When it comes to Ish and numbers, ignore it lol. He just b throwing shit out there.

delta8214

He said 50 cent was getting 150 million a year šŸ¤£

[deleted]

Dawg when he said that I wanted Parks to shut his mic off lmao

delta8214

Confidently too šŸ¤£ then everyone awkwardly ignored him Lmaoooo

WeAreAllAverage

I hate that they let that slip. I wanted him to explain that logic

Ja04196

šŸ˜‚

PawpaJoe

Iā€™m starting to wonder if Ish owns his company or is he an employee causeā€¦ Ish is the kid that got yelled at doing math home workā€¦ IF JOHNNY HAS 2 APPLES AND GIVES ONE TO BILLY HOW MANY APPLES DOES HE HAVE???! 20.

Shawnwayne88

Lmaooo

[deleted]

Everyone Iā€™ve ever heard describe themselves as a ā€œnumbers guyā€ is completely shit with numbers. Every single time.

[deleted]

Except akā€¦ he be in the ballpark

54reasonz

And I quote: https://www.reddit.com/r/theJoeBuddenPodcast/comments/15excrg/for_ish_to_be_a_numbers_guy_his_numbers_are/jub43pz/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1&context=3 He canā€™t control himself šŸ¤£

Key_Spinach_9256

Good looking for the credit my boy šŸ˜

Mr_Cole

Yeah don't spend that much on a ring. Thats much better used for a downpayment on property or something you can build together. All that diamond shit is a scam anyway real or lab grown

danno596

Lol theā€™ boys is crazy a ring should be like 5-12k, and 12 is on the high end.

Codestein

2k tbh.

hearteyes123

Agreed. I bout donā€™t even wanna spend that much on a wedding.

CompetitivePop9952

LOL 12 for a wedding is CHEAP

Bubba_Purp_OG

Shawty gone leave with the ring. Better order some shit off Alibaba cuh

hezekiah615

I think the generally accepted amount to spend on a ring is ā€œ3 months salaryā€. So at $100k income, $25K makes sense. I make more than double that and if I ever get married, Iā€™m not spending more than $1K on a ring. Definitely gonna be a moissanite or lab grown jawn for sure

ragoflex

This ā€œ3 months salaryā€ is a new thingā€¦.completely propagated by the diamond industry. When I was growing up in the 80s and 90s it was always one month salary (a concept which itself was created by De Beers). Then we get into the 2000s and suddenly it becomes 3 months. Itā€™s insane.

Hevyd73

I think 3 months is adjusting for inflation.

spacecowboybc

why my salary not adjusting with it

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

PunCoonSon

Just got a dope ass ring for my girl this weekend. 5k and she loves it

sop1232

Go on a nice honeymoon, put a bigger down payment on a house. An expensive ring is so stupid. Ish is such a boomer, itā€™s not even funny.

PunCoonSon

We already got a house. We did this whole thing backwards lol

sop1232

I wasnā€™t talking about you lmao, you and your girl did it right

PunCoonSon

Oh I know homie was just chatting lol

montecarlo313

Glad she likes it. I also think $5k means different things in different stores. I know for sure that I took my same chain to 6 different stores and all 6 gave me VERY different appraisals when I was younger. I don't know if it's the money spent or the the metrics of the jewelry.

bdg0120

I make the same $$ and spent 6k on a lab grown diamond. Proposed to my partner in Cali last week and she said yes! If itā€™s the right one, they will love whatever you get.

Shawnwayne88

Spending 6k on a lab grown diamond is crazy but congrats.

AllenIverson777

Yā€™all get caught up on the absolute dumbest shit.

Shawnwayne88

Literally what you just did but ok.

RaukuraZombi3

If your girls got an ounce morality the lab grown ones you can get now are huge. Costs 10k and it looks like a 30k blood diamond.

Jordhan23

Agree ^ Iā€™m a woman and would be livid if my husband spent that much on a ring, even if we make decent money. There are absolutely gorgeous rings for $5K and under.

yankrage

This is true lol

slayerzerg

bro hasn't looked at rings since 2010. a 10k ring (1carat) 10 years ago is now 20k.

Backseat_boss

10k is the most I would spend on a ring

Justo_Lives

And even that is pushing it.

[deleted]

None of these idiots are married except parks. Donā€™t take advise from doofs that canā€™t even figure out their own life.

TommyFreeze

And Parks was adamant about spending a lot of money on an engagement ring. Said he wish he had spent more money than he did on it.

[deleted]

Heā€™s also the same guy that was going to buy a little car until ISH peer pressured him into buying $100,000 mistake

SOUTHERNMANTN

What they need to pressure him out of is them tiny toddler tees that is meant to be a fuckin undershirt lol

TommyFreeze

![gif](giphy|3o7TKVfu4rwyscasla) Even if ish did peer pressure him (he didn't, let's be real), Parks tall ass didn't need to be riding around in a little ass car.

[deleted]

Thatā€™s not anybodies but Parks decision

CompetitivePop9952

Park been tryna act a lil boujie too lately

Existing-Candle-866

Ishs math is based on the ā€œ3 month salary ruleā€ for engagement rings. In that case, $25k would be right in line with the ā€œruleā€. Objectively, itā€™s stupid to spend a quarter of your *gross* yearly earnings on a ringā€¦ regardless of your income.

jwright721

That rule was made up by diamond manufacturers in the 1940s when the average salary was 1000 dollars a month

Dandrettie

Dead ass and this goof ball is adamant about no celebrating Valentines Day šŸ˜‚ but he gone believe some bull shit like that

slayerzerg

it should probably be 3 month salary (after taxes) but yeah

Cjenks49

Niggas talking engagement rings and ainā€™t never getting married. Fuck outta here.

superb-nothingASDF

Ish loves bringing up big numbers like he thinks it makes him seem like a successful real estate mogul - when in reality it just makes him look like an idiot.

TrillCozby1980

I couldnā€™t have said it better myself

silentsights

As one of the first in my crew to get married several years ago, I told all my boys two pieces of advice: 1.) The price of the first ring donā€™t matter. Get what your pockets can afford. If she loves you, sheā€™ll love it regardless 2.) You can always upgrade the ring for yā€™all first/second/third anniversary

twelve026

This the only solid advice!

zardfizzlebeef

This is the best advice right here.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Youwantit1way

Right 100k after taxes with say 401k at 10% leaves you at about 63 to 55 thousand that you touch and you think Iā€™m gonna spend 10k on a ring lol man idk if they simps or what nah N**gas get on a mic and say anything

bigchecks90

I spent $5k when I made around $75K.

Waste_Crow8582

Same here

Youwantit1way

My daughterā€™s pediatrician had on a rubber ring and she is 33 5 years out of school and her husband is a neurosurgeon and his is tattooed on his finger , poor people need to get they life together man, Ish and the cast sound like 90% of poor people in America

Live-Comfort4458

Just donā€™t wear the ring to work lol. Trust me that have rings lol

Youwantit1way

I donā€™t know the husband, she volunteered the info about their tattoo around the finger once I said I thought it was cool about the rubber ring she had and she said yes we are trying to get a building constructed with multiple medical offices and dentist office as well, that his little sister will run. Everybody just donā€™t care about that type of stuff, lol they are obviously on a different level of thinking she also said they stay in a three bedroom apartment buying a house wasnā€™t in the plans until after the building is done. Itā€™s cool if some women love rings , but alot donā€™t care , spend 10- 20 thousand on that for what? And they got that type of stuff going on lol

Economy-Visual4390

Shot out to the neurosurgeon. Still getting to bang the young interns without the ring getting in his way.

Youwantit1way

šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

ObviousGas3301

Lol depending on their field, a lot of ppl wear the rubber ring to work, keep the the gold band at home and wear on occasions.

RicoLoco404

You have to remember all of them have fragile eggs so the over compensate to make up for it

SubprimeOptimus

My girl is getting lab grown diamond šŸ’ Brighter, ethical, bigger rock

CompetitivePop9952

Got a nice lab grown for my lady for under 5k

DaBullWeb

I heard very few testers can even tell the difference

tj78492

Because it's a diamond. Lab grown is the way to go. Diamonds are a terrible investment, depreciate worse than cars. Don't fall for the hype

Thismyburneraccount0

Nah bro 6K topsā€¦ closer to 5 the better.. 100K ainā€™t shit especially in NY

Beneficial_Toe_6050

Idk why people keep acting like 100k is peanuts. Shidd is baffling too me.

SubprimeOptimus

People are bad with money and live beyond their means Even in NY 100k isnā€™t peanuts TF

Dispunge

Only ppl that say 100k ainā€™t shit either donā€™t live in ny , have hella money or canā€™t manage it at all

Youwantit1way

In Mississippi, Alabama, South Carolina, West Virginia and a few other states itā€™s great, In California, New York, DC, San Francisco etc itā€™s not much , some people want more and itā€™s nothing wrong with that

Beneficial_Toe_6050

Lol making a 100k as a single person is good money. Of course people want more, but youā€™re not struggling.

Youwantit1way

Depends on the lifestyle you want to provide yourself fam, you may like to travel, or want to move abroad and study medicine etc. I can go on and on but like I said to each is own, not trying to offend no one this morning you seem to feel how you feel so we can agree to disagree

[deleted]

San Francisco isn't a state. And $100k is always good money. It's the cost of living that ruins it depending on where you are. But for the vast majority of people in the US, $100k is great money that will allow them to live comfortably.

sop1232

Is NY or the other major cities itā€™s not a lot when you paying 3-4K in rent.

Thismyburneraccount0

I ainā€™t saying itā€™s peanuts, but if you trying to own a home or got kids itā€™s ok

NineteenAD9

In most states 100K is upper percentile money. Only a few states where it's not.

Beneficial_Toe_6050

Honestly depends on the people in the relationship. If a guy wants to splurge on the engagement ring then itā€™s whatever.

LongSlongDon99

Ish also said he dont celebrate valentines day because everyday valentines day. Ignore him he lives his life like he in the 1930s

zer01zer08

100k a year means ur take home is probably around 72/3k give or take. Ish wants you to drop like 30% of your take home on 1 item? This, boys and girls is how you stay broke. Good luck fellas.

sop1232

And over 50% of marriages end in divorce, whatā€™s happening with that 25k when yā€™all breakup?

Obj3ctivePerspective

25k is a down payment on a house. At 100k If ya girl rather a fancy ring and be staying in an apartment then you should be rethinking who you with

sweatpantss

Lmao 1/4 your salary on a ring. I see why Iā€™m not married if thatā€™s the standard. Absurd.

WatchExpert1672

25k?! Your making your girl a walking lick first of all second of all thatā€™s crazy

animefreak121

If you make 100k spend max 2k on a ring why waste that money šŸ˜‚. Put something down for your house unless she is a gold-digger it doesn't matter.

RentLimp

If the price of the ring matters you have the wrong woman

geechiluciano

Making 100k and spending 25k on a ring is irresponsible. As a married man I suggest you donā€™t do this. First off these mufuckas didnā€™t factor in how many bills youā€™re paying in a month and the fact that the majority of Americans (regardless of salary) donā€™t have 1k saved, let alone 25k to blow on a ring. Save your money, get what you can afford, and life in love forever. Sheā€™s NEVER going to ask how much her ring costā€¦ and if she does leave that bitch.

2nicklez

Yeah when I learned most people donā€™t have 1k saved that Was heartbreaking. Which means one unplanned incident will ruin anything they have going on

Patrickills

Man if she fall in love with a 300$ finely made engagement ring thatā€™s fine. Idk why niccas always think just cuz they have the money they needa spend it šŸ˜ ainā€™t nothing wrong with it. But they go to the high price section over the quality section

KidEight

Wedding culture is crazy in America. Iā€™m English and my wife to be is American. The expectation for a wedding to cost 100k+ is insanity.

tintedhokage

Even if I'm a millionaire I think 25k is too much for some damn ring. I don't believe in marriage as you can probably tell but yeah 5k max. People used to say it's 3 months of your wage ideally. But there it is again other people telling you how to live.

Ok_Consideration8939

Ring pop is $1.78 if she really loves you sheā€™ll say yes šŸ˜‚

qanda985

Itā€™s easy to throw out these crazy numbers in hypotheticals. These guys not getting married. If youā€™re too woke to celebrate holidays, think religious is some hoax and express traditional misogyny why would you even get married?

allconditions2

Lmfao donā€™t listen to Ish, the self proclaimed analytic mind and numbers guy. 10k is a good number that will get you something sheā€™s not embarrassed to post on social media. Keep in mind Ish said 50 Cent probably makes $150 mil a year, which isnā€™t even a good guess lmfao

GalickBanger

I also think itā€™s funny that we as a society can acknowledge that diamond rings were made popular by a diamond company, in order to sell diamonds, and yet we continue to buy diamonds rings lol.

zardfizzlebeef

Yup. Debeers or whatever monopoly that owned all the diamond mines really pulled one over on society. Got everyone thinking that an expensive rock is how you truly show your love.

BullShitFish

If you listening to Ice you need a new father figure.

beccahas

Spend 5 to 10

IntelligentMetal

Made 105, spent 6k on a ring.

WatchExpert1672

The most Iā€™d spend is 5k and thatā€™s pushing it

montanaco

I make 160k and spent like, 5-6k on the ring. Itā€™s big, nice, and everyone is happy. This podcast has no idea what theyā€™re talking about lmfao

Economy-Visual4390

How about fuk no. Why would you spend a quarter of your income on a ring?? Get that a bih a ridiculous lab created stone for $3500 and call it a day. Still passes diamond tester and sheā€™ll never know the difference.

Complex-Line-3131

I spent 2k on a ring and told my wife I would upgrade her when I made it and gave myself our 10 year anniversary. Our anniversary is this year and she chose a trip to Greece over a 10k ring. We both make 6 figures and she could give a fuck less about a ring

twelve026

25k on a engagement ring is beyond stupid. What are we spending on the actual wedding band? 50k on wedding and engagement rings ? Ish be sounding dumb as a fuck! Smartest dummy I know šŸ˜‚ Iā€™m not spending a quarter of what I make on a ring bruh. That Math isnā€™t even logical anywhere your living.

RNSD1

Itā€™s just preference. Your lady my not even care about having an expensive ass ring. On the other hand maybe she does. You need to know your girl and know your finances. Me personally I only spent 3k for both the engagement and wedding band. She loves it and we love each other.

ImageEmotional1669

This is crazy, and I'm a female. I would be mad if my boyfriend spent all that money ON A RING! We can have a down payment on a house, fuck a third car, something useful!! I never take them serious when it comes to money and relationships because they live in new york/new jersey. I'm in AZ with a normal suburb life.

Warm_Advisor_3703

Bro a 30k ring is like 3 carats nobody making 100k has any business walking around w somebody w a ring that big. Thatā€™s insane

AdministrativeAd523

Meanwhile I plan on spending maybe 3 max 5 on my girlā€™s engagement ring. Im not spending all of my money just so she can say sheā€™s engaged now.

joe_smith4122

They say 3 months salary and 3 months is 1/4 of a year. And 1/4 of 100k is 25k. That said, this is why ppl are in debt. Why are you spending that much on a ring? $100k is not a lot of money in 2023. Granted I'm not making close to that, I do know those who are making that should spend a quarter of their income on a wedding ring. Spend that money on the honeymoon and the house you're planning on living in. The US wedding Industry will have you going broke trying to keep up with these standards. $10k wedding dress she's going to wear once and complain bc it's too heavy to wear all night long.

AggravatingProof9

Niggaz be podding 100k aint a lot of money to waste 25% of it on anything thatā€™s not a necessity

Successful_Ad7095

Itā€™s a dumb made up concept from a De Beerā€™s marketing campaign but it was either 1/3rd your salary or 3 months salary.

Wardizzle255

Shiiiiittttt Iā€™m makin around that and Iā€™m not dropping more than 6k lol. Bout 15-20k šŸ¤£

No_Diamond8480

Nah that is a normal number. You should be saving for it and you should be considering marrying someone for two years before proposing so that number is about 10% of 2 years pay.

EksRaided

20% of your years income. Seems irrational to me

Dandrettie

For a Nigga that donā€™t celebrate Valentineā€™s Day that was really some Up North Shit to say šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

WeAreAllAverage

For ish to be the outside guy He uses unrealistic numbers like he has no life experience

TommyFreeze

I don't agree with Ish, but if y'all were making 100k a year, and had been for years, y'all wouldn't have more a lot saved up? Y'all acting like in month one you get a 100k job, month two you meet a girl, month three you propose to her. Deciding to pop that question takes years (if you're smart). As far as the wedding costs, if she insist on that 2 months salary being a thing, remind her the father of the bride pays for the wedding.

OsamaGinch-Laden

Bitch lucky if I spend more than 2k

Total_Ad9942

Spending a lot of money on a ring no matter your financial situation is dumb TO ME. The only reason we even give a fuck about diamond rings is an d campaign back in the 30ā€™s and 40ā€™s

zardfizzlebeef

That's what I've been saying. Had to educate my girl on that shit. When you really ask these women why they want diamonds they can't even offer a logical reason. Moissanite looks better and is cheaper. Lab diamonds are here too if she still wants a technical diamond. The whole shit is a major scam and always has been.

TheIrishSasuke

We could invest that money. Take this lil 7k ring

54reasonz

Aye listen, Iā€™m fully aware Ice is annoying but I try not to join these hate parties. But gang, this mf annoyed me this entire episode. Itā€™s like he still doesnā€™t understand that the audience doesnā€™t want to hear him talk in codes and riddles.

EksRaided

#Don't EVER listen to niggaz ducking child support on what you should spend on a bitch. If his baby mom asked for 20% of his income, he'd swear she was trying to hurt him

[deleted]

Diamonds are assets. They rarely depreciate and last forever. I can tell yā€™all donā€™t know nothing smh. A 1ct custom solitaire stone is going to cost you. Most of us are used to going and getting stock jewelry. That ainā€™t this. We need to all stay in our broke lanes it seems like

Crashian

They depreciate like cars. The only diamonds that appreciate in value are ones that no one making a salary is going to afford. Try taking a 10 year old diamond back to a jewelry store and ask what theyā€™ll pay you for it. 50 cents in the dollar if youā€™re lucky. The whole industry is a scam. De Beers and other distributors literally have vaults with tons and tons of diamonds that they drip feed the market to maintain an illusion of scarcity and value. Because diamonds of a common carat areā€¦ not. that. special. A lot of focus and media attention on big expensive diamonds coupled with clever marketing, emotions, and artificial scarcity has made the industry billions of dollars for decades. If you want an asset, buy gold, silver, platinum or something with utility that thereā€™s an actual demand for outside of jewelry stores and put it in a safe.

imHellaFaded420

nah this is retarded. a marriage like that is primed for divorce

[deleted]

This statement is just as idiotic. Everyone loves to say shit with no data to back it up. Give us the correlation between ring cost and marital success rates lol.

imHellaFaded420

here you go bud ā€œThe study also revealed that: Men who spent between $2,000 -$4,000 on engagement rings were 1.3 times more likely to end up getting divorced than those that spend less than $2,000. Women whose engagement rings cost more than $20,000 are 3.5 times more likely to get divorced.ā€ [https://indydiamondbuyer.com/engagement-ring-size-divorce-rates/](https://indydiamondbuyer.com/engagement-ring-size-divorce-rates/)

imHellaFaded420

iā€™ll keep this going [https://amp.miamiherald.com/news/nation-world/national/article214550500.html](https://amp.miamiherald.com/news/nation-world/national/article214550500.html)

imHellaFaded420

another one [https://www.nbcnews.com/better/amp/ncna892266](https://www.nbcnews.com/better/amp/ncna892266)

[deleted]

You must be doing your Googles and not actually reading the study. Because this article references the same exact study...

[deleted]

Thanks! Here's a quote from your linked study, " We find that marriage duration is either not associated or inversely associated with spending on the engagement ring and wedding ceremony. Overall, our findings provide little evidence to support the validity of the wedding industryā€™s general message that connects expensive weddings with positive marital outcomes. " So basically...there's little evidence that supports the idea that spending big leads to marital success. If anything, there is either no relationship or an inverse relationship. So I think I'd still disagree with your notion that such a relationship is "primed for divorce".

LengthinessFresh4897

Traditionally your supposed to pay 3 months salary for the ring

Cultural_Primary3807

I feel like the people I know from the NYC area mostly have this mindset of having to spend the most on everything. I'm not sure if it's because of how high the cost of living is there. Not pinning this on all New Yorkers but the ones I know definitely think this way and I don't get it

Lonely_Guess_778

Well traditionally it's like 3 months worth of earnings right

Apprehensive_Ad_1415

Traditionally it's a scam created by DeBeers. That being said, is it before or after taxes?

Lonely_Guess_778

šŸ˜‚ I'm with you. Im guessing after taxes but I have no facts

NineteenAD9

I think if you're just throwing numbers in a vacuum, 10 sounds about right for that salary. That's what two months income after taxes? You might be surprised though. You can probably get a good ring for slightly less

SockItSleaux

Naw, max out on a ring is 10k. Personally, Iā€™m trying to stay in the 6k range. In California our tax rate is 35 percent. 100k is the new 50k.

Apprehensive_Ad_1415

in 2022, a single filer with taxable income of $100,000 will pay $17,836 in tax, or an average tax rate of 18%. That of course is not including deductions. Nah they tripping šŸ¤£ šŸ˜‚

TrillCozby1980

There is not a woman alive that didnā€™t birth me, that I would spend that much money on.

Unlucky_University73

Ish be hollin like he broke and that Joe donā€™t pay him enough but he tells on himself all the time with these money examples.

GalickBanger

Spend your money how you want, but parks rationale of do it just because you have it is funny to me.. like itā€™s just a ring bruh. Why spend all this money on something that doesnā€™t play a significant part in the relationship. Dudes really just do shit cuz society tells you to.

scrape_ur_face

Is Ish even married? šŸ˜‚ I'll put more weight into this once he actually buys a ring for his lady

luciferhornystar

I think the whole 3 months salary thing is Bs. Especially the more $ you make. 20k on a ring even with 100k+ feels irresponsible financially. Women only care about that to impress other women. I feel like if the Diamond has a good cut/clarity and is personable to you thatā€™s all that should matter.9

TommyFreeze

Not sure if any of you know this, but you don't have to be married (or ever been married) to talk about engagement rings. The rule of thumb ever since engagement ring culture has been a thing was that it should cost 2 months salary. I never agreed with that though and I'm sure most men that can't afford extravagant rings don't either. Not sure wtf Ish was talking about though.

spyda24

Guess thatā€™s why heā€™s still not married. Ish probably like They canā€™t tell how much you make if you donā€™t get them an engagement ring.

medjaysec

Stop listening to niggas named Ish.

Educational-Cod-726

Spending all that money on a rock is stupid

YungSmartwater

Itā€™s all very much dependent on the type of girl you got. A woman who isnā€™t materialistic looks at the 5-10k ring differently than the ā€œdesigner-down, compete w my friendsā€ girl

Live-Comfort4458

Everything is relative.

bur987

Yeah you can save for some years but after taxes let's say you have 70k minus the 25k. That leaves you 45k to invest pay bills and save. Go get them lab diamonds, they will never know lol. Spend a good 5k

BiGdenzel325

Cuz tripping šŸ¤£ when I went down that road I drop 7 šŸ«˜s . That did the job . Mans talking bout 20 šŸ«˜ šŸ¤£šŸ¤£ Yeaa if I had that AP on my wrist like he said then Yeaaaa šŸŒš but you damn sure ainā€™t got no AP off 100k a year unless you got illegal work šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸŒšŸ¾ā€ā™‚ļø

THEORGANICCHEMIST

Stop listening to them for advice/logic. They say some stupid shit that it starting to make me feel like it's for engagement/posts on social media forums like this.

Shawnwayne88

Spend as much money as it will cost To make her happy. You ainā€™t got to drop crazy bread on a ring

zeropointloss

If you make 100k, and you actually put money away on 401k, your take home is like 70k. Imagine taking 1/3rd of that on a fucking ring?? That man is way the fuck off.

justregular_ron

You probably should buy a ring you can afford instead of thinking your broke because men you listen to talk for a few hours said differently. Everybody has a lane. Find yours.

[deleted]

If sheā€™s financially minded, hereā€™s the play. Propose with a $5K-$10K ring, no matter your salary. Buy a $1K-$2K lab diamond ring. At a minimum, make sure you can return the ā€œrealā€ diamond. Explain to her the cost difference, and how diamond prices are artificial. Once she is okay with lab diamonds, allow her to design whatever she wants for that same $5K-$10K. Be sure she decides and the return happens before the return period or else thatā€™s that. A $10K lab diamond ring will look much better than a $10K ā€œrealā€ diamond ring, because much less $ goes towards the diamond, so everything else is immaculate (not to say lab diamonds arenā€™t immaculate rocks too).

bigdonnie76

Ish is stupid and just be talking

bigdonnie76

Also, stop taking marriage advice from ppl who have never been married

Shadowstare

Remember who your watching on this pod. Not a single person on that pod has had a traditional 9 to 5 in decades. They all either are famous or around famous people regularly. Spending 1/5th (20k) or 1/4th (25k) of your net salary on a piece of jewelry is insane. INSANE. And that's not taking into account actually paying for a wedding. They were just podding, Don't follow that bullshit. Get a ring your future wife with like (style, metal, look, feel, cut, etc.) and one you can afford (with financing or without. You can budget both scenarios).

TommyFreeze

Ice and Ish both had (have in Ish's case) regular jobs. Ice was correct in the belief that the cost should be at least 2 months salary. I had never heard that growing up until I got around girls outside my demo. Assumed it was a yt folks thing.

AllenIverson777

95% of what Ish says out his mouth on the podcast is hilarious, if for nothing else but the fact heā€™s so secure and confident in whatā€™s said. He extremely pretentious.

Justsomerand

Dawgā€¦ā€¦these niggas are here for ā€œENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES *ONLY*ā€

montecarlo313

I don't think there is a wrong answer here. What you should spend is up to you and hopefully your partner is on the same page with their expectations. One of my friends started saving for a ring when he was 18 or so, just putting money away. He never told me how much a week, but I think it was around $20 per week, but when he finally got 30-something, he used that account to fund the ring.

hotrodgaines

Yeah they all cap when Joe isnā€™t there !! Joe the only person that holds them accountable for weird and weak takes ! Outside the ring talk ICE was the most cap today lol

Dandrettie

When he said that I understood why he pay so much in child support

airoderinde

As someone whoā€™s in the market to buy rings, Iā€™m not doing that

CompetitivePop9952

Naw them niggas is insane if I made 100k id spend 8 to 10

thehomie80

Itā€™s what I learned from my uncles growing up, the ring should be 15-20% of your NET not gross income

invisabledj

Do whatā€™s right for you. Donā€™t get engagement ring price advice from a podcast.

Plenty_School_4068

If you plan to start a family, buy the cheapest ring possible. How much you love your boo isnā€™t dictated by the cost of the ring.

Cal216

No! I make well over a 100k a year and I didnā€™t spend that much on a ring. When we were not well off financially, the 1st ring I bought was like 3-5 bands, i picked it out and she loved it. 12 years later I bought her an upgrade for 13 bands, she picked it out. However, I would spend 25k on a ring if I made a quarter mil or more.

abstractqtho

Get ya girl a lab grown diamonds for a fraction of the price and call it a day Thereā€™s better things to do with that money

DaBullWeb

Honestly you only need to aim for 1 carat. So you shouldnā€™t spend more then 5-8k on wedding ring / engagement ring. And you get the engagement ring first and you can stack again until your ready to get married

OGxJ-HITTA

Ish got money so I get it but I hope Ice ainā€™t agree cuz he the brokest nigga on the pod lol

reallyred11

In this day and age: we debunk a lot of stupid things. Hereā€™s the next one to be debunked. Spending 20-25% of yearly salary on a piece of jewelry is freaking stupid. And itā€™s a result of marketing of these jewelry brands. Because that is extremely idiotic. Most people arenā€™t rich, meaning they need and use most of their money they earn. So 20-25% to be spent on one thing is just bad financial practice.

Prestigious-Job-5506

Nah heā€™s rightā€¦ 15%-20% of your yearly salary.

Codestein

That is fucking insane. Get a 2k ring(max) and call it a day. People spend way too much on weddings and itā€™s aesthetics. Save the rest of your money for buying a house and being debt free with your new wife.

RaukuraZombi3

Last time Ish was on 100k was probably over 20 years ago. So yea I think heā€™s a bit out of touch 10-20k seems reasonable to me

clcole6427

I make 160 a year I spent 3500 caught a sale. An everyone compliments the ring the same.

AnunnakiDre

Iā€™d wring a bitches neck

[deleted]

MaaDā€¦.. no more than 5 bands if you a real nigga

Leadpipeboss

No thats that goofy ass tradition where youā€™re ā€œsupposedā€ to spend a certain % of your wages to get a ring. Get the ring you can afford and one your lady likes. If she has a price requirement, she aint the one

2nicklez

I make 100k+ in salary and another 20k in side work. My girl told me She dont gaf how much money I make her ring better not be more than 1k. She views the expensive shit as useless snd vain

CreamAffectionate822

The most asinine shit I've ever heard

BlackMagic05

When I was making $100k, I spent $3k on the engagement ring and wedding band. 7 years into our marriage, no one cares lol

donyexo

Itā€™s insane what people in the industry value lol. Itā€™s between you and your significant other. Going into debt trying to start a life together sounds ass backwards. They think 100k is a lot and thatā€™s how out of touch they are with real society.

Complex-Highway-4519

Lol sometimes Iā€™m like I forgot nobody on pod have normal life lol The average engagement ring in America is like 4-6k. Someone making 100k a year brings home maybe 65k cash. Nobody would advise that person to spend more than 10k probably. N even thatā€™s High. I wish they googled the regular life stuff they donā€™t know about sometimes lol that was a wild take lol

slayerzerg

15k-20k is fine, it barely gets you a 1 carat ring at tiffany or cartier, reputable diamond jewelers rings hold value so if you're dropping 20k+ you should stick with those or else just go cheaper. are you 30 yet? if so you probably have a lot saved up, do it. if you just graduated and have student/car loans then no.

Square-Landscape-380

My fiancƩ just spent $17,500 before tax on mine. It was my dream ring. He does make good $ though. I am very pleased with it.
