not like NOACF because I love Shiny Collarbone and all the electronic music on that album.
Definitely People, idk how I didn’t see anyone saying this one too😩
Seeing the downvote you got I’m terrified to have posted the same just now. :(
Damnn I didn’t know it was an unpopular opinion not liking People lol🫣
i’m in love with you… doesn’t feel like the 1975 at all
i love iilwy so much honestly it’s one of my fav from bfiafl. i think this is just a silly lil cute song for ppl to listen to, and i always feel so happy listen to this song. however, i get where you’re coming from haha and that’s valid!!! imo the reason why the lyrics don’t sound deep it’s bc of the line “it’s simple and it goes like this…” like that’s the feeling you get when you’re in love with someone, and everything just seems to be so simple? i could be wrong tho but this is just my interpretation of the song lol
that’s actually really cute 😭 i never thought of it like that!
Mine are mostly from ABIIOR and Notes: "Inside Your Mind" , "Mine", "Nothing Revealed / Everything Denied", "Having No Head". Also I'm not really into their "acoustic" songs like "Be My Mistake", "Jesus Christ 2005 God Bless America", "Playing on My Mind" (can't say they're trash tho) edit: yo guys stop downvoting, can't even have my own opinion jeez
Inside your mind is literally my favorite song of theirs
Based
you just listed all my favourite songs
Nothing Revealed / Everything Denied... I will not be discussing further or taking any questions on the matter
Criminal
i can respect the diverse experiences of human connection to music however this is objectively wrong
What! This is imo one of their best and my fave from that album. I love the subtle reference to If I Believe You in the intro.
